First time here. Found them on Yelp. Giving them 5 stars because for simple reasons. They catered to plant-based/vegan and vegetarian options. We phoned in before driving there and they answered all our concerns and questions. The staff were all very friendly, very accommodating, and the place was organized and decorated. The plating/presentation was nice, and the food was decent. The pricing was also reasonable. The only thing to keep in mind is that parking is a bit limited, and was a bit busy and not as easy to get into--also, the restaurant has you order up front and they'll bring you the food to your table. The water is self-serve. Overall, a good first time experience. We're not from the area but would definitely come back to try more items on their menu. read more

This place was so fresh and delish! The aromatic and herby flavors really hit on a hot summer day. I highly recommend a spring roll or two. Minus one star for lack of service/ambiance. We ordered two filet mignon pho bowls, and unfortunately they were some of the most disappointing pho we've had. The broth was incredibly bland, tasting more like oil and water than a rich pho broth, it was completely unseasoned. When you ask people where to get fresh spring rolls, Goi Cuon always comes up at the top of the list. They used to be at different farmers markets or events, but now, I only know about being able to get them at their brick and mortar location in Hillcrest. It's a small plaza with tight parking, but if you get lucky, people are in and out quickly. I ordered some spring rolls and they were good, but not overly flavorful. With simple ingredients, spring rolls are never overpowering, but I love when the herbs and protein create a nice flavor profile. They were still good, but I think my expectations were a little high given how much everyone hypes them up. The location is within a strip mall and parking wasn't too difficult when we went in the morning. Service was minimal. Rolls are popular as their name is literally spring roll. I decided to go with the special vermicelli bowl instead- pork, chicken, grilled shrimp, and egg roll. I didn't care for the fish sauce or the peanut sauce. I would also preferred the meat to have more of a charred flavor. The plate was average, but I was quite hungry and had no problem finishing it. We did order the special goi cuon to go. The amount of protein was also plentiful. YUM. The only downside (not really a downside) was the type of noodles that were used. They were the thicker noodles that's I didn't care for as I prefer the thinner ones. The vermicelli bowl was beautifully prepared. It came with two sauces: one peanut and one fish sauce. The only downside was the shrimp! They were quite small. But overall, the entirety of the dish was delicious! I will usually get a side of beef broth with my egg banh mi and if that's an indication of their pho it's gotta be good. My favorite thing about the banh mi that I get are the crispy fried garlic pieces they put on top of the egg. Service is solid, nothing over-the-top but never ever rude. Food always comes out pretty fast and it's always good. The place itself has plenty of seating, I've never been there and had trouble finding a seat. It was honestly very disappointing and disgusting. That same night, I called the restaurant to let them know what happened. They asked how I wanted to proceed, and since I don't live close by, I politely requested a refund. They agreed to this, but to this day I have not received any refund for the order or any follow-up regarding the situation. Inside of the restaurant was small but very homey and definitely had a very intimate and local's vibe. Service was fine, not bad but nothing to write home about. Love the welcoming they are making clear that this Hillcrest business is welcoming of the lgbt+ community. I know, not difficult to do in the neighborhood but it's appreciated nonetheless.
