In short - Mike's Garage did an acceptable job with my vehicle in a reasonable amount of time at an OK price, but failed to present themselves in an organized, professional fashion. In long: I took my '02 Nissan XTERRA to Mike's garage under the assumption that my tie rods were worn/broken, and that Pep Boys had over-charged me for the required service. I was quickly informed by Mike that it was not my tie rods, but that my front sway bar ends were broken. His shop replaced the broken parts, performed and alignment, and charged a reasonable price. After dropping my truck off, he quickly took it into a bay, lifted it, and told me he would call me within the hour. I received no phone call. I called around 2 hours after drop off and was told that the shop was backed up, official invoices could not be drafted, and that they would get back to me within 5 minutes for an official estimate. I called back 20 minutes later and was given a verbal estimate over the phone. I (somewhat foolhardily) gave the approval for work, wrote down everything from our conversation, and waited for repairs to be completed. Upon retrieval of my XTERRA, the approved repairs had been completed and with apparent quality. Mike was very cordial the entire time, although unorganized. I appreciate the work he and his team performed on my truck, and hope that his business continues to improve on the experience that I received today. In the future, I would recommend following up regularly with customers, having an official invoice system in place so that people can agree to paid work ON PAPER, and perhaps hiring a dedicated phone or front desk worker to assist in your organization. I never leave reviews but I'm copying my google review here because this place is the WORST and I'll hate for someone else to go though the same thing I went through!!! Mike acts nice but thats pretty much all he has going for him. I dropped off my car to her my brake lights fixed and a general checkup. After I paid for the extra repairs he supposedly made on my engine, I went to pickup and realized the brake lights were not fixed. Dropped off again and Mike told me it would be done in two days. I waited for 3 WEEKS, every day calling and asking for updates. He even told me 2 out of the 3 brake lights were working, he just had to finish the last wire and it would be done. After waiting for weeks, he told me it was ready for pickup and when I received the car, none of the rear lights were working and my car had the check engine light. I dropped it off again to give him one last chance and told me that it would be done in a day or two. Another week went by and after calling him for 5 days straight, he told me that he's to busy and it would take him over a week more. He is a SCAMMER and LIAR!!! I came across Mike's Garage via a simple Google search on a Saturday morning. They are getting all 5 of these stars for the following: - Being open on a Saturday when most other shops were closed; - Being personable and straight forward on the phone; - Possessing expert level knowledge of the parts they work with; - Being honest about the fact that I didn't need more wheel bearings than I came there for, when he could have easily lied to get more money out of me. - Replacing BOTH rear wheel bearings for the same cost others shops quoted for just ONE replacement using MY OWN previously-purchased parts (wheel bearings came as a pair from Carparts.com). - Getting me a new CV Axle and not adding a single dollar for labor. - Getting my car repair done so quickly that I was only without it for one business day. Ultimately, I had previously had several other quotes ranging from $500-700+ from Tallahassee auto repair shops (Firestone, Pedro's, PAC),and those quotes were to replace just ONE rear wheel bearing on my 2007 Nissan 350z. This guy (Mike) not only agreed to use my own parts, but he also knew that the wheel bearing assembly came as a HUB - with the spindle being part of it (here's lookin' at you Professional Automotive Center quote man); he also knew that it it would NOT require the pressing of the bearings (here's lookin' at you Pedro's Auto shop quote man). I had heard so many other shops tell me, "Well, what if this is broken...?" and, "We really won't know what the car needs until we get in there to see what's going on..." - Mike's Garage didn't play those games with me. I told him what I suspected and he told me what it would cost me. And when he told me that I needed a new passenger CV axle because the idiot that worked on the car earlier had destroyed it in the process, I 100% knew he was right. Because that guy had warned me that he might have done more damage than was there before. That's what I get for trying to be cheap and hiring a random off the street. Lesson learned. I am a young woman living in Tallahassee and I have been taking my car to Mike's for 5 years now. My father works automotive and I ask him for preliminary diagnostics and pricing before I take my car anywhere when I'm having problems because not everyone is honest. Never once has Mike tried to sell me something I don't need or charge me more than something is worth. He services my car quickly and affordably. My car is a '94 and he's one of the few games in town for older vehicles, but he keeps up with the newest car technologies so he really can service nearly everything. Took my car to Mike's earlier this year, 2024 to you have a tuneup, spark plugs, wires and oil change. I dropped