Saigon Corner is literally located at the corner of the Vinh Hung Supermarket. Our friends were excited to try this restaurant and were kind enough to bring us takeout for us to try. They brought us: garlic steak noodles and the pork chop broken rice dish. The garlic noodles were the star of the show with tender juicy steak complimenting the noodles . The pork chop in the broken rice dish was one of the better bone-on pork chops I have had at a Vietnamese restaurant. Not the largest portions for the price but the food was quite solid and I would definitely get the garlic steak noodles again.
We were doing a Vietnamese theme YELP foodie adventure and this one was second on our list to try. The authenticity of the reviews attracted me to this place. Some of the comments on Yelp said the dishes tasted like VIETNAM... BUN RIEU: 8/10 I really enjoyed the fried tofu and the meatballs. The salad that came with it was fresh but, I couldn't handle the acquired taste of the sauce. The dish was good but, I feel like it could have had more flavor... GARLIC NOODLES WITH FILET MIGNON CUBES: 8/10 I really liked how the filet cubes were cooked medium rare. The meat meet was the highlight of the dish in my opinion... SERVICE: A+ EXCELLENT service. They were very friendly and welcoming. We paid at the counter and asked for Togo boxes... AMBIANCE: 8/10 It really is located at the corner of the super market. There's a nice patio area. I would not recommend coming in a HOT DAY because they have NO AIR CONDITIONING!!! IF you're planning to have HOT SOUP on a HOT DAY then you better be ready for it! SWEAT CITY!!! PARKING: Lots of parking spaces located near the corner of the supermarket... OVERALL: Worth a try! KEEP IT UP SAIGON CORNER!!!!
Tried the garlic noodles with filet mignon cubes at Saigon Corner. Definitely has potential. The broth and flavors were great, and I loved the condiments!!! Especially the garlic, spices, and jalapeños that added a nice kick. The noodles were a bit too soft for my preference, but still tasty overall!!!! Very authentic food, attentive service, and it feels like a nice family-owned spot. Music was a little loud and the space could use some refreshing, but I'd come back!!!!
prob one of the best viet coffees i've had in san diego!! is super strong, but after you mix it becomes very creamy and has a nice sweetness. they have diff foams, but i like egg because it has a nice sweetness that complements the coffee was around $7, so average for one here but was very authentic yummy rating: 9/10
Minus one star primarily bc everything took so long, but really all the food was really good! It reminded me of an eatery in OC that I love to go to. They have a ton of different food options which is probably why their service is so slow. The sea snails were amazing, their squid?mango salad was so good, their clams, the rice roll! Seriously everything we had was so good for San Diego standards (not sure if it's good as the food in OC or back in the homeland of VN) Would def come back, but hoping they get their timing and service together. This is attached to a supermarket, so it's really a no frills restaurants. Very casual with a lot of open tables.
Went to check this place out because my wife and I wanted soup. She ordered the bun Bo hue and I ordered beef rib soup. Service was great but I think the servers didn't speak much English which was fine because we pointed at the items we wanted on the menu. The food came out and it was a good portion. Both our soups were pretty tasty especially when you add the condiments they had. Wish they offered lime to add like all the other Vietnamese restaurants but the food tasted fine without it. I finished my bowl and my son finished his kids meal. The fried fish with the roe inside was soooooo good! Reminded me of China max back then because they were the only one that had that. There's alot to try on the menu so we shall be back. Inside the restaurant was ok. They had fans inside running because of the heat. Nice little mom and pop shop feeling.
The menu keeps changing as they are still figuring out what works and what doesn't work. We came at peak lunch time on a Saturday and our food came out quick. We ordered: -Chicken wing garlic fish sauce: This was crispy and seasoning was right on. We liked how it was fried and wanted to try other flavors but got too full. -Broken rice grilled pork: Loved that they offer legit broken rice, the bbq pork was nicely char and moist. The egg loaf was a bit dry. -Bánh canh tôm cua: least favorite out of all. The broth has a thick consistency similar to egg drop soup with starchy tapioca noodles. Broth wasn't as flavorful as other places and lacking more shrimp flavors. -Crispy fried egg noodle w beef: Can't go wrong with this dish. Crispy noodles with veggies on top. -Periwinkle snails in coconut milk: wow, the portion was generous. I prefer the curry broth to be more curry-like, it was more of a watered down coconut curry. -mussels with green onion sauce: This was prepared nicely. You must dip in their sauce to get the whole experience. For drinks, I got the coconut coffee I tasted the coffee and coconut flavors, wasn't too sweet. My friend got the coconut kumquat. She likes that it was refreshing and they used whole kumquats with the skin. She also tasted a bit of lemon and preferred it to be more sour and not so sweet. Overall, this place gives you a glimpse of Vietnamese street food. I like the seafood items. Reminds me of night market. If we come back, I'll get the escargot just because those are bigger than the snails and less effort to eat. You can enter from the parking lot or through the supermarket.

