The restaurant is cozy and truly beautiful. They have lovely, extensive decorations for Christmas. The service was kind and attentive, truly exceptional. Stone Bar is always a fave for us, and we especially like catching Wednesday pasta night, a great deal with soup/salad/entree (pasta centric special menu) for $30. (Some specials have up charges). The soup of the day was a shrimp and corn chowder which we really enjoyed. Their house seasonal salad is always good, craisins and pepitas and blue cheese and a nice variety of mixed greens. I went for the Scampi Fritto a la Marinara and hubs had the Bistecca a la Siciliano. Went for drinks and dinner on Tuesday night. My husband had the ravioli while I had the chicken. Both meals were delicious and plentiful. There were lots of special touches. Also, I really loved that my veggies were not overcooked, like so many places. For dessert, we got cheesecake which had raspberry sauce, whipped cream, iced cream, a macron and a large piece of homemade chocolate with almonds! The staff was great too- friendly and professional. This was our first visit, and our server Katie made it a truly wonderful experience. She took the time to explain the specials and patiently answered all of our questions. Saw this place on yelp as one of the better restaurants in the area, figured my buddy and I would give it a shot. The inside is very dark; so we opted to sit outside. There is a parking lot on the lower side of the building and we chose to sit right at the steps. We're both larger individuals so having to move our chairs to accommodate comings and goings of guests did get a bit old, but now we know. For starters... we ordered drinks - i had the old fashioned. Very, very well done. I had several before the conclusion of the meal. We had stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, which were very well cooked. The cheese was stringy mozzarella just like you see in commercials. For entrees, I had the tower. Meat, topped with seafood, and covered in delicious juices. I also ordered mine with a cup of the french onion soup, which had a puffy pastry on the top. It was great presentation all the way around. The meal was great. My buddy ordered the game entree, he had never tried boar or venison. But he left pleased, and open to new meats. The food was great all the way around. My only real complaint is the seating that we had and moreover the smoking section wherever it may be on the lower parking area; it floats right up to where we were sitting. As a non-smoker, the last thing I want to smell while eating is smoke. So that was a major vibe killer. But we will definitely be back and find somewhere else to sit. read more

Extremely overpriced, below-average food, and slow service. My husband and I split a $50+ dinner and were charged an $18 splitting fee (which was not mentioned before we got the bill). Literally all they did was put half of the vegetables on a different plate (they didn't even cut the meat in half!) I ordered a cocktail ($18) but after two sips had to refuse it because all I could taste was sugar. The vegetables were bland and undercooked. They seemed completely unseasoned (not even salt and pepper, or oil or butter). The meats that came with the meal were either extremely underdone (charred in the outside but raw on the inside) or tasted as if they were just on the cusp of spoiling. Our server was very nice, but it took an eternity to get our food even though there weren't many people in the restaurant. A hugely disappointing experience for everyone in our party! read more

We'd come here once before... Was a great experience prior to this visit. But THIS visit surpassed all expectations- Sat at the bar since we were early for our reservation and had some of the "Happy Hour" appetizers... they were SO good and the service was such top notch, we ended up staying right there and ordered more appetizers instead of dinner. We had the Escargot, Stuffed Mushrooms, Tuna, Spare ribs, Rocket shrimp, Trout and French Onion Soup. Of course copious end of meal decaf coffees and the tiramisu blew me away. My ONLY regret is I didn't get photos of all the appetizers we had... they were gorgeously prepared, presented and every single one tasted amazing. Have eaten here before and had a few good meals but for 200$ to have the most tasteless ribeye steak ever , boring bland shrimp that doesn't deserve its own "night", cold vegetables and cold mash potatoes, flat soda and all in all aside from the waitress being sweet one of the absolute worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. I found this place while away for work. When I arrived I found parking in their lot. I walked in and the place was busy. The hostess said I can sit at the bar. I sat by a nice couple. Kristie and Helene were my bartenders and they were nice. I started with an espresso martini and it was good but tasted more like a chocolate martini. I then got the lemon drop martini and I wasn't too fond of it so got pinot noir instead. I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta for their pasta night special and asked for no cheese. It took a very, very long time for it to come out. Felt like an hour. When it did there was cheese on it. I had to send it back and wait a bit longer. When it did come out and I dug in, it was ok. I had to add salt and hot pepper for it to be more to my liking. The bill was reasonable though. All in all I had an ok experience. read more

