I have lost track of the amount of times I have gone to the Regent Cocktail Club. I've gone to see shows, I've gone there to dance and drink, I've gone there to spend time with friends. I really cannot say all the reasons I've gone. What I can say, though, is that I have enjoyed it EVERY SINGLE TIME. The chic, modern ambiance is to die for. You'll definitely be grooving all night long, whether it's on the floor, at the bar, or even sitting down if you're fortunate enough to be able to grab a table. Seriously speaking, I have only ever seen the tables empty throughout the week. On weekends, this place is hopping! I cannot believe I just used hopping in a sentence; goodness I feel old. Anyway, if you're concerned about parking, the 17th Street Parking Garage is nearby. That or you can Uber. As far as getting to the Regent, be aware it's on a corner and you may miss it if you don't look close enough, but when you find it, YOU WILL BE HAPPY. The drinks here are expensive compared to other areas of Miami, but you're in Miami Beach, so I would say prices are average. $15ish for a drink if memory serves me correctly? I stopped in here 2 weekends ago before I headed out to dinner with my daughter and her BF who were visiting me and SoBe. I really enjoyed my time at the Regent Cocktail Club. It is a total 4 star place in my book. It was everything I was expecting in a high end cocktail joint. My bartender was superb and she knew exactly what she was doing. We had a couple of the daiquiri specials, a gin drink, and then I switched to a traditional daiquiri to get an additional measure of the place. All the cocktails were delicious, all packed the right punch. The Regent is a cool place. Btw, the Regent is also a cold place!.... I don't know what they are thinking, but the AC was in overdrive, .... this is my only real compliant. The Regent is in back of the The Gale Hotel. The Gale is an old school hotel with a retro art deco design that was very well done, prefect really. I just wanted to hit the Regent so I wish I had gone to the rear of the property directly, on James Ave. The Regent is also super well done in the decor department and you would think you are in the 30's classic South Beach bar. Minor highlight: they had a very kitschy cool picture of Mr Spock dressed like Shakespeare. Being a Sci-Fi fan, naturally I loved this. The bar is located on the rear end of the hotel, almost hidden as a secret society meeting place. The décor is very classic, and sexy, made me feel almost like I was on set of an old Hollywood movie... makes me want to dress up and act the part. Bartenders are wearing vests, very clean look and they are very formal (but friendly at the same time) when they address you and even in the way they make the drinks. I ordered a Dark & Stormy and, even though it was not presented with the "light to dark" effect on the glass, the taste was on point. Prices too are part of the High Class, exclusive feel to this bar. $18 for a drink seems too much to me but, then again, this is South Beach and Regent is one of the best here. There's a reason blue-chip stocks require a higher investment than say, penny stocks, and that's because the profit margins tend to be higher. Such is the case with a good mixology bar as well, like the Regent. I like rum, good quality rum; I found that here. Based on friends' recommendation I started with their stormy flip. A creamy concoction of dark rum, dark sugar and egg, it was perfect to start the evening and ease the edge of a 20 hour workday. Mentioning my rum preference to Tyler my bartender, he also prepared a spicy alternative take on the mojito: dark rum, ginger beer and dark sugar. Other reviewers have mentioned the location, but I'll go over it too. Dimly lit, subtle background music that you know it's there but just background enough that you can actually enjoy your conversation on the comfy banquettes as well as your nightcap of dark rum and chocolate bitters. The revamped Regent Cocktail Club is sexy as hell. They moved downstairs for a more intimate vibe. Just walk into the Gale Hotel and head downstairs. They have awesome live bands playing jazz or funk almost nightly and a DJ playing after that on weekends. The cocktail menu is still great as well as the service. This is a very nice place to go pre or post dinner, on a date, or with friends. There is ample seating and the bar is the perfect size. Dark and intimate, quiet and cool, this place is a date-night winner as well as a great place to end an evening. A friend and I popped in here late on a Sunday for post-dinner drinks. The bar was only 1/4th full giving us plenty of seating options and access to our bartender. We'd just had some weird cocktails over dinner so we asked for some solid hits for our night-caps. I wanted something