Took my son and his girlfriend to brunch while he was home. This one is difficult to review because the drinks and service were good, the food was so disappointing. My son had a Mimosa and I had a bloody Mary I had to make myself, I asked if they could make it (I've never made one) but the server said no (in a polite and friendly way!) My son took a stab at it and it was good. I ordered the Classic Tavern Dip which on paper, appeared to have tons of flavor. Unfortunately, not only was it lackluster but the chips were not good. Everyone took a bite and that was it. No one wanted to take the leftovers home. A wasted $12. Then my Crab Benny and my son's chicken and waffles arrived. He said his chicken was just ok and should have just gotten the regular syrup because the buffalo syrup was funky. My crab cake was pretty good but didn't stand out against the hollandaise sauce. The offender on this dish was the cold, chewy, fries. The garlic Parmesan "coating" cannot save poorly executed fries - or even fries that have been sitting too long. My dessert loving son didn't even want dessert due to the previous courses - now that is serious. It was a rare instance where no one wanted to take home leftovers. Parking during Sunday brunch is a nightmare - if you go, go early or have someone drop you off! read more

Went here with my aunt and uncle during their visit. I can't really say anything bad about the place. It was very crowded, the service was 50/50 and I only say this because we started off outside and some bees decided to attack us and we moved indoors and the waitress didn't seem to like it, I assume because less tip? We often hit this place about once every 2-3 months. The food and service are spectacular compared to the other Rt. 153 Hixon restaurants we tend to frequent, Aubrey's, Millers, First Watch, Road House, etc. The atmosphere is exceptionally "new" and just doesn't feel at all like a tavern, hence the 4 out of 5 stars, this place is really good but not perfect. I feel like they could step up their game a little with a nicer bar, and a bigger top shelf whisky selection perhaps some upgraded furnishing's (Brass, Dark woods, Red or Blue Leather bar stools) stuff like. My two cents, if you haven't been, GO, you will not be disappointed by the food or the service, but this just doesn't feel like a tavern to me. read more

No surprise here, as other patrons have said it's yummy food, spacious but unfortunately... hidden! Literally behind the front bldg closest to 153. It's housed in the far left space of the 'square'. Parking was packed on a Saturday. I had Southwest egg rolls...perfectly sublime w/ just salsa (a substitute for the dishes' hot sauce) and had a sample of their chili..me & my bestie agreed it needed just a little more garlic, but I really liked the marinated slightly Smokey flavor I detected. Excellent food, atmosphere and service from Kirsten on a Sunday afternoon. What could be nicer than treating my beautiful daughter to lunch, as we took a break from shopping? NOTHING! The atmosphere is Minimalist Industrial Modern in dark grey hues, mixed with bright colors. Booths line the perimeter of the dining room, plus 4-top tables are clustered in the middle. At the opposite side, divided by wood blinds, is the large, horseshoe-shaped bar. Kirsten was our experienced, excellent and attentive server. From her initial contact with us until she closed out our bill as well as brought leftover containers, she cheerfully provided helpful suggestions from the menu favorites while being friendly and professional. While we perused the menu, Kirsten brought our delicious sweet tea drinks and was on top of keeping them filled. Kirsten was available without being overbearing. We obtained the password to their free WiFi and alternately were taking pictures while we watched sports on the TVs scattered throughout. When our food arrived 10-15 minutes later, it looked phenomenal. It was obvious that each dish was made-to-order. And steaming hot. I had the delightfully tender and juicy Blackened Mahi-mahi Sandwich, which was dressed with the most wonderful homemade remoulade sauce, shredded lettuce, red ripe tomato and red onion. The 'side' I chose was coleslaw, which was a fairly large amount, chopped finely and tasted so fresh. It was some of the best coleslaw I've had. I finished my plate. My daughter chose one of her favorites: Fish and Chips. I didn't try them, but they looked just as phenomenal as my dish. She got 5 Atlantic Cod filets, along with French fries and mashed potatoes. She did a review on her experience, calling them some of the best Fish and Chips she's had. This 'tavern' is now one of my favorites for the many reasons listed above. The hostess seated us was super nice and gave us some suggestions what she thought was good. I thought this gesture was excellent and unique. It made our time spent there awesome. She passed out the menus after seating us inside the booth. Kirsten came up to our table and we ordered our drinks which were sweet teas. I was surprised about the sweet tea since this had the perfect brew and did not have a bitter aftertaste. The Fish and Chips were excellent and were delivered to our table piping hot. The breading has some heat was fried a golden brown. The sprinkled parsley on top added some freshness and the lemon wedge served on the side. ~~~ I substituted the mashed potatoes with the coleslaw that comes with the entree. These were the best I have ever had. I could taste the spice from the pepper jack cheese. The mashed potatoes had a smooth texture. ~ Kirsten was good about refills and her suggestions about the entrees. She asked us about dessert. My children and I really enjoyed our lunch here. We were seated immediately and received excellent service (had to wait a bit for refills and our check but it was rush lunch time). I had the Gouda burger with bacon jam, and I highly recommend it and the onion rings. The onion rings are flaky and perfect, and the best I've had in Chattanooga. My son loved his chicken tenders (and the honey mustard was delicious), and my daughter devoured her mini corn dogs. This time I had the chicken bruschetta and it was so flavorful. The balsamic glaze really elevated the dish. It came with asparagus and wild rice but I substituted the rice for a Caesar salad. I really liked the Caesar dressing. I'm kinda picky on Caesar dressing and this one was really good. Had a kick to it. My husband had the mahi sandwich and he really enjoyed it. We didn't have any trouble getting a table on a Friday evening despite the place hopping. The staff was busy keeping everything flowing and were friendly and attentive. The dining room is a good size and there is also a patio for additional seating. There isn't a lot of variety on the menu, but it's a decent selection. I ordered the shrimp & grits and it was tasty (although the shrimp were tail-on, which isn't great for this dish). My wife had the chili which was thick and hearty and she enjoyed it. In the area for 3 days for a local event, stopped in 6 Nov at 1500rs at the bar. Bartender, I forgot her name as always... Short red hair.. was on top of service, was on top of keeping bar clean.. she was on fire! Big dude, bald, beard.. I assume manager was very visible, he had contact with customers and staff, he was paying attention to business. Decor is simple with several tables and a bar area which was crowded on a Friday night but we got seated quickly and Chelsea our waitress attended to our drink needs quickly. After getting our drinks, we asked for recommendations which Chelsea was very knowledgeable of the menu. We greatly enjoyed a rather impromptu lunch here after errands ran over. The staff were very nice and helpful in deciding on what to select. Our waitress was an absolute gem! We tried the Fish and Chips, BBQ Brisket Nachos, and Spinach & Kale Salad. The fish had some hollow areas inside the breads but was still very tasty but, the fries stuck together and we not the best quality. Everything else was really enjoyable.
