After having little luck finding my "dream dress" I took my vision to Mika and she constructed for me a couture gown beyond my wildest dreams. Mika is a creative genius who is deeply committed to giving every bride her very best. There's so much to be said about her skill, artistry, and work ethic. She understands so precisely how to work with different fabrics and how to achieve what will make her customers feel like their most glamorous self. Through her expertise and perfectionism, Mika was able to construct a silhouette I never thought could be achieved on my body. I wanted a very specific art-deco-natural pattern that had lots of sparkle. When we couldn't find the perfect fabric for my dress she enlisted artisan's in India to hand bead the entire overlay for my dress. Understanding my style and flair for a dramatic look, she designed a cathedral length veil that used the same hand-beaded pattern from the dress. Working with Mika is a true gift (she's hilarious and a treat to be around) but you have to know it is work. You enter into a creative collaboration and commit to helping make every decision with her along the way. (I had a fashion savvy friend who was also available to come to each and every fitting to help me articulate my vision, which was very helpful.) For me and my friend, we loved getting to co-create with Mika and it made wearing it on my wedding day even more special. From the first discussion about my vision for my gown, to the muslin fitting, to my wedding day... I could not be more thrilled with the process and the opportunity to know Mika and wear her stunning creation. Wedding Photo Credit: Lucie Bulois

What a joy to work with Mika! I had such a wonderful experience creating my custom bridal gown with Mika. She is so lovely, very easy to work, schedule and communicate with and made the process such a fun part of my wedding planning. I looked forward to every appointment! She was so open and receptive to my feedback and made sure each and every detail of my dress was perfect. She is extremely talented. Could not recommend working with Mika enough - she will bring your dream garments to life!

Mika is the most talented person you can ask for when it comes to making customized pieces that are fashionable and flattering to the individual! She's truly the best! I fly from out of my home state to see her because I know I can trust her to make something better than I even imagined! Check out this awesome suit jacket Mika customized for my registration day at Miss USA!

Mika is an amazing, talented designer and seamstress! There are so many reasons she is incredible to work with. Mika is... 1. A talented designer and seamstress- her skills cast over a wide range of designs- from detailed lace to structure, she can do it all 2. Invested giving the customer exactly what they want 3. Always accessible via phone and email 4. Affordable (I had a max budget of $7000 for two dresses- and came in under budget) 5. Very flexible, always catering to my schedule so I could meet her in the evening after work 6. Positive and has amazing energy Mika created the perfect dresses for my wedding. I'll go into more details below, but if you don't want to read through my entire story- just check out the finished products! I am so grateful to have found her! Mika- thank you for contributing to my wedding in such a special way- the dresses set the stage for the perfect glamorous, NYC wedding! And the stress free experience I had with you is so appreciated! My wedding was scheduled for October 1, 2016 in New York City. Wedding theme, NYC glamour. I knew exactly what I wanted. A white traditional, long sleeved creep dress with a low back for the ceremony and for the reception, a red dress that was similar to a Donna Karen dress worn by Nina Dobrev at the 2011 Emmys. I looked through thousands of dresses online and visited 5 bridal salons in Houston, Texas and 3 top salons in NYC- Saks, Pronovias, Kleinfelds and one in Philadelphia- Unfortunately the look I had in mind did not exist. That's when I decided custom was the way to go. I searched online and narrowed my list down to 11 NYC designers that specialize in custom bridal gowns. I called all 11 designers. During the calls, I found 5 of the designers price their custom designs from $6,000-$20,000. I was on a budget so those designers were out. My budget was $7000 for two dresses. I scheduled in person appointments with the remaining 6 designers. First designer visit was great. The designer had a beautiful studio and an assistant, as well as a seamstress. While the studio was glamourous - crystal chandeliers and pretty furnishings, I also knew the prices of the custom dresses were high so they could pay for the fancy space. Second appointment was with someone who works out of their home. Really nice talented designer, but was a little stuffy for me. My third appointment was Mika. Mika does not have a super fancy studio, staff of assistants or seamstresses. Mika is a one stop shop! She sketches and is also the seamstress who brings the design to life. I prefer this- because I knew my vision would not be lost in transition. When you walk in and meet Mika- her positive energy in undeniable. She is so comfortable to be around, and so easy to work with. She listens to what you want and is honest about what looks good on the bride. Once the design is set, she does a test run using muslin material- an absolute must for any custom dress! This is the first step to making sure the dress comes out flawless. A little bit about my first visit with Mika. Mika forewarned me that she has a client stopping by to pick up her dress. The client did come by. She was this beautiful, sweet, young woman who had a rock on huge rock on her hand. After conversing with her, I found out her mother was coming by later in the evening to pick up her custom dress as well. The family was leaving to head to South Africa for their wedding the same week. The bride worked for Ralph Lauren. She heard about Mika from other RL co-workers (I think her boss, and a few others)- all who had their wedding dresses designed by Mika. It was apparent to me that this gal had the means, as well as numerous contacts in the fashion industry, and probably could have had her dress made by anyone. Hearing from this bride, coupled with Mika's incredible energy and after looking through her iPad of the beautiful dresses she had made. I knew she was the one! The entire process was fantastic! It could have been super stressful because I travel a lot for work and ended up moving to Texas 4 months prior to our NY wedding. But Mika made the long distance made it work. As for the days leading up to the wedding, her focus was on me. She worked late into the night working on alterations to make sure the dresses fit like a glove. I could not be happier with the experience I had and the finished product. Thank you Mika for being part of my wedding! You gave me exactly what I wanted and on budget!

