Parking lot was not that busy today. Usually it's tough to find parking and the spaces are tight.

We order the same staples; egg roll appetizers and filet mignon pho. I like their spicy broth too. I came to Yelp to check I had reviewed here as it is rarely full but deserves to be. Perhaps we are lucky with what we order? You can get your lotto tickets here too. They recently upgraded their menu to offer bbq all you can eat and updated their tables to cater for this menu but we haven't tried this yet. Support these guys so they stick around.

Mignon Pho & Grill is a solid spot in Kearny Mesa for fresh and flavorful Vietnamese dishes. I went with the vermicelli shrimp, and it was light, well-balanced, and packed with fresh ingredients--the shrimp was cooked perfectly and paired really well with the noodles and veggies. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt clean and casual. It's a great option for a quick, satisfying meal, especially if you're looking for something fresh and not too heavy.

Stopped by on Saturday afternoon to pick up lunch to-go. I ordered filet mignon pho and shrimp rice paper wraps. Everything was tasty, and the best part was the food was ready in 10 minutes which was perfect since I was on a time constraint!

To preface, I came here with a party of 8. Everything went well when we ordered, the server took all of our orders and brought us waters to drink. The problem was it took forever for them to bring out our food. There were other large parties (of 5-8) that came after us who got their food before we did. It took quite a while for everyone at my table to get their order. Otherwise, the food was great. The pho was nice and warm, noodles cooked well, and broth flavorful. Food alone, it was very tasty, I honestly enjoyed it a lot. My final thoughts, even though I didn't have the best experience with service, the food was still good. Honestly I think it was the fact my party was so big that I encountered these issues. Otherwise I think your experience here would be much more pleasant.

We had: Beef and Shrimp Rice Plate upgraded to fried rice and fried egg Pork Chop and Rice Plate upgraded to fried rice and fried egg Egg Rolls Both the beef and pork were tough not tender. It was definitely a jaw exercise chewing. Vietnamese restaurants are known for flavor with so many seasonings bountiful. But these meats had no marinade. We were expecting lemongrass, garlic, and fish sauce, but there wasn't even salt and pepper. The fried rice was also bland and had no smoky flavor. The egg was fried perfectly Asian style with crispy edges, fully set whites, no raw spots with silky runny yolk. Most of all it was not greasy. The egg rolls are four stars. A lot of wrapper and too little filling. With regard to accessibility, there are very few disabled spots. The regular spaces are tight and you'll likely bump into a car getting out and even more difficult if you have a wheelchair or accessibility scooter. This complex has a lot of other restaurants and the Nijiya grocery store so it gets really packed.

This place hits the spot EVERY time!!! Everything is fresh. From the spring rolls rice paper, to the pho noodles. & the damn the broth is just peak! So delicious absolutely recommend. Beautiful interior too. I love a nice place I can enjoy a nice meal. Thank you guys for keeping it fresh & friendly :)

Food was great, fast service. Interior was clean and ambiance feels like it's the spot to be on the weekends with a long bar and lots of drink options. A few claw machines to keep the kids entertained. Menu had plenty to choose from, including kid options.

Food was awesome. Got the Hue Pho and a lemon drop. Only criticism is that the service was rather slow . Besides that I highly recommend.

We walked in at about 5pm on a Thursday. It wasn't busy - about 3 tables occupied with a few more tables filled as we sat. We were greeted and seated right away, anywhere we'd like. Music was playing that wasn't overly loud along with TVs on - on mute. We were serviced shortly after seating. They provided great customer service. Everyone we encountered was patient and friendly. Food we had: Bun Xeo (vegetarian with fried tofu) - the crepe itself was good and crisp however the sauce was more soy sauce based rather than the traditional fish sauce base. Shaken beef - meat was tender and flavorful. Salad was super fresh! Shrimp spring roll - the roll itself was soft and fresh however I'd prefer more veggies rather than packing it with noodles. Also, the peanut sauce was a bit too plain, for my liking. I had to add sate in every bite. Overall, food didn't taste traditional, definitely didn't beat my Mom's cooking, but I get it, I didn't go there for my Mom's cooking! Our dishes were decent, for an "American" version, if you will. I'll have to try a bowl of pho next time.

Came here for dinner after work and we ordered spring rolls, bun do hue beef cut, and chicken pho. The broth from both soup was delicious. It wasn't too spicy but had a lot of beef cuts inside. I like that they give a generous amount of cabbage and bean sprouts. The service was quick but waited awhile for the check. There is a lot of seating inside and outside. It is located in a shopping plaza and there is plenty of parking.

Service was fast and the food was good. I tried a seafood soup. It was tomato based with a light broth. It was not busy but seems like a nice place to come. Server/cashier was really nice. The decor was simple. Loved the koi fish barrel near the cash register.

