Came into their shop yesterday due to seeing a small chunk missing in the side wall of my passenger front tire. Two of their technicians looked at it and said it was completely fine. One poured water on it and confirmed it was okay. Being professionals I believed them and thanked them for their time. I drive uber so passenger safety is very important to me. I go to my vehicle this morning and that tire is completely flat. I immediately gave praise that the tire did not blow out while I was driving passengers the night before. I called and spoke to someone and told them I was the guy that came in and told him what happened. Guy could care less, told me he could put a new one one for 135 bucks. Not sure why selling a tire is more important than the safety of other people. Luckily called Pono tire, they had a used one, got me in immediately. Their technicians looked at the flat and said it was a deep gash and should not have been driven on. Very unsafe. I'm disappointed in the lack of professionalism and common courtesy from Mike's. Have some accountability, its not difficult to apologize for a mistake. Im very happy the tire was flat when I got to the vehicle and did not blow out while driving passengers on the highway today. read more

I work closeby and there is construction in the roadway for the rail. I got a slow leak, in my rear left tire, and only noticed it, when my tire pressure sensor indicated it. For two days, I have been putting air and constantly low air pressure in the tire. When I decided to repair it, I make a wise decision to go to Mike's. I've been here before, and they are quick and very helpful. The service was awesome, and before long, I was out. The bill came out to $40 cash, and i was happy just to get it done. And then they wouldn't even take a debit card - they wanted CASH! Highway Robbery! You gotta wonder if the guy pocketed the $$. They close at 7 PM I called at 6 PM hoping that they could get me in before close to see what's going on with my tire because it kept deflating. They told me to come on over and in less than 5 mins, my tire was repaired. There was a screw in it! Everyone there was super nice and super helpful. 10 out of 10 service and if I ever have trouble with my tires again or if anyone I know has trouble I'm def sending them here. Called this guy to see if they had my size tires available late in the afternoon. He says yes and he says he has a lot. Priced me at $150 for each tires and covers everything. I needed two. Call the next day to see if we can get the two tires installed and he tells me he no longer has it. Then tells me that he can contact somebody to bring it down and it will cost me $220 each with everything. Tells me it be ready at 930am. I told him ok. I guess. Then I call him back and he's like oh you gotta come here at 1130am or else you going be sitting ducks. No be mad at me if I no take care you yet cuz I gotta wait for the tires. Sayonara sir! I was ok with paying that's extra $140 that you were charging me until you told me I needed to wait till it came and you were gonna call me. Ended up calling around and found something so much more cheaper and they were able to accommodate me in my 15 min drive to them. read more

Found Mikes when I needed to replace a flat. Other than, what I thought, was priced a little high, I was impressed with their Indy car speed of getting me in and out. Fast forward two months and I was in need of four new cheap tires, and rather than go to Lex's, I gave Mike a call. Mike said he would get me in and out for $625. Perfect! Headed down there with wife to let her see the pit stop show. Sure enough the boys attacked, one to a wheel. As I watched, 1st off the tire changer went to mount so I reminded him of the all import balancing. No problem he said. I thought probally tough day. Only when each did the same did I realize Big Mike might need to do a refresher of what he is selling. i was still pretty satisfied. The next day I notice my Outback felt a little sluggish on freeway. Three days later I noticed a drop in mpg. Looking for answers i check my tires out and noticed the tires Mike sold me were not the ones on my car. To be accurate different brand and wrong size. Went to Costco to check the air and found PSI at 45, 43, 47, and 45. My Outback requires 35 front 33 rear. lowered the psi and two day later I was down another a mile a gallon. Bummed, I called Big Mike, He Said no problem I'll get you what I sold you, brand and size. Come in tomorrow 11am and will swap them out. So I did. The boys were attracting two cars at at a time. It really is a good show! So I watched and sure enough one comes over and says I'm next Adding swapping out all four, right? Yep I said and waited till I got the call to pull into the Pit. This is where they lost me though, 1st off the changer machine goes to mount i was forced to again remind him the need of the balance. 