Over the years I've been to Buckleys and Surf and had a very good experience. Recently ate a couple times at Lost Cowboy and it was excellent. Mike's Italian Kitchen does not meet the same bar, sadly, for the food quality. The positives were there was plenty of room and easy to get a reservation, the greeter was pleasant and the complimentary bread was very good. The cons: The pasta described as "pappardelle" is not the traditional flat noodle you'd expect. It is wider with a curly edge and difficult to eat. The sausage and meatballs were tough and chewy. Our server was pleasant but I felt a bit taken advantage of, as when 2 of us wanted the same wine, he recommended a bottle and set our expectation we could take home what we didn't drink. As we were wrapping up and chatting, he filled our glasses then walked away with the empty bottle. Neither of us drank those last glasses. I wish he would have asked if either of us wanted final refills before emptying the bottle. So, not likely this is a place I'd return to. read more

We were headed to Nashua Center for the Arts and found this wonderful little Italian restaurant across the street. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a nice bar as well as a dining room room. Hannah, our waitress, was super personable, and very engaging. They had a drink special that was cucumber, jalapeño, pineapple and tequila. It was so great. Hope you had a dirty martini that he said was delicious. We started with calamari. I moved onto the Bolognese over house made pappardelle and he had veal saltimbocca. The veal was pounded thin, it was super tender, and it was over house made spaghetti. Pasta on both dinners was perfectly cooked. The Bolognese was loaded with meat and super delicious. The saltimbocca was tender, perfectly seasoned, very fresh tasting with the prosciutto and fresh sage. We finished with some of the best cannoli that I've ever had. They properly wait to fill it until you order. The cannoli shells were light, thin and crispy. The ricotta filling was perfect. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place when you are in Nashua. read more

Updating my review as this is now "Mike's Italian Kitchen", a rebrand from MT's local. We enjoyed MT's for years with consistently good food and service and finally made it in to try the new format. We had excellent service and enjoyed our meal. Cocktail service was as good as ever, and the restaurant still provides a delicious bread service and nice oil dipping sauce at no charge, Kudos! We started with the meatball in cast iron for an appetizer and found these delicious. Three nice sized meatballs that had good flavor and texture in a tasty marinara sauce. The seabass fish special was very good, accompanied with mafalde pasta with pesto, perhaps too much pasta on the plate! We thought the lasagna was also quite delicious. I had the pasta bolognese, which was supposed to be served with parpadelle, but instead was served with Mafalde pasta. While the pasta was tasty, I don't think that style of pasta is best for bolognese. As far as the bolognese, it was good, but not great. The primary flavor was sausage, which was not the meat flavor I expected. Portions are huge and enough for 2-3 people to share. For dessert we had one of their "tall cakes", a real treat and enough for 3-4 people to share. Overall a very nice dinner, but I will miss the format of MT's. Most important to know is that they no longer take reservations, and it seems popular. That will really limit the times we will visit and we certainly can't plan to bring friends and family not knowing we will have a table. I know others don't mind waiting an hour or more for a table, but that's just not my thing. I hope management reconsiders the no reservation policy. It is the same reason that we hardly visit Surf in Nashua, the sister restaurant across the street. read more

Our visit here wasn't planned as we initially went to surf (the sister restaurant across the street) to dine. Unfortunately it was packed and the wait was long enough that the hostess offered Mike's. She called Mikes and we were able to head over. Dinner was pleasantly surprising. The octopus appetizer had to be my favorite dish I had. We also tried the scallops, cacio pepe, the fish and seafood linguine. I had some overcooked seafood for my linguine and the scallops were over cooked and a bit bland which is why I gave 4 stars. Service was excellent and made our experience even more pleasant. I would absolutely return to try more things. read more

This was a wonderful experience with our friends. Our server was knowledgeable and awesome, the atmosphere was lively and warm and the food was really excellent. I had the Shrimp & Grits appetizer as my meal and I was quite happy with it. The smoked tomato and tabasco pan sauce was tangy and full of flavor. The grits were super creamy and blended wonderfully with the sauce. And the shrimp were tender and perfectly cooked. I can't say enough good things about it. My husband loved his Braised Pot Roast as well and our friends shared a special pizza that they were very happy with as well. Also, the food came out piping hot. Highly recommend. read more

Nice home town place in Nashua on Main Street. A good but not overwhelming menu with many choices across anyone's palate. We went with the Saltimboca and chicken Amalfi with the radicchio salad. Wonderful warm bread was brought to start with dipping oil. Plenty of staff to serve. read more