Came here specifically to try the coffee and was honestly really impressed. First off, the place is super cute. You can enter from the outside, but it's also connected to Vinh Hung Supermarket, which makes it such a convenient little hidden gem. The coffee was strong, bold, and sweet, exactly how I like Vietnamese coffee. It had that rich, authentic flavor without being overly sugary. We tried two versions: the yellow foam was the cheese foam, and the white foam was the salted coffee. The cheese foam was interesting because it honestly reminded me a little of Cheese Whiz, which I was definitely not expecting. It was still good and fun to try, just different from the cheese foam style I've had at other coffee shops. The salted coffee was more what I expected from a creamy foam topping and was probably my favorite of the two. It paired perfectly with the strong coffee. Overall, this place is really good and inexpensive compared to Saigon Coffee in North Park. I'd honestly say the coffee here is comparable, if not maybe a tad better, here at Saigon Corner. Definitely recommend if you love strong Vietnamese coffee and want a cute, affordable spot to grab one. read more
We had takeout from this restaurant, and everything came thoughtfully packaged. My favorite dish was the garlic noodles with filet mignon beef cubes. All of the flavors were spot on, and the filet mignon was perfectly tender. The com tam suon bi cha (grilled pork chop with rice) dish was quite good as well. I liked the garlic fish sauce that came on the side. It was also nice that the broth came on the side, which paired nicely with the rice. The only improvement would be a slightly bigger portion for the price, but I would definitely return! read more

The fermented fish soup is full of flavors. The fish was fresh. The broth was light but flavorful. The noodle was cooked perfectly. Very authentic and will strongly recommend. read more

Tried Saigon Corner and ordered the dry seafood & pork and pho. Both were flavorful, especially the dry dish with great texture. Pho was good as well. First time trying the cheese coffee, not bad but prob will try another drink next time. Good spot in a convenient location. read more

Tried the Special Rice plate. It has the shredded pork and egg cake that I always like for Vietnamese rice plate. It's good to have this in SD. Will definitely come back again next time. read more

We had some questions about the menu (the pho we saw pics of on yelp was not on the menu) but the server did not speak much English. There was a bit of a wait for our food as there was a large (10+) party that was being served at the same time. However the food came out hot and was quite tasty. Favorite of the bunch was definitely the very unique shrimp and crab udon, would definitely come back in for that. Typical casual dine in vibes inside. read more