2nd off the machine same thing. Three and four got the word I wanted them balanced. That was their attitude changed. when one motioned me they were all done I got in and while rolling out another stopped me and said hang on we're calling Big Mike implying there might be a charge. I said the wrong brand and size were put on last time and Big Mike agreed to swap them out. Frustrated the guy said ok get out of here. I did and went straight to Costco to check psi. Sure enough each tire inflated over 40 psi. So here is the bottom line. Big Mike, did everything right. Sold me what I wanting and didn't hesitate to make right what went wrong. The boys, Great Show, but need to learn to not cut corners completing the task at hand correctly. Would I go back? I think so, just gotta be ready and willing to say, Hey you need to balance that tire. The psi I can take care of. was still pretty happy. All the guys at Mike's Tire Shop, Big Mahalos for changing my tires out, had to go do safety check and needed to change the tires. Literally went safety check tires was bad and then changed my tires at Mike's Auto Shop and then Safety check again and passed and all from noshed by 11am. Folks, if you got tire issues, go to Mike's, fast and cheap and they all work hard, appreciate the service guys, sorry I had that fix a flat out inside from last year. HOLY GRAIL FOR ME! Story time: This Saturday my brother came up to me and said that my safety check had expired and my goodness, I TOTALLY FORGOT ALL ABOUT IT! Safety had expired two months ago, in February-- ‍. So I had rushed to the nearest safety inspection close to I was after work and didn't pass because my front 2 tires were worn out BOO!!!!! *thumbs down* I was honestly sad because for just two tires alone already was $600 to every auto shop I called. I actually went to The Tire Shop too but they said unfortunately didn't carry the size of my tires. It was all getting irritating for me. Luckily my boyfriend suggested to go to Mikes, I was like uh I have never heard of that place ever. He said that his co-workers go to this shop a lot? So I told him why not try? So off we went and I kid you not, the whole street was so tight and it looked very unpromising! So then we walked up and this energetic guy came up to us and gave such an awesome deal! $241 for two NEW tires! He did it so fast and I was a happy camper for sure BUT make sure to bring cash. If you don't don't worry, there's an ATM inside the shop but I honestly would hate to pay the extra $3.75 fee lol. I've patronized Mike's Tires for years and this is the second time I've had this issue. First time I chose to not review it. Eventually, a scam has to be called a scam. Mike's is generally fast and generally cheap. But not always. Today I called in advance of crossing town to get two used tires. I called and CLEARLY asked if they had a specific sized tire USED in stock. I was put on hold momentarily and then assured that plenty were there. I drove over, the tech removed the two tires and began the process. Mike then pulled up and walked in seemingly to help out. He asked what size and when the tech told him, his response was this to me: "why not get new, $150 each. Cheaper than anywhere else." It's not cheaper than anywhere else as I had just priced firestone out the door at $235 for two. I explained that, and that the car is secondary and may not last and that I called asking and am just looking for used. He switched went directly to "take your money somewhere else then and wait two hours. I don't need your money."..... and telling me I must be confused and must've called somewhere else. We had a little 15 second verbal exchange and went our ways. Mike is well known on Oahu for his tire shop and building custom motorcycles. I like that he gives guys opportunities to work they may not be given elsewhere. But at the end of the day he's directly fed the same lie to the same customer multiple times in order to bait and switch into a more expensive sale than initially planned on. When it comes from the top, I have to leave this review because apparently the business isn't run with any real ethics or values. read more

My family came here after our rental car unexpectedly had a leaky tire right after leaving the airport. We were able to get the tire patched up and refilled very quickly (there was somehow an allen wrench wedged inside the tire causing the leak). How much would you pay to have someone say "come right over" instead of "leave your car and we will get at it by 4p" but it's only 10 am???? Noticed a nail stuck on my rear car so I called Mike's Tire shop to see if i needed an appointment and they said no need. Came on Tuesday around 10am and only took 10mins to patch my car. They only accepts cash (i tried to venmo,apple pay but nada) so they let me drive to withdraw cash from the near by bank. Their ATM is not working. Overall, very happy and satisfied with their work. