How many different diners can I try for breakfast in Florida? Ten? Twenty-five? Fifty? I'll bet I'm heading towards fifty! These fine folks are 35 miles from my casa and off the beaten track for me. I was in the area for another reason, and they were calling me. Arriving- their address is 5th Street but think Route 17. The parking lot is fine and there are some solid handicapped spots. Ambience- You enter through the outside patio. It's very nice and shaded but you're still going to be eating with cars whizzing by. That's never been an attraction for me. Inside has got a 50s vibe. Everything is spotless. You see the buffet almost immediately. There is a semi-open kitchen in that you can see part of it from some seats. The menus are laminated to the tables. The men's bathroom was spotless. Customer Service- Maybe 8 stars! Just awesome! My drink arrived within seconds of sitting down. My order was taken within seconds of when I was ready. I was checked on appropriately. My bill was on the table, and you pay the cashier when you leave. Nothing but good stuff to say. Food- Standard American menu with no big surprises. When I try a new place for breakfast, I always get an omelet. This time it was a Meatlovers with potatoes and a biscuit @ $11.99. The omelet was 4 eggs which is a little unusual. I was asked if I wanted my home fries cooked on the grill or deep-fried. That was something new! I choose deep fried. Everything was out quickly. My biscuit (not pictured) was warm and soft. My omelet was just fine. An average amount of meat and cheese and cooked nicely. It didn't seem like a four-egg omelet. Just the usual three. I could get this omelet anywhere and that's not necessarily a bad thing. OMG the deep-fried home fries! Did you see my picture? These are not from a bag but homemade. They were piping hot and just damn amazing! I never had anything like them, and they'll be in my dreams tonight. So, my breakfast with excellent service was easily a four-star experience. B-DAY BREAKFAST ADVENTURE My mother and I wanted to go out for a Birthday breakfast near her house. We found Eagle Lake Fam Diner Walking in it's kinda tight as they have a buffet right when u walk in, next to it is the register. So this entrance area is a bit congested. The dining room is cozy with a good amount of tables. It is a seat yourself place until they get close to full, then they start a waiting list. They have two areas for outdoor seating in addition to the interior. It is definitely a local customer establishment as I saw other tables who knew the servers and sat down after my mother and I, get service first. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable to new customers. I know when I'm at a new sit down eatery. As I walk in, sit down and look at the menu. I'm also looking all around at everything, watching the servers/other guests and taking everything in. Because of this New to me inspection most of us have. New customers just notice more!!! A customer/past industry workers thought: Smaller establishments should keep this in mind. New customers may add to an establishments earnings if they feel welcome and return!!! Back to the experience!!! We waited about 6 mins and then a server stopped by for our drink order. Went and got our drinks quickly and before leaving the table she stated our server would be with us shortly. A couple mins later there she was. She apologized for the delay and took our order promptly. Our drink choices were coffee and water. The coffee was diner coffee according to my mother and was adequate and hot. My mother got a short stack of pancakes and I chose to try their Sirloin and eggs. The pancakes looked fluffy and cooked perfectly. My mother enjoyed them!!! The Sirloin was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly. Wish there was a little more seasoning, but it was a nice cut of meat and tasty. 2 eggs over easy were well cooked and the fried cubed home fries were fresh cut in house. Not frozen like most places. They were so very good!!! The only reason for the 4 Stars is the layout of the place. Older processes in place that if updated they would create better efficiencies for themselves and the customers. From the crowded interior entryway and having to take your check to the register to pay. It creates congestion!!! My experience went as follows. I was standing in line to pay. While waiting I experienced 2 people cut in line b/c of all the shifting people through the line . The reason people are shifting is to allow others through. Whether it be from customers coming in the front door and having to pass the line to get to the dining room. The waitresses grabbing food from the window over the buffet which is right next to the register so you cannot line up in front of the buffet and block it. Then the waitress walking into the dining room. While other guests are walking past to put their name on the wait list, which happens at the register. It was just allot of congestion and a bit of chaos. This was a Remembrance of non tech times of the past. If you know you know, lol Food to value ratio = Excellent. We paid $26.08 for everything and the food was well worth it!!! I will definitely be bringing the rest of the Family for breakfast sometime in the near future. We went for a quick lunch. We had not been here before but I can tell you we will be back. We did the lunch buffet which is a meat and 3 sides and either a roll or cornbread. We both had the fried pork chop which was 2 nice bone in chops. You could have mashed potatoes, butter beans, fried green tomatoes, fried eggplant, cabbage, corn or green beans. We both had the mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes. I had the butter beans and the wife had the green beans. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back. I got the buffet for the first time. I went back up for a second plate only to get charged for another buffet. I asked the server why and if it was a buffet. She said no. I couldn't eat my second plate and ended up leaving. I thought all buffets are all you can eat. It must be a southern thing because all buffets that I've encountered in Ohio are all you can eat. I love to stop here for lunch while traveling for work. They have a daily lunch buffet for really reasonable prices, but I haven't gotten it yet because I'm worried I would over eat and then be too tired to finish my day. However, I love to come in and order off the menu. The place is usually quite busy when I come in, especially when the snowbirds are in town. The prices are reasonable and it is typical diner fare with a southern spin. You seat yourself and can order the buffet or off the menu. Breakfast is served all day. 5 stars for a greasy spoon diner with an easy going atmosphere. Friendly service and great food! I've only been here for breakfast so I can't speak to any other meal but it's become a tradition for my family to eat here when I come into town from Tennessee. I recommend the grits, toast and eggs! I've had the fired potatoes a few times but in my opinion they need a little more flavor or seasoning. The pancakes are so good I don't even use syrup-I know, I'm weird. Family friendly & authentic homemade taste in this little gem! The pancakes have a really great taste. They are soft and very tasty. The sausage links are cooked to perfection! We have been regulars and love it. The food is always the same, good no matter what it is always good. The buffet line is wonderful full, clean, tasty and hot. We love breakfast. I wish they would enclose the lanai for more seating. It does get noisy because we all know it's a great place to eat. Try the pork tenderloin or a hamburger yumm. The bathrooms are clean, kitchen clean. Everything just right. The servers are busy but still remember that you like a slice of onion on you tenderloin. That's another reason we are loyal. read more

However not long after entering the restaurant I observed the owner, Michael hollering and swearing at several employees using the "f" word at least 3 times in front of customers. It is my understanding that Michael, that is a young man to own the restaurant, just took over as his father recently passed away. I pray his young, Immatute mis-management does not cause this restaurants ratings or customer base to decline. No wonder they have trouble keeping a full staff . Truly a family diner - good down home food on the steam table, good sized portions, good prices, good service. There is a menu, but we've never even looked at it - the steam table is always mouth-watering. Vacationing in Florida and tired of the big chain food. Came across this diner that advertised good home cook. Walked in and saw a buffet, everything looked good but my grandson wanted a burger. We order off the menu; grilled chicken salad, fried chicken sandwich, grilled ham & cheese and a cheeseburger. Side orders of fried mushrooms, okra and green tomatoes. All food arrived in a timely manner and was hot. Best part the food genuinely tasted homemade. The only thing better than the food was the service we received from Brittany.
