Excellent food. Great service. Arrived for Saturday brunch menu, so choices were more limited than what was posted online, but still a great variety. The 4 folks at our table had the brisket hash, fish & chips, a burger, and shrimp & grits between us. Everyone was pleased. Portions were good. Servers were polite, even as we sat a bit overlong visiting. Picked this one out of a hat because I was meeting my parents 1/2 way between Atlanta and their place in KY. The hostess seated us was super nice and gave us some suggestions what she thought was good. I thought this gesture was excellent and unique. It made our time spent there awesome. She passed out the menus after seating us inside the booth. Kirsten came up to our table and we ordered our drinks which were sweet teas. I was surprised about the sweet tea since this had the perfect brew and did not have a bitter aftertaste. The Fish and Chips were excellent and were delivered to our table piping hot. The breading has some heat was fried a golden brown. The sprinkled parsley on top added some freshness and the lemon wedge served on the side. ~~~ I substituted the mashed potatoes with the coleslaw that comes with the entree. These were the best I have ever had. I could taste the spice from the pepper jack cheese. The mashed potatoes had a smooth texture. ~ Kirsten was good about refills and her suggestions about the entrees. She asked us about dessert. This is the 3rd time we've been here and all 3 times we loved the food. I've had something different each time and enjoyed all the dishes. This time I had the chicken bruschetta and it was so flavorful. The balsamic glaze really elevated the dish. It came with asparagus and wild rice but I substituted the rice for a Caesar salad. I really liked the Caesar dressing. I'm kinda picky on Caesar dressing and this one was really good. Had a kick to it. My husband had the mahi sandwich and he really enjoyed it. My children and I really enjoyed our lunch here. We were seated immediately and received excellent service (had to wait a bit for refills and our check but it was rush lunch time). I had the Gouda burger with bacon jam, and I highly recommend it and the onion rings. The onion rings are flaky and perfect, and the best I've had in Chattanooga. My son loved his chicken tenders (and the honey mustard was delicious), and my daughter devoured her mini corn dogs. We split a piece of peanut butter pie, and it was pretty good and a huge slice--couldn't finish it. We will return. read more

Far better was the kitchen: only there once so far for the shrimp & grits, which was very spicy and very filling (and I can eat), The bottle of chardonay came in a bucket of ice and was quite decent. We didn't have any trouble getting a table on a Friday evening despite the place hopping. The staff was busy keeping everything flowing and were friendly and attentive. The dining room is a good size and there is also a patio for additional seating. There isn't a lot of variety on the menu, but it's a decent selection. I ordered the shrimp & grits and it was tasty (although the shrimp were tail-on, which isn't great for this dish). My wife had the chili which was thick and hearty and she enjoyed it. Watching the other dishes passing by, the Fish & Chips, burgers, and nachos looked really good and I think I'll try one of those on our next visit. read more

They have daily specials, but my "usual" is the blackened Mahi-mahi sandwich with the garlic Parmesan fries as my side. You can sit inside or outside. Bar, booth or table. Cool place in Hixson, TN located in shopping center at the corner of Highwatv153 and Hamill Road. Today is my first time here and I will definitely be back! I ordered the Fish and Chips which comes with two sides, the hand cut shoestring fries and cole slaw. Four large pieces of Atlantic Cod, battered and fried crisp with tarter sauce, a boynty of fries and a slighty sweetened cole slaw. In addition to the great meal, I had a draft Shock Top. In the area for 3 days for a local event, stopped in 6 Nov at 1500rs at the bar. Bartender, I forgot her name as always... Short red hair.. was on top of service, was on top of keeping bar clean.. she was on fire! Big dude, bald, beard.. I assume manager was very visible, he had contact with customers and staff, he was paying attention to business. Anna I believe her name was came on at like 1600 as bartender and a younger girl with red hair washing glasses and cleaning.. more incredible service!! They were on top of business. My wife and I went for the first time on a recommendation of our daughter. Decor is simple with several tables and a bar area which was crowded on a Friday night but we got seated quickly and Chelsea our waitress attended to our drink needs quickly. After getting our drinks, we asked for recommendations which Chelsea was very knowledgeable of the menu. We got the Brisket nachos and the black and bleu hamburger with the beer battered onion rings and cole slaw. The nachos were delicious and huge and definitely had to take some home. Ok 4 nights in a row at this place.A different food every night. All delicious. The first night was Morgan as bar keep! Simply Amazing. The last bar keep is Gabby, again simply the best!! We greatly enjoyed a rather impromptu lunch here after errands ran over. The staff were very nice and helpful in deciding on what to select. Our waitress was an absolute gem! We tried the Fish and Chips, BBQ Brisket Nachos, and Spinach & Kale Salad. The fish had some hollow areas inside the breads but was still very tasty but, the fries stuck together and we not the best quality. Everything else was really enjoyable. Get. The. Tavern. Burger. Hands down a terrific burger! I ordered it medium and it was perfect. Nicely grilled with a hint of pink. The fries are more like shoestring fries, which not everyone will like but they were tasty. The restaurant is relatively new with opens for outdoor seating. The day we were there they had the garage door open to the outside, too. The bathrooms are impeccably clean and the atmosphere is a typical tavern feel bit more modern. Was excited to try this place, and it was definitely a popular choice. Hixson has needed some new places, so I'm glad to see this happening! The inside and patio are both really nice. We started off with the wings in their Mike's sauce. These were really good! Good size, cooked pretty well, and the sauce was decently spicy and slightly sweet--very unique. We also got the Brisket Nachos and the Philly. So, both were good, but would definitely make some changes. The brisket was cubed and there were a lot of fat pieces, but the rest was really good! Fresh guacamole, good salsa, bbq sauce and cheese sauce. Would definitely get it again. The Philly was cooked really well, but was pretty tasteless otherwise. The meat and veggies weren't really seasoned at all, unfortunately. I will definitely go back to try some other things and see how it is. read more