gin-based and she wanted something whiskey-based....both light on flavor not on booze. Our bartender whipped us up two drinks that fit the bill perfectly. Our bartender was also a great conversationalist and we chatted for an hour about everything and nothing. He passed on some great recommendations for other places to explore in South Beach, but was also observant enough to take care of the rest of his patrons. I'm not sure if my feelings towards this place were heightened by alcohol, but days later I'm dying to go back! After a few hours (and cocktails) around the corner from Regent we headed over to get even more cocktails. The reviews make believe you can enter from the other side of the building (on Collins), but we found it easier to enter through the James Ave entrance. Not exactly sure I'd call this place a Speakeasy, but they are definitely going for that sort of vibe + high-end craft cocktails, which works for me, so I was a happy camper. The board listed some cocktail options and most of my group went with one of our favs - the Dark and Stormy. No complaints about this drink what so ever, and I think I had two (or maybe three of them lol). I can see how getting a drink here could be a bit challenging (not sure if they have servers that come around to the table areas as well?) but we found it pretty easy for our group of ~18 to take over the bar area and keep it all to ourselves lol (sorry to the other patrons). One of the group members happened to know Alex (one of the mixologists) so she was able to get some specialty hand crafted cocktails, of which I tried a few sips!! Seriously, not a bad drink in this place (except maybe the Rusty Nail, but that's just not my thing lol). If you're looking for a high end cocktail, then definitely check this place out. Regent is the latter -- and that's a wonderful thing. From top to bottom, RCC offers itself to be exactly what it claims to be: a cocktail club. Don't expect any oontz. Depending on the night, there might not even be a crowd or scene. But what you can expect is a classy, decidedly-grown up atmosphere with cocktails that delight and presentations to make you feel classy. Outside seating is available although a bit hit or miss thanks to SoFla weather patterns. No concerns, however. The inside is stylishly adorned with low lights, plenty of seating and a handsome bar. I just never got around to it until last weekend. I walked up the steps of The Gale hotel, passed the door bouncer who pointed me in the right direction, walked through Dolce, walked through their main lobby, passed the elevators, reached a long hall, and approached a pair of grey velvet curtains flanked by security in suits on either side. Are we there yet? Almost. I asked the security if this was RCC. He pulled the curtain open, smiled and waved us in. WHOA! Well, well, well, this is wonderful. What a nice surprise! Thanks for the tip my fellow Yelpers! Was I in South Beach? It sure did not feel like it. I felt like I had entered a time warp into Chicago circa 1940. The music, lighting, and vibe just took me aback. No tiqui tiqui music here y'all! The music was all very dated: nothing dating past 1960. Maybe even 1955. The "club" is very dimly lit and a quad of inviting leather sofas take center stage. It's not a "club", it's most definitively a lounge. As nice as it is, it is also very laid back. This is a great place for pre or post dinner drinks: far, far, away from the SOBE club scene. I loved that the bartenders were dressed the part too! I tried a couple of my friend's drinks and they were all excellent. I stuck to a (new obsession) bulleit rye on the rocks which seemed like the perfect choice for the night. We scored seating on one of the sofas which meant we had our very own waiter. He was quick, efficient, patient and made great suggestions. For future reference, you can enter RCC (without all the drama) off the street behind the hotel. I just had no idea, but happy my first time had a more mysterious introduction. I plan on making Regent Cocktail Club a ritual. There is no way I will ever visit South Beach and not make a stop here. Both my wife and I were excited to do something low key and romantic. We had dinner at the Four Seasons in Surfside and then got a ride down to the "Regent Cocktail Club" only to find an empty lobby and dead atmosphere. The ones with Kiefer Sutherland and Ray Liotta kicking back after a taxing day, talking about whatever "real" men talk about while having that smug tequila mobster drink? I can't confirm it but it's possible that these tough guy commercials contributing to this cult of Goodfellas drinking real men tequila were filmed at Regent Cocktail Club. Dear god, this was the best cocktail lounge I've ever been to! My bf and friends surprised me here for my birthday this