I found this shop in Yelp and was impressed by all the great reviews. I needed four new tires last November for my Toyota Sienna. I bought the tires from Tirerack and had them ship to Mike's Alignment. Mike called me as soon as he received them. We agreed on a day and time when I can bring in my car to get the new tires installed. Mike was courteous and professional. His waiting area is setup in a way that you can see him doing the work fairly closely. I do a lot of maintenance on my car myself and I like to watch professionals doing work. Watching Mike do the work was like watching a musician playing with his instrument. He finished removing the old tires, mounting and balancing four new tires and an alignment in less than an hour. The car was smooth and straight as I drove home. Kudos to Mike for the quality of his work. His fees were also very reasonable. Mike is a super friendly guy once you start a conversation with him. He has a bold personality and is very upfront. Finding someone who is this good with tires and alignment is quite rare. I will certainly go back to him for all my tire and alignment needs. I first called Mike to find out if I needed an appt before I came in. He said no, and while on the phone I asked if there was any warranty offered with the service. He told me that his Yelp reviews are his warranty, just look. He advertises on Yelp and it seems Mike certainly understands the power of good reviews. When I got there, he commented on the appearance of my car, which is not the best looking car. While he was looking it over, I asked him if I could bring it back if the alignment slipped, he immediately told me that he couldn't help me. He wouldn't even put it up to see what the problem is or if he could fix it - he just dismissed me right then and there. I wouldn't call that helpful. Meanwhile, I went somewhere else right after, and they were helpful, put it up and told me they could fix it, and they did, in 20 minutes. I can't say I'd recommend Mike in any way. He was not helpful in the least. Response to Owner: Hilarious. I laid down on the couch? Who does that? He had no customers when I drove up, but for whatever reason, wasn't able to get to me within a few minutes, so I went to the waiting room as most people do and sat on the couch. If any of you can believe his statement, you deserve to come here. What does, "Not being conservative with the environment" mean? And how was I disrespectful? Considering this guy told me that his Yelp reviews are enough of a warranty, I understand why he is so defensive and willing to lie to attempt to protect his reputation. I'd rate 90% Don't let the low number of reviews discourage you! Mike's Alignment has dozens of consistently postive reviews that go back as far as '05-'06 iirc on tirerack.com 's website (great online merchant for tires). The great thing is that Mike charges a flat fee of $15.00 to install most size tires as of Nov 2010. After taxes and other miscellaneous things like disposal, etc, it works out to about $68-ish for mount & balance for 4 tires. That's the cheapest I could find in the area. It's taken me approx 30-45mins in the past w/ appointment to have the tires installed. I've had 2 sets of tires changed with Mike so far, and it's been convenient, cheap, and the work is good. If you want to have work done on the weekend, make sure to call during the weekday and let him know in advance. Also, rest assured they take credit cards even though I couldn't find any info that suggested they did (at least Visa). Recommended! read more

Excellent service. Very punctual and the quality of work is outstanding. Took my Infiniti in for an alignment because my wheel was slightly off and during my visit, I realized my back wheels were as well. Mike's son did the alignment on my car while he was overlooking his son's work. It's been one week so far and no complains at all. Price shouldn't be an issue because it's extremely affordable and you're definitely getting your money's worth. Alignments should never be left alone or forgotten about due multiple important driving factors, after all having a proper alignment can significantly improve drive quality. Worth the time! So TireRack suggested Mike's Alignment as a local shop to have my car's "pumped up kicks" mounted, balanced, and installed. I'm not a fan of franchise shops, like Firestone or Just Tires because they love to hard sell every service they have and in some cases, lie. Further to the point, it's important that folks support the local indie shop to avoid having to deal with the Firestones of the world and to promote cash flow in the local community (Firestone is out of Nashville and they don't spend their money in North Hollywood). Diatribe aside and due diligence aside, Mike's shop was my choice. The day of ordering, I contacted his shop to ensure he was still in business and also handling TireRack orders. I also