Get. The. Tavern. Burger. Hands down a terrific burger! I ordered it medium and it was perfect. Nicely grilled with a hint of pink. The fries are more like shoestring fries, which not everyone will like but they were tasty. The restaurant is relatively new with opens for outdoor seating. The day we were there they had the garage door open to the outside, too. The bathrooms are impeccably clean and the atmosphere is a typical tavern feel bit more modern. Was excited to try this place, and it was definitely a popular choice. Hixson has needed some new places, so I'm glad to see this happening! The inside and patio are both really nice. We started off with the wings in their Mike's sauce. These were really good! Good size, cooked pretty well, and the sauce was decently spicy and slightly sweet--very unique. We also got the Brisket Nachos and the Philly. So, both were good, but would definitely make some changes. The brisket was cubed and there were a lot of fat pieces, but the rest was really good! Fresh guacamole, good salsa, bbq sauce and cheese sauce. Would definitely get it again. The Philly was cooked really well, but was pretty tasteless otherwise. The meat and veggies weren't really seasoned at all, unfortunately. I will definitely go back to try some other things and see how it is. read more

Located in a strip mall off 153 near Hamill road. Good size place with 14+ bar stools, high tops, tables and booths. They have a full bar and draft beer (+1) and like many restaurants, they have drink specials on Sunday. They also have some outside seating. I was there for a Sunday brunch around 11 or so. Seated right away. Waited on right away and the selection was pretty good for a Sunday brunch except I would not recommend the eggs/brisket meal. It was pretty bad. The meat was tough and fatty. I was expecting brisket that was slow cooked (like a crock pot) and a lot more tender. I think the most frustrating thing is from the time we ordered until we got our food, it too 1 hour and 15 minutes. I like the atmosphere but won't go back because of the wait. If you like fish and chips this is the place to go! On Friday it's priced at 12.00. Four giant pieces of fish and a huge amount of fries. So big that I split it with another person. The fish is flaky and the fries crispy! Pair it with a beer or cider and you've got a great meal. Outside seating, bar seating , booths and tables with televisions throughout the restaurant. Great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. Family friendly, dog friendly and nice parking available. I've also had the cheesesteak here and it's incredible. They have a wide range of food and it is all delicious. They have daily specials which are always worth the price, even the meatloaf is good! Outstanding service and food from a local establishment in Hixson! We came here with high expectations and we're not disappointed. The brunch burger was succulent and tasty and the chicken and waffles had a perfect balance of sweet and spice. This is a fantastic establishment and we will be back! My only room for a 5th star would be because of a slight service issue, our drinks came back incorrect twice. Specifically a Dr. Pepper got swapped for a Diet Coke. We usually love the fish sandwich. This time, the bread was horrible--like from a package at Walmart. The shrimps on my salad were Vietnamese or Thai shrimp, not good at all. Not the usual quality. Last night we decided to get takeout from this place since we'd heard that they have fish 'n chips on the menu. We love fish 'n chips. When I placed the order, I asked if we could substitute the slaw since we already had some slaw at home. Direct quote: "You can switch out the fries but not the slaw." Got the food home and guess what? The slaw was completely dry. It was just chopped cabbage. The fish tasted just a bit "off," but with lemon juice and tarter sauce, it was edible. And the fries were sitting directly under the fish, so they were completely soggy and no longer tasted like fries. They just tasted like wet, fish-flavored noodles. We were nervous as we entered Chattanooga about where we were going to do lunch. Ultimately we chose Mike's Tavern at 255 on a saturday afternoon. We were immediately seated with no wait. The server came with the brunch menu... which ends at 3. So if we put our order in quickly, we could order off that. I asked about the lunch menu, and was told I would have to wait. It was confusing and made us a little nervous. We ordered loaded brisket nachos as an appetizer. Highly recommend it! Best brisket we have tasted so far in TN. It was extremely filling... so be warned. It was so good my wife wanted to get more when we left Chattanooga, but I am getting ahead of myself. The rest of the meal.. burger and fries was good, but not great. The fries bored me, but there were a lot of them. The burger was flavorful and worth getting again. So... definitely give the food 4.5 stars... shaved a little off for the fries. But how was the service? Very good. Aside from the menu mishap, she was spot on and attentive. our drinks never dipped below half. Thats a major plus. All in all, solid spot. We will be back. read more

We went to Mike's tavern for my birthday tonight. We had a wonderful time. I had the beyond Burger and John had had a tavern burger and they were really good. As usual, the staff was very accommodating when it came to health needs and food choices. Our waitress Kirsten went out of her way to make sure everything was cooked to perfection and checked on us to make sure everything was well received. We splurged tonight and got the peanut butter pie and I recommend the peanut butter pie. It was very rich and very good. Had to take it home to finish it. Great American style food. If you have health restrictions on food, this is the restaurant to go to. They will work with you. read more

We visited about 30 days ago. The food flavor, portion sizes and service were all great. My girlfriend ordered a skinny margarita and started feeling quesy before we left. She got sick shortly afterwards, wondering if maybe one of the skinny margarita ingredients had possibly sat around too long, they probably don't serve that drink very often. She was 100% ok before our visit, and shortly after barfing in my truck going home. I want to return but she's hesitant.. maybe someday we'll go back. read more

This is a good addition to 153. The egg rolls were a good starter. There were 2 cut in half for $10.00. Seems like all of the apps are pricy for a small plate of food. I ordered fish and chips & was a little disappointed in how thin the fish was. The tarter sauce wasn't your standard tarter sauce, didn't care much for it or the coleslaw. The Cobb salad was good, it only had one piece bacon chopped up in it. It could have used a few more pieces. The ranch was delicious. But overall this place is cool, and the patio is a nice addition.