She shared a few stories she had in the mountains, and was pretty attentive to us during our dining experience. The ambiance is classic, maybe slightly out dated. The bread was yummy. The calamari plating was nice. I prefer the calamari served dry with an option to dip in sauce, but if you like marinara sauce with it, it's pretty good. Could be a little more crispy for my preference, but you should find some crisp in it. The salad was yummy. Dressing sunk to bottom, so you have to mix it. A bit strong on the vinegar, but pretty good if you like vinegar! My prime rib was delicious. I like a bit more salt, but I think it's generally good for most. Veggies were good, I particularly liked the beets. My gf ordered the ravioli with burrata, but she swears it was ricotta. I forgot to try it, but she's a huge burrata fan, so she might be on to something... The drinks were good. We got a gin drink (not too strong, which I appreciate. You can actually enjoy it) and a virgin strawberry daiquiri. Nice and frothy. This is a great option for couples or a nice dinner. Bill came out to $130 for 2 people, portions were great. I got leftovers for the next day. Parking might be a bit tough, so come with 10-15 minutes of buffer to be safe if you have reservations. read more

Our group of 6 enjoyed an excellent dinner last evening at Stone Bar. This was our first time back since before COVID. I am pleased to report that Stone Bar was as wonderful as ever. All dishes were prepared expertly and beautifully presented. My smoked trout was moist and delicious. The rack of lamb (lamb lollipops) consisted of a full 8-rib rack cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Others enjoyed their tuna sashimi, ravioli, prime rib, filet mignon and generous-sized deserts. Service by Jessica was very helpful, friendly and very attentive. One suggestion to Stone Bar - add a couple more vegetarian options. Selection for one of our party who strictly adhered to a vegetarian diet was very limited. Overall- HIGHLY recommended. It was my first time here a couple of weeks ago - and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a very eclectic, dark, cozy, wood-paneled old-world feel. The woman that seated us, and our server were very friendly and helpful. We started with a delicious fig cocktail and the stuffed mushroom appetizer. While the appetizer did not look super appealing (a bit mono-chromatic) - it was delicious! Both of our entrees came with salad to start - which was very generously portioned, fresh, and delicious. For my main dish - I had the swordfish picatta - the sauce was delicious, and came with shrimp on top, and some perfectly al-dente vegetables and au gratin potatoes. My fiancé went with the Romano crusted chicken with a basil sauce and peppers. Both dishes were dynamic, flavorful and colorful. We were so full we didn't have any dessert (although we were tempted). Recently dined at this storied Bar. Unfortunately, our experience was quite abysmal. My wife had Chillean Sea Bass for $65, not sure what it was, but it was not sea bass. Firm and fibrous, not soft and flaky. Chewy and tasting like cardboard. I ordered Prime Rib special for $65. The size was enormous. Waitress said " Hope you're hungry. Our final night in the Poconos and wanted to make a reservation elsewhere but that was booked. Luckily we came across this place on Yelp and while it is $$$, the menu and the pics posted on Yelp look delectable. We were able to make a reservation on the same day. For appetizer, we ordered calamari and it came with a nice tangy sauce. I ordered the 14 oz prime rib special and I had asked for medium rare. It was juice and cooked to perfection and I'm glad as I don't eat prime rib often. This apparently is a Sat night special. My wife got the shrimp entree and while she liked it, she felt the sauce is way too sweet. My son got the salmon with cucumber and white dill sauce. He really enjoyed the fish and his only complaint was that somehow to cucumber tasted a tad salty. Each entree came with a small house salad and the dinner rolls were piping hot and oozes with butter on the side. All in all, we did enjoy our food and the ambience and wait staff was fantastic. Won't ever go back there and after 3 years ,I haven't.we went 3 or four times a year with reservations. That's 9 times they haven't han my business nor my friends. Wanting to enjoy ur 50 year of marriage , I mage reservations. I received a phone call the next day and asked too tell them the time I wanted to be there. I told the woman I Had told her but was about to tell her again when she practically a liar . I told her again. When we arrived ,she said we were too early and my requested table wasn't ready. 5 min early. We waited 15 min I herd her tell the other girl to not to hurry. Our survive wasn't very speedy and there was no recognition of our anniversary. Maybe 6 or less times isn't much but I' m a big ripper .Poor service doesn't allow for repeat business. I'm going to start out by saying that the food was excellent as was the service, however, some constructive criticism: the entire restaurant needs a refresh. It's too dark; the decor is old; and when you walk in you get hit with a musty smell. Also-the ladies bathroom is right next to the doors that swing out from the kitchen. I got hit with those doors last night while about to enter the ladies bathroom (no injuries! Just a tap luckily). In the ladie's bathroom, the stalls have swinging doors that do NOT lock- NG. Also, I tried flushing the toilet but could not. When I came out of the bathroom I saw our waitress and mention it to her and her answer was "oh yes we know about that when the dishwasher is running you cannot flush the toilet." No restaurant should have this situation. So I'm going to have to say 3 1/2 stars otherwise I would have said 4 for sure. read more