wanted to give him a head's up regarding my order and get an idea of what the process included. Mike was very clear with his instructions with the following highlight: "When the tires show up, I will call you to set up an appointment." Wait. Did he just say he was going to call me? I didn't have to do any more work, just wait for his call? That's amazing as I'm not used to having actual customer service. The local Firestone shop makes it seem as if their service is a favor being performed and that I need to be on my toes to help them out. My tires were ordered and the next day, Mike calls. "Adrian, this is Mike from Mike's Alignment. How are you, my friend?" He asked how I was. There was no "Hey, your tires didn't show up dude," Mike was friendly and genuine. After a bit of "I'm good and yourself?" he said my tires had arrived, identifying which car they were going on (he had the details so I didn't need to have them) and wanted to know when I could be by to have them put on. I explained that I could be by at a certain time but was afraid it was too late for him and his shop. He said, "Come by a half hour later than that, take your time, I will get the tires on for you. No problem." That's right. He worked around my schedule, not the other way around. Almost unheard of in his field, according to my experience and my brother who is a certified mechanic who contends one shouldn't trust the average mechanic as far as they can throw their own car. I deliver the car 45 minutes before my appointment and Mike and Lil' Mike (there's two Mikes!) are both there with smiles on their faces. Making the mistake a lot of people do, apparently, I start to chat about the car with Lil' Mike. Lil' Mike laughs and points at Mike and says, "That's THE Mike. I'm Lil' Mike." Confusion out of the way, THE Mike and I have a quick discussion about the car and the tires. Mike offered an alignment, but I explained that the car was just serviced for it's 30K. Mike doesn't lament that fact, he says, "Good! Give me an hour and I'll have it ready for you." My girlfriend and I ventured along Sherman Way, taking in the sights (yeah... the swap meet was inspiring. There's a tattoo parlor in one of the booths. Unreal!) and return an hour later to see my car with the new tires parked, nose to toward the street and ready to be driven off. The positioning of the car is more evidence that Mike goes the extra mile with customers. Firestone has parked my car, head-in, against a wall and had another car parked behind it and tossed me the keys. Mike sets his customers up so they can leave 6 feet of new rubber in his shop's parking lot and not have to make corrections to the steering to get out on the road (don't do burn-outs by the way, it's rude. I didn't.). Small details make a difference. Mike had also taken the one tire I had that had a healthy amount of tread on it and put it in the back of my car. I didn't ask him to do this, he just did it. Again, more evidence to show the man knows his business and cares about his customers. After a couple of signatures and a very affordable fee (4 tires, ~$54 to get them installed), Mike let me know he runs a full service shop. I told him I'd be back in the future, without a second thought. Mike's pleasurable demeanor and expertise absolutely helped take the edge off the fact I had just spent a mint on some new tires (his fees excluded). TireRack was good and Mike's Alignment was better. Once my car is outside its warranty, guess where I'm going? Mike's got my business for some time to come. read more

The first time I dealt with Mike is when I got our Corolla aligned. I mentioned the special Yelp pricing of $45, and he honored it without any fuss. Once the alignment was done, he asked if he could test the battery because he said it seemed "weak" to him. This started to look like a typical up-sell to me. Mike tested the battery, confirmed that it was weak, but didn't "force" me to buy a battery from him. He said the battery he sells are more expensive than others, but they are also better than the cheaper brands. He said that I don't have to buy the battery from him, but recommended that I change it. I ended up buying a battery at Costco for around $65, and installed it myself. The second time I dealt with Mike was when I tried to install OEM shocks/springs on my S2000. I thought I screwed up the install since the car didn't feel right so I took it to Mike to fix it, and get an alignment afterward. Mike took a look at it, and noticed that one of the washers was upside down. He fixed what he could, and said I should take it back home, and fix it myself since I knew what to do now instead of having him fix it, and pay him $120. He could have simply done the job himself and made $120, but he was up front with me, and helped me save money. I offered to tip him for his help, but he kindly declined. I highly recommend going to Mike. He is very