Oh my, what a tasty delight this was! This is a small, local place, which I drove by twice before I saw the sign. Upon walking in the door, I was greeted by delicious aromas and a handful of tables, which, it seemed, were filled with locals. I sat and was brought a small bowl of salsa and chips. First tip, order a gallon of salsa. It is SO good. Flavorful with a nice heat. Based on other reviews, I decided to try the suiza enchiladas. Excellent choice. Everything was so fresh. So flavorful. So damn tasty!!!! The service was also outstanding-and they were BUSY! This is a MUST TRY!! read more

I came here ONLY because they won the Tulare county menudo contest 2 years in a row. It's a 25 minute drive for me, so I was hoping this was the best menudo I've ever had. The menudo was in the top 10, but not worth the drive. I got menudo to go and it was well packaged with the typical fixings, but the broth really lacked flavor. Sure, the broth was red, and a tiny bit spicy, but really was flat. Some salt helped, but still wasn't that good. To me, the hallmark of a great soup is the broth. Pho, caldo de res, posole, chicken noodle...all have to have a great broth for the soup to be good. There was sooo much hominy in the menudo too, way more than any other menudo I've had and definately out of proportion to the tripe. Should be called Homi-nudo. Also, found a thin strip of metal in my soup. It was in my spoon right before I took a bite, but found it shining and reflecting in my spoon. Maybe it was a piece of a can, or whisk. Anyway, it was an accident of course. I might come back for the menudo if I lived in Tulare, but wouldn't make the drive for it again. They have other things on the menu that I'm sure are good, but I'm here for the menudo. read more

There are not too many decent dining out choices in in Tulare. This is the 3rd time my gf and I have eaten at Mikey V's. We had coupons to use from restaurant.com - with a 'spend a minimum of $50'. What we didn't see when buy the coupons was, minimum of 4 people. The owners worked with us. So not only did we get good food we also bought food for later that day; not something they normally do. So it was appreciate!. Next time we'll have to go with a group of four or more. See you again soon. P.S. Chimichanga are delicious. read more

Stopped at Mikey V's, on our way to Hermosa Beach, from Fresno. My wife got the California Burrito with 2 fried eggs on top. The fried eggs really add something to the flavors. It was amazing. Our waitress, Sofia, was very thoughtful and intuitive, providing the best service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. My chicken enchiladas were delicious but I plan to try the California Burrito on our next visit, as we will definitely be coming back! read more

We were in Tulare and I yelped a good place to come eat have breakfast. ...gave it a try...walked in was greeted by an older Hispanic lady who was very friendly...took our drink order...Menu was very basic and good selection in mexican food...My husband had Menudo (funny how us Mexicans have Menudo Sunday mornings)...I ordered Chile Verde omelete & my kids both ordered from the kids menu...all our food was served hot & my husband said the Menudo is the best he's had in a looooong time....Oh & I love how out waitress filled our drinks ...I hate going out 2 a place where u waits so long 2 get a simple refill....over all I give them a 5 star...everything was perfect. ..I don't give 5 stars 2 just any place..great job read more

My husband and I came here for the first time. Total was $20 and some change. I liked it, he didn't really like it. I thought the rice was delicious, beans tasted a little odd to me, enchiladas I had were good- the chicken in them tasted almost grilled or something, was VERY good- and we got no chips and salsa as others have said they did. My husband is very very into traditional Mexican food that tastes like his mom made it. He usually hates Mexican restaurants and calls them "Americanized" as he said so with this one. He did however say that it was the best of the Americanized Mexican food that he's had. He, unlike me, loved the beans and said they tasted real but that the rice tasted off lol so who knows! Only thing we agreed on was that omg it was SO quiet. To the point where we felt we needed to whisper to each other. We were the only ones in there and could hear a pin drop. The waitress gave amazing service though. Husband wants to go back to try the menudo. read more

Chili Verde Tacos were very yummy. Rice & beans were edible. Store bought chips & salsa. Smh Great service. Enchiladas were pretty good. Quesadillas were blah. No taste. If your from Fresno this isnt considered authentic, but hey it wasnt all bad. read more

There just something about a FAMILY OWNED and SERVICED establishment. First hing you notice is they treat you like family. Second, they cook food that they cook for themselves. I have eaten here twice, both times for breakfast. The first time I had the menudo because they have signs declaring how good it is and that their menudo has won multiple contests. It was just ok. The chips are just regular store bought chips and the salsa was ok. I like my salsa to have at least a little heat to it but theirs had none. I also feel it's insulting to serve crappy store bought chips. If you are going to serve chips at a Mexican place they should be fried there. The second time I ate there I had the huevos rancheros. The huevos rancheros had no onion, tomato or any other type of vegetable to it. It was just the tortillas, eggs, and sauce. The flavor of the sauce was decent but I prefer it with some vegetables in the sauce. The beans were ok but the hash browns were not good. They were not crisp and were in fact pretty darn mushy. I'm not impressed with this place for breakfast. There are better places around. read more

Mikey V's has great food at a good price, with family serving it to you with a smile. That makes it my kind of restaurant. I recommend the chicken and cheese enchiladas myself, although my friend got a giant burrito that looked pretty delicious. Do yourself a favor and come on by. read more

I'm not sure how anyone could rate this place with more than one star unless you like to pay for store bought chips and salsa .... not to mention they use a microwave to heat up your food. I was in town visiting family and the wife, kids and I were craving some menudo. We found Mikey's on yelp and decided to go. The place is small but very clean the staff were very friendly and the food is very good. My wife order the chili Verde omelet it was excellent. I had the menudo it was very good and they gave you plenty, plus all the fixings diced onion and cilantro and hot tortillas. I will definitely eat here again when I come back in town. read more

Nice place in downtown Tulare. Great Mexican food and great staff. Only one downside. Food does take awhile to come out. But when it does your not disappointed. The decor is nice. It really does have that cafe feel to it. The Shrimp tacos are delicious. Definitely will be going back. read more

Been here a number of times lately. Its a small little place, but the food & service is great! The waitress and the cook are nice people. I like small family owned places like this. My food usually comes out very quickly. My only gripe is the chips & salsa. Pretty sure the chips they serve are those round Tostitos. Not a fan of store bought chips & salsa for a restaurant. Other than that, all the food I've tasted has been quite delicious. I plan on going back soon. read more

I ate here before and didn't feel it suited my tastes but my friend liked it so I gave it another shot a few months ago...I'm just now getting around to writing up a review. This time we sat inside since Tulare County changed their covid policies with businesses. I came with the same friend who had joined me on our first visit to Mikey V's. He had ordered the chile verde and I had ground beef enchiladas with red sauce. I have to say that we were disappointed. It wasn't because of the portions, ambiance or service, the food just lacked flavor. The red sauce on the enchiladas tasted like a red colored atole that was neither savory or sweet. It tasted like water, flour, and red food coloring. Very odd. Shocking that something that looked so good was so bland. We tried to spruce it up with some salt n pepper...didn't improve much. Friend was not impressed with his chile verde. He was expecting to taste just as superbly as it did on our previous visit. We're going to give Mikey Vs one more shot. Stay posted. read more
