    Buffalo chickn wedgie
    Zach S.

A New Yorker walks into a Pittsburgh Pizza shop. Pittsburgh is a little light on vegan restaurants so I opted for a pizza place with vegan options and I must say, I was very impressed. Ordered a medium pizza with banana peppers, a chick'n parm hoagie and a buffalo chicken wedgie, which was described as an un-enclosed calzone with less cheese so you won't hate yourself for eating the whole thing. Everything was really good (the Buffalo wedgie could've benefitted from some kind of ranch sauce to counteract the heat) and the pizza could hold up even in NY. Looking forward to the leftover slices on the way home.

The food was amazing! I ordered chicken quesadilla and my friend went for beef nachos. The waiter was attentive and quick. We went on Sunday around 6pm, the vibe was calm and cozy. Highly recommend it!

Solid pizza place with a lot of portions for people on certain diets (vegan, gluten free, etc). Prices for some items are a little expensive and portions are just okay, but quality seems relatively high. I ordered the regular cheese pizza and caramel cinnamon puffs for dessert. The pizza was pretty standard. I thought the crust was on the thicker side, while I prefer it thinner, but it wasn't bad. Nice crispness on the edges but not so much in the middle. Adequate amount of cheese, and even distribution. Good amount of lightly sweet sauce. I really liked their homemade ranch, and I think it's definitely worth getting on the side. It's less than a dollar extra for a nice little cup. Its super creamy and flavorful, and goes really well with the pizza crust. The cinnamon puffs were quite good. They are essentially little pieces of fried dough with a cinnamon sugar dusting. Good portion for the price. The caramel was a little liquidy but still good. Nice dessert. All in all, this is a solid place for pizza and other similar items. It is especially good if you are a vegan or follow a gluten-free diet. I would definitely recommend trying their ranch regardless of what you order as your entree.

I can't say enough about this family owned small business that my son and I popped into randomly. The staff are just delightful providing suggestions and checking on you. The decor has a nice at home feel with even couches to have your meal watching the tv which is where we watched the game! The prices are very good and food mouthwatering. There are six packs and single beers to purchase with a huge variety to select. My son had the chicken fingers and fries while I had the spinach and feta rolls (my son hates veggies and stole some of mine). Highly recommend!

We like trying new pizza places, and Pastoli's did not disappoint! We ordered a pizza and some cheese fries online. Our food was ready for pickup within 25 minutes, which I thought was reasonable. The pie had a good ratio of cheese, sauce, and toppings. Another thing I that I thought was unique about Pastoli's is that they have a gluten free and vegan menu, which I think is great! When I went inside to pick up my order, the staff was very kind and helpful. I would definitely order from here again!

My husband and I were visiting Phipps, and were craving pizza after our visit. I hopped onto my Yelp app and Pastoli's was the first restaurant listed. It had an excellent review rating, so we decided to give it a try! The restaurant is located in a corner shop in Squirrel Hill. It appeared as though on-street parking was the only method of parking for the shop. Thankfully it was a quiet Saturday and we were able to find a parking spot with no issues. Pastoli's has a large sign out front, so you can't miss it. The restaurant has ample seating for couples and small families, but I wouldn't plan a big party to dine in at this location. The restaurant was clean, modern, and welcoming. They have a big sofa by the window facing a large screen tv that was playing basketball games. I thought this was a creative alternative for people to relax and enjoy pizza comfortably. We ordered an extra large pizza with half green peppers and half pepperoni. I believe an extra large is a 16-cut, so it will feed a small group. The pizza was EXCELLENT! Everything from the crust, to the sauce, to the toppings tasted fresh. This would be my new go-to pizza place if I didn't live so far away. They also offer gluten free and allergy-friendly versions of their pizza, and offer other forms of pasta, hoagies, and appetizers. Unfortunately we didn't have the appetite to try anything besides the pizza. The restaurant and food is wonderful and I would highly recommend Pastoli's to anyone looking for delicious food from a small-business in Pittsburgh.