honest. He's probably the most honest mechanic I've encountered, and I've met a lot. Note: The only problem at Mike's Alignment is that his lifts are not in-ground so super low cars will have problems getting on the lift, but for 99% of the cars out there, this is the place to go if you want a quick, and affordable alignment. The only reason I went to Mike was his yelp reviews. So I decided to get it out and track him down. His place is really hard to find so use GPS to get there. But I'm telling you right now, as a brand-new customer, I do recommend you see him. Trust me, I am always leery of being screwed over by mechanics so I pay extra close attention to anyone working on my car. I had an alignment check done, Mike found no problems and I paid $60. I don't think it would be right for me to say that your alignment will cost that, because I don't know your car situation, but I felt like it was a reasonable price. Don't expect a decent waiting room to watch TV during the time your car is worked on. If you want that, go to Sears automotive where they will definitely rip you off. :-) read more

I wanted to get my alignment checked. After getting a shakedown at Goodyear, I thought I would try Mikes because of all the good reviews he has gotten. I found him to be VERY honest. He did what I asked and informed me of what he was doing at every step. This is the kind of place that you could send your Mother or your Wife and be confident that he would not try to sell them more than they needed. So I found Mike thru the Tirerack's website as someone that would install tires. Which seems a bit odd as most places wants to sell you the tires and installing them. Asking just for installation most places would turn their nose and ask for some outrageous price just to piss you off. I called Mike and we agreed on a set price for the install. Showed up at his place w/ my own tires 25 mins later (yeah, L.A.'s traffic is a b!tch) and true to his words, he installed the tires on my BMW M5 carefully and professionally. Not trying to upsell me on anything which I find it somewhat off but refreshing. I made a mental note to my self to use him for all our cars (we have 4 cars). Don't let the name fool you, Mike does more than Alignment. He is one of the few honest mechanic around and never try to sell more bullsh!t work to you for the sake of making a few extra bucks. The neighborhood isn't great (well... in fact its pretty crappy to be frank) but Mike runs a tidy shop and never cuts corner. This is your mechanic if you are looking for one. I then discovered that he does way more than tires and alignment and have been going to him ever since for all my car service. I found Mikes alignments in Yelp and was very happy to see such good reviews. My car was due for a tire alignment so I was looking for a good mechanic. I take care of my car because I'm scared of letting things get so bf that it ends up costing more in the long run. So Mike got started on my alignment and came back to tell me that he couldn't do it because my car had been in an accident and he needed to replace a $900 part before he could even do the alignment. I was freaked out! My car had 69 miles when I bought it and I've never been in an accident. I considered letting him do it. But when he told me he had to order the part from the dealership. I called my dad who told me to just go to the dealership. Thank God I had the right mind to leave because the dealership said my car was fine, did the alignment and rotation all for under 120! Installation was pretty straightforward, I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. Went to Mike a second time for some help with a dead battery and he opened the shop just for me to see what's wrong with car. Found out that my chip in my key wasn't working and he called one of his friends to make me a new set. Following day, I came into the shop with two brand spanking new keys. I needed just one tire for my '08 Toyota Highlander Limited. I contacted my usual tire guy, he totally blew me off -- think he didn't want to be bothered doing just one tire. So I hit up Consumer Reports on-line, found the tire that they recommend, ordered it from Tire Rack, and had it shipped directly to Mike's Alignment. A few days later, Mike left me a voice-mail saying that the tire's arrived and I should call to make an appointment. (He actually called me before Tire Rack even e-mailed me the delivery confirmation.) A couple days after that, I happened to be in the area with a few hours to kill, so I stopped by without an appointment, thinking I'd probably have a lengthy wait ahead of me. Nope. In-and-out in less than fifteen minutes. Mike was fast, friendly, clearly experienced and skilled, and gave me no pushy "up-sells." Los Angeles is a mine-field of incompetent and dishonest mechanics, and I'm thrilled to finally find one that's thoroughly professional and has integrity.
