Came with my husband weeks ago on a rainy day so it felt like the perfect meal to warm up from the slight breeze. We got the hotpot and skewers combo and the experience was quite nice and different. We ordered the soup base for hotpot with the workers and the skewers as well. All the hotpot items are in the fridge in the back along with the drinks which is also included in the price (all you can drink). We ordered skewers and whatever offerings that came with this option and then went to get stuff for hotpot. I think they have a good enough variety and the fun part is to put the sticks in the hotpot and eat off of it as well. WIth the skewers options, I think each person gets a scallop with vermicelli but we didnt know and we asked for seconds (whooops). the lady was nice enough to give it to us anyway. The workers are super attentive and very helpful. As for drink options, they have a variety of sodas, wong lo jie, fruity drinks. I was def happy even though I tried not to drink too much. While it's a pricier meal, all the food that you get is well worth it. I really loved how many different kind of meat, seafood, veggies, and more that they have. The fact that it's all on skewers makes cooking and eating easy. It's truly such a wonderful dining experience. We came with a large party of 11 and we were more than satisfied. Everything was delicious and I love how easy it is to get more skewers on your own. They also have a large selection of drinks from soy milk to herbal teas. Great spacious interior with high ceilings and beautiful light fixtures. The tables are big with plenty of seating, and the back has a great selection of self-serve hot pot sticks as well as all you can eat crawfish. This place also has regular BBQ meat sticks in addition to the hot pot meat sticks. The chicken, lamb, beef, and all the standard organ sticks are cooked very well. Everything is moist and not overly seasoned. Sometimes at these places the seasoning can be overly sweet or overly salty, but that was not the case here. The tins of mushrooms, especially the one with the beef, were also great. Besides fatty beef and enoki mushrooms, there were wood ear mushrooms, peppers, and a bunch of other things like a few rice cakes. Definitely get this if you love buttery, brothy beef with mushrooms and vegetables. The garlic eggplants are also super good if you love a roasted garlic overload. You can also order off the sheet by checking off the items and listing the quantity, which is very convenient. The only thing I did not think was worth it was the watermelon juice. The place isn't quite the roomiest; the wooden bench, if pulled out too much, you won't be able to pass through. Went on a few occasions to this place and each time, the food selection is different.. not in a good sense, for the most part. Waitstaff can be attentive but last visit, someone spilled a tray of water (accidentally of course and without notice). She did later come to apologize, which was much appreciated. AYCE $43 for two choices cash offer, which is too good of an offer to pass up! Especially with such spacious seating inside. There's crawfish and chicken feet as free appetizers, and plenty of sodas and other drinks to choose from that's included in the AYCE price. I really think the grilled fish is especially worth it, since usually the fish already starts around $50 at the other places and this is all you can eat too. We had two fishes but could've easily ordered another one. I liked the pickled pepper broth fish. Also opted for the bbq/skewers option. While it starts to taste all the same after a while, the selection is pretty good and worth the price to be able to try all kinds of skewers. Came in around 5pm on a very chilly weekend. Hotpot to chase the cold away and some really nice Chinese skewers with a cold glass of beer really hits the spot! Walking in, they had just opened for dinner and we were the only party. But by the time we finished placing our order, people started to stream in and it was filled in no time! We ordered our soup base and skewers. All other items for our hotpot could be selected by ourselves in the back. Most of the seafood were kept on ice and you took what you wanted. Right next to the food options were a selection of drinks and sauce station. Waitstaff were super attentive to your needs and when you raise your hand to flag them, they are already there next to you. The first thing we ordered was the braised fish filet combo which came with 10 skewers of your choice, a soda and a side of white rice for $25.99. This was actually a pretty solid deal. We got the swai fish in preserved vegetable flavor and it tasted pretty good. There was a good amount of fish and tons of vegetables at the bottom of the dish. The skewers were also really good! The second thing we ordered and the main reason we