    Short rib pho.

I'm not really a fan of Pho in general, but a friend wanted Pho so I suggested this place because I think its a modern take on pho. So its not your traditional pho but has more modern options that a normal pho place. We started with an order of egg rolls, they were crispy and delicious. I normally don't like the dipping sauce at traditional Vietnamese places because its very fish sauce heavy, but since I didn't get a strong fish sauce smell I gave it a small dip; Not bad no strong fish sauce taste! Thats a huge plus for me! I just ate my egg rolls with sriracha though. For my entree, I was trying to decide between the short rib pho, ox tail pho and ox tail bun bo hue. I asked the waiter his opinion he suggested the short rib pho. When it came out, I was so surprised! I can see why he suggested it, it was a whole beef rib! The rib meat had been braised and was very tender and meaty. Yes the prices are a bit higher than your traditional pho place but they have more updated modern offerings. So don't go there and get the regular pho that you would at your normal pho shop, that's not why you come here. I forget what my friend ordered, some more traditional type of pho, he said it was very clean and tasty. It's in the same parking lot as Nijiya, Okan and Karami ramen so theres a large parking lot but some of the spaces are really tight, so if you can find one with adequate space take it, or park on the street for more stress free parking. Service was good, the waiter gave a great suggestion and refilled waters in a timely manner. There were only 1 or 2 servers but it wasn't too crowded. I recommend this place if you want to try Pho 2.0

    Spicy broth

I've been ordering here for a long time but last night will change that going forward. I usually order off one of their food delivery apps but I was close by so I ordered for pick up. I ordered the Mignon pho bowl with spicy broth. I checked the bag before leaving and the broth was not filled all the way to the top so I asked for a little more broth. He said, sorry my friend, we will have to charge you for extra broth even though I paid for it! Wow, they've definitely went down hill since I started coming here. They lost a loyal customer for sure!

I see from the photos there are a few tv's inside. I know it is NOT a sports bar, but is it an ok place to bring a small group and have lunch and some drinks and watch a football game this sunday?

Yes it is a good enough spot to watch a game. They got some flat screens and comfortable spacing to watch a game. I am not sure if the TVs have sound though.

I had been to SD twice before and wanted to check out somewhere I hadn't been. Enter Blue Water - the reviews and pics looks great, and the weather called for seafood, so I decided to head here and check it out. This Blue Water is located on India St in Mission Hills, though they have another location in Ocean Beach. Parking can be a little tricky, as there is no parking lot they are on a main road close to a split in a residential area. The interior is pretty spacious - the fish market is towards the front, and the ordering counter is in the back. Seating is spread out between the main area where the market is, a side room, and outdoors in the front. Decor and aesthetics are casual - very seafood restaurant-esque with straightforward design. The foot traffic set up so you order first and then find a table before they serve your meal to you. The menu is extensive - they have a large selection of fish that can be prepared several ways. It's a little overwhelming to take in, but there was no pressure for us to order; if there's a line all the more time to explore. I ultimately decided to get their mini shrimp tacos - these were served on a corn tortilla and topped with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, white sauce, and cheddar cheese with a side of tomatillo sauce. The tacos were great - super fresh, they didn't skimp on the shrimp, and all the flavors and textures worked really well together. I also ordered a cup of NE clam chowder which was good - not the best one I've had but for being in Southern California it held its own. Service was good - I'm seeing reviews of long lines but I think I came at the right time; there are barely a line to order and my meal was served shortly after that. Overall, Blue Water is a yes - I had a great experience here and wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in SD.

The worst part is, it wasn't even polite when they asked us. All the employees were giving us attitude for something they didn't tell us when we arrived, nor when they gave us the high chair. They want all four of us to stand in line instead of sitting at the empty tables. They seriously need training on customer service, at least to show empathy, sincerity and apologize to customers. I guess they don't care because we're Asian and believe they don't need our business here.

The ambiance is modern but it felt warm inside. For a buffet that needs cold food to be at the correct temperature, I do hope they lower the temperature for food safety concerns. We liked that it's very spacious inside with plenty booth seats. In terms of food, I chose this buffet specifically for their crab legs. Unfortunately, they were WAY too salty even though they look plump and fresh. I couldn't eat a lot because they were just too salty and blocked my appetite. What redeemed this place was the sashimi and poke station. They were freshly cut and with their sauce, they tasted so good. My son enjoyed eating them a lot too. Another star dish was their prime rib. We kept eating them because they were so tender. The Mongolian grill was good too but can be a bit salty too. I also enjoyed their beef tendon salad and they tasted really authentic Chinese. I was disappointed at their hot dish section because a lot of them were either too sugary or had too much cheese Mayo type of sauce that I couldn't taste what the actual seafood is. I just hope the kitchen could cut down on the amount of sugar and salt they use in their cooking so we can actually enjoy the original taste of the food themselves. Anyways, their clam chowder was delicious too. They earned the one more star because my son loved their strawberry icecream so much that he went to the station 3times! Overall, it was a nice dinner with family, especially when the kids loved eating the food. I would love to go back to try their lobster night next time.

