I've only ordered the crawfish to go and it was very fresh and flavorful. I ordered it spicy, and it was the perfect spice level. The crawfish were full of garlic, spicy and butter. When I get crawfish I look for the crawfish to be fresh. The shell to have that cracking sound when being peeled and not soft. The crawfish I ordered here were fresh! Our favorite seafood spot in Katy/Cypress area! The owner, Mike, and his team of employees have all been very friendly and hospitable every time we frequent. We order party trays from them often when we have family come over, and Mike's is always a hit! The fried catfish portions are generous, tasty, and perfectly crispy, the gumbo is delicious, house fried rice, lime pepper wings, and the fried shrimp are also guaranteed crowd pleasers. Make sure to ask for their homemade tartar sauce, but for sure get the "Mike's Sauce" too which is game changer. Crawfish during crawfish season is also great here! I dined here for lunch last week for the first time. It's not an area that I travel often and Yelp brought me here with high reviews. Mike's is in a stand alone building on Hwy. 529 with its own parking lot. It's a counter service restaurant and for some reason that day it was warm inside. I ordered the 1 fish, 3 shrimp, 3 oyster (fried) meal with steamed veggies for $10.49. After getting my soft drink at the self serve station, I found a table to wait. During that time, I noticed the unusual decor with the bright and shiny bar area with the hanging light fixtures where I ordered and the dining area with the exposed dark ceiling. The bar area looks like a night club bar and the dining area doesn't. It's not an unattractive interior but it does conflict in its styling. In about 10 minutes my food arrived. The piece of tilapia was large and hot with a medium thickness. The shrimp were were medium size and the oysters plump and juicy. All of the seafood was good in taste, especially the oysters. Also, the steamed veggies were hot and good in taste even though I wish I had some seasoning for them. Cocktail sauce came with the meal in a container and ketchup here is served in packets. Overall, I gave this meal a 3.5. The price was reasonable and taste was good. I would probably try another side dish next time even though the veggies were acceptable. So do I round up or down? While eating, I happened to look at my credit card receipt for this meal and noticed a credit card fee of $.50. This was not mentioned from the cashier who took my order and when leaving I checked to see if I missed any signage notifying patrons of this fee and found none. I hate it when businesses do this. There shouldn't be an extra charge for credit card use and if it must be done, the consumer should be told. For that reason, I round down to a 3. Also, I would come back but only if in the immediate area as my meal didn't really stand out. read more

