I've been wanting to come to this place, and also Arthur Avenue, ever since I saw the owner, Dave, have an eggplant Parmesan "throwdown" with Bobby Flay. Today, I finally made it to Arthur Avenue. I finally met Dave, the son of the late "Mike", and he was such a friendly person just like I remember seeing him on TV.. He got a chuckle, when I told him that I had re-watched the episode just this morning. The place is in the back of the Arthur Avenue retail market. The place is huge. They have deli meats, sausages, cheeses, antipasti, you name it, they have it. However, I was here for the eggplant parm, plain and simple. You can order it as a sandwich, or as a plate. I ordered the plate. You can also order it uncooked, and cook it when you get home. They have table seating. I ordered the Dish, and they brought it to my table. It was amazing! They peel the eggplant, and then cut it long and thin like lasagna noodles. It was not over breaded, and it was not greasy. The cheese that came with it was savory and delicious, and I loved the sauce, or "gravy" as Italians call it. The Dish was a total home run. It also came with bread, but they didn't give me any butter with the bread. Who cares? The bread was perfect for sopping up the rest of that wonderful sauce/gravy. . I want to come back. Thanks!

This is a really cool place. It is where everyone shops for fresh ingredients. I wish I had access to these kinds of ingredients.

This was our first visit to Arthur Avenue, and we ran into Mike's by accident, as it's tucked into the back corner of a semi-indoor market space. We were immediately greeted with a large menu and a cozy and casual little dining area- and couldn't resist trying it out. We had the homemade style wine, a cheese plate, antipasto platter and calamari and loved it all. For those with sensitivities, one word of caution is that folks can smoke in the marketplace area. Highly recommend Mike's- we would've stayed for more if we'd have known everything they had to offer!

1/23/25: this is THE place for Italian delicacies, sandwiches, hot food, deli cold cuts, olives, etc. and catering, as well. The people behind the counter know their products and are more than willing to help and deliver exactly what you ask for. At too many deli counters the staff can't slice cold cuts "thinly" and evenly. Here they are practically translucent. See the photos. Dave, the owner the late Mike's son, has trained the staff well. I miss coming here on a whim, when I lived not far away.

Lunch here was delicious. I subbed vodka sauce in my sandwich instead of homemade marinara sauce, 10/10. My sandwich was thick and crispy. If you're coming to eat sit at the tables next to the meats and they'll come bring menus and take your order. The menu was huge so ask questions!

One of the few things I miss about the Northeast! This 75 year old deli can be found on Arthur Avenue! Home to the best Italian food in the US! Stop in for world class, homemade pasta, rice balls, calamari and an extensive list of mouthwatering deli sandwiches. The service is quick and the ambiance is no frills, but the food is some of the best you'll ever have! Prices are extremely fair for the portions.

The food is delicious the servers Medina and Brianna are Aces. Don't let the fact it's a deli fool you they have pasta dishes, meat dishes and my favorite to start is the Italian sushi place is what it is a market place but the service and food make up for that

Nothing and I mean nothing here is a standout. It's in a perfect location at the retail market which is a tourist paradise ( used to be) Mikes has something for everyone. I recently had there heat at home eggplant Parmesan plate (small size but great portion 12.00) unfortunately 2 bites in and I'm done. Wry little sauce with no flavor ( I don't smoke or drink) The cheese is the type that will never melt or pull. Like the supermarket shredded cheese. The cutlets weren't fully cooked even after being cooked in the oven. Absolutely horrible.Im very disappointed. This was the 3rd worse eggplant I've ever had. The staff are 50/50 some are very helpful and friendly. The others are straight up get you what you need and keep moving. Would I return? Always do for this and that when I get here early enough. They do make a pretty good Pizza Rustica ( seasonal)

My husband and I have been patronizing Mike's Deli for many yrs now. I pray they continue to be successful in business and quality. We honestly love every dish we've ever ordered. Some of our faves are the "Paula Deen", Cacio e Pepe, and the firecracker calamari. It's so hard with their extensive menu but just know that everything is made FRESH to order. Close your eyes and pick anything! *The dish I would not order again, would be the rice balls. I prefer a rice ball that crisp and hot out of the fryer, rather than reheated. Personal preference

Massive heros and tons to choose from. We split and loved the fireman's special plus the pesto pasta. I'll definitely be back!!