I ordered a small Basil Pesto Pizza and it had no Pesto flavor whatsoever. None. I called and the manager, Chris, told me it is the same Pesto Sauce that they've used for 8 years. I had eaten 1/2 of 1 piece, and Chris asked me to send a photo, which I did. He called back a few minutes later and reiterated the earlier message that it is the same Pesto Sauce that they've used for 8 years. Well, I've eaten Pesto Sauce for longer than Chris has been alive, and let me reiterate that Pistoli's BASIL PESTO PIZZA has ZERO BASIL PESTO FLAVOR. I encourage you to head right over to Pistoli's and try one yourself. Ask for Chris by name.

The sauce and cheese were good but the crust was pretty hard I think it was just cooked too long.

The pierogi's are an excellent choice for perhaps the less adventurous- yet does not disappoint! The stuffed cabbage was really yummy! We were served by a waiter named Cass. She was pretty rude while taking our orders but I thought I was just overthinking. We then waited for over 50 minutes for 2 burgers while some tables that were seated after us got their food first/at the same time as us. Our waiter was also checking up and chatting with other tables and never ONCE came to our table to check on us. By the time our burgers and fries got to us, they were COMPLETELY COLD. But at this point I was so hungry and tired of waiting I didn't even care to ask for a new one. I understand how hard service jobs are which is why I tried giving her the benefit of doubt but the situation just got progressively worse. As the check came, I saw that my waiter charged me separately for fries despite me getting the $12 short stack meal deal that comes with them included. She also charged me 50 cents for onions despite it being included in the 4 toppings. I politely pointed this out the fact I was still charged for fries, to which she says it's because I asked for "extra pickles." ???????? I was like why would that disqualify me from the deal......To which she said "Um did you not ask for extra pickles? I said that you can't have any modifications." She then proceeded to stare at me blankly for 7 seconds, which was extremely creepy and unsettling. I then asked for the manager who was nice and did help me remove the extra charge but overall this was a horrible experience. If you are a person of color I would not recommend coming here as there is a chance you will not feel welcomed. This is the first time I haven't left a tip in years.

The pickled items are all done in house, and menu/kitchen are very thoughtful on how they execute. They do the pickling well, and they incorporate their ingredients into the dishes without making them feel unbalanced. Some specifics: Chicken fried pickles: Great ratio of batter to pickle. Generally, I think execution of pickled spears versus chips is fraught with peril. ButterJoint does these perfectly. These remain excellent and an unequivocal "get again" dish. Crispy chicken sandwich: chicken thighs done in one of the House brines, then battered and fried. This is a generous sandwich with two thighs. The batter is light and perfect and perfectly adherent. Kitchen cooked these pieces perfectly; no overdone portions. The tallow fries served as a side remain excellent, and the serving is very generous. "You can't eat just one." Pork belly sandwich: what a completely fun bite! Generous serving of pork belly, crispy on the outside and melting internally on a perfectly toasted roll. The condiments on this sandwich are perfect. The brunch burger is excellent. The egg is hard cooked so it doesn't come apart on the sandwich. M got the corned beef hash; the brisket on it is absolutely amazing, and there is a very nice grill on the potatoes. The poached egg on top is a complete delight. This is one of the better hashes that I have had. The falafel is fantastic. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked. The goat cheese crust with hot pepper jelly is an unexpected treat. Pickle shrimp are fun. The Mississippi comeback sauce is basically a remolade or maybe big Mac sauce. Would totally have again looking for a little cold shrimpy bite. We have never walked away disappointed by the menu or the kitchen. Good bar program, good draught list. Consistently gracious front of house team. Great for lunch or dinner, couples or families. Highly recommended.

The vinegar pie sounded super unique and intriguing so I gave that a shot. So glad I did! This is delicious. I can't even really describe it; there's a tiny note of acidity to it, but it's also super sweet. A nice little brown topping as well. It's just really good and you should try it.