Food was okay at best. I felt I would've done better cooking at home. I came because a gentleman hype this place over crab kings. (Which is the best to me). I was convinced that Mike's had better taste and better prices. When I got here I was totally shock and confused. All the BOIL FOOD was sold separately damn near and would've been nearly $45-$75 for what I get at crab kings for $30 or less. I like to get cluster, shrimp, sausage, corn, & egg. Plus I get to select my flavor. Idk wth little buddy was describing. My hopes was to high prior to visiting. It was nothing special for me to return here. I grab fried fish and fries. This was my second visit to Mikes Seafood since they opened this location. My go-to location in the past is on highway 6 south. I was so excited to see Mikes expanding because it's much closer to the house! Always very impressed with how fresh the food is at Mikes. Both times I went in the staff were super friendly and customer focused. I waited in the car with my buzzer. I can't even begin to explain how delicious their food is and how awesome their staff is but I'm going try ;) I was in the area for work I'm looking for a little spot that had seafood and some happy hour specials. I am SO HAPPY I found Mike's! Alton is an absolutely asset to this business. He walked me through all of their different plates and side dishes and when I was stuck between the shrimp fried rice and the combo, he told me I could add the side for only a few dollars more! I was incredibly indecisive and he was so patient with me haha I would give Mike's a 5-star rating just because Alton is so awesome ;) and the food is just as amazing as the service... so let's get to it.. I had the 1 fish, 3 shrimp and 3 oyster combo (with shrimp fried rice on the side) and it was DELICIOUS and such a generous portion. The scallion in the rice gives such an amazing and fresh flavor. The fried butterfly shrimp were my favorite from the combo, but the fried fish was done perfectly, too. TheThey also have daiquiris for $3.99 during happy hour and those were delicious too. We did a to-go order: process is ease...order inside, they give you a buzzer, hang out in your car, drive around to the drive-thru window when they buzz for you. We ordered the 2 tilapia fish + 6 shrimp combo which comes with fries and a couple of hush puppies. Pretty good for the price! The portion size was generous, the fish and shrimp were great, did not hold back on the fries portion. Can't complain. After reading so many good reviews of Mike's Seafood for weeks, we finally went. FIRST IMPRESSION: The indoor area is small and the tables/chairs barely fit so some people were back to back or staggered with their chairs. Finding a comfortable chair for a group of four took some work. The guy cleaning tables would just start cleaning them in front of you while crumbs would just fly at you and he wouldn't say a word like "excuse me" or anything else. The outdoor area does not have any heaters so it was useless and empty during this cold day. You have to order your food, find a table and then go pick up the food so if you want to order anything else...back in the line you go. Not my ideal choice when you plan on having more than one drink. Nevertheless, we expected good food from the reviews here. FOOD: I got my beer first but the draft beers are pretty small, maybe 8 ounces? I asked for it dressed but it came plain. No biggie, just took it like it was. However, when I went back to order another beer it was the same thing so maybe nobody here knows what a Modelo dressed with lime and salt is. The crawfish were at $7.99/lb and they have the choices of mild or spicy. We chose spicy with garlic. The crawfish by itself had very little flavor, if any. They do give you a small container of extra spice and one of butter. Without those two containers the crawfish would be flavorless. 90% of the crawfish were barely bigger than a cockroach. Yes, it is early in the season but I have not seen so many small crawfish at the other restaurants I've visited in the last month or so. Not good. I ordered some limes for the crawfish and they looked like they've been sitting there all day or a few days. They were bitter and not fresh at all. The corn had some seasoning thrown on top and it was okay. The potatoes just had some very light dusting on top with seasoning and were nothing else than a boiled potato. A friend ordered fries and left most of them as they were tasteless and soggy. FINAL IMPRESSION: Never going back. I'll gladly pay more at other places for better food and overall experience. We left hungry because we did not want to order more and waste more money. Very disappointed to have wasted my money and time here. read more

Oysters were good and average, but the crawfish was a bit salty and lacked the Cajun garlicky butter flavor personally. We've been 3 times so far since we found out about mikes, me and my girlfriend love crawfish. I feel like the last time we went maybe someone else was in the kitchen? The boil flavor wasn't as bold and spicy and it was the other times. Also this time we ordered the gumbo and shrimp fried rice. Unfortunately, they were both nasty and we were so disappointed because we bought it so we wouldn't have to worry about dinner later on lol. We would've took it back but we live an hour away. Gumbo flavor wasn't all bad but it wasn't hitting and also was SUPER watery, probably was no roux at all. The shrimp fried rice was equally dissatisfying. No flavor, seasoning, and most of my rice wasn't even fried all the way through. Hopefully he looks at this feedback because I want to keep going here. read more

So when I moved to the Katy/Cypress area, I was ecstatic when I found out he opened up an additional location in Cypress. The quality of the food has always stayed top notch throughout all the years. Even though it's a seafood spot, the chicken wings are fantastic. The lime pepper wings are different from the traditional lemon pepper, but you can't go wrong with ordering it one bit. Came for lunch on. Wednesday. 1st thing I noticed was the cleanliness! There was always an employee walking around cleaning tables and clearing empty plates and trays for guests. There was a small line (but it moved quickly). To me, service is in the details. Standing in line, the employees greet you and make sure you are helped in a timely manner. I ordered raw oysters(extra lime), chargrilled oysters, 3lbs of crawfish, house fried rice, and a pitcher of beer. Food smelled too good to take pics of everything. Raw Oysters: tasted so fresh. Of course, it being in season, the oysters are huge and delicious. Chargrilled oysters: omg. My personal favorite here. The spices and cheesiness was great.