past Saturday night, and it's literally the best birthday I've ever had. This place has a "Great Gatsby" vibe. It is tiny and a bit crowded, but we happened to snag their big corner couch for 12 people. The cocktail waiter was very attentive. Cocktails are 14$ each. They have a menu with 6 or so cocktails on it, but I was able to order a lemon drop martini (best I've had) at the bar, as well as a drink they don't have on the menu called a Singapore Slinger. It's big, it's red, it's filled with fruit, and is the best cocktail I've ever tried. The old fashioned was great, and the absinthe drink (forgot what it's called) was good, and that's that I hate licorice! The bathrooms are very clean and co-ed. I did not see them being prepared but I would hazard a guess that they contained some kind of artesianal tonic! Around 10:30, Ms. Kitty Carmichael (alter ego of the fabulous Cat Shell) took to the mike (a 1940's relic!) and we enjoyed her beautiful jazz singing! I am dinging one star for 2 reasons - one of the bartenders was so tied up in the cocktail making, he didn't even acknowledge us. Low key, unpretentious, speakeasy bar in SoBe. Ironically, it is mainly frequented by a select few local connoisseurs of mixology. FYI, the Bacardi teams often frequent this establishment as a result. You can be sure that the drinks here are quite posh, well balanced and delectable. So. This cocktail club is hidden behind a curtain all the way at the end of the Gale Hotel past the reception and front desk area. Definitely as close to a speakeasy as you will get in the S. Fla. scene. The place is dimly lit, but extremely packed and with very little seating area, the bar piled up with people trying to order an expertly crafted cocktail on a Friday evening. The secret of where to plant yourself...the exterior tables outside covered up with high bushes so that the patrons walking on the sidewalk can't really see you enjoying that perfectly crafted cocktail of yours. Ahhhhh...to privacy. Now...trying to catch the attention of the cocktail expert is quite difficult as patrons that have already ordered their drinks have planted themselves at the bar since there is no other place to sit at inside. Trying to squeeze into the area to attempt to order a drink was like squeezing into the subway in NYC during rush hour. Cocktails... Properly crafted. Yes. Properly served with style. Yes. But holy moly, a round for four will run you at least $80! Remember...when in South Beach you're going to pay a premium along with gratuity already tagged into your bill... Why just 3 stars? My wife and I love this place. It's a dark and kind of small lounge inside the Gale hotel in Miami Beach. Speakeasy atmosphere, far from the blasted party craziness of other Miami Beach areas, it has a Chicago feel to me, which is a good thing in my book. We went a few times and found some live music acts that were very good, I remember two young brothers playing guitars....amazing. The drinks are done with professionalism here, bartenders know what they are doing. Prices? In the Miami Beach range, you know what I mean, but definitely I'd rather pay $ 15 for a nice cocktail here, sit on a leather sofa with some nice music, live or background than pay the same for some raucous SoBe place for a watered down cocktail. Regent Lounge is a place where my wife and I really relax when we go, it's just like the way a lounge should be; most of lounges down here become clubs, with loud music and overpriced "imitation" cocktails. Regent is cool, warm at the same time, and yes, if you are on a first time, this is a great place to end your evening (okay, I know, you don't really want to end it here, but you know what I mean...). Yeah, I know this place has an overall rating of 4 stars, but I gotta agree with the reviews from Dave W., Eoghan M., Catherine A., and Michelle S.; The Regent Cocktail Club, at least on the evening I visited, isn't worthy of 4 stars, and most certainly isn't deserving of the 5 stars that some people have awarded it IMO. This smallish speakeasy themed bar in the back of the Gale hotel is well appointed, and everything from the furnishings to the décor, the old upright piano and the light bulbs with visible filaments fit with the theme. On the night we came here, bartenders were friendly enough, dressed in accordance with this bar's theme, and there was never really a line that I saw, as the bar staff were able to mix everyone's orders in a timely enough fashion. That being said, I was here for a birthday party, and I noticed one recurring thing as I worked my way through the group of familiar faces and excellent people when I arrived a bit more than an hour after it'd started; Many were standing around without drinks in their hands. I went to the bar, and they had signage that listed