Sommer, the owner of Mike's Upholstery & Paint, is quite professional. I came in early this morning for upholstery to two pairs of leather seat covers. Sommer apologized for the upholsterer running late and asked me to return in the afternoon. She called me around 11:45 am, while I was on a thread mill. We agreed that I could show up at 2:00 pm. I showed up around 1;30 pm. Work to my seat covers was completed around 2:30 pm. Sommer did not charge me because I was inconvenienced. That was her words. Here are my words. This company and it's employees deserve 5 stars for sure. They did excellent work on recovering my driver's seat in my new little "Beemer", and it turned out so well, that you would never know it was repaired - matches perfectly and the craftsmanship was amazing. Mike's went above and beyond what many companies would do and also ordered me a new door handle from BMW instead of making me do so; and when we called them, I asked them if there was any way they could fix the front bumper as someone had probably run over one of the cement curbs that you find in a parking lot at many stores. Stellar job - you would never know what happened to it. The employees were very friendly and extremely professional; really cared and listened to what you wanted and then made it happen. I had my driver's seat bottom and center console cover upholstered at Mike's. They did an outstanding job. The result is like new!

MAT removed and replaced the broken sunroof/cage in my 2008 F250 and did it quickly and professionally. I also had the headliner resurfaced which looks brand new. Since they did such an awesome job on the sunroof and headliner I had them repair the 2 channels on my roof that were needing repairs soon as they were damaged . They repaired, sanded, and painted the roof and did a great job on it as well. The only issue I had was that I wish they were closer so I didn't have to drive so far . Mike and his Company disregarded my request to preserve my property while in his care and he promised work he did not perform. Mike lied. I don't speak about the man but in business with me he lied. He would not amend the situation and chose to continue to demand payment for work which was not completed. It is very sad that he chooses to behave with disrespect to me as a customer and to himself through his lies. I can not recommend the company. Located right on the corner of 12th, this little gem has apparently been serving Sarasota for years, and for good reason. The staff and owner are great at what they do, and get things done at a value. They'll take care of you and work with you without overcharges, hidden fees or nonsense. Older cars, newer cars, it doesn't matter; they fixed my 2018 Corolla up no issues and sometimes I even forget it was ever damaged in the first place. I had these folks replace leather for my headrest in my 2018 BMW. I am very pleased with leather match and craftsmanship of the replacement.

Mike, Larry, and Frank are artists in their own right. I made an appointment to get my car seat repaired and I was certainly pleased with the result. Larry, crafted new foam around my torn area, padded it and then stitched properly. The entire seat and bench were cleaned and put back perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to see the entire front drivers seat with bench removed and worked on. You bet I will be doing more business with Mikes Auto Trim in the future. read more

This business is the real deal. They give an honest quote and do great work. I had an odd request when I took 2 kayak seats in that had the stitching busted out. These were soldered together so not an easy fix, but Mike and his crew did an amazing job!!!! So much so that I'm now going to take my car in to have wok done on it!!! I took my car here to get the air condition looked at. I have a 2013 Kia. The owner did not call me to tell me what work they believed it needed. Without my permission, my air condition system was flooded and broken for an entire weekend. It was 85 degrees out and I have children. I left the shop very upset.I do not believe this shop is competent to fix newer cars. The owner returned my money. Also an after market filter was used for an oil change without my knowledge. I am sure lots of places do this, but I don't like that I was not told. I will give them two stars because I got my money back. I personally would not take a newer car here. -- no AC was bought and installed in my Kia. This post was also written 3 years ago in 2016. Making a response in 2019 is very odd. read more

Had some seat repair work done fixed the rear leather seat panel but damaged the lower seat while doing the job. Told me he fixed an additional hole in the lower seat for free, which there never was a hole in the lower seat. Put some vinyl glue on the small tear which is now pulling apart one day later. Asked for the left over material I purchased for the repair to the back panel, said he could not do that but would do any future repairs for labor only, and not charge for the materials. I heard the most tales from one guy in five minutes than I have heard in 40 years; it was an insult to my intelligence. If you enjoy storytelling and poor quality performance this is your shop. I took my car here to have the headliner replaced. I have a 2005 x-type Jaguar with a sunroof. The work was outstanding, clean, no glue or adhesive anywhere. My car was washed and put in a safe protected area until I picked it up. Mike was very professional, honest and the cost was exactly what he quoted. Other places wouldn't touch the car because it had a sunroof and another place said it would only take an afternoon maybe the whole day.
