I went in around 4pm but there wasn't a whole lot going on, it looks like people were just coming into work for their shift and I didn't see a host at the stand so I decided to sit at the bar. I felt like the food is tasty, the drinks were just ok, but the bartenders were anything but warm. I was one of 3 guests and they barely came to check up on me, or start a conversation or anything. Actually it did take a while to get greeted by them when I sat. Their vibe really turned me off to this place, not to mention the price point for what you actually get. I think that getting table service is much better than sitting at the bar, so I don't recommend the bar. The aesthetic inside is cute, and the cups the cocktails were served in were fun. Total disappointment. I have been wanting to try Miel de Agave for quite some time and the opportunity presented itself tonight. 745 res on open table and I'm here early. Unfortunately, as soon as I walked in, I could feel a lack of organization. Ten minutes waiting at the entrance to be finally acknowledged and the young lady told us it would just be a minute so i suggested we wait at the bar and she agreed. The only spark of hope for this place was the bartender who asked what our name was so he could check on our table. 45 minutes later and we go to the desk to check and have been told our table was given away since they thought we would be eating at the bar?? Who said that?? The bartender disagreed and said he told them we were waiting for a table. Where is the communication? Where is the customer service? Awful and it's doubtful I'll ever return. Hopefully the elote was good but I'll never know. The red lights were shining bright and they clearly did not want me here. Did a manager come over and acknowledge the mistake? Nope. I'm not convinced anyone was steering the ship tonight. They told my date we would be seated right away but that didn't happen either. Unorganized and a total waste of time. read more

Just some observations as it seems that management takes reviews to heart (which is great!). We had a reservation for my birthday, and we were sat at a small table for two directly in front of the kitchen near the bathrooms. The restaurant was empty as it was only 5pm. I could've asked for another table, but I shouldn't have had to. The entire meal was full of not the best smells and loud kitchen noises. Not romantic at all for a place known for the vibe. We shouldn't have been sat there for a reservation and honestly that table should just be removed. Also the utility cart used to bring out the food just seems so out of place for the trendy environment they are trying to create. We found the food pretty good, but quite expensive for what you get. Seasoning on the steak was lacking, thankfully we got some hot sauce to help with that on the side. The shrimp were cold and overcooked. Service was friendly enough but the wine list was not updated and they didn't have what we asked for. The server did say the "Mer-lot" was available. I don't mind spending a decent amount of money for good food and a good experience, but this unfortunately was lacking both. read more

I came to Phoenix and was looking for a place to host a big group (9 people) and I found this spot on OpenTable. They have a parking lot but you have to pay to park in it so fyi! I loved the ambiance here. They had dim lights, a live performer and if it was your birthday the waiters came out with sparklers And a song and it was so cute! For my drink I ordered a strawberry margarita and it was absolutely delicious! It was a little pricey and overall I would say this restaurant was on the high end side, although I thought i read somewhere that it was advertised as a casual Mexican restaurant. Michelle was our server and she was very pleasant to interact with so we were glad to have her. Now I will say I was very disappointed in the food here. The ratings online for this establishment were pretty high so my expectations were too but unfortunately they fell short. I ordered the Chicarron and it was a big miss for everyone at the table. It was not Fried hard like chicarron typically is and they sprayed some type of lime juice over it that did not make it enjoyable for me. I ordered the surf and turf for my entree and while the steak was just okay for me the shrimp seemed a little undercooked for me. A couple of my friends ordered the carne asada and weren't too fond of it either. The meat was very tough and hard to cut. For dessert I was able to try the tres leches cake which was pretty good but just a tad bit too cold, like it was fresh out of the freezer. It didn't have the soft milky texture that o typically see with tres leches. Overall, aside from the entertainment, this was a pretty disappointing dinner experience. read more

Hostess was super rude right off the bat and made everyone wait in a 100 degree lobby in the middle of June until your table was ready and the entire party was present(we were only missing 2/7 people) ... Server Brandon was nice and the food was decent. We chose this place off of the tequila selection and were disappointed when we got there to find out that they only had 3 xtra anejo and were out of 2/3. Highly would not recommend this location. We had a 7:30pm reservation , at 8pm, we still had not been called. The lobby was FULL , with about 20 other people. When my husband asked how long the wait would be, they we're rude and stated there was 5 other people in front of us. Speaking with people in the lobby, they were also upset and stated that they also had a reservation and hadn't been called. The front desk ladies were unapologetic, very rude and unprofessional. If people make a reservation at your establishment, you need to be grateful and treat them with respect. All in all- we left and went to a different restaurant. This was our first experience here and let me say it was amazing! As we walked in we were warmly greeted. We did have reservations with a group of 9 so I would recommend that for large groups. Food: So, so, delicious. We had the aguachile ribeye, which is expected to be a little spicy and it was. The ribeye just melts in your mouth with a delicious flavor. The guacamole was ok, not the best ever, but it was still good. The corn ribs were perfectly flavored, yummm!! The tomahawk steak, my husband and I split and it was delicious! The salsa that comes with it was perfect. Now the drinks: Margarita perfection. I had a guava margarita with the Tajín rim and my husband had strawberry margaritas. The ambiance: the music selection was fun, loud enough to enjoy but we also could enjoy conversation. The dim lighting was great too. Service: the best you could ask for. Marcia was so patient, friendly and had great suggestions. We were a good size group and there were no mistakes. She came to check on us just enough. Everyone in between that would bring our food/ drink was so polite and would ask if they could do anything else for us. First time here. Let me start ... arrived early because my friend was running a little late. They asked if I had reservations ... at 3:00 in the afternoon on a Thursday! They said they'd find me a table. I asked if I could sit at the bar while waiting for table to be ready. Nope ... apparently the bar is closed until 6 or 7 in the evening, and there are only 4 chairs when they are actually open!!! Once seated in this very dark place (fortunately they have LED lamps on every table that you can turn on), it took quite a while for my (very tasty Tequila-based) espresso martini to come out. My friend arrived, and apparently he ordered the right thing ... their famous birria tacos. I ordered the enchiladas with steak. They were not even edible. The simple side salad was good though. Then the topper was, when I went to order a glass of wine, I accidentally ordered a red, when I only drink white. When the server brought out red, and I was surprised, she didn't even offer to substitute it for a white. Fortunately my friend is a red drinker, so I asked him if he would like it. Will not be back. Just got into town, it has been a long day and this place was a great way to end the night. Cade suggested the shrimp and birria tacos. Soooo good!! Of course they have a different name on the menu. The shrimp was wrapped in bacon and the tacos were topped with chipotle sauce. We also got their spin on a spicy margarita, it was very good too!
