Osuna's is located in the plaza where 24 Hour Fitness is and always acts as an temptation whenever we leave. Both the exterior and interior has a charming, cozy rustic vibe that makes it feel like a warm, family-run spot. There were decorations for Dia de los Muertos with colorful papel picado adorning the walls. We were welcomed with complimentary chips and salsa, which was a solid start. The sauce was bright, tangy, with a nice smoky depth. We tried the horchata (served in a cute ceramic mug) and the raspberry tea which came with unlimited refills. For entrees, we ordered: Hollenbeck Burrito: This was their "famous" item, so I had high hopes. Visually, it could've used some more attention to the plating. The portion was massive and the pork was incredibly tender. But the flavors felt flat. I kept searching for a kick, an herb, an onion, something. For the price tag and popularity, I expected more complexity. The additional fideo soup (add-on for $3.50) was light, tomato-y, and comforting. Baja Burro (my boyfriend's): Wrapped in a flour tortilla and smothered in a smoky guajillo red sauce, it had a livelier edge the Hollenbeck lacked. The steak was juicy, the onions and cilantro brought it to life... I kept stealing bites. Our server was super attentive and warm. She offered to box everything up for us, even including extra sauce for leftovers, which is the kind of detail that makes a place feel special. Osuna's isn't perfect, but it has a lot going for it: ambiance, generous portions, and thoughtful service. While I wasn't wowed by their most popular dish, I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu. We were starving. Arrived around 3:30 after a day at the Nixon Library. We asked and were seated immediately at an outside table. Clean, nice music playing. Chips and salsa were brought and we ordered guacamole. Wonderful. I ordered the "Hollenbeck" burrito-huge super delicious. My wife got a fish taco and a carnitas taco. Wonderful. This used to be the favorite Mexican restaurant, and it's honestly disappointing to see how much things have changed over the years. Of course I understand prices go up -- that's everywhere now -- but this place used to still feel worth it. You could get delicious rice, beans, and your choice of protein at a reasonable price and leave happy. Now it feels like prices have increased quite a bit while portions and extras have gotten smaller. The salsa portions are tiny, and now they're even charging for soup. They used to have different soups of the day, which made this place feel special and authentic. Now the menu feels much more limited, with only one soup option that costs extra on top of already high prices. What used to be about a $50 small family meal has now turned into a $100 bill, and sadly it just doesn't feel like the same value anymore. The food is still good, but the overall experience doesn't feel as welcoming or generous as it once did. Really hoping they listen to longtime customers and bring back the value and atmosphere that made people love this place in the first place. One other thing to note: there's a fountain area, so be prepared for gnats and mosquitoes depending on where you're seated. read more

Absolutely worth the drive! We live a ways from Osuna's, but let me just say--it was so worth it. The shrimp and fish ceviche was absolute perfection: super flavorful and didn't need a single thing added. Same with the guacamole--and I'm really picky when it comes to guac. I usually end up adding lemon or salt, but this one was spot-on as is. Prices were very affordable, and the restaurant itself is super cute. Our only complaint was the music. It just didn't match the vibe. They were playing a lot of Mexican pop like Shakira, but when we're at a Mexican restaurant, we're hoping for the classics--Ramón Ayala, Vicente Fernández, etc. That kind of music would've made us want to hang out and spend more. Hopefully the music will be better next time, because if it is, we'll definitely stay longer and order more! Also our waitress Martha was the best! She was very attentive, super nice, checked on us regularly. She went above and beyond for us. We recently ordered a Hollenbeck burrito (chile verde, Mexican rice, refried beans, and topped with chile verde). The prices have definitely gone up, and this burrito cost $15. However, it was huge. And, it was delicious! It was enough for both of us, and we couldn't even finish it. Our absolute favorite is their Huevos Nortenos (two eggs over easy served over a tortilla, topped with green chile sauce, cheese, and sliced avocado). It also comes with a chunk of pork! This place is OK at best. The food is nothing to rave about and the Hollenbeck burrito is below average it's just a boring plater, add some sour cream, and guacamole. It's hard for me to believe this is the most order item on the menu. I feel like I have a very good taste in Mexican food and this wouldn't even be in my top 20. The location is clean. The service is friendly no issues with that but in terms of the quality of food it's below average. However, it must be loved since it's been here since 1990. Came here with my coworkers on a Wednesday afternoon. Got their lunch special which came with a soft drink. The taco combo was more beans and rice and less meat. The interior was super nice though; felt like I was in Mexico. Service was quick but eerily quiet during lunch time. Service we waited 25 minutes before we were seated on a Sunday afternoon @ 1:00 they took our orders and we didn't get served for 40 minutes. One of my favorite restaurant, I went there with my friends and family and their soup is THE BEST. The