ordered from this restaurant was the house famous spicy dry pot with 2 proteins for $17.95. This dish was a complete joke. They had a good variety of vegetables and stuff but there was barely any protein of my choice. We ordered the marbled beef and fish filet and there was probably 3 slices of beef and 3 pieces of fish. The flavor also didn't even taste like the usual dry hot pot we would get. It tasted like they just boiled everything and added some spice and mixed it up. I've been here twice now. They're able to accommodate bigger parties and are opened pretty late. I prefer the hotpot over the skewer option. After a while the skewer flavor is one note. The hotpot broth was very good when it came to the coconut chicken. You can instantly smell it and the taste is strong that you don't even need sauce. You go up and grab the items you want. it's nice because the quantity is less so you can decide how many quail eggs you want or how many fish balls you want to grab. there's a complimentary piece of abalone for each person (1 max). One of the beef option is already wrapped around enoki mushrooms. It's fun to put each skewer in the bin. You can't tell how much you're eating because it's individual skewers for each item for the most part but it's more enjoyable based on the item you want versus trying to eat your worth. It's unlimited drinks in the fridge section. The service was excellent. Like always you get 2 hours since it's AYCE. Each option for AYCE is different ( SKEWER HOT POT $33.99 p/p, BBQ $39.99 p/p, & COMBO $45.99 p/p). Service is prompt. You might experience some lost in translation as the staff mostly speaks Chinese but are willing to help make menu choices. Ambiance is chill but background music is a mix of CantoPop, KPop, and American pop music. The space is immense and can handle a lot of people but you can get seated immediately. This place is a twist from the typical Hot Pot places you may be used to. First of all, this is more casual setup with communal bench seating. There are some private rooms in the other section but they do not have the induction stove top on the table already (they have portable ones). For the big tables, there are 2 induction tops. Each top they can provide a 2- side hot pot . I typically like to go with the basic bone broth and just flavor the sauces spicier. Second, there are 3 options you can select from: Option 1: hot pot Option 2: Hot pot + bbq sticks (you fill out a form - Note: the food takes time to come out) Option 3: Hot pot + bbq sticks + fish casserole (comes out before bbq sticks) We found that ordering Option 3 gave the most value food wise. It is only a few bucks difference between Option 2 and Option 3 and we find that they provide additional complimentary sushi, frog dish, on the house items that added to the experience. Third, This is very much a self serve style. After you order what you want with the options you can : - Get your own soda/drink. - Grab your own food for hot pot (from the food display section). Note: fatty beef and lamb, you order with the server, those are not self serve. There are also some precooked food you can grab - crayfish and chicken feet. - Make your own sauce. I really enjoyed get as much as I want for myself so I did not feel like i'm wasting certain dishes and get to "try" things. Although, sometimes I want a lot of many I do feel like I'm wasting the dishes. Fourth, the dessert is the old school hersey's ice cream and sorbet cups you remember when you were a kid. I came here to try their skewers, so this review is for the BBQ portion. The store is HUGE. You'll see two separate doors to the same place, with the right side being the main area. The playlist had a nice mix of Mando-pop transitioning to English R&B Pop music during our time there. Their menus didn't show the BBQ Combos section that I found online. Everyone dining was having hot pot. I had to inquire before they handed us a separate skewer menu. We picked 20 skewers for the $29.99 combo. Unlike Mr.Q, another BBQ skewer spot nearby, the skewers here only had 2 pieces a stick. They were tiny, but they were $1.50. If you are in a group, definitely get 1 stick per person. Nothing much really stood out from the skewers, but I do like how their Beef was tender without being dry or chewy. Trying the mediocre skewers here lessened my interest in exploring their hot pot options. Maybe come here for a nicer ambiance to chill and eat late night skewers, but Mr.Q takes the cake for better ones. read more

