Maybe it was an off night but it was not a good experience for us. $90 for four people which included guac, a margarita, two kids meals and two adult meals. The guac had very little flavor and very little avocado (mostly tomato), the chili relleno was drowned in a boring sauce (couldn't see the chili under it all and the rice and beans were not unique) and the $9 margarita was small and very watered down. Every night in Moab, we walked past this restaurant and there is a line. We finally went to check out the food. There was a 1 hour wait and we finally got seated. As with some other reviewed, the service was great, the servers were attentive and friendly. The food however does not match the great service. The food was very pricey and the quality was not great. I ate dinner here on September 21st (Sunday). I arrived at 5:15 p.m. and was promptly seated in the back section. The atmosphere is casual and A bit festive, with a fair amount of kitchen noise (they like to sell Margaritas, which requires blending in ice) and music. The noise increased as the evening went on and became irritating (I favor quiet). They serve good chips with a rather bland salsa. I added salt and Cholula hot sauce but it did not help. Not bad salsa, just no bite or personality. I ordered the Mahi Mahi salad for $15.99. Cheese and avocados are an upgrade of $2 each which I declined. The salad was large and quite good. There were loads of goodies in it and a fair sized serving of fish. It was seved with a spicy yellow sauce as a dressing. It was excellent. The hightlight of the experience was the Waitress. She was attentive, pleasant, kind and sincere. I was impressed. So I decided to stick around for dessert. I ordered the fried ice cream with mango sauce. Like the main dish, it was served promptly and the portion was on the larger side. It was only $3.49 which was nice. It was good but not great. I might skip it next time. Upon arrival, we waited in the greeting area for 15 minutes before being helped by the hostess on duty. When we told her that we were a party of 8, she said, "I won't be able to seat you tonight." And that was it. We were perfectly willing to wait any amount of time to eat, but weren't even given the option. Overall, I was displeased by the serious lack of organization of the restaurant. The hostess' list had absolute no rhyme or reason. She was calling names from the top of the list, from the bottom of this, as well as walking around asking parties for their names. I gave Miguel's 2 stars because our waiter was lovely and no one in our party got sick from the food. Miguel's suffers from dull food that was nothing like Baja style Mexican food I have ever enjoyed in the past in Baja and in Southern California. We're four friends visiting Moab and the National Parks. We ate at Miguel's two nights ago and we all agreed that our server Collin made the experience one of the best we've had. That says a lot coming from New Yorkers. He seemed to know what we needed before we did, was extremely professional and didn't impose on our dinner conversation. One of the better Mexican restaurants in town. The wait was about 1.5 hours, which was about 1 hour too long, but Moab is known for long lines everywhere and it was peak season. After driving all day this place was an oasis! They even brought a water cup out for my pup! We only got the most gigantic burritos to go. I got the shrimp he got a veggie they were both delightful. Dismal. Two stars is generous. Harried, haphazard service that was somehow both overbearing and completely neglectful. The patron should never have to work around a server. The chips were seemingly store bought and stale, the salsa was weak and watery. The grilled fish tacos were completely unseasoned and the mole was way too sweet and thick, drowning the enchiladas. At the end of the meal (after dirty dishes sat for quite awhile), the busser asked if we were done then cleared the table completely, encluding the water I was drinking. Loved this place! Came here after walking out of Arches Thai Restaurant when treated poorly. This place was just the opposite. Warm, welcoming, concerned for our comfort. Server, Javier was the best. He was so helpful and accommodating. Food was fantastic! From the fresh chips and salsa to the great enchiladas and tacos which Javier customized to our preferences, we loved it all. Our last dinner in Moab left a lot to be desired. My girlfriend wanted Mexican food and Miguel's had decent reviews online. The environment was nice and our server was very friendly, if not terribly attentive. My girl had the M.O.A.B. (mother of all burritos). Quite clever. She loved it and would probably rate it 4 stars. I don't want to unfairly rip this place without hitting all aspects of the meal. I had the pork tacos. Here's where my one stars comes in. It was $16+ for two tacos (you read that correctly - 2). And the tacos aren't extra large or anything like that. They're just your average sized tacos, priced as Andre the Giant sized portions. The pork had absolutely no flavor and was incredibly dry. I've had better tacos at crappy diners in the middle of nowhere. Most everything is overpriced in Moab, but they've got a captive audience, so what can ya do. But $16 for two tacos, some mediocre-at-best refried beans and a scoop of rice that's no bigger than a golf ball is just ridiculous. To be fair here, the rice was the best rice I've ever eaten in my life. I mean that very sincerely - it's amazing. But unless you're willing to pay way too much for food that is sub-par at best, I'd recommend taking your money elsewhere. There are plenty of options in Moab that have much more to offer than the world's greatest rice. One other note....there are no beers on tap. This isn't a huge deal. But if you like a nice draft beer, you won't find it at Miguel's. ****One quick edit. My girlfriend just told me she'd give this place 2.5 stars.