cups for horchata were cool and reminded me of Guatemala, the interior design was very pretty. The lady who's probably the owner was very sweet to me and my friends, I do think the service is a little slow but I'm pretty sure they fixed it now. If ever in Duarte, Max's Mexican Food is great! Osuna's is not great. And they're slower than molasses in winter time! Been here several times ...overdue for a review. First off, it is a clean restaurant for which I always look for at restaurants I frequent. The service is always good. Martha is a great Gal and server who usually waits on us based on time of day we arrive. I usually order the Albondigas soup which I believe is only served Tuesday thru Thursday ? To me it is one of the best Albondigas soup I have ever tasted. I also get the Osunas Salad with shrimp and that also is quite tasty. They have been in biz for over 35 years and that it not an easy task to accomplish in the restaurant biz. I've been in biz for 40 years and appreciate the hard work and dedication that is needed to accomplish this feat. Hope they are around another 35 years. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning and was surprised by the brunch buffet. Lots of different options from sopes to ceviche, pan dulce to pancakes and it all was pretty good. 25/person and I ate three or four plate fulls and so did my boyfriend. The brunch also comes with a mimosa which always hits the spot. It did get busy after 10:30 so if you want to avoid the lines get there early. i took a star off for two reasons : my boyfriend asked two or three different servers for flour tortillas which never arrived and the cafe de olla from the buffet was way too sweet - I noticed a few other patrons ordered it a la carte which may be the way to go. The guacamole was ok, but I thought the cilantro was pretty overpowering which would be bad for those who dislike the taste of cilantro. The chicken quesadilla was pretty dry so we had to dunk it into the green sauce that was supposed to be for the burrito. It somehow tasted better as leftovers. Burrito was GREAT. I have heard many great things about Osuna's Restaurant and even pass by it every day, to and from work (too bad they are not open early enough for me to grab on the way to work). I finally got the chance to try it out with a coworker the other day, which is one of their favorite restaurants around the area. There was only one other table seated when we arrived and another when we left. Sad to see, and hope that business picks up, or if orders are mostly pick-up? Once we were seated, chips and salsa were provided along with our waters. They have an extensive menu and there is something for everyone. I love Huevos Rancheros and will most definitely be back to try it next time! Breakfast is served from opening until 2 pm. Combos include rice, beans, and our signature soup of the day! Chiles Rellenos w/ Flour Tortillas Chile Anaheim stuffed with cheese, covered in egg batter, deep fried, topped with ranchera sauce and melted jack cheese, served with rice, beans and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. Fideo Soup Deep fried angel hair, cooked in a tomato sauce with onions, cilantro, celery, carrots, garlic, chicken broth and chipotle to add a little spice! Everything came really quickly and was delicious! The portions were huge and I even had enough for lunch the next day. Service was wonderful throughout our meal. She was very attentive and very professional. There are both booth and table seating, and even some seating outdoors. Been coming here since it first opened in the 90s!!! Always been a local favorite! Food is delicious, service is on point and the is ambiance nice. From eating here with my parents as a kid, to eating here with my friends from college after long nights, to now eating here with my own kids. I usually come for the Sunday brunch, which has lots of options and reasonably priced for what they offer, which is better than most Mexican restaurants. It does get busy at times, but that just means its a great place, I'd be worried if it was always empty. So people who complain about wait times, just be patient, it will be worth the wait. Also don't show up to a restaurant STARVING, cause you will just be more upset that you have to wait. All in all, Osuna's will always have a spot in the restaurant rotation. We've been coming here for authentic Mexican food since HS and its been pretty much the same. If you're looking for authentic homestyle Mexican food this is your place in the Walnut area. Great for small groups to share or togo. It's located in a strip mall off Amar in the corner next to Native Foods. They have reopened dine-in during covid but currently still only outdoor so seating is very limited. There are only about 6-7 tables max in front. The menu is pretty standard with all your favorites ranges from plates, burritos, tacos. The portion sizes are VERY big and probably shareable or prepare for some leftovers if you don't wanna have food coma after. The must gets on the weekend for breakfast is definitely the Huevos Rancheros: Two eggs over easy, served on top of a tortilla, topped with ranchera sauce and cheese. This totally hits the spot with this classic comfort food. Other recs: Barbacoa entree: Tender pieces of beef marinated in chile guajillo sauce with herbs and spices, slowly cooked to perfection. Served with rice, beans, onions and cilantro and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. This isn't like many other Mexican restaurants where its dry pieces of beef but thick saucy chunks like a stew. If you love homestyle and saucy this one is super flavorful.