3rd try visiting this place since Mike changed to all Italian. We have been customers of the Buckley restaurants for almost 20 years because we could always count on having a delicious meal. UGH!!! Our last visit to Mike's Italian Kitchen was on 10/24. My husband and I both ordered pasta dishes and didn't even eat them. I have never had a meal that was more bland than the Braised Beef dish. This was not a typical Buckley quality meal...no way. The previous visits were the same. Alright, after hearing many mixed reviews of this place, we decided it was finally a cool enough temperature out to give heavy Italian food a try. Mike's did not disappoint. First of all, all of their pasta is made from scratch in house. It was cooked perfectly, and the sauces had just the right amount of flavor without taking away from the rest of the dish. Our waiter (Steven) was very knowledgeable and helped us make decisions when we were torn. We had Steven at Surf before and he was just as great there. The tall cake was moist and delicious - well worth the splurge. Cocktails were creative and different from what you would normally get from an Italian restaurant (but there were still plenty of good wines to choose from). The only thing that wasn't top notch was the free bread and oil. It was a thin focaccia that didn't taste the freshest, but it definitely didn't take away from everything else being phenomenal. Nice atmosphere. Rip was professional but fun as a server. I appreciated the small things from him like serving from the left and clearing from the right though it wasn't necessarily easy at our booth (and honestly unexpected nowadays). Food was spectacular. Had the Calamari for an app and Veal Saltimbocca and Vegetable Primavera for dinner. Entrees melted in our mouths. The Old Fashioned was smooth and tasty and the Lime Ricky was a nice option from the N/A menu (even ordered a second one). Finished with the Tiramisu brownie which was perfect for two to share after a full dinner. The support staff was nice and offered the expected options like fresh ground pepper and cheese. Just moved back to the area and haven't dined out much downtown yet. Will definitely return. read more

So we came here on opening night, years ago and as with all places on opening night, there were glitches and the food also needed tweaks. Well two years later we came back and sat at the bar and split the chicken parm and the meatballs and a bottle of wine, service was amazing and so was the food, we had two servers that evening and they were outstanding. We came back again this past May 2025 for my birthday and sat at a table since there were three of us, again, amazing, the food was great, the wine, the service, even had a maitai which wasn't as good as Surf's but really tasty! We had a guy probably in his 30's who was super friendly. This past Sat. we came again-4th time now and sat at the bar. When we walked in we asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar and she said everyone is still having their entrees. My husband went to check and low and behold there were 3 people actually leaving.... Not sure what that was about but always check on your own to make sure. There were two women at the bar working, one was taking orders and the other was just making random drinks. The server was nice but average nice, nothing over the top at all and sort of friendly but not what we are used to at all in a Michael Buckley's establishment, in all honesty, it was a fake friendly. She also didn't listen, we asked for the ice with our martinis and it got dumped, the other server assisted after we asked for the ice, she then made a separate small glass of ice with a small bit of vodka... not sure why places just don't automatically give the extra ice in the shaker to the paying customer, we shouldn't have to ask. The glass wasn't all the way filled either like it is in Pizzico or Portofinos.. fill the glass when folks order a martini! We got served our food by other waitstaff/maybe busboys/girls? Our server really didn't check on us much in regards to the food, and we had to ask for things. When we ordered our entrees my husband asked for kalamata olives on his pasta dish he ordered and she charged us for them... that's fine and it's only a buck but communication is nice... The olives on the meal were green and not kalamata as well. The food was absolutely delicious and has been the past 3 times but I'm thinking if she's the bartender againwhen we want to dine there in the future, we'll go to Surf. My advice is to split an entree, they are huge, like at Carmines in NY. read more

