It was Sunday afternoon and my husband had a fever of 104 degrees F. He has a history of UTIs due to urinary retention. As a Infection Control Nurse, I was happy to see that this clinic and staff were closely following CDC recommendations for COVID-19 precautions. Nurse Practitioner was professional and very detailed. Excellent care without having to go to Emergency Room. Far better experience then the limited care provided at CVS Minute Clinic. read more

pro: 1. front desk was friendly. cons: 1. ever go into a place and it feels dirty? yep this place, hope you don't need to use the patient bathroom. 2. the nurse(?) just getting her job done, pretty clear being cordial was not part of her job. 3. I went in for a UTI and the nurse practitioner starts talking about STD's with me? 4. Had to go back for a follow up appt (can i say money maker more like it) and I sat waiting one hour for the NPs to read literally from the test results in two minutes I had no STD's (really? shocking!) and what kind of bacteria caused my UTI. I went in visibly distraught and shaking with horrible, increasingly worsening covid symptoms 8 days past my positive result, on the fourth consecutive day on 2 hours of sleep, and the worst illness-specific pain I've ever experienced. Had a lovely nurse check me in and felt reassured I'd be listened to, advised, and attended to with thoughtfulness and respect. Then the doctor showed up. She was in there all of 3 minutes, cut me off every time I tried to explain any specifics that concerned me, dismissed everything I said, left me in the room sobbing in frustration to "calm down" for 10 minutes. In that time, I overheard her saying "oh really? I didn't know that." to a nurse in the hall, despite the information I had tried to give her being repeated back to her from the nurse who had actually listened. She returned to suggest I return to the ER (i was there two days ago with no help) if my headache gets worse. I have never felt less heard in a doctor's office in my entire life. My concerns were immediately dismissed and I was told to stop taking excedrin because of the caffeine which would have been understandable had she not followed that up by advising I increase my prednisone despite me mentioning that I had the most intense pain and exhaustion and was afraid that prednisone increase would lead to meningitis as that's what happened to a coworker of mine just last month. Every time I opened my mouth desperately trying to describe any symptoms, I was interrupted before I could complete my thought. I didn't think I could feel worse until I was ushered out of that office defeated, with a throbbing headache, shaking, and a panic attack in progress. Her primary concern was that I may hurt myself or others, because I was a wreck even though I continuously apologized for my demeanor and explained that I haven't been sleeping which was making me emotional. Find any other immediate care. The doctor I encountered seemed more concerned about quantity of patients than quality of care. Oh. And it cost $85. read more

I came in here to get a rapid antibodies test and the woman at the front desk had me fill out the paperwork while I waited. I submitted the paperwork and paid the $40 and she asked me to wait until they call me in. I waited for 3o minutes and was the only person there. After 30 minutes, she called me up to tell me that they didn't have the rapid antibodies test, but that I could instead go with the blood test, which cost $180. I said no thank you, I will wait until the rapid tests are in. She could not tell me when the rapid antibodies test would be in and told me to call in later in the week. I waited until the end of the week and called three times and no one has answered. I have yet to verify that the $40 has been reimbursed, but it is still listed as a pending charge. I will need to wait until the charge is cleared before I can determine if they robbed me of $40 or not, but based on the other comments on here, I wouldn't be surprised if they did not cancel the charge. I should have read the reviews on this place before wasting my time and money. They don't seem to know how to operate a business. Sounds like they are operating a scam. If that $40 charge does go through, I will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

This was my first time coming to this clinical. I love how we can walk in and get what we need to get done; however , I didn't like how they messed up getting my results. I got a Varicella titer on Monday and the nurse practitioner said it processes in a day. It's been 3 days and I still haven't received my results back. It will be 4 days tomorrow. Due to this situation, I will not be able to do clinical's on time. I am very upset with my first experience in this clinic. read more

Went in for Covid Test. Clinicians were fine. Billing is horrible. Just got bill for test even though both my wife and I have Medicare. They likely only billed our supplement not Medicare itself. Office unable to help. Referred to billing line and can't get through. Waited for an hour on the phone left message. Called a second time again no answer after 50 minutes. No office manager to talk to regarding this. Not sure how to pursue this. read more

