I've never been to the actual restaurant so I can't speak to the service in store, but I do order from this location now and again. The pizza is pretty good and the delivery doesn't take as long as some. This is why I gave the restaurant two stars. Unfortunately, the delivery drivers constantly forget items and have to either refund money or come back later with what they didn't bring the first time. I understand that people make mistakes, but you have one job- make sure all of the stuff is with all of the other stuff I ordered and then bring it to me. That's it! My first visit to Pittsburgh to take in a Pirates game. After leaving PNC Park and walking across the Roberto Clemente bridge we ran into this little gem of a place. This is a great place to come with friends before a Pirates game! The pizza is pretty good and the game day special (2013) is a large cheese pizza and a pitcher of domestic beer for $13.00. The pizza is always fresh. The sauce is delicious and the crust is a nice hand tossed thin crust. I've never been disappointed. The atmposphere is comfortable and the waitstaff are friendly. Yea there food is ok but I don't understand how do you deliver to every neighborhood with in 3-5 miles but you can deliver to a predominately black neighborhood. As a concierge across the street at a Renaissance (4 diamond rating, one of only three in the city.), I used to frequent this place after work. They have a nice dining room with a small bar upstairs. But after many continued un-provoked RUDE service by the bar manager, I will no longer go there nor recommend them to ANY guests. I now gladly send them to Proper (A wood fire really cool Pizza place on 7th street, just one street over with good service.), Il Pizziaolo in Market square, merely a two and a half block walk from the hotel. (which is phenomenal by the way). Or Giovanni's which is literally right next door to the Renaissance. Milano's is also over priced for what it is. However,if you enjoy a RUDE bar manager upstairs with horrible customer service and acts like her CUSTOMERS are an inconvenience then you should 100% go there. Cause, that's fun. read more

So me and my friends were exploring down town Pitt and so this little place. We walked in and automatically got rushed by the owner. He came on a little strong by that I mean he force us up the stares. Then the waiter only came by the table twice to deliver the food and give us the check. Now the good the pizza crust was awesome and the rest of the food was good to except the cheese it was to stringy to handle and most of us eat the pizza with forks. They screwed up my order I call back to let them know and the manager starts screaming at me yelling and cursing refusing to fix my order or offer me a refund. I live about a block away and I come here often. Usually just to have a few drinks, but I do eat here from time to time. The bar is upstairs. Amy is absolutely the best bartender!!! Ask her to make you a drink/shot that "tastes good," and she will make you a very tasty concoction!!! I won't even order a drink if anyone else is working. They have a drink special everyday of the week. Some better than others, but you can get drinks for $3 a piece. And it's all day, not just for happy hour. Now onto the food. The calzones are HUGE!!! Definitely split them with another person. They always arrive quick and hot. Never had a bad sandwich here, but none stands out in my mind. Probably because I always have to get the kind my boyfriend likes. Now for the PIZZA. This is absolutely the best pizza you can get in downtown. I know, I know, what's the difference? Pizza is pizza. Well, I don't know what they do to it but it's great!!! The maintenance guy in our building, who has lived there for 7+ years, got us turned onto it and now that is the only pizza we eat. You definitely gotta try it. We only get the pepperoni, and it's excellent!!! Have been wanting to try one of their specialty pizza's but they are a little out of my price-range (hmmm...booze or food?) But their prices are reasonable, especially for downtown. This is a solid place to get a slice of pizza when you are on your way to a Pirates game. It is right across the Roberto Clemente bridge from PNC Park, so my husband and I often stop at their outdoor pizza stand to grab a quick cheap dinner before a game. The slices of pizza are $3 each and ENORMOUS. One slice is easily two slices at most other places and takes up an entire paper plate. The pizza is good, usually fresh and hot. The Cafe Milano needs to do a much better job of matching its menu to things it can do well. On a visit earlier this week, they were out of coffee, out of guacamole, served cocktail sauce, not ketchup, with deep fried onion rings, and smothered their wings with overpowering barbecue sauce. The only saving grace was a Tuscan chicken hoagie, which was very good. That hoagie convinced me that if you want to have a good experience at Cafe Milano you better stick to things like pizza, hoagies or other standard Italian fare, apparently their strong points based on our visit. read more

While visiting the Burgh to take in all of the biking trails this magnificent city now has to offer, we stayed at The Priory on the North Shore and they recommended Cafe Milano for their food and delivery service. We ordered the Gourmet Supreme Italian Hoagie, and I have to say, that this was absolutely one of the very BEST that we ever tasted. It was chock full of meats, veggies and cheeses and just the right spices and was still warm, as was the small pizza (which we had no room for after the hoagie). The call-in order process (they have online ordering as well) and delivery was fast and efficient. We will definitely be ordering from Cafe Milano on our return trips to our old hometown. read more

We went here after the Steelers game and ordered wings and pizza and after an hour wait - we received the wings but the pizza was still not ready - we should have been told this time period when we ordered and we could have made our own decision on whether to stay or not, but they took the order and our money and just left us waiting - we were not the only ones that night this happened to - there were many people stating the same thing - food was good but not worth an hour wait!!!!!! I have been going to Cafe Milano for 16 years, that all ends today. While a friend and I were sitting down in their dining room upstairs, in the middle of eating our slice of pizza, a roach started crawling around our table. We immediately stopped eating our food and started looking for the waitress. Of course she was no where to be found (took well over 5 minutes for us to get her attention). Once she finally did come back to the table (I was standing at this point as the damn roach was crawling everywhere), we told her there was a roach crawling on the table. She looked and didn't see anything, came back 2 minutes later with our checks that she had already put through. We told her we didn't feel we should be paying for the food after that and especially since we couldn't even finish eating. She said she would talk to the manager so we stood there waiting for almost 10 minutes, she never came back so we went downstairs to find her. She told us the charges would be canceled from our cards (which they haven't been) and that the manager asks that we don't come back. So we went to talk to the manager personally. He said we ate the food and his waitress never saw the bug and that he doesn't have a bug problem, I quickly told him that the people sitting right beside also saw the "bug". ARE YOU FREAKIN kidding me?!?!?! #1 - I have no desire to ever eat there again if you have roaches crawling around your dining room, #2 - you've just lost a lot of business as the company I work for orders lunches for meetings from your restaurant at least 7-10 times a month. I will tell everyone I know not to go there which is a shame because I really did enjoy their food. I have never been treated so disrespectully nor have I ever been told not to come back to a place before. Over the years the service there has continually gotten worse, but even still I've always generously tipped the wait staff.