Note that I've previously stepped inside the shop to survey the selection, and last night I stopped in for what was only supposed to be a quick moment... The owner greeted me and almost immediately started talking prices. This is $20 dollars and we have that for $25 dollars, but this is a little more expensive, and that's this price. Oh, that fascinator is beautiful on you and you can put it layaway. It was just $79 dollars, mind you. Excuse me? It's such a turn-off when people see brown skin and assume that the purchase would be unaffordable without a payment plan! Not to mention, I started off by noting that I was only taking a quick peek on my way to pick up my Nordstrom purchase. Though I promptly told her that I don't need layaway and I pay for things outright, I had already decided that I wouldn't be buying from there. Her fixation on talking to me about price was all I needed to hear. Nothing disgusts me more than when people make assumptions! I have beautiful vintage hats in my collection, fine jewelry and quality costume jewelry, and beautiful bags that I've purchased abroad. She could've had a repeat customer who prioritizes quality goods and, more importantly, quality service.

My order arrived with missing items despite paying oversized shipping and waiting days for delivery. Since then, I've been stuck in an endless cycle of apologies with almost no action. After nearly a week of emailing back and forth, I was asked to provide my order details again. Why? The entire email trail already contains everything they need. Instead of reviewing the case history, each representative seems to start from scratch, wasting the customer's time because they can't be bothered to read their own correspondence. Muji has mastered the art of apologizing without actually resolving anything. Every response is filled with sympathy and promises to "look into it," yet there is no urgency whatsoever to fix a mistake that was entirely their responsibility. Once they have your money, you're left waiting while your case sits in limbo. For a company that promotes quality and simplicity, their customer service is anything but. Poor communication, zero ownership, endless delays, and customers forced to repeatedly chase for updates. Paying extra for oversized shipping clearly doesn't translate to better service when something goes wrong. If you're lucky enough to receive your order intact, you'll probably have a good experience. But if there's a problem, don't expect Muji to treat it like a priority. Based on my experience, their customer service is all apologies and no accountability.

I feel like it's free aromatherapy because they have tons of diffusers going on but never overwhelming. I also appreciate this location is wheelchair accessible. The employees are helpful and never pushy. It has the usual stock of home goods and clothing for men and women, but I don't think this location is particularly large if you're looking for the full array of what Muji offers.
