Located on the top floor of a beautiful, high-end shopping center right in the heart of Brickell, Motek is an incredible covered, open-air establishment. Even on a 90-degree day, they managed the Miami heat flawlessly with an elaborate system of fans. Combined with the evening's natural breeze, it was completely comfortable. It's a great spot for people-watching, and the local Miami talent is definitely on display. I was dining solo and sat at the long bar, where the bartender was friendly and highly attentive. The food completely stole the show. It is not hyperbole when I say I had the best chicken shawarma of my life here. The flavor was unreal. It came with a phenomenal s'chug sauce and a perfectly prepared green pepper. It was so good that I ordered a side of extra hot peppers to keep that incredible heat and flavor rolling throughout the meal. To drink, I tried the Israeli dark lager by Golden --excellent choice at 4.9% and remarkably close in profile to a Negra Modelo. The back of the restaurant features a fairly open kitchen concept, so you can see where all the magic happens. The execution is fast, and the dishes roll out quickly. With all the rave of this place, I wanted to fall in love with it so bad. And the food was fine but the service was extremely disappointing. I was left embarrassed recommending a place that made my friends and I leave so uncomfortable. I came with some friends from out of town and wanted a place that would impress them but still casual enough for them in Brickell. They are unfamiliar with the "social rules" of Miami but Motek seemed to highlight all the negative ones here. The server took one look at us and deemed we were not worthy of his attention, presence, or service. The server was named Sebastien and he was extremely pushy and rude. He was constantly watching us but never came over to speak with us unless we called over another server or busser to get him. He tried to rush us into leaving when the restaurant was empty and his whole demeanor to us was so unwelcoming. The decor was gorgeous but the food was not good enough to forgive the horrible service. If you want to go to a place, within a mall, that bases service around what you look like with hyper vigilant staff that watch your every move making it their mission to make you so uncomfortable you are forced to leave, then this is for you. read more

I was craving good middle eastern stew so went there for the Moroccan Fish. It didn't disappoint! The fish was flaky, the tomato sauce was spicy and the side green pepper was a perfect complement, The bread was so good I had to actively stop eating it and dipping it in the sauce. My friend and I tried to grab a seat for happy hour but weren't able to (it's only star bar and high tops) but we opted to come back a few hours later for a full meal. We had the best food and best experience in miami as tourists from LA during a pre cruise visit. This place is located on the top floor of a mall and after passing by several other restaurants, we ended up here by chance during happy hour. A gentleman named a j and a bartender named Mire take care of us at the bar. They had a very extensive menu for happy hour, which was pretty surprising compared to other places. The prices were reasonable and the food was even more impressive when it arrived. By the way, we are pretty particular people. My friend also enjoyed her drink although I don't recall the name. Everyone at the bar was commenting about how tasty the food was and sharing recommendations amongst each other. We had a perfect experience and everyone was very attentive including the general manager Salvador who checked on several time. Thank you AJ, Mire and Salvador. The hostess at Motek was very friendly and took us to our table as soon as we checked in. Seconds after sitting down the waiter came with menus and filled up our glasses with water. I really loved the ambiance of Motek. My group was seated close to the kitchen window so it was fun to see the orders come out and watch the chefs prepare the food. There were a lot of food options and since I went with a big group we were able to try many options. The fried eggplant appetizer was definitely my favorite. It was super crispy on the outside and it came with really good tzatziki. The red bell pepper with feta dip was also very tasty and went well with the pita. The salmon skewers were also cooked perfectly. They were crispy on the outside but also melt in your mouth on the inside. I only tried the ribeye as my main and it was cooked perfectly. I really like Motek, it's a beautiful restaurant but being in the city center creates a little bit of chaos. It's a lot going on around you but the actual restaurant is really nice. The Halloumi Dates and cheese really explored a different taste pallet giving an explosion of unique flavors in every bite. I had the lamb shawarma plate and it was great, I tried the Arayes burger which was really good and didn't disappoint. My co worker had the Waygu burger which he said was really good. All in all it's a great spot, I would rather the regular restaurants that aren't in the mall because it feels almost like a food court and I don't think Motek and food court go together. After walking this massive mall, I was starving. Motek was on my radar, so we made our way to top floor for some much needed lunch. Upon our arrival, we saw that it was happy hour. They had a $5 dollar menu that was just right to try a few dishes. We ordered quite a bit. The hanging plants and lights add a special touch to an already great restaurant that delivers when it comes to the foods and beverages. The bar is huge and widely available for many guests during the day and evening. The server staff and bussers also appear very knowledgeable about their food and culture as well. Management has been noticed stopping by tables and enduring guests' satisfaction which, as a former restaurant employee, I really appreciate. The best is the Lamb Shawarma hands down. I used to really love motek but