Its been a while since I used them, but they were good at diagnosing and fixing an electrical problem I had. I was changing my battery and put it in backward. Of course I blew out something. I thought it was a circuit board, but after having it towed there (thanks CSAA) they simply replaced one fuse. Problem solved. I thought I had totalled my 2010 CRV. Thankfully not. They were professional, and didnt try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. They could have, and I would have believed them. But they were honest, quick and professional. read more

I am not sure about this one. I took my Subi here in town for the first time after getting it serviced on schedule at the dealership for a decade, thinking I could save myself the hassle of an hour drive to and from the shop. Communication was spotty in the beginning, with me having to call for an update after being told they'd call but didn't. When they finished their inspection and gave me a list of recommended work their prices seemed very high. Heck, I paid over $23,50 just for the labor of putting a new battery into my remote key (something I am certain my dealership would not have charged me labor cost for)! I thought if anything they might be less expensive than the dealership, but no. I've never paid this much for these services before. So I just had them do the essentials and will get my tires for half the price quoted at a tire place, same with my coolant change, etc... Then I will go back to my spiffy dealership for next time, humbled. Oh, they also said my wiper fluid light was stuck "on" and needed to be repaired. That was news to me, not an issue before I took my car in. I said to forget it, since they had just refilled fluid it would probably right itself after a bit of driving. When I picked the car up the light was off. Not sure how much this unneeded repair would have added to the bill. I have to say everyone was very friendly. And I was told special efforts had been made to save me money on parts. Still - I can't afford those prices. read more

Two weeks later the "upsale" alternator quit. I had to use my last AAA call to get my car there. Now I'm dead in the water if I need a tow. I am not happy. Feel all they care about is the money NOT about your well being. This time they didn't offer Uber, so it was probably put in the price of the labor. My car had an intermittent issue and I was about to leave on a long road trip, pulling a travel trailer. A mechanic in another city had resolve the issue partially but it still was doing it sometimes and causing me a lot of anxiety about this 1500 mile trip. First time customer. Had a difficult to diagnose noise in the front suspension of my Honda. I'm mechanically inclined and needed help figuring out the problem. Campbell found the problem and I had very good interactions with Frank the frontman and Mike the owner. Everyone was up front and plainspoken about my options. Repair did the trick, problem gone. The shop is very clean and organized. This is a full service garage that can handle whatever your needs are. I visited several shops since I'm relatively new to Sonoma. Given our experience, I'm quite amazed by the strong reviews of Larbre, and I hope that our experience was an anomaly and not the norm. I give it two stars, and not one, as they admitted that they had overcharged us for services, and also charged us for services not performed. And refunded some of that amount. We selected Larbre in an effort to avoid the insanely inflated prices dealers charge for work, only to discover that they charged 3 times (as in 300% more) than what four local Mazda dealers quoted for the same repair. To add salt to the wound, it ends up that their diagnosis was wrong and we paid them to perform work that didn't need to be done. In the end, our car, having the same issue as when we took it to Larbre, was towed to Hansel Mazda. They were able to quickly isolate the problem, and offer us a few options to fix it. Clearly, our modern car was far above the Larbre's technician's area of expertise. If you have an older, less computerized car, Larbre's might be the place, but, given our experience, I would not recommend them to anyone, ever. read more

Another local automotive shop that specializes in selling tires kept screwing up and forgetting to order my tire after assuring me "it was taken care of" and made me return 6 consecutive days and still no tire! I wish I had known that Larbre automotive sold tires and would have saved myself such hassles with the other place. Excellent Service for my Cayenne! Not only was amazing customer service from the Manager, Frank W., the best I've ever received!, he also has a personality and is educated in his field. Moreover the organization and cleanliness of the front office is all part of keeping records tidy. An important avenue for all Automotive repair shops. Not any I've experienced in the past in Sonoma Valley specifically are kept clean and organized similar to Larbre's! Frank takes pride in his office and gives his time customer full satisfaction for a job well done. Frank and his mechanics are knowledgeable and didn't sell me anything unnecessary. Jose V. is also a dutiful mechanic with years of employment at Larbre's. You know a good employee when you have one. The turnover rate in employees at Larbre's doesn't seem plentiful which is also a fabulous sign of good business ethic. I don't yelp much. Only when really compelled, either positively or negatively. It takes a lot to get me here. Larbre Automotive is the tits. My car was having a hard time starting, and between my work schedule, an impending vacation, and a problem that just started a couple days ago, I didn't have time to make an appointment and was scared I wouldn't be able to get it looked at in time. I called Larbre just an hour before close, Frank answered promptly and friendily (is that a word?), and while not sure he'd be able to get it looked at and fixed before the next day, still offered to have me come down and check it out, because what was the harm in trying? As I expected, the battery was on its last leg. The guys had it replaced in no time while Frank kept me entertained in the office. In and out in twenty minutes with no appointment. I can't thank Frank and the team there enough for helping me out on such short notice. read more

Frank had his Tech. diagnose the problem accurately, and prepared an estimate to repair and time that the truck would be ready to pick up. As promised the truck was ready Tuesday, and the bill was $100 less than the estimate because of Frank's talent of under promising and over delivering. Because I was an out of towner, Frank could have taken advantage of me and didn't. My experience is that it seems like an honest and reputable shop. Their labor cost is 148 per hour, but they undercharged me for time spent, so it was in effect lower than that. They would only put in a manufacturer-made alternator, explaining they want to trust the part. It was about 300 more expensive than a Duralast part from AutoZone, but that's fair and reasonable, and they were transparent about it. Frank and my mechanic who was talking about his old GTI were both friendly and happy to share lots of info. They stuck with their estimate though they let me know it took some hours extra. Positive experience and good shop. They did the promised work at the price I agreed to, and I definitely get the impression they're running an honest shop. 5 stars deserved. read more

My climate control unit wasn't working. The guys at Larbre were able to quickly diagnose the issue and then order the necessary parts. Once working on the issue instead of sticking to the original (and necessary but expensive) plan they thought of a way to solve the problem at much less cost.
