B-DAY BREAKFAST ADVENTURE My mother and I wanted to go out for a Birthday breakfast near her house. We found Eagle Lake Fam Diner Walking in it's kinda tight as they have a buffet right when u walk in, next to it is the register. So this entrance area is a bit congested. The dining room is cozy with a good amount of tables. It is a seat yourself place until they get close to full, then they start a waiting list. They have two areas for outdoor seating in addition to the interior. It is definitely a local customer establishment as I saw other tables who knew the servers and sat down after my mother and I, get service first. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable to new customers. I know when I'm at a new sit down eatery. As I walk in, sit down and look at the menu. I'm also looking all around at everything, watching the servers/other guests and taking everything in. Because of this New to me inspection most of us have. New customers just notice more!!! A customer/past industry workers thought: Smaller establishments should keep this in mind. New customers may add to an establishments earnings if they feel welcome and return!!! Back to the experience!!! We waited about 6 mins and then a server stopped by for our drink order. Went and got our drinks quickly and before leaving the table she stated our server would be with us shortly. A couple mins later there she was. She apologized for the delay and took our order promptly. Our drink choices were coffee and water. The coffee was diner coffee according to my mother and was adequate and hot. My mother got a short stack of pancakes and I chose to try their Sirloin and eggs. The pancakes looked fluffy and cooked perfectly. My mother enjoyed them!!! The Sirloin was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly. Wish there was a little more seasoning, but it was a nice cut of meat and tasty. 2 eggs over easy were well cooked and the fried cubed home fries were fresh cut in house. Not frozen like most places. They were so very good!!! The only reason for the 4 Stars is the layout of the place. Older processes in place that if updated they would create better efficiencies for themselves and the customers. From the crowded interior entryway and having to take your check to the register to pay. It creates congestion!!! My experience went as follows. I was standing in line to pay. While waiting I experienced 2 people cut in line b/c of all the shifting people through the line . The reason people are shifting is to allow others through. Whether it be from customers coming in the front door and having to pass the line to get to the dining room. The waitresses grabbing food from the window over the buffet which is right next to the register so you cannot line up in front of the buffet and block it. Then the waitress walking into the dining room. While other guests are walking past to put their name on the wait list, which happens at the register. It was just allot of congestion and a bit of chaos. This was a Remembrance of non tech times of the past. If you know you know, lol Food to value ratio = Excellent. We paid $26.08 for everything and the food was well worth it!!! I will definitely be bringing the rest of the Family for breakfast sometime in the near future. AS ALWAYS TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!!

I love to stop here for lunch while traveling for work. They have a daily lunch buffet for really reasonable prices, but I haven't gotten it yet because I'm worried I would over eat and then be too tired to finish my day. However, I love to come in and order off the menu. The place is usually quite busy when I come in, especially when the snowbirds are in town. The prices are reasonable and it is typical diner fare with a southern spin. You seat yourself and can order the buffet or off the menu. Breakfast is served all day. The fries here are excellent and mine have always been served piping hot. Service is friendly and quick. Great place to stop if you find yourself in Eagle Lake.

5 stars for a greasy spoon diner with an easy going atmosphere. Friendly service and great food! I've only been here for breakfast so I can't speak to any other meal but it's become a tradition for my family to eat here when I come into town from Tennessee. I recommend the grits, toast and eggs! I've had the fired potatoes a few times but in my opinion they need a little more flavor or seasoning. The pancakes are so good I don't even use syrup-I know, I'm weird. But seriously try a bite with just butter! Mmmmm! Bottom line is this place is a jewel! If you're in Polk County it's worth the trip!

To start, the windows overlooking the runway were covered in kids' fingerprints, making it difficult to enjoy watching the few planes. We looked past that, only to be served some of the worst coffee I've ever had. It had a strange flavor, and the rim of my coffee mug was dirty. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and my boyfriend got the Pilot's Breakfast. His grits were completely flavorless with a strange texture, so they were inedible. The bottoms of his fried eggs were gray--possibly from the pan? Either way, he couldn't eat those either. The only standout on his plate was the bacon. My chicken cutlets were tough and stringy. The breading was overly salty, but at least it had some flavor. Thankfully, it's hard to mess up waffles, and those were actually okay. It also took about 25 minutes for our food to come out, which seemed like a long time considering we were the only people in the restaurant. It's a shame because the aviation-themed décor is really neat, especially if you're into planes. The menu is simple, and they even have a cute bar. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem very friendly or happy to be there. As a server myself, I understand how difficult it can be to work somewhere that's slow and not making much money, so I don't hold that against them. However, with food this disappointing, it's not surprising the restaurant was empty. They have the potential to be a great breakfast spot, but they really need someone in the kitchen who can consistently cook breakfast well. Getting the basics wrong is hard to overlook. 1/10

The outside patio is beautifully decorated with lights, tables and chairs and greenery with foliage to create that natural outdoor vibe. There's a main great room and 2 smaller rooms that have seating as well and ambiance lighting throughout for intimate gatherings. The bathrooms are clean and fully stocked with necessities. As for the food, I got the Brussel sprouts salad without goat cheese which was delicious . It was about the size of my fist for $13. I assumed it was more of a tasting menu. My mother got the gnocchi which was described as delicious but lukewarm in temperature. She loved the beet salad however and the side of sour dough bread. My dad got a 13oz steak with potato purée. His steak was good in flavor however he described it as a bit too tough, and could have been more tender. Since he is a retired chef of 40 years I value his input. My other family members ordered the egg yolk ravioli which seemed a bit of a strange combination but certainly worked out in flavor. The labneh that was with the beet salad was also paired and eaten with the sourdough bread which seemed to be a great idea. Unfortunately the bolognese pasta was not tender enough for my family's liking. If you like pasta that way then you should be just fine. Over all it was fine dining and good. If you would like to go to a place where the portions are a bit larger I would suggest another place. But this is a nice casual dining intimate place for any special small occasion. We went on the site ahead of time and our wait list wait was less than what they estimated. I felt like that was a win. Also, our server was both attentive and pleasant and they were super slammed this Father's Day morning. And I need to back track just a little, because that first cup was really good and then they brought out a new pot of the First Watch dishwasher coffee that I have grown accustomed to. So there is that. We ordered two has meals. I got the summer special hash which had a Mexican inspired theme. The flavors were great, especially the queso. The meal was a tad above room temperature which had me thinking it had been sitting. Especially because the over easy eggs were luke warm. The other hash was about the same. Overall the food was not so good, especially for the price. But it was edible and I finished mine and it filled me so mission accomplished. Honestly though no where near amazing and other than it's uniqueness, a visit to Denny's or IHOP would have done just as good and for about a little over half the price. Still though our server was Dynamite and if it weren't for her I would be giving two stars instead of three. If the coffee didn't revert back to its weak state, it might have almost pushed it over 3 starts. Alas, here is where we are.

Our orders were taken; I had the Ruben, BFF had the skillet, and the cuz had a patty melt. I couldn't tell you how long as we were so enthralled in conversation. Both sammies were served with fries and cole slaw. I was so psyched upon the food arrival. The bread on my Ruben was crunchy, perfect amount of corned beef, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing, I devoured it! The crinkled fries were crispy and when I asked for honey mustard for dipping, it was brought out immediately! The patty melt looked equally amazing as did the skillet.
