One of the most solid sushi places in Austin that I tried so far. I had the spider roll, Teresa, dejavú and el dorado. My favorites had to be Teresa and el dorado. Definitely will be trying more sushi from this place.

Always always always always always always deliver and on point at Mikado Ryand Hokkaido Scallops Nigiri and Salmon Nigiri, austin roll, caterpillar roll, mikado roll, garlic edamame (requested nonspicy), hottie Susan, and chorishis fire roll. They have the best salmon nigiri and the fish still melts in your mouth! My favorite restaurant and the waiter employee Nelson is always so kind to us! I have nothing but good things to say about Mikado! I've been going her for years and recommend everyone I know because their sushi is amazing !

Highly recommend this place! Sashimi is really fresh, no fishy odor. Service is outstanding. Staff are attentive, courteous, and very professional. They gave us free miso soup and complimentary margarita when moscow mule was not available. Margarita was really good, which I found surprising for a Japanese restaurant. Ambiance is clean, minimalistic, spacious, peaceful. Great place to eat lunch/dinner with friends, coworkers, and family.

Great sushi place I'm Austin. Nigeria sushi was cut pretty thick and the service I received was really great. Plenty of sushi roll options and the appetizers were great. It's hard to find good sushi restaurants, but this place is worth trying out!

Tried this place on a late Sunday evening. It's set a little off the frontage road tucked in a small shopping complex area. Service was quick, friendly, and top notch. We tried three sushi rolls off the menu, Kyoto, Big n Easy and Hottie Susan. All of them had spicy elements according to the menu. They were good rolls, I personally would've liked a bit more spice behind the bites but overall delicious rolls. I would happily try this place again to check out other menu items. Prices are comparable to many other sushi places in town and it's a great quaint spot to check out.

Food is always delicious here! Service is amazing, the staff goes the extra mile to make sure you feel at home. The waiter and chefs are always joking. It is very calm space with eclectic art.

Came here yesterday (Saturday night) with a fairly large group. It was spur of the moment and we had been turned down by two other packed sushi spots for walk in. With that being said, it was very nice of them to take our group! They were clearly very understaffed. We waited about 10 minutes at the host desk with a very long line behind us. It looked like there was maybe only two waiters in the entire establishment. This isn't meant as a knock on them, our group was patient and definitely appreciated them taking us even more. The waiter was kind and apologetic. It was obvious he was doing the best he could to remember multiple orders in a timely manner. The restaurant itself had low lighting and was slightly on the fancier side. Not so fancy that you couldn't go causally, but it was nice. Despite the wait, the food was very good! I ordered the Mikado Combo Dinner which had a nice layout of sashimi, nigiri and your choice of speciality roll. I picked the Shaggy Dog, which had tempura shrimp, avocado and crab stick with a generous amount of spicy Mayo and crunchy's on top! The fish was very fresh and everything tasted great. We had Crab Puffs that came out crunchy, tasty and very hot. Overall, I would return since the food was good. I am super curious to see how they function as a fully staffed restaurant.

nigiri: salmon, ocean trout, sea bass, escolar, tuna

nigiri is solid mid/high mid tempura was absolute garbage trash though in what world would their small ass shrimp be "jumbo", i dont know batter laid on so thick for that much tempura they were pretty stingy with the tempura sauce doesn't matter though, so GREASY drenched in oil has to toss it. waste if money $99 for all pictured + the spicy hamachi crudo which is not pictured the tempura was seriously garbage but everything else was solid

This place rocks. Not only the food is top quality and artistic but the service is incredible. Thank you for being there for us while we are going through the tough time. Jenny is the owner and she was serving all tables since she was having hard time to find servers these days. Sorry that you have to go through this but we are so happy to meet you and serve us.