Don't bother making an "appointment" at this place for a Covid test. I had a 2:11pm appointment, got there at 2 and was told to call from the parking lot. A girl named Sam answered and said she needed to put me on a "brief hold." Ten minutes later my call kicked over to their automated system asking me to enter an extension. So I called again and said I had been on hold for 10 minutes and was told "there are a few people ahead of you" and that they would call me when they were ready for me. In the meantime I notice the sign out front that "Walk-ins are Welcome." I called again at 3:11pm, one hour after my appointment time, and asked how much longer it would be. Jennessa told me that I would be next. As I type it is 3:45pm and I'm leaving. I came here because I'm symptomatic and feel like death warmed over and need a Covid test and this place thinks it's acceptable to make me wait in my car for nearly 2 hours? No, not OK. read more

I had blood drawn on 12-26-19. Today is 1-6-20. I have not received the results. I have contacted the clinic in River Forest several times. Only to be told that my blood test results are on hold. On 1-4-20 I was told that I would receive a return call regarding the reason my blood test results are on hold. However, I never received that call. I have a very painful medical condition. I need the results in order to treat the condition correctly. I strongly recommend avoiding Midwest Express Clinic. I feel totally disrespected. In addition, I feel as if they are not concerned about my well being. read more

I came in on a Friday with a shoulder injury That was causing me a fair amount of pain and and had an x-ray. My provider Mallory Norton said she would call me with the results and the course of care on Saturday. I waited until about 1 in the afternoon and then I called the Clinic and left a message for her. No one called me back by Monday so I called again and was basically told by a very rude woman don't call us, we'll call you. I called back on Wednesday and got Mallory on the phone. She had no idea why I was calling and then she seeming looked at my X-ray for the first time while we were on the phone and said it was negative. She then asked me if I thought she should order an MRI. I told her I wanted to get what she thought I should get. She said she would send over an order. In the interim i did some research and discovered that people with metal implants, like me, shouldn't have MRIs so I called her back and she said she would send over an order for a CT scan, which she didn't. I called back the following day, which was her day off and had to wait for her to come back to work to get my order. Keep in mind i am in a lot of pain this whole time. I get an appointment for the CT scan and I call mallory for the results a few days later. She was unavailable so I left a message. I then called the imaging company and had them send me my results which I took to my regular doctor the next day so he could then refer me to the next level of care. Overall I would categorize my experience as nothing short of incompetent with delay after delay after delay, al the while I am in pain from my injury. Some people I dealt with were kind, some were indifferent and some were downright rude. I am not sure what the point is of ordering expensive imaging, if you're not going to do anything with the results. read more

The very worst! I waited two hours to see the nurse practitioner who diagnosed me with a sinus infection needing an antibiotic. I waited another ten minutes to tell the front desk which pharmacy I used. Two hours later I went to pick up my prescription. Guess what? They never called it in. And so I'll wait another 12 hours with searing throat, headache and fever until I can call Midwest Express in River Forest and hopefully get the prescriptions sent in a reasonable time. Meanwhile, I get worse. Honestly, you MUST be able to do better than this clinic. There are lots in the area. DO NOT GO TO THIS ONE!!! read more

I had two abnormal lab results and they're okay with sending you off without any explanation or phone call. I'll make sure that no one I know goes here and I will never return. The doctor banged on my injury so hard I'll give her credit to see if fake but she enjoyed it. Their medicine is stale did not work. They were my 1st urgent care and what a bad impression. The medicine didn't even ease pain while there- It never worked-It's probably going out their back door. This she-doctor was a jerk. Gave me no take home instructions, etc. read more

