We were here recently for a late lunch. We ordered a veggie pizza, it was good, bit too salty probably from the sauce or veggies.

The menu might be considered small however plenty of excellent choices for everyone's palate. We started with martinis Aviation gin for me & Ketel 1 for my hubs complete with bleu cheeses olives served tall & verrry cold. Our appetizer choice, the deep fried artichokes served with a creamy tasty aioli nicely presented however a bit over salted for our tastes, hence the 4.5 vs 5 stars. We came in to Italica wanting pasta the Bolognese with wild boar/fennel sausage arrived practically overflowing from the bowl, easily could have served 2 or possibly an appetizer to share at the table. My choice the Spaghetti Alio Olio presented bucatini pasta with bread crumbs & pecorino cheese ~ OOOOH MY, sooooo DELICIOUS my bowl was inhaled. Mid meal we ordered the prosciutto ~ fig jam flatbread just perfection the jam adding sweetness in every crunchy bite. To full from our appetizer & pasta we skipped dessert this trip but we'll be back!!!!!! as the drive to Indio from Palm Desert is maybe 30 min (+\~) easy & plentiful FREE PARKING be sure to look for the all stainless patchwork door for entry, once inside relax & enjoy the vibe.

We were not disappointed at all. Upon arriving, there was a musician playing, and they did seat us off to the right so we could not see but could hear still. There is outdoor and indoor seating, but at the time we came it appeared that the outdoor was reserved for an event. We happily sat inside! Having met Jeremy's parents earlier in the day who also recommended his restaurant, and they were just lovely, we had hoped to possibly meet Jeremy too. I wanted to try everything, but we opt on getting a few dishes to share. Our son ordered the filet mignon and they were able to substitute mashed potatoes for fries. Amazing!! The mac & brisket appetizer appeared to be the highlight and specialty and we just had to order it. Every bite was cheeesy and delicious with the brisket very moist. We couldn't go without ordering the Brussels sprouts and it had a twist with ponzu sauce and pineapple. Definitely a different take and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste. Every bite was foodgasmic and I highly recommend!!! I knew coming here that some Yelpers have experienced wavering in quality, so glad we did not experience that at all. As of the date that we came, we understood that the restaurant had been listed for sale, not sure if Jeremy sold it yet or not. I hope not, we plan on coming back this summer!

My daughter's meal was fish and chips and not that great. The prices are high. If you wanna get a steak, it will be $60, thank you. The chairs are hard and it's kind of like a regular restaurant. Feel not the luxurious feel that it was many years ago. Just too pricey for an average restaurant

I made reservations at MG's, based on online recommendations, and were welcomed so warmly by the staff and manager. They seated us at a nice, spacious booth and promptly took our drink order. We were greeted by our waiter, George, shortly thereafter and welcomed as first timers. George was incredibly helpful with appetizer suggestions and explaining specials and options for sharing. The wait-staff was incredibly attentive with water and drink refills, bread and butter, continuously asking if we needed anything. I ordered the mushroom soup (for an appetizer) based on the online reviews. And I DON'T like mushrooms!!!! It was AMAZING! (I liked it so much that I went back the next day to get it again! LOL) We shared the Caesar and Mamma Gina salads, cheese ravioli w/ alfredo sauce, shrimp scampi and pasta bolognese. Everything was beyond wonderful! The manager came over to check on us and make sure we were enjoying everything. Our waiter, George, continued to check and see if we were happy with the food and needed anything. I can't say enough positive things about the food, ambiance and experience at Mamma Gina's. I highly recommend dining there for any/all occasions. We showed up at 3, added our name to the waitlist and were second in line for a table. We then waited 45 minutes to get a table. Maybe a cook called in sick or something, there could have been a perfectly reasonable explanation, but seeing half the tables in the restaurant have empty tables whilst sitting outside was deflating. They still have great food and my go to is the pesto, which has super generous portions. But I think this might be my last time here as I will likely be checking out different restaurants in Julian next time I visit.

The service was excellent. Our waitress and Joe both waited on us and helped us make the best decisions. We were feeling a bit adventurous and ordered what they recommended. UPDATE: Okay, we stopped by here for a second time for a quick early dinner (same week) and it was delightful once again. We sat on their quaint patio with our dogs this time. It was very peaceful. Could hear many different birds and the church bell. We received a huge surprise when some angel who blessed us with paying for our dinner. Wow, what a special surprise!!! We do not know who it was, but what sweet act of kindness. We will certainly be paying it forward. Thank you to whoever you are and may God bless you immensely!!! Thanks again Joe for a wonderful meal and visit as always! You're the best!! We stay here in Julian around 3 or so times a year for a good couple of weeks. We will surely be back again and again when visiting the lovely town. :)

What we also found out, it was happy hour going on. Didn't even know this place offered happy hour as we've only been for breakfast and brunch. When we arrived it was slow. The whole patio area that's part of the restaurant and the side where the sidewalk was were both emptied. That in between time where brunch was finished and they were setting up dinner. Even with the mister and some of the shade, it was still pretty hot out so we opted for the patio section by the restaurant. We've never seen this menu so it was new to us. Honestly wanted their brunch menu but it was too late. The waitress working was basically doing everything as she was the only one on deck. Hostess, waitress and bartender. It did start to pick up while we were there. Drink wise, one of their Bloody Mary which comes with a slice of bacon and their lemon drop. Both very tasty. Food, an order of the ahi tuna salad. Seared tuna on top of mixed greens with crunchy onion, tomatoes, avocados and a really delicious ginger dressing. Quite tasty. The beet salad with added chicken. Beets tossed in a mixed greens with feta and roasted chicken. That too was quite nice. Lastly the veggies burger. Simple burger Pattie with all the trimming and served with seasoned fries. Of course the truffle fries were needed which was part of the happy hour. I can truly say that this place has amazing seasoned fries that's always a must for us. I didn't expect to see a different menu as were used to brunch but it was nice. Service was good for us as it wasn't too busy when we arrived with only one waitress working. It's a place that brunch is amazing hence we're alway back for that. I can say I've tried their other menu now.