sadly I just didn't feel the quality and the price point aligned on my most recent visit. A pita and a shakshuka cost $65 (incl mandatory 20% service charge). At this price for what we ordered, I expect the quality to be outstanding but found it to be mixed. Motek always does shakshukas well and their hummus one was no exception. Quite tasty. The pita was pretty disappointing. Very little goat cheese and the artichokes had a weird taste to them. I did quite enjoy the bread itself though. Our server was good and the ambiance is nice. After a visit to the Apple Store which is always mentally challenging, we opted to head upstairs and try Motek's incredible Happy Hour. It was exceptional. Price-wise and Food-wise. Let's start with the ambiance, a fun setting on the top floor of Brickell City Center. Nice decor, comfy seating. PS: during their extensive HH 2-6pm you can sit anywhere, not just at the bar (which is attractive.) You don't get to select a wine other than Red, White, etc. but they were good wines and a generous pour. For $5! Ok let's go to the menu. Also every item for, wait for it, $5. (Dorothy, I don't think we're in Miami anymore.) We sampled three equally delicious items: the Italy Pita Flatbread (basically a mini pizza you can cut and share with your companion) Then the Chicken shawarma, which was so unusual and excited every taste bud. A bit awkward to share unless you're fairly intimate with your dining partner. Finally, we tried the Arayes burger, came in two pieces, easy to share, delicious, two sauces,I think Hummus and Tahini for dipping. So, with all these superlatives, why, you ask, am I only awarding it 4 stars? Well, the service left much to be desired. We were seated promptly, and waited forever for a server. I finally approached the hostess at the front and she promised to find our server. She eventually arrived, took our order, we asked for some water along with our wine and food, she had a carafe and poured it, unfortunately ran out. Promised to return, never did. Other servers arrived with our food and drink. Our server did check back with us once so we were able to order another round. Never saw her again when we were ready to order more food. Before we were finished she appeared and asked us to close out our check because she was going on break. Be aware, 20% service is included, it is written on the menu but you might not notice. Overall, it would have been a 5=star plus experience except for the service. I'm going back for sure, the food was so delicious and the prices so reasonable. And if I have a better experience with our server, I will revise my review to give Motek the 5 stars it should deserve. read more

My girl reminded me we were trying to get rezos at this spot when we were in NYC and it was packed so we popped into the Brickell City Center location for the happy hour specials and damn was it worth every single penny. First off I can't believe bites and bevs are only $5 a piece, the menu is expansive. We got the mini arayes burger (two bites) it was bomb, the meat was deliciously seasoned. The chicken shawarma was flavored excellently , it's like a delicious pita pocket. My babe ordered the Israeli salad (I'll pass, I'm not a cucumber lover)--she ate every last bite. We also ordered Apple Kind's off of the drink menu and they tasted like an adult apple juice. We still wanted a bit more protein so we ordered some chicken kababs, which was delicious and nutritious. We opted to visit the Brickell location and it was nearly the opposite. Food and service that is made to "look" good. We had a flavorless pomegranate fennel salad. The falafel was hilariously burned and a third of the size it should be. The only redeeming thing was the schnitzel - fried chicken is hard to screw up, thankfully. And the prices are outrageous for the portion sizes on top of it all. We were served right away--service was really outstanding. I started with matcha latte, which was excellent with a nice leaf on top. For an appetizer, we had the hummus. This came with the best bread I think I have ever had with hummus--it was right out of the oven and was absolutely delicious. I would have gladly had a second order. Although it was brunch, all the egg dishes had a distinct Mediterranean twist that I was not that interested in, so I had lamb kabob. Again, this was outstanding--great flavor and cooked perfectly. One of my favorite meals in Miami! While I loved all the Cuban cuisine, fresh seafood, and key lime pie, I was excited to try something different. I found Motel Brickell on a Reddit forum about locals' favorite restaurants and it did not disappoint!!! Motek is on the 4th floor of the Brickell City Centre. This a giant outdoor(ish) mall with subterranean parking, though we walked. I assumed "Motek" was the chef's name, but it's actually Hebrew for "sweetheart." The interior is very slick and it seems like many of the diners were out with their sweethearts. Our server was Joao and he was so great that I had to include him in this review. He was so friendly, attentive, and polite -- thanks for making our night out so wonderful!!! The food: we had the mushroom hummus -- the best hummus I've ever had. It comes with freshly baked pita bread that out of this world. My wife had the salmon kebabs -- so tasty, but is served a la carte rather than as a platter. If I could make one change to the menu it would be to include a small side salad or fries. I had the arayes burger, which deservedly won a burger of the year award, two years in a row. It's a total street food delight -- burger (possibly beef or beef and lamb?) that is seasoned, stuffed into pita, then baked/grilled/broiled, and finally cut into quarters. The pita is charred and crispy while the burger is tender and juicy. It came with tahini and a harissa aioli for dipping, plus a salad (or fries). A unique item that I have to imagine will be replicated by others in the future. The bill includes a 20% service fee, but we were notified about this when the bill arrived.
