What a great place! Mike and Marty took care of a problem that 2 trips to the dealer and one to another mechanic could not figure out. I went in for the catalytic converter but they said that was solid. They then checked out the rest of the car and found out that the spare tire was not fastened down or inflated properly. Even tho' it is in the back, the car was sending the noise under and to the front of the car. Total cost $45. I've had multiple cars over the years and with that I've been to a lot of exhaust shops and this has got to be hands down the best experience I've had. Called in a few weeks prior to get some quotes to get work done set the appointment and when I showed up the price was the same as the quote but I ultimately chose different tips so I paid the difference . I've been meaning to write this review for some time now. Around September of last year I had just moved to CA and was having issues with passing the smog check. I must have gone to at least 5 different shops or part supply stores, and I kept hearing one of two things: 1) The issue that was causing my check engine light to come on would cost over $1,000 (I believe one shop quoted around $1,500), or 2) because of the code that was coming up and the age of my car, the mechanic didn't want to spend the time looking at it to identify the issue. I came across Mike's Muffler Shop online and called asking for a quote for a new catalytic converter. The price they quoted me was lower than every other shop, so I took a trip out to El Monte. After Mike looked at my car, they told me they thought the problem was actually due to an exhaust leak, not due to the catalytic converter. They were able to fix the leak for just $68. Had I gone elsewhere, I could have been throwing money at repairs that wouldn't fix the problem. It shows sometimes it is worth going to the experts. Furthermore, they could have still sold me the catalytic converter, which would have been $200+, but were honest in explaining to me their suspicion of the true problem. Finally, after so many, many weeks of shop-hopping, my car was able to check the smog check. I mostly spoke with Mike and Marty (I think that was his name) while I was there, and I found them both to be very professional, non-intimidating and helpful and I would highly recommend them to anyone faced with a similar situation. read more

Talk about quick efficient and honest. I had to get the catalytic convertor on my truck replaced recently and what I thought would be a job I do myself, I quickly learned wouldnt be possible. I ended up learning, quite sadly, that only in California, could I not replace my cat myself with a full pipe section swap for under $450! I could conversely get a weld on piece for about half of that, installed! WTF!!! well I called around and Mike's definitely had the best pricing and were willing to fit me in right away. That was great news for me. I was able to duck in and out in under an hour with the old cat cut out and the new one welded into place. Talk about quick and easy. I got down here after having called around and letting them know what I needed. They had the part in stock and already pulled. Consequently I was able to get in and out in a quickness most shops dont work with. However these guys understand that when you work quickly and put out a bunch of quality welds and work, you will be able to bring more people through the shop increasing what the shops makes and therefore what the employees make. Long story short, i took my 08 mustang to have a cut and clamp x-pipe put in at nearby shop in Covina. When i left my car would not stop squeaking!!!. I've been to Mike's before with my BMW and I wanted to do a big custom job which required a lot of welding, cutting, repiping, and etc. I knew it was a big job so the time they spent on my car was not a big deal. I stayed at the shop the whole time while my car was being worked on and I saw every detail of this shop. First they are VERY busy, this if for the yelp review below who did not get his quote. Your best bet for a quote is to go in and ask. Second when they finish they check, double check, triple check. And they do quality work. Third, their price is unbeatable, I mean I've been quoted at other places and this place is well below all. All in all I am very satisfied. Today I went in with my friend with the same car as I and he wanted the same setup. I had no complaints today and my friend was very sasitfied. Last week I stopped by Mike's Muffler to get a check engine light checked out on my Honda S2000. It had been about 5 years since I last visited Mike as mentioned in my original review. Mike didn't remember me of course, but he ran a test and found that it was an airflow issue and referred me to a reputable local shop to get it checked out. This will have been my second trip to Mike's shop. First trip, I had an exhaust transfer with another guy and it was out and done under an hour. Smooth, paid, walked out happy with a new exhaust. Came in the other day because the exhaust was hanging super low and wanted to fix it so I wouldn't destroy it anymore than i already have. Quoted me at around $100 but agreed on $80 with my current situation. I felt bad for basically negotiating on a service when he also squeezed me in his schedule and so I decided I'd pay him the full $100 instead of the agreed to thank him for his efforts. This man comes out and gives me the $20 back instead of just keeping it. That right there shows character and honesty. I left extremely happy, everything fixed hangers re done and exhaust cut and welded back up in under 30 minutes. Will make this my go to from now on for any exhaust needs. I have a 2018 f150 mom has a 2007 Jeep. Mike was very professional and upfront. The Jeep didn't pass smog so other places said it was the catalyst converter. I took it to them and they just wanted to start off with checking the oxygen sensor but long story short he saved me $200 on the sensors and $650 on the catalyst converter from the dealer by his perfect diagnostic and recommendation to drive it around 50 miles and put a catacleaner because it would pass smog. Thanks mike and his crew. Very blessed I really appreciate it and as well my mother. Plus the kicker he didn't charge me anything and as well hesitated accepting us buying lunch for him and his crew. This place is awesome! Mike and his guys are friendly, polite, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. An absolute pleasure dealing with these guys. I was doing work on my exhaust system at my friend's garage, and several of the studs in the manifold broke off. I didn't feel like driving all the way to Long Beach with no exhaust (see: ringing ears/tinnitus) to get my oxy/acetylene torch, and Mike's just happens to be 1.2 miles from my friend's garage. Needless to say, they blew out the studs in 10 mins, and i had the car back together in 45. While I was waiting my turn, I watched one of the guys custom fab a catalytic system for an SUV, and another guy fabbed up an entire exhaust system for a Jeep... bent it free-hand from straight pipe.