Fish was rotten , smelly and inedible. Plate looked like it had fallen on the floor. Rolls were soggy and rice was gooey. Ordered spicy Susan and crouching tiger roll. Could not eat in fear of food poisoning. Highly dissatisfied in my order. Food quality of these rolls is unacceptable and a waste of my money

We had a reservation and the host sat us down immediately and was so friendly. Our server was there right away. Her service was just perfect ... friendly and not over the top. She was knowledgeable about the dishes and gave us suggestions. We had a mockingbird mocktail and my son a soda. The drink was perfect. We ordered the whipped feta, falafel and beef Lamb kefta. Everything came out really quickly. The falafel was absolutely delicious. The whipped feta was a hit with my son. The kefta was a little disappointing. A little bland and dry. I ordered the pannacotta my son the chocolate chocolate cake. I absolutely loved mine with the sorbet on top. My son loved his cake. Atmosphere wise the restaurant is beautiful and cozy and grand but the only complaint would be the music was too loud and it was hard to hold a conversation. For me it doesn't match a nice restaurant but rather a bar concept I would say it was great service and great food

But this most recent time we came for lunch left us with a bit of a sour taste in our mouth. Everything started out strong, the waitress was super engaging, and attentive. Food was really tasty (as always), and came out quickly. As we started to get to the middle and end of our meal thats when things started to go down hill. The waitress didn't come by to refill our waters, I had to ask the staff. And then we were sitting around for about 30 minutes to ask for boxes, and even the check. I am not entirely sure what happened to the server, maybe they got distracted or got busy. But Aba is an expensive meal, and I expect more from this kind of establishment.

They have happy hour 5-6 pm and we got the hummus half off! The hummus was so good. I love the pepper oil on top that gives it a little kick. It comes with pita bread but if you order more, it's an extra $3. We also got croquetas (ham and cheese fritters). There are four of them and they are sooo delicious!! This is a must get especially if you love warm and creamy stuff. The outside is nicely fried and if you never had it, it's similar to Japanese takoyaki. Although I love it a lot, the portion was just right for sharing because it really fills you up. We also got the potatoes (nice, but nothing that blew my mind) and chicken empanadas that I thought had a strange, sour taste. I wouldn't get that again. I highly recommend getting different tapas instead of the main courses so you can try different things. We were completely satisfied with the meal after getting these but still made room for the orange almond cake!! This was extraordinarily good!! Not too sweet and the cake has a nice moist texture-not dry. It took a while for food to arrive so service was a bit slow. You can also sit outside if you want but we sat indoors since it was chilly. It's a smaller restaurant so it's nice for an intimate meal or date. They have a bar. There's parking in the back, which is where the entrance is. Btw, this is also on inKind so I got to claim $25 off $50.

It was one of those moments were you kinda take a couple of bites, take it in...gently nod your head a couple of times, and softly say to yourself, "yep, yep, that's it". The other taco that made me feel like that was also a ribeye taco at La Buena Barra in MTY, MX. It's one of those things that changes your mood, your emotional state etc. It really was that good. Now that we have that out of the way, how was the other food? Excellent! We have four dishes and I'd would rank them: 1) catchetada 2) (tied) cochinita pibil & ceviche 4) fish tacos Both the cochinita pibil and ceviche were excellent - loved how the meat was wrapped in a banana leaf. The ceviche tasted so fresh with such interesting flavors to it. Similar to Suerte (which I loved) the tortillas are great. The 4th ranked fish tacos were fine, but didn't stand out that much ( and yes, i know, this probably isn't the joint for fish tacos) The space, both inside and out, was beautiful, the service is attentive and friendly (incl. hostess & servers), good drinks. Lastly, I have to say the value - what you get for the price ($15 taco notwithstanding) is some of the best in ATX! We brought our friend's dogs to the outside patio, and the staff even brought out a water bowl for them which was sweet. The food came out at a good pace. They recommend 7 plates for 3 people, but we only ordered 4 since we had a heavy lunch. If we had a bigger appetite, adding an extra pasta or protein would round out the meal nicely. Smoked Gulf Oyster ($18): Four oysters served in a delicious pork and miso butter. I am not an oyster person, but this one completely won me over. The flavor is already perfect on its own, so the peach hot sauce on the side is entirely optional. Johnny Cakes ($16): Six small corn cakes with an egg foam sauce. The cakes were a touch salty, but the egg foam rounded things out nicely. Pappardelle ($24): Oh my goodness, the pappardelle was so bouncy and fresh that we were perfectly happy eating it on its own. That is not to say the smoked wagyu short rib was not equally enjoyable. The meat was tender and beautifully flavored. Texas Akaushi Wagyu ($65): The wagyu leaned on the saltier side, though it may be intentional. What really shined were the beef tallow sweet potatoes in black garlic sauce and chimichurri. They were delicious on their own and did a wonderful job of balancing out the richness of the meat.
