Saw this place on the road, about an hour ago,(we're not from here), went in, ordered take out and left. We were shocked when we opened our containers to find the most delicious food inside! We had the scramble and a breakfast sub. Both cooked to perfection. Non of the veggies were over cooked, seasoned perfectly and large portions. Straight badass (am I allowed to swear on Yelp?). I went here after extremely strong recommendations by locals. I got the Boom King, which I was hesitant about. I usually don't love roast beef or pastrami, but I thought I would give it a shot. Damn, what an ambitious sandwich. This thing had cream cheese, griddled pastrami and roast beef (which had nice little crunchy bits), an amazing jalapeño slaw, and some sort of spicy sauce on top that added just enough of a vinegar kick. Oh, and bacon. Yea, it was incredible. There's clearly something in the water here in Homer, but Mike's is near the top: it's a must visit. read more

Everything about this place is perfect. From the decor to the service, from the coziness to the food. We stopped in today to grab a quick bite before headed back home to Kenai, and it was exactly what we wanted. My husband ordered the Roasty toasty and soup of the day and he loved them both. I had the pastrami Reuben and it was one of the best I've had. Food was quick and we are back on the road within 30 minutes! Will be back. read more

One of our favorite places, and a must stop, to eat whenever we visit Homer. The sandwiches are large, freshly made and always taste great. A couple of our favorites are the tuna melt and grilled cheese with bacon. Everything tastes better with bacon!! Now with COVID, there is no inside dining, you need to phone in your order and they will bring it out to your car. The nice young lady delivering the food wore the appropriate protective gear. read more

I've followed Mike and his culinary journey for more than 2 decades during my stays in Homer, AK. This is his finest presentation to date. He has a stunning variety on the menu so we ordered the Giovanni Italian Sub and an order of Cheddar Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs perfectly over easy. Both were so delicious we were sad to have finished them. Thus, we will return again before our departure. The space is well suited for eating outside on the deck. I stopped in for lunch to go on the way out of town. Stopped at the top of the hill to take in the view and tucked into my lunch. I had the Reuben on recommendation from the very friendly girl at the counter. Oh my On unwrapping my sandwich I was greeted by a work of art. Thick cut piles of pastrami smothered in decadent kraut and gooey cheese on dark rye bread beckoned consumption and their appearance did not disappoint. In fact the flavor exceeded the presentation. Perfect blending of savory with the corned meat and rich gooey cheese. The kraut soaked into the bread but had not yet made a soggy side. Glad I stopped to relish this treat as the warm juices of the kraut and meat ran over my fingers and down my wrist, making a heavenly mess. While I don't recommend this delicious sandwich for eating and driving it is perfect for taking to the Spit, bluff, or your favorite picnic spot and letting it change your world view. Thank you Mike for an incredible culinary experience. This Rueben is in contention for the best in Alaska. The jalapeño cheese pretzel is extraordinary as well. This little place brings big flavor to the table and is a not to miss dining experience in a very foodie intensive community. I look forward to another visit. read more

Mike's is worth a trip from any lower 48 states to Homer! We loved the biscuits with sausage gravy. Simple yet so delicious! The desserts are also very yummy. We had baklava and bought brownies and giant cookies for the road. This is truly a treasure and way better than the touristy places on the Spit. read more

When there was a long wait at the diner down the street I asked Rudy T. if he knew of any other places in Homer for breakfast. He said right down the street is Mike's, it has seating for only ~10 people, but he recommended giving it a try. Myself and the 2 lovely (and a little crazy) ladies with me were very impressed with Mike's! As it was Sunday they had a large brunch menu on top of their regular offerings. It was very hard to choose from what some might consider a small (maybe 15 items on the special brunch menu) menu, they all had our mouth watering. We settled on the veggie scramble, upgraded to use local duck eggs, duck bacon, and a half order of biscuits and gravy. The veggies were a perfect fresh mix of spinach, potatoes, broccoli, peppers, squash, etc. Just the right amount of cheese and 2 sinfully delicious pan fried pieces of toast. So good. The duck bacon was also amazing, highly recommended. The biscuits and gravy were perfect as well. The biscuits were fried to a perfect crispiness and cut into perfect bite size pieces. Gravy was not too peppery or heavy. Fantastic experience and I will be back! read more

My wife and I spent a month touring the Kenai. We were in Homer looking for a little something to eat, we were tired of camp food and found Mike's on yelp. It was one of the best finds we made on our trip. I have eaten Ruben's world round but never have I had one as remarkable as Mike's and my wife's Philly cheese steak was superb as well.