several of their signature drinks, priced out at $14 each. I saw a punch bowl filled with red liquid sitting on the bar, and assumed it was a drink special for the evening. I ordered one, and the "mixologist" served me one up, along with a bill for $18.06..... For the same quality punch that one might find at a wedding reception or a dinner party at someone's home. As I worked around the room, one of the people asked how my drink was, and how much I'd paid. He then waxed poetic about how he and his wife went to a place on Lincoln Road just before coming here to Regent, and they ordered a beer and a mixed drink for less than $10 combined. Another person commented that they wanted to go to another bar on Espanola Way, where one can get "Lost" and celebrate the "Weekend", as their drink prices were much more reasonable, and they wanted to order from the kitchen there as well. As my glass grew empty, I started looking at the signage behind the bar again. I decided that my next beverage would be a Rob Roy, another one of their specialty drinks. It was also listed on the $14 board. More than a bit spendy, but whatever. The Mixologist handed me a stemmed glass that held maybe 2 or 3 ounces of drink, along with another bill for $18.06. What?? I looked at the bill a bit closer...$14 for the drink, $2.80 for the 20% service charge, and $1.26 in tax. And as is normally the case with bars that include the gratuity (in this case, the "service charge"), there is another separate line for one to write in a tip. After that, once I finished my small $18 beverage, I joined the handfuls of others who chose to stand around empty handed, rather than be financially sodomized for the price of a drink. Several left, 3 couples went to one of their houses to, and I quote their text, "drink for free". I was hungry, so I joined a few others in going to another area bar where I had a pint of craft beer and a meal so large I was unable to finish it, for a total of $12. Sorry, Regent. You kind of put a damper on a lot of people's nights with your drink prices. If we were coming here for maybe 1 or 2 drinks and then planning to move on, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. If you were charging $10-$12 total for a cocktail, I could stomach that. Telling me you're charging $14 per drink, and you give me a bill for more than $18 per beverage with gratuity and tax on an evening where we were planning to spend more than a few hours here? If there is one word that could describe this place it would be "Hipster". I usually hate using that term but honestly that's the Regent Cocktail Club. Ironically that's the thing I loved most about this place lol! I was out drinking with a large group of friends one Saturday night. I don't know Miami at all despite living here most of my life but SoBe isn't my usual stomping grounds. I followed my friends to this place and it was not what I expected, and I mean that in a good way. It is located in the rear end of the hotel and if you didn't know any better you would probably pass right by the place. Make sure to bring a jacket though cause the place was freezing inside! It's not very big but we were early enough to beat the huge crowds and get spots at the bar. I loved how hipster the bartenders were with their moustaches/beards and overalls and vests. Felt like I was sitting at a bar in the 20's or 40's or something and I loved it! Each drink they made was hand crafted and took a few minutes to make but it was totally worth the wait. I actually enjoyed watching them make each drink. I started with a dark and stormy and although it was delicious my favorite drink of the night was something called a Rusty Nail. If I lived in Miami and I were to take myself on a date, I would take me here. It's a fun, chill spot to go with a date, a friend, or a group of friends. It's dark in a slightly mischievous kind of way. Though small, they utilize the space really well, making it feel intimate, cozy and exclusive without being stuffy. Most importantly, the drinks are stiff and they know how to make them drinks! These are truly adult beverages, probably the only ones worth $15+ on Collins Ave. And they have live music! Dea and I were staying nearby and wanted to end our first full day in Miami with a nice, chill nightcap. It was around 11pm on Tuesday night and it was just the right amount of busy. We quickly found a small couch for two and they had a great band playing covers to some top 100 hits until midnight. We were so sad to see them leave, but the delicious drinks kept us glued to our seats until closing time. We enjoyed Regent Cocktail Club so much that we came back the next day. Definitely don't miss if you're staying in South Beach/Miami Beach. It's small so make a reservation if coming with a group of friends. read more