My friend sat down first so by the time I got here, there were water on the table unlike last time. I think cuz the manage/boss (in white, while other stuffs wear black) was here tonight but at the end of the day still none one time water refill and I think it was the manage/boss who help me order my last item the ICED RICE. Waited probably more then 20mins till my friend asked n found out no one was making it so we cancelled, took our check n left. Then I also found out they never provided a pen/pencil with the paper menu but luckily she had her own. A new place that just opened up recently. $33.99/pp for skewer hot pot but if you were to get the bbq and hot pot combined it'll be $45.99/pp. Came here on a Wednesday with 2 of my friends and we were seated promptly. They have 2 sections to this restaurant and theres also rooms for bigger parties. Each of the room is themed and I thought it was adorable. The food was like any other hot pot place except a majority of it was on skewers so you don't order it off the paper unless its the sliced meats. They also have vegetables too, an abundance of choices which was great. There is a section to grab the skewer items + vegetables, they also have a sauce bar, they also have a small appetizer section with crayfish, oranges and spicy pickled chicken feet. Service was extremely attentive, always checking on us. They also provided a complimentary fresh lobster on the house and a delicious rice cake dessert as well. I think they were thanking customers for stopping in and I think that makes them stand out from a lot of other places. A new and discrete hotpot & bbq place that opened up on 8th Avenue. They do skewer all you can eat hotpot for $34, AYCE bbq for $40 and if you want to do both it's $46. There's is a lot of seating inside and they also have a cute area with a lot of cartoon characters on the other side. There was four of us and they have a deal where if you are a party of four, one person gets to eat free. We did hot pot and bbq all you can eat. Sauce station, skewer station and hot foods/fruits were located in the back. There is a wide assortment of skewers for hot pot and sauces. For the hot foods, there was crawfish and chicken feet. We had a great experience here. Hot pot was good and for the skewers, each order comes with a few sticks. We did tell the staff about the crab and clam not being fresh and they were super nice about it. They gave us a few extra clams and also went to check the crab area and ensure everything else was fresh. Also, I guess because they are newly opened, they gave us a free platter of food for the hotpot. There were clams, a lobster, and some other goodies in the platter. Overall, the dining experience was great because the staff were so nice and attentive. Food experience was good! I highly recommend this place for ayce hotpot & bbq. This was the only hot pot place open at the time, we were roaming around brooklyn trying to find hotpot and this was the only place to take us since they were open till 3AM. Late night hotpot takes you to another world haha. They let us know that the skewer station would only be open till 1:30AM however but we grabbed too many in the beginning anyways that we didnt need to go for a second round. My advice to you is to grab a few of everything to try first. There were a couple of beefs that I wasn't really a fan of. They have alcohol and also let us BYOB. The broth was good, they had good drinks, I loved the soymilk. And lot of variety to choose from. They also give you free sashimi sticks, it was salmon, abalone, and arctic clam, pretty good with the sauce. Only thing that makes it hard to come here again is probably the language barrier, nobody spoke much english or cantonese for me. But we still made do. For 41.99 you can get unlimited fish (sorta like Chuang Chen tia) , unlimited bbq skewers, and unlimited hotpot! Everything was good quality stuff, flavorful, and really enjoyable for ayce! Sauce station was plentiful and had great variety. Staff was really attentive and changed places several times as well! Hot Stix is a fairly new spot to 8th Ave and I'd say it is a pretty nice addition. It's an All You Can Eat spot for hotpot, bbq, and whole fish (like Hot Space). If you don't want all 3, they have different prices for just two or even just one option. There is a lot of space in the restaurant and it can definitely fit big parties. I was part of a group of 6 on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was not packed as it was a little odd time to eat. But my friend recommended to go at that time because it gets packed later in the evening and we would not have wanted to wait. We opted for all 3 options and they let you pick out different broths for the hot pot. They have a sauce station with so many options that you can make any combo you'd like. The hotpot food is all in one area where you pick and choose yourself to bring back to the table. Everything was fresh. The bbq skewers had great flavor. The fish was full of flavor as well, but I kind of expected it to be a bit bigger. The only complaint I have is that there wasn't enough variety for veggies or just non meat/seafood options.