My platter came loaded with fries, lots of fried calamari, a 4-ounce portion of fish, three very large breaded shrimp and a huge crab cake. There were no negative takes on my meal and the highlights were the fish and crab cake. The fish was lightly battered and was perfectly cooked. Good thing, as we were trying each others' food, my daughter noted the slight texture difference between the two (I hadn't had a chance to taste them yet). Interestingly, swordfish usually has a vastly different texture than bass, but here, they cook it so well, there wasn't a huge amount of difference! That says something since swordfish is usually very "meaty." If my daughter hadn't noticed, I wouldn't have complained even though I was looking forward to the bass. I like flakier fish. However, the bass wasn't as flaky as I anticipated, but both were so tender, the mix-up wasn't a deal breaker. I don't know how they season the rice, but YUM! Even though I'm Asian, I'm not one who usually eats the rice. It's usually just a filler for me, & since I don't eat much, I'd rather eat the "other stuff" & usually leave most of the rice. Not here! I almost couldn't get enough of it, lol! So good!! At the end, we needed boxes. We had to ask two different waitresses since the first one we asked never came with them. It's an "order at the register then find a table" type of place, so there wasnt any "service" to speak of. Be prepared to stand in line - this place is popular for a reason! Parking is a challenge, but worth it. We definitely will be back!

You'll have to park about a quarter mile away and potentially in a neighborhood because there is no parking on the street where Pete's is. I was sold on the crab roll as I'm not a really big fan of lobster. We also opted for the fish and shrimp. The crab roll is a stand out on its own. It had very great flavor and was fresh. I didn't mind the thick piece of bread that it came on, but I found myself just eating the crab itself. The fish and shrimp were actually quite nice and fresh. The shrimp was better than the fish in terms of seasoning. The fish was in desperate need of any type of seasoning. It was extremely plain. A dash of salt, or your favorite dipping sauce perhaps. I did find it interesting that the fish and shrimp plate did not come with a lemon. The fries were not too bad and reminded me a bit of In-N-Out fries when they've been in the bag for five minutes longer than they should and become soggy. They aren't bad, just would have preferred them to be crispier. The patio is covered and although it's small and the tables can feel close to each other the area still nice. For these two dishes, we spent $58.

Although we didn't quite make it for sunset, it was still a beautiful skyline view of SD. We started with the Chicken Lollipops and Roasted Corn and Asparagus Salad. I'm not a sauce person and at first, I was nervous it would be too much on the chicken, but it was perfect! Crunchy perfection and still hot. The salad was very refreshing and loved the small mozzarella balls in it. For entrees, we got the Beef Braised Short Ribs and Cioppino. Both were great sized portions! The short ribs were so tender, perfectly cooked and the truffle mash potatoes were divine! My husband loved the cioppino, delicious flavors, good amount of seafood. Easy and free parking, beautiful and huge restaurant! A lovely date night spot!

Being in the industry for over 30 years, I give a lot of grace to bars and restaurants, but this experience was unacceptable in so many ways. Our cauliflower came out cold. That was fixed and was delicious. We get oysters every chance we get, but something just wasn't right about these and we couldn't finish them. Also, I've never had a shrimp cocktail I didn't like but the shrimp had an odd flavor and a rubbery texture to them like they had been frozen, which obviously wouldn't make sense. Couldn't eat them. Such a disappointment, considering we were AT the ocean. The Caesar salads were under-dressed and watered down due to the wet lettuce. I will say the dressing was delicious, once we received extra. The piña colada was a joke. It tasted like a watered down rum and pineapple with a splash of cream. (Yes, I told my nephew he's partly responsible for ordering a piña colada. Ha!) I have absolutely no idea what they could have put in the risotto to make it taste like kids mac & cheese and come out that color, but it was not consumed. The paella was just embarrassing. Although our server was fantastic and tried to make everything right for us, including bringing a complementary birthday dessert, the final disappointment was when we were slapped with a service charge to help pay for the crappy experience . It is the job of the restaurant to pay their staff a proper wage. It is our job to pay for what we consume and for our service. If this seafood restaurant was in Nebraska, maybe it would make sense, but there is no excuse for the quality, flavor and presentation of the items we were served.
