First and last visit Not busy at Sunday lunchtime We were ignored upon entry and then ignored for awhile when seated 1 extremely rude waitress showed up & took drink order and then overcharged us on bill (When you're calling everyone else sweetie, honey and or darling, and then come RBF us??) 9$ for a tea, a soda, and a water? No thank you (it was fixed) All fried veg options Asked to be steamed, food waitress immediately said no "that's the way he's cooking today" Opted for the salad then 16$ for chicken, shredded lettuce and tomato slices Pork chops over breaded & super fried Steak sandwich was a literally slab of steak on a sub bun, she couldn't even eat it as a sandwich When I asked them to fix bill, she went into kitchen with my card and was in there for much longer than needed to fix a handwritten bill Overall not nice service and disappointing food 60+$ for 3 lunches I get it. If you want fried food, go there. Locals probably will bite my head off. It was not our cup of tea in any way shape or form. read more

In Bartow for work meetings and the local staff suggested Mike's Drive In. This is a local drive in diner that has classic car shows on the weekends. The dining room has been recently remodeled after damage from hurricanes. Service was quick and friendly. We had a large group nine people. We ordered the yellow jacket burger and the grilled chicken salad. Food service was very quick for that many people at lunch time. The chicken was cooked very well on the salad and the burger was cooked to a good temperature. Very large half pound burger. Great local little diner. read more

so I have not been here in years, but my father said it's been here ever since he was in school. So we're talking about 60+ years at least. I'm pretty sure it's family owned and right now they're actually going through construction March 2024. It should be nice when they're done because you can't eat inside so the drive up ordering and waiting is crazy. There's a wait but it's worth it depending on what you get. I got a large cheeseburger and three piece chicken dinner. White meat. I love the batter on the chicken. got a strawberry shake, but it wasn't so good. It Could've been sweeter thou like real milk. Long time Bartow icon has a wide menu for a drive-in "to go" food. Prices are mostly fair but there are high priced items. We enjoyed a large burger and a large pulled pork bbq. Sides were good and the wait was reasonable. Didn't like the price on the $7 shake - it was small and nothing special. We would return to try more home cookin' when in the area. The dining room is finally open after sustaining hurricane damage 18 months ago. It's is beautiful. The renovation has doubled the dining room size. The kitchen is completely partitioned from the dining area. It's all very classy! Our food was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. We had the ribeye steak with grilled shrimp. It was offered with 2 sides for $26.00. The portions were large. Anna was our server and she treated us like royalty. We had a great experience ! read more

This place is absolutely awesome. My biggest 3 positives 1. Great food, delicious gyro definitely going to venture out and try the other options. 2. Love the fact this place during COVID is adhering to the masks on while inside for ordering. I think this is awesome as Bartow is definitely behind the times with its standard population. 3. That staff is fantastic Nicole took my order and what a small world she knew it was a Washington phone number. ( I also told her I would call her out here) Overall this place is definitely 11/10 really friendly employees and great food. I've eaten here since I was a kid, and it's still a weekly tradition in my house. I love the food, my kids love the food. That yellow rice is so freakin good, try it. You won't be disappointed. Solid food. Came here with my daughter for dinner tonight. We were in town and looking for some real, non-fast food and found it. Good food! I've always loved their food. When my Mom worked in Bartow, we used to stop by on our way home to Wauchula and eat in the car. Their yellow rice is the best yellow rice I've ever tasted. I get the quarter chicken, white meat with double yellow rice every time. My husband and our oldest son ordered a 4 piece wing dinner and our middle son ordered the kid's cheeseburger with bacon added and fries. Everyone enjoyed the food BUT the service was terrible. When we walked in, we were given blank looks. No greeting or anything. We sat down and then one of the waitresses came up and took our drink and food orders. Once the food came out, she brought the check along and never came back to check on us. If it weren't for the taste of the food, they certainly wouldn't have gotten the three star rating I gave. Between us we had fried chicken, green beans, French fries, cheeseburger, fried okra, and a gyro. All of it was good! Their ranch dressing tasted like homemade ranch! My husband and I stopped for late lunch on a Friday driving our RV back home to Punta Gorda from a RV Club gathering. On the board for today's "Specials" included 1/4chicken-2 breast's, mashed potatoes, collards & broccoli for $7.25. "Mike's" mom took our order explaining the best value for our lunch choices. We choose the chicken & coleslaw and were not disappointed! That chicken was moist & tender with the perfect thin coating of crispy crust. Absolutely mouth watering. This folks was not your kids KFC dinner. Coleslaw was chilled, crisp, vinegar based without tons of mayo. Again, so yummy. Three other booths had patrons smacking their lips with smiles on their faces. I almost forgot the thick delicious vanilla milk shake-yes! Now, remember it is a drive-in and folks were treated by a lovely polite young woman to take & deliver their orders from their cars! Had a short chat with Mike's mom that was wonderful. She is originally from an Isle in Greece. We talked about the deep blue water in Greece & she is blessed to visit yearly as she is able. "We'll see you again Mike's mom and thank you. We stopped by Mike's for dinner tonight. We are in town for the annual rendezvous. I have food issues allergies and such so I was a little nervous, but no worries to say they took care of me is an understatement. They bent over backwards to make sure that I was taken care of! I love gyros but have not been able to eat them in forever but they made one special just for me! It was amazing!The home made cucumber sauce was the best I have ever had! My hubs had the bbq pork and it was delicious as well. Needless to say this is our new favorite when we visit Bartow. read more

I fail to understand the attitude and rudeness of some of these employees. I had my 2nd encounter with one of these rude employees. If you can't stand the heat get the hell out of the kitchen. You are not the only restaurant in Bartow but, you are short on politeness. I will never patronize this business again and I will advise my family, friends and co workers of my expérience. read more

Sister and I stopped in today for lunch and Wow! I had the grouper sandwich - this fish was cooked to perfection and had very good flavor (I just ate the fish not the bread) the french fries were crispy and delish. The food was awful and so was the customer service. How hard is it to get a cheeseburger and chicken strips cooked right? It took forever to receive our food while other customers were served right away (looked like they were regulars that I guess get special service). I have lived here most my life and have eaten there multiple times and it has always been a disaster (same thing at Mike's Restaurant across town). The servers and management all seemed to have attitudes. I saw what appeared to be the owner swearing at a new girl calling her stupid over and over. The food is great the times I visited. One of the waitress tat took my order apparently was having a bad day. She had an attitude the moment she came to my car. I immediately complained to the manager how rude she was and he said he would speak to her. That is your job to deal with the public and take their orders with courtesy and professionalism. If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. We all have bad days, but don't take it out on your customers. I hope she see's this review and take some courses in customer service.