Everyone at our table raved about their meal choices! Portions are good sized, (we all brought home leftovers), everything is fresh, pasta is outstanding. We made a reservation online and headed to downtown Nashua. Parking can be a bit difficult, especially at 5:30. Hostess were very friendly. We sat a booth near the bar which was really nice. Ambiance is very nice inside. Music is not too loud. Patio looked nice as well. Food was excellent. Portions pretty large. Fresh bread was awesome. My Campari was excellent. My wife and I are visiting from out of town and decided to give this wonderful place a try. The food was sublime and our waitress Kim was wonderful as was the Manager. My wife had COVID a couple months back andvit screwed up her taste buds. She had chicken saultimbocca and she cried afterward telling me it was the first flavor combination she fully tasted since and she was overcome with emotions she loved it so much. Our local go-to place to meet up with friends. Comfortable and casual atmosphere. The four of us first shared two orders of Cheesy Garlic Bread with Marinara Dipping Sauce and we all had a delightful Red Sangria (delicious). The sauce was a perfect complement to the bread. Two guests ordered the Grilled Chicken Amalfi. Wow, I'll have to order this dish on my next visit. The grilled artichokes, spinach, green olives, vinegar peppers, red onions, zucchini, and sweet tomatoes topped with Parmesan cheese and EVOO with house-made fettuccine was a flavor bomb. I had the Bolognese. This is a classic Bologna dish and did not disappoint. Enjoyed the Hazan-style sauce and the house-made pappardelle pasta soaking up all that delicious gravy. Another guest had Sausage and Meatballs with a house-made sauce over house-made rigatoni. The sausage is outstanding. Again, no disappointment here! As usual, service is outstanding and our server, Mariah took care of us. Great knowledge of the menu and didn't press us time-wise. That is important as we drank, chatted, and ate for 2.5 hours. This used to be a pretty solid bistro type restaurant with a somewhat seasonal menu. Now it's an Italian restaurant with a larger menu, and much worse food. Service was good like normal for an MTs restaurant. There begins, and nearly ends, the positives of this place. We ordered two mocktails, the strawberry mint and raspberry lime Rickey. They hadn't made sure the Rickey was mixed, they just poured soda water on top of the raspberry lime mix, and called it a day. Mixing it sufficiently basically turned the whole thing completely flat, because the syrup was too thick. The strawberry mint drink was MUCH better, so I was hoping the raspberry lime was a fluke. We ordered the meatballs as an app, and they were actually not bad. They weren't stellar, but not bad. They came out hot, but the cheese very quickly congealed, while the tomato sauce was scorching hot. The garlic bread was good, but in the way that if you dump garlic oil and cheese on bread, literally anything is good. They used too much oil, and cooked the hell out of it so it would remain crispy. The meatballs I'd say were well above average for a chain restaurant. Pretty tender, reasonably well seasoned, and pretty large. Thus ends the highlights. Our entrees were absolutely terrible. I ordered the fig jam and prosciutto pizza. Now, I'd had the pizza on offer at MTs before. Many times, actually. They need to hire whoever was doing it back then, because this shit is absolutely abysmal. The pizza wasn't really crispy on the bottom, the prosciutto and ricotta was tasteless, and the entire thing was drenched in a sickly sweet fig jam, covered in arugula. NO AMOUNT of arugula could cut through that much sugar. The whole thing just tasted like fig jam, that's it. I ate about a third of the pizza, and the rest went in a box. My wife tried it when I got home, and she thought it was awful as well. I threw the remainder out. My son had the bolognese. Apparently it's an homage to someone famous I didn't recognize's recipe (per the menu), and it was also terrible. They need to box that recipe up and send it back. That was just a plain old meat sauce, and not even a good one. Good ragu de bolognese is supposed to have deep depth of flavor. This sauce had a kiddie pool of flavor. A kiddie pool ordered from Wish. It said it was served with pappardelle, but was actually served with mafaldine, I think. I'm not an expert in pasta types, and this isn't one I've seen before,however it absolutely isn't pappardelle. They don't even bear much resemblance to one another. I think they did it so the bolognese would cling better to the noodles without having to combine it properly before service, but I'm not certain. This is an Italian restaurant that doesn't even know what kind of pasta they're using. I think that kind of says it all right there. If you wanna pay $80 (two people) for marginally better Olive Garden, you've found your spot. If management is anything like it used to be, they'll reach out about this review. Their service is normally top notch. In this case, they can save the typing. I'm going to try it one more time, out of fondness for what MTs used to be, and then I'll either amend my review, or leave it as is. And if I leave it as is, I won't be back. This place is trading off MTs rating right now. I'm curious to see how long that lasts. read more

The food at MT's is great with a warm atmosphere, great service, and some great food. The General Tso's brussel sprouts and calamari might be the best thing on the menu after their creamed spinach! Only knock would be my steak was served more medium than the rare requested, but with it being the Easter holiday I understand how wild it can be. Not pictured is my fathers dish, a baked fish ina. Lobster bisque sauce over gnocchi, I would definitely get that next time, WOW!! Highly recommend for family dinners or a cute date night. read more

Went to Mike's for Dinner last week. The veal parm was soft as butter, no knife needed. The pasta was fresh and the Scampi was perfect, nice big Shrimp. However, the red sauce was too sweet for my liking, but that is a personal taste thing. The service was fair, I had to ask for cheese in the middle since the waiter never brought it. Also had to ask for bread multiple times. Hopefully its a newly opened thing. I'm going back, Mike's deserves a second try. read more

Underwhelmed Our experience didn't get off to a great start, I was a little surprised that with a confirmed reservation we were sat at a booth in the back of the bar area adjacent to the rest rooms. The service was very slow. Under staffed like most restaurants. Our server had tables all over the restaurant including some outside. I don't fault her given the circumstances. The drinks when we finally got them were very good , Nonino Negroni and a limoncello martini. The food overall was good. The Mediterranean salad was very good and shareable. Chicken Saltimbocca was very good. Eggplant parmesan was a bit of a disappointment. Some tough parts, not very fresh tasting. Pasta was nice I was looking forward to trying the House made sausage. We gave Mike's Italian Kitchen a second chance after visiting months ago thinking maybe it was just a bad night. I am not sure how this restaurant has anything higher than a 2 rating. Service was good, the place is very nice with a rustic decor. The food though was like something my kid would make. It was poorly constructed, bland and amateurish. Nothing close to anything Michael should put his name on. I am deeply disappointed. It's clear this is all about profit and no longer a passion. It's sad to see you go Mike. read more