I ordered bún mắm and it was just okay. For $18, it should have more noodles. The bitter melon was undercooked, it was hard and not soft. The broth flavor was okay. Pretty spacey inside. Service could have been better. No one came to check on us once the food was out. read more
Located on the side of Vinh Hung Supermarket. Only saw 2 elderly couple dining in. Saw them advertised on FB that they would be serving Chao Long (Pork Offal Porridge) every Thursday and Friday so I stopped in to order togo. Not very many places make this hearty soup. 1st thing I noticed is that it wasn't even that hot when I got home and I only live 5 mins away. Had to reheat it in the microwave. They give a decent amount of offal for 1 bowl and it didn't have a bad taste or odor. Overall 2.5 out of 5. Nothing too special. I wouldn't order it again for almost $17 a bowl. TBH I haven't heard a lot good things about this place but supposedly they recently changed up their menu and they're trying to see what works best for them. Hopefully they can do better. Otherwise, they won't last just like the previous owners. read more
Saigon Corner is the replacement for another Vietnamese eatery that had occupied a corner annex to the Vinh Hung Supermarket in the Village at Mira Mesa. The space was connected to the market through a corridor filled with other vendors. About 50 customers could be seated in the dining area which also had a small karaoke/stage setup next to the main entrance leading outside. Several menu screens were mounted behind the service counter, but I found it easier to read from the takeout menu. The listings were in numeric order, but they didn't seem to follow any logical progression. There was a mix of appetizers, soups, small plates, and entrees on the internal pages. The beverages and desserts were located on the external pages. I selected the Fish Balls with Garlic as a starter and the Garlic Butter Noodles with Crawfish as a main dish. There were three skewers each speared with three fish balls that were sprinkled with garlic seasoning. The exterior was chewy while the inside was not as firm as I expected for the ground up fish. The noodles were served with chopped onions and several pieces of crawfish. A side salad was also added to the dish. The noodles were buttery yet I didn't find the garlic flavor to be strong. The portion size was mediocre for the $17.95 price. read more
If you want Vietnamese food, this place isnt it! Well, actually if you want a decent or an edible meal this isnt the place for you! However, if you are harving and this happened to be the place where you consume your first meal for the day, maybe this is ok, after all how can you go wrong with Rice, right? Well... I was wrong, I opt'd for the broken rice with the sardine/egg, rice was too hard! The sardine was still cold even on the sizzling iron plate. It was like straight from the can to the table. The chicken rice was OMG, how THE HECK can a restaurant serve this OVER fried superdry no taste stale chicken... Should have followed my instinct walk out when there's no customers during dinner time on a Saturday. Why the 2 stars? 1* for the atmosphere, 1* for accepting credit card w/o extra fee. read more

Had cravings for banh cuon and my usual spot was closed, so decided to give this place another try. For a Wednesday afternoon, it was super empty, but I had called my order in so it was ready when I arrived. I decided to add a coconut coffee, which took a while to make. Worth the wait but definitely something to consider if I'm in a rush. It had great flavor, perfectly sweet and had toasted coconut on the top with jelly at the bottom, and definitely had lot of caffeine! The banh cuon I got was the traditional one with the pork loaf. It was good, but I feel like the ratio of meat to carb was off.. I would've liked either a little less rice sheet or more meat. The fish sauce it came with was good and it was a good portion. They have a pretty extensive menu that I would like to come back to try one day though! Give this place a try if you're in the area! read more

Decided to come here for a quick lunch after seeing it on a few social media posts from others when the place first opened. Got the beef pho with a Vietnamese milk coffee since it was a cold day. Food came out very quickly and they provided various condiments to add as options. The soup was very flavorful and I thought the noodle was nicely cooked. Not too soft and had a nice chew to them. Would definitely come back here again to try other things on their menu. Overall the restaurant felt very clean and service was great. read more
I normally get a bone-in pho but decided to change it up and Ordered a B10 on the menu with grilled beef and egg rolls. Decided to get creative and ordered a small side of broth. It was good and hit the spot! Went during lunch time by myself and sat at the bar. Service was swift and attentive. There were people seated as it is during lunch time. The aroma from this bowl of soup definitely takes me back to the mother land. The broth is bold and promotes the bun rieu's taste. The rieu it self is seasoned to perfection and the cha has the perfect bite to it and just melts with each bite. I haven't had a bowl like this in a while and yes this is better than home cooked for sure. They must have a secret method to bring out the flavor like this I am truly impressed. This hidden gem is worth a visit its attached to a supermarket. Service is fast and friendly in a very clean environment. Im Definitely coming back read more
