Well, ladies and gentlemen, I found it. I have found the best pizza in the Burgh. Look no further than the Driftwood Oven. Came here after seeing a bunch of recommendations online and my son and I split a 16 inch half pepperoni, half cheese pie. The sourdough crust, the sauce, the cheese, all were excellent. The service is great. The bartenders, waiters and waitresses are all very friendly. I just wish it was closer to I live rather than in Lawrenceville. If you are ever in the city, do yourself a favor and give it a shot. It will not disappoint! read more

I came to Pittsburgh for a cheerleading competition and had a taste for some pizza. We arrived pretty late on Friday night approximately 20 minutes before Driftwood closed. Even though it was late we were greeted with exceptional customer service and were seated at a table. Our waiter, Remi with an I and not a Y was absolutely fabulous. He made great suggestions and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the 16 inch pepperoni with bacon. My daughter ordered the pepperoni roll and my wife ordered the meatballs and 2 Bianca slices. My wife's name is also Bianca so a double bonus. Our food came out about 15 minutes later and everything was piping hot. To my surprise the pepperoni came with the real bacon strips on top and not your average bacon bits. The sourdough is top notch as well. I ate 6 of the 8 slices while my daughter ate two along with her pepperoni roll. My daughter enjoyed her roll but did wish it had more cheese. My wife enjoyed her meatballs. They give you 4 and are a decent size. She was only able to eat 3. The Bianca slice is a healthy thick slice. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Driftwood. The service was OUTSTANDING (Remi). The food was good. We ended up staying 20 minutes past closing and didn't notice any change in customer service. This place is definitely worth a shot. read more

This is the best pizza I have had in Pittsburgh. I know, it's a low bar, but still. It was recommended to me by a friend, and confirmed as good by a local food review journalist I happened to meet, so I went ahead and ordered a funghi bianco pizza with a kale Caesar. The pizza crust is very good...mushroom and cheese on a white pizza is always delicious, and the side of red sauce I ordered was out of this world--just the right amount of spice. I should have gotten two. :) The Kale Caesar was fine. The kale could have been washed a little better, and the dressing was way too thick. But it's a pizza place, not a salad place. The pizza warms up great in the air fryer for like three minutes. I'd order it again. read more

Driftwood shows up on a lot of top pizzas in Pittsburgh lists and this is accurate. The pizza is Roman style, and I had never heard of that before but it is like a sourdough focaccia. Very crispy and very delicious. My favorite here is the white pizza, which includes herbed ricotta, fresh garlic and white wine shallot cream sauce. It's really delicious. They also have a variety of sourdough pastries and small plates. There used to be a small amount of seating here at the front of the restaurant but they have expanded and there's a nice bar area toward the back, and seating outdoors on Butler Street during nice weather. Our service here has always been friendly and helpful. I have seen others eating round New York style pizzas here but I can't speak to that variety as I always stick with the square Roman they are most known for. read more

On our last night in town, we decided to grab some pizza at Driftwood Oven. It was within walking distance of our Airbnb so we made our way over on a Sunday night and were seated right away. We decided to start with an order of their meatballs, which were absolutely delicious and some of the best meatballs I have probably ever had in my life. Not an exaggeration. We also shared a Bianca slice and a classic cheese slice to start, since we didn't want to order multiple pizzas, but we were very curious about all of their options. Both slices were tasty and the crust had a good chew to it. For our main pizza, we split the SMO classic style. Everything about the pizza was extremely well balanced from the sauce to the toppings and the seasonings to the crust. I know they're known for their sourdough pizza, but their bakery options, though few, are pretty solid too! I tried their seasonal flavor Croffin, Maple Cinnamon, and I enjoyed it more than I expected! Didn't get maple flavor, but the cinnamon worked well with the crunchy outside and soft layers. It definitely is a croissant dough, with great layering, but the inside was a but raw and quite dense due to the muffin shape. The cream on top and in the middle was great too, quite sweet but worked well with it. Wish it had a bit more maple flavor and at $6+, I think it's a bit on the pricier side, but worth trying at least once! read more

I had to stop at one of the most talked about pizza shops in the area: Driftwood Oven. I picked a few things to sample, I love good pizza and with so much hype, I figured everything was good. And it was. The pizza was nice and crunchy, the sourdough crust is noticeable. The deli sandwich was also very well made, with nice delicate touches of pickled items, and the pepperoni roll was just a pepperoni roll. I have never been a fan of pepperoni rolls, and this one did not make me a fan. Not a problem for me. The place is small, hip, on a busy street with minimal parking, so it easier to come and explore the area rather than just come here. The whole street is full of coffee shops, restaurants, and miscellaneous shop, it a fun place. read more

I've tried a lot of pizza in Pittsburgh and there's nothing like Driftwood. It is delicious--the sourdough crust makes each and every bite. Their current peach and corn pizza for the summer is the best pizza they have to offer, it's sweet and tangy and perfect for this time of year. My all time favorites year round is the Kale Riser and kale Caesar salad The restaurant is a bit more pricey but absolutely worth it for the flavor! Service in house is attentive and helpful. Driftwood Oven specializes in sourdough pizza. They serve whole pizzas and by the slice which I LOVE! The slices are ~$4.50. My husband and I tried the regular cheese, red top, and bianca slices. Honestly, they were all so good I really couldn't pick a favorite. The crust is PERFECT! It has such a nice crunch but is light and airy. The focaccia was phenomenal and a great way to start the meal, though I'm not sure it was necessary given the amount of food the pizza was. Driftwood Pizza is one of those spots that consistently delivers solid, well-made pizza in a relaxed setting. I stopped by recently and tried their Peach and Corn Summer Special, and it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. The combination of sweet peaches and roasted corn actually works -- it's not too sweet, and the ingredients are clearly fresh. The crust was nicely blistered from the wood-fired oven, and there was a bit of heat from what I think was a chili honey drizzle that tied it all together. It's not a pizza I'd normally go for, but I'd definitely order it again while it's in season. My date had no clue what to get and the counter man was helpful while also offered jokes about decisiveness. I loved it. The setting is uber casual but a great place to dine if you want to converse and they offer a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages if you're looking for a quick bite over happy hour! The restaurant has also changed since I was last there which is pre-2020 so it's much brighter and offers more space for diners. Check it out! When do I get my paycheck from Driftwood? Always try to start off with a positive statement-They have great food. But... There were 7 people in our party. We sat at a table outside (great night to do just that). We had 2 young children with us. When we were assigned our table we were told when we were ready, we could order inside. OK. We order 3 pizzas and an appetizer. The pizzas were $32-34 each. That is A LOT for pizza, but Driftwood has great food, so let's just enjoy our meal. Well. That was really hard to do. The server brought out our appetizer. We had no plates, no utensils. We asked if we could have those. He said "you can go inside and get those". SERIOUSLY!? He couldn't do us a service and get them? He couldn't have brought them with him? We then asked for water. Again, "you can go inside and get it yourself". These pizzas are THIRTY-TWO DOLLARS EACH. You can't bring us utensils? You can't show any type of customer service? You can't offer to get us water? When we needed to go BACK INSIDE to close out our bill, a tip was expected. FOR WHAT? We did everything but make the pizzas. Our friend who was the one elected to go in for everything got a tip from us, but very little went to a non-existent server at Driftwood. We will not be back! I can get delicious pizza at a host of other establishments for far less. And they exhibit customer service. In other words, they care about our business and would like us to return. This place has been hyped up enormously, but honestly, aside from the crust (which is fine, but nothing special) it's a pretty underwhelming experience. The pizzas were bland - no real flavor at all.
