Decided to try this spot when I was looking for Mexican food spots near me work. I eat a lot of Mexicans food, I've eaten at hundreds of spots but have never had an issue until today. First off as I ordered with the lady, I told her a Clásico burrito which in itself is almost $12 with tax. She charged me for a deluxe, after I let her know I said Clásico she decides to argue with me on how I told her deluxe and was wrong. It wasn't a big deal so I took the blame, she then ended up charging me correctly for the clásico. After that I sat down at a table and waited for my food which took a few minutes, first off my burrito was missing the guacamole and sour cream that comes extra with the burrito when you pay for it, that was the whole point of me wanting the clásico. Secondly this is the part that made me write this review after all of that, was the quality of the meat. I'm not sure if the lady specifically was upset and gave me disgusting carne asada but never in my life have I ever had this low quality chewy, disgusting meat. I literally took out all the carne. I'm never one to complain but for $12 I expect a decent burrito with the extra stuff I payed for. It was a horrible experience and I will never go back. I showed some people the carne asada and they agree with me how disgusting it is. I'm not sure how their other meats are maybe they're delicious but stay away for the asada. read more

its cheap and great. the only downside is their location. I Mean, its next to car repair shops. I'm sure if it was in a more open area, people would notice them and leave great reviews for them. I mostly come here because of the all-you-can-drink aguas frescas (natural fresh fruit juice) and chips/salsa bar. Service is decent and the food is pretty good (albeit a bit salty? maybe that's just me). They have a very extensive Mexican menu. You can get anything from tacos to nachos to tortas to mixtas (tostadas with seafood). I realize I just described every Mexican restaurant ever, but I promise it's worth it for the aguas and salsa bar. read more

best Mexican restaurant around (Osuna's & Mayan Tacos can suck-it!) get the torta or burrito (or deluxe burrito if you like it topped with Enchilada sauce and chesse) carne asada is always good, good selection of aguas frescas and bottled sodas (Coke, Jarritos, Fanta imported from Mexico) best thing about this place: Taco Nights! Friday and Saturday it's like 5-10 and Sunday it's 4-9, it's set-up like taco-truck style and they're making tacos, burritos, quesadillas, flautas , all outside and made-to-order, $1 tacos, $4 burritos, $2 bottled imported sodas, $3 imported beer, and it's super chill the guy making the food is really nice and so are everyone else who's working there too, great environment super laid-back, pretty much the greatest thing to happen to Walnut ever ...so they stopped doing taco nights :( read more

$5 Tortas! I got the pollo asado torta, which was big, toasted bread, guac inside, yum! I got the refillable aguas frescas, it was pretty sweet... the horchata and aguas fresas were good because they have free refills. I would like to try a bionico next time. The plated dishes looked really good, gonna go back to try the chiliquiles and machaca because they looked bomb. I like this place. My buddy Ryan introduced me to this place a long time ago, during one of my 'unemployment' episodes (gee thanks Game Industry! lol). The food is quite good, and prices are cheap. Best of all, agua frescas are ALL YOU CA DRINK! This is the first place I got to try Jamaica (ha-my-cah) which is a hibiscus iced tea. Since then, the next time I drank jamaica was when I met my wife, lol! I've had the milanesa, and the burritos. I took my wife and my in-laws her this past weekend and they enjoyed themselves with camarones. My wife enjoyed her fried fish. I had a cheese quesadilla and a carne asada burrito platter (yes I was hungry). The chips are AYCE and there's a decent sized salsa bar next to it. Did I mention the agua frescas are AYC-Drink? There's horchata there too on the AYC-Drink dispenser. An odd thing about them being closed... When we got there, their 'Closed' sign was up. So I was looking to try a different Mexican restaurant nearby my workplace for my lunch break and this one was conveniently about a block and a half down further from Mayan Tacos. I saw all the 4- and 5-star reviews so it's got to be at least decent, right? Yep, after trying out their Steak Picado Plate, I can at least say that it is decent Mexican food. Granted, the casher gal messed up the credit card transaction on my first day there and charged me $96.86 instead of $9.68 but that's ok. I'll forgive that. Francisco, (the manager maybe?), voided that transaction and corrected the accidental charge fairly quickly. I didn't know that buying a drink was an additional cost so that's one thing to keep in mind for those of you who've read the earlier reviews that said that "drinks were free" when you order a plate of whatever dish they have. I just asked for ice water and that's free for sure. The steak meat was cooked just right. Just the right amount of toughness and chewy texture. The tomato sauce that it was swimming in was of a light tomato flavor. I think it complemented the natural meat flavor of the steak. There were also diced green bell peppers, red bell peppers, and onions as well as rice and re-fried beans. The veggies were a bit soggy by the time I got to them as I was devouring the yummy meat but that's ok. The Steak Picado came with a small salad of diced tomatoes, lettuce, eggplant, and carrots with ranch sauce. Nothing special here. It tastes as it should so no complaints. You also get a choice of two warmed up flour or corn tortillas. The Steak Picado was $8.99 plus tax. One last thing, there is a minimum that you need to spend in order to use a credit card and that minimum is $6.50. Thankfully, most plates on the menu are $6.99 and above so you need not worry if you plan on ordering one of the plates. However, if you plan on ordering, say, the burritos ($3.50-$5.50), tortas ($5), tacos ($2), nachos ($5.50), and stuff like that by themselves, they fall just shy of $6.50 minimum. For the most bang for your buck, you might as well just order one of the plates. They give big portions and you also get unlimited salsa and chips at the salsa bar. And if you can't finish your plate, you can always get a box to-go. I believe their tacos are $2 each, which is pricey for a taco. Maybe I've been spoiled by the $1 taco stands and taco trucks back in East LA but I would not pay $2 for a taco unless it's something really special. All in all, I recommend this place and will be back to try out their other plates. read more

Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews. The food is homemade. This place is the REAL THING. Based on only 1 trip..........4 stars is for starters but after a couple of more visits........it'll go up to 5 stars. Homemade menudo, salsas and fruit juices. Great Mexican food. I ordered the chicken burrito with guacamole and sour cream. The meat taste superb. My only little tiny small complaint is that the tortilla needed to be cook just a little longer. I give this restaurant a 4.7. Plus it's got glass bottle Mexican cokes. It's one of the few spots in the area if your on foot walking from a mechanic shop. I hiked it up 1.5 miles to eat here, and it worth it. I am satisfied with this place. Thumbs up. read more

Been going for over a year and has yet to disappoint me. The staff is very nice and the food amount is generous. While you wait for the food you can get free salsa and chips which are really fresh and nice. Plus we wanted to tip them but they nicely refused for us to do so and that all we had to do was continue visiting. Take-out is nice as well. You can still enjoy their chips and salsa because they will provide a bag of chips for you to take with you. For their food, it's filled with goodness. My usual is a burrito with Al Pastor Meat Their meat, juicy and tender and everything comes together nicely. Their rice and beans don't have a strong flavor (which is fine with me because I'm not a fan of beans) so it gives a nice texture to the food. Also the size of their portions is well worth the money. It's not even that expensive in my book. Hats off to this place and if you enjoy Mexican food, this is place is a must! read more

I've been coming to this place for years. Don't know why I never wrote a review. I genuinely love coming here. The people are friendly, the food is great, the prices are reasonable. Usually I get a carnitas burrito wet with green sauce. I also love their breakfast and their soups. Sometimes I just go in for a beer and eat the chips and salsa there. Mikasa is the closest to real mexican food that I have gotten from a restaurant. I have been there once a week for the past 10 weeks and I will definatelly go back for more. Their salsa bar is good though some salsas are just to hot, their fresh waters (aguas frescas) are awesome. I have gotten many different plates but my favorite would be the Chicken Tostada. If you order this you must be super hungry so u can finish it... I barely ate 1/2 of it. But it is honestly-truely delicious. I recommend this place to anyone that likes Mexican Food. read more

Solid Mexican food for a great price. Chips are fresh, drinks delish (esp pineapple!). Spacious, family friendly sit down area. Name is misleading if you drive by-- reminds me of Japanese crystal brand Mikasa. Anyway, Classico burrito is huge even though it's not anything particularly special. The red and green sauces are pretty nondescript but fine. Guacamole is ok, gets the job done. Basically, everything (burritos, tacos, quesadillas, sauces, salsa) is good but not particularly special. Stumbled on this place while getting some work done on my car at a near by shop. At first sight I thought this place was a japanese sushi joint so I was walking it pass it to find something else to eat then noticed the all you can eat chips and salsa and was WTF!?!?!?!?! This is an authentic Mexican place with some homemade food and fresh fruit juices. They spell the name MIKASA which is a cool way to say Mi Casa I guess. I had the posole and it was great not to salty or spicy with some homemade tortillas and oh yeah with some of those chips and salsa as well. Also try the fresh juices before you leave. I've been here a handful of times and the only thing I can recommend is the salsa (chips and salsa bar). Some of the best salsa I've had! I went on a Saturday morning. I ordered the Tamale and Enchilada with rice and beans combination for about 7.99. My plus one ordered the 2 chicken flautas and a machacha taco (not quite sure of the spelling). The chicken flautas were good and the Enchilada was good but the Tamale was not. It tasted like it was made a few days ago and sat in the freezer. Originally, we came for the potato taco but since they did not have it that day. I think we will be back to give it another try although I'm definitely not ordering the Tamale anymore. I'll probably opt for a taco or try something else. By the way, the only meat for the Tamale is pork. Other than that, the service was good and the guac was good. A very homely feel overall. It's probably a mom and pop restaurant. Our total for 2 people was about $16. The chicken flautas were good, but not as crispy or deep fried like the taco stand at Frank & Son's Collectible. This place is just average. The service was okay. The food was just okay. I had beef enchiladas at $8 for the quality was pricey. The enchilada sauce seemed like it was from a can. It was pretty bland, the shredded beef was good, their beans were okay and the rice tasted stale. The upside were the free chips and salsa but I don't really eat that. It was a very quiet restaurant which I appreciated but maybe it was a bad thing for a 2 pm lunch. I was the only customer. They have a B!!!!!! :( The only reason why I had to give this place a 4 out of 5. * On a positive note, the restaurant has gotten a lot cleaner since the last time I came. The seats used to be all torn and disgusting. It's been a while since I've been there and I'm glad it I went when I did! My boyfriend and I felt as if they're really working on fixing this restaurant up, which I'm so happy about because I think they're the best Mexican restaurant in Walnut!! They also switched their hours and are open later now :) As soon as we got inside we were greeted by a worker. She was very nice and also went out of her way to give us a quick overview of their different sauces! We went crazy with all the sauces, got ourselves a bowl of tortillas, and snacked until our food came out. I ordered the supreme burrito with green sauce. My boyfriend ordered an al pastor burrito.