We went in to get tested for covid. Then after taking our cards they had to charge us on our credit card. Because it is fairly important that we get tested, and we were trying to find out ASAP if one of us had Covid we let them charge us. Finally they called our names to get tested. We expected to get tested and leave. However it seemed like after we got our Covid test they ranted about the various things wrong with my pregnant wife which they kept saying they needed to investigate (which conveniently would cost more money). Personally I think it is a little fishy that they didn't recommend an OBG doctor to give her a check up. But instead took it upon themselves to give us medical exams we didn't ask for. Staff was rude, argumentative and insistent that it was policy to fill out a paper (!) Pre-Authorization Credit Card Form before I was even seen by a doctor at their clinic! I offered to fill it out after I was seen and got an Invoice with my Detail of Charges, but the staff told me it was mandatory "per the CEO." I asked if I could review a written copy of the policy and the staff said they didn't have it in writing (I always review details before I agree to sign off on anything.) I once again said "I will sign the Pre-Auth form *after* I am seen, but not before" and was again refused. I gave them back their clipboard, took all the docs I had filled out and walked out. Though the location is very convenient to where I live (and offers free parking), I will not be going back there. I've already told family and friends to avoid this place as it is very scam-like to request credit card information upfront like that without a clearly written policy for patients to review. I had a very good experience here. They for me in quickly, were courteous and on top of things. It was my second time to urgent care in 3 days (ear infection had gone undiagnosed). They also called back to check on me and discuss test results. The only thing lacking was that I expected an email that I didn't get, otherwise very helpful and supportive. read more

Unbelievably bad. Called ahead to ask whether specific test (pertussis) was available at this clinic, because 1) outbreak in the community, 2) knew I was exposed, 3) having the symptoms of that disease. As a physician, I trusted that if the receptionist on the phone said pertussis testing was available, and then I entered "pertussis testing" as a chief complaint on the check-in iPad, and AGAIN on the mobile survey, then at least the person rooming me would ask about that. The MA (again, I think she was an MA but never introduced herself) took a very poor history and when I explained that I was there for pertussis testing, she asked me, "Like, the flu?" I explained that no, pertussis is whooping cough, a different illness, and she responded with offering me a strep test. I asked if I could speak with the provider and she left the room for less than one minute, returned to tell me that "Jessica asked what you'd like done... we can get a chest x-ray and check for flu?". At that point, having never seen the provider and feeling appalled at the lack of clinical judgment on the invisible provider's part to even attempt to see a patient, I asked to leave. I mentioned this to the receptionist who said she would refund my co-pay and nullify the visit. I explained that since there was an outbreak in the area and parents would likely be calling about bringing their kids in for testing--putting others in the waiting room at risk of infection--the staff should be educated to know that they DO NOT offer this testing. I then received a call from a manager of the clinics who listened to the above and promised that she would look into the situation, follow-up, and rectify the situation, including billing. And yet: I have a bill for this visit, now on "final notice", billing for that waste of time and absent provider. Do not go here. read more

Nurse Practitioner Jessica Borst at Midwest Express Clinic is worth her weight in gold. In the past month, in a series of unfortunate events, my whole family was treated by her -- my husband, for a bad dog bite to his hand; my son, for what was thought to be strep but turned out to be an abscess in his throat that could have grown and suffocated him had Jessica not caught it and correctly diagnosed it in time for proper emergency treatment; and finally, she patched me up and gave me excellent wound care advice after I received facial grease burns in a cooking accident. In addition to being whip smart, competent and talented, Jessica is highly personable, a real pleasure to deal with. I cannot say enough good things about her. My family is very grateful for her service and we feel lucky we found her. read more

Started out okay, but ended poorly. Didn't diagnose of have any sense of urgency around a suspected appendicitis. Kept sending him for tests that couldn't be done in a timely matter. Refused to give results over the phone and made him come in for the test results to be shared (albeit during Covid). There was ZERO sense of urgency around his case. While waiting for the test date he decided to go to the ER instead. ER found the matter urgent and immediately sent him for imaging. Turned out to be a ruptured appendicitis.... he could have died. I called to let them know about what happened and was told he had refused the CT scan which was a complete lie. He only canceled it after he was admitted to the hospital and already receiving treatment. I would have expected someone to care that this happened to my husband and perhaps use it as a learning opportunity. Not the case. I wouldn't go here again. read more