Definitely a must when I stop here in little Italy da Bronx. There in the WAY back on the right. It's a big counter with plenty of food and dry meats.. the service is nice and they want to help you out. So sometimes they do have free samples to try out or doesn't hurt to ask for a taste? The the place is basically a food mall inside of a big, very big auditorium the bars are in front of the place , it's a hugh space , there's is food everywhere inside!

Cheese that I can't remember the name of, but is DELICIOUS, and I could only find at Mike's.

The wait was horrendous, but the prices and products were worth it! A little before lunchtime, there were 3 people behind the counter, but only 1 helping customers. Regardless, I tried a cheese I had NEVER had before and loved it, so went back and bought even more to take home! Couldn't find this cheese anywhere else, so worth the wait!

It's perfect for what it is - a deli featuring a huge variety of salami and other terrific stuff. Today I picked up a wedge of pecorino crusted with walnuts. Intense and wonderful. And of course some cherry peppers stuffed with parmesan and prosciutto, a perfect, spicy wake-up call to the taste buds. But what I go back for, again and again, is an incredible sandwich: sopresetta, mozarella, roasted peppers, lettuce, and tomato on a roll with oil and vinegar. It is the tops, and if Cole Porter had ever had one, he would have included it in his hit song, "You're the Top," along with the "nimble tread of the feed of Fred Astaire," among other blessings the world has given us. Oh - and the roast beef is divine.

From the moment we walked in, it was all that I wanted- reminiscent of the Italian shops and delis my parents would take me to when I was a kid. The ambiance told me right away that the sandwich I sought (the 'Casa') was going to be good....as did the two guys in line ahead of me, one who went so far as to say it would be life changing. Service was great- super helpful and patient as we perused the counter. Wanting to be thorough () we ordered two Casa's....one on Ciabatta, and one on a hero. First off....both bread vehicles were incredible. The hero was crunchy on the outside, perfectly soft on the inside, while the ciabatta was perfectly thin (allowing you to fully enjoy all of the fresh, delicious ingredients), with a golden crust. Just perfect. Oh yeah- the ingredients.... The Casa is filled with perfectly sliced prosciutto, house made mozzarella, sun dried peppers, and balsamic glaze. The balsamic tied everything together beautifully and was a wonderful touch to the sandwich, while the mozz....well...I'll say this... If you ask 10 people on Arthur Ave who makes the best Mozzarella around, and a good number of people are going to tell you it's Casa Della. And I'm here to tell you that their Mozzarella is the truth. It's delicious, creamy, flavorful...it's the kind of stuff that will have you standing in front of the establishment, Casa in hand (and mouth) without a care in the world, or whether or not people are staring at you while you scarf or down. It's that good. Also- prices are extremely reasonable, and you receive a ton of value for your dollar. Casa Della Mozzarella is not just the Casa. They are a fully loaded market and deli, loaded with everything you need, whether for a quick lunch on the go, or to supply dinner or your fridge at home. Captain obvious pro tip: SAMPLE THE MOZZ To put it plainly, this was the best mozzarella I have ever had in my life, and I am someone who enjoys his mozz. It had a delicious milky flavor, was extremely smooth, and had a wonderful salt profile that took it to another level. It was truly amazing. I could go on about it forever, but in the essence of time... Our intent was to order 2 chicken parm heroes, but the man at the counter who gave us the mozz sample recommended the 'Brontese' and after reading the ingredients (Prosciutto diParma, fresh mozz, wild arugula, Sicilian pistachio cream, evoo, cracked pepper) I went for it. Needless to say it may have been the best deli sandwich I've ever had. The way the pistachio combined with the prosciutto and mozzarella-but didn't overtake it, was amazing. So to go along with my Brontese, we ordered a Chicken Parm, and a Bronx Bee (crispy chicken cutlet, hot honey drizzle, fresh mozz, sweet soppressata, hot cherry peppers, baby arugula) and loved them all.