off my car and it took about a week and a half and came to a total of $1100 plus initially all was fine but a week later I noticed once I was driving and would come to a complete stop. My car would jerk almost like it was popping popcorn so I took it back to Mike's to see if they could quickly resolve the issue. They literally kept my car for another week telling me every time I called that it should be done the next day and that they were ordering parts and working on it now so after being furious and without a car for another week I came to the shop to just pick up my car, I realize it was in the same spot. This review is based off many trials with Mike's. I first dealt with then over 2 years ago when selling an ex's car. He did a great job looking it over and making repairs that helped get top dollar on the sale of the 01 Saturn. So I decided to bring over my 03 Corolla after TiresPlus gave me an estimate of close to $300 for work. Mike had my vehicle completed in about 3 hours and it was running smoothing. I think it was something with struts and balance (my memory sucks). If it ended there I could easily give them 4 stars. But it's July in Tallahassee and my A/C stops working. I try putting in refrigerant and that doesn't work so I take it to Mike's. Short/long description, I brought it in 4 times for Mike to keep putting in a stop leak refrigerant that cost $8 at AutoZone and charges me $150 each time ($600). Every time he says that he does something else...but there's always a new bottle of StopLeak left in my trunk)? Finally a friends boyfriend said he would take it too his family's shop and figured out there was a leak in the condenser (an area Mike specially said he checked and said there was no leaks throughout the system - after leaving my car with him for 5 hours). I'm done with Mike's but if someone has already told you the problem check with Mike's for a lower estimate. read more

He will literally lie to your face and give you wrong diagnostics for your car. Worst mechanic experience I had. I dropped off my car the last week in December, 2018 and I just went there to pick up my car today (February 28,2019) .. and guess what my car still wasn't fixed almost 2 months and a few weeks later. Every time I called it was "oh it's ready , but I want to keep it another day to make sure it's working to perfection" all lies. The worst part about it , was yesterday when he saw me pulled up he pretended to be on the phone as though he was ordering another part for my car, but this clown didn't even have the cordless phone on, the home screen still had the date and time. I have taken my car to Mike for a couple years, he runs his auto repair business along side of his gas station, super happy and seemingly nice man and can always seem to fit you in at any time. Maybe he takes on more than he can handle and does not check over what his employees say they did. But me, my sister and roommates have taken our cars after several "fixes" to other trusted mechanics who have showed us parts that are either original or extremely old and we're not replaced by Mike as paid for. I think he is more of a quick stop, tire, oil guy and not someone who will thoroughly diagnose your car properly, or as I said, his employees. This review is concerning my husband's car, a Chevy Tahoe. When his car left him on the road, he had it towed to Mike's Garage. About a week later, the car was fixed and returned to him. Less than two days after that, his car would not start. Mike's Garage "guarantees" their work, so they picked it up and brought it back to the shop. During the course of 5 weeks, my husband and I called Mike on a daily basis, and everyday he would say "I'll have it ready by 5 tonight", "Come pick it up in the morning", etc. We did this back and forth SEVERAL times. By my estimate, my husband and I went to the shop 15 times, thinking the car was ready when he said it would be, only to hear his excuses again and again. FInally, after those 5 weeks, Mike admitted that he could not fix the problem, and told us to take it to the dealership. Because Mike's Garage has that "guarantee", my husband requested that Mike tow the car to the dealership, and asked for his money back (over $300). Mike was obliging at first, but we played the exact same game that we did with the car. "I'll have your money by 5 tonight", "Come back in 20 minutes", etc. Again, he and I both went back and forth to Mike's over 10 times during the course of a week and a half. After seeing our persistence, Mike said he would do a Visa Merchant refund, and put the money directly back on my husband's card. Again, we waited. We have made several calls to Visa and to Mike and it has been over a month since. If you value your car, your money and your time, DO NOT GO TO MIKE'S GARAGE. read more

This is based off my experience. I had a problem with my car back in October. He charged me 850+ for parts to fix the problem. A few months later 2 months to be exact the SAME problem I paid him for still persisted. I had to keep coming back to him so he could fix the same problem. I would have to drop my car off for a days at a time just to come back and him tell me it wasn't ready. When I did eventually get my car it stopped in the middle of the street. Come to find out he charged me for new parts but put old parts in my car. Now sitting in March I've Been without my car for two weeks and he claims he's trying to fix the issue. Mike is a con artist.