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! Talked with Mike, the owner, several times about making sure they had my tire size and agreed on a price over the phone multiple times. They didn't have any in stock so they had to go get 2 from another warehouse. He called me serval times to confirm they had the correct size and said he would hold them for me. I made sure to confirm the price again when I called and told him I was coming in. When I showed up, he wasn't there. Other guys serviced my car, replacing the two front tires, quickly as promised. His son brought me the bill after and it was higher than the price we agreed on. I told them that is not what Mike told me earlier so they called him. They gave me the phone, to which he started yelling at me after I said we agreed on the price earlier so many times and then he hung up the phone. Then he called his guys and demanded they take the tires off my car. It was insane. I read several reviews that it was a rip off and I should have trusted my gut. Went to have my tires mounted and balanced and I do agree that they are really fast but they didn't balance my tires at all. I call them to go back and have them fix it and balance it but he didn't answer my calls and kept ignoring them. You also have to pay cash and they don't tell you it's only cash. I had a set of rims that needed tires. Had a set of used almost new tires from a friend and just needed someone to mount & balance the tires. I did a fair amount of research trying to find a good shop with decent mounting prices and a sense of professionalism. I called before coming down, they seemed nice over the phone. Took my loose rims and tires in. I sat on the picnic table outside while they took care of my rims and tires. They finished quicker than expected and they helped me load the wheels back into the bed of the truck. Positive experience on this occasion. Recommended for mount and balance of used rim and tire combo. read more

This place is the worst. They do not balance, your wheels and tires after they are done as they do not have a balancing machine. Please be aware of that if you are planning to use them. They also double charged me. They ran my credit card, then told me that their card machine is down even though my credit card showed that the payment had processed. Then asked me to provide cash. I got a flat tire in town after noticing my tire was loosing air every week or so and had to pull into a gas station to try to get air. Luckily the owners friend was in the parking lot and actually told me to head to Mike's which wasn't far from the gas station I was in, and gave me their number. I was super nervous to drive from the gas station, so I called the shop and Mike the owner told me exactly how much to fill the tire (not the usual amount,) which way/ how to drive it to make it to the shop, and even texted to make sure I was good to go! When I got to the shop I didn't wait at all, and the owners young (son I think?) checked my tire out and took it off. Within 20 min they found the nail, fixed my tire, and I was on the road. I was able to get cash out before hand and it was reasonably priced. I want to mention when I was leaving my car died (need a new car much? ) and the guys jumped my car, but also pointed out this leak in a hose in my engine. I had taken this car a year ago to a mechanic who told me my starting issue was something else and quoted me something astronomically high considering how old my car is, and I never got it repaired. Because I was able to identify the issue, I ordered the part (for under $100,) and then came back to the shop to have them fix it a few weeks later. Call it a stroke of luck amidst a a few waves of bad luck, but I am seriously grateful for the consideration, aloha, and help from Mike and this shop. Is the area a little sketch? Sure. Is parking a hassle? Absolutely. Are the guys there friendly? Kind of. But respectful -- yes. HOWEVER -- I have nothing but great things to say about Mike's Tire Shop. Mike and his boys have always have my back. I have been there a handful of times now (like 10). Usually without an appointment and with multiple cars. Mike and his team are always willing and able to assist me with a tire change or whatever I need. They are honest and helpful. More over -- their prices are fantastic. Are they the cheapest around? Well -- they used to be. Are they still, no. BUT, they are reliable and there when you need them. Mikes New Tires have a 1 year warranty. Be sure to ask them the details of what that covers. Mikes Tire Shop is located in Kalihi on a very slim road, one-way, road. They sell new and used tires. Call about their specials because they run specials often. Prices are great and they will have you in and out QUICK. On New tires, they probably have the better pricing. On used tires, they are competitive, but you may find cheaper elsewhere. However, I trust the tires from Mikes Tires and I am okay with paying a little extra for the peace of mind. ***NOTE: They are cash only. But they have their own ATM on site.
