Where do I start. Ok here I go. The mile High Cafe is Not good, It is GREAT!!!!. The staff is friendly and consistent. The food? OH snap if it isn't over the top. Me and my dad, Roy Downing , go there at least twice a week, sometimes 3-4. We always go there when we have aircraft annuals to write off ( If you Own a airplane, you know what I mean). Here is a tidbit and it is funny too. One time I ordered a cheese burger and fries, When it came to the table, I was blown away buy the size!!!! I had forgotten how the cook was (Benny). He always said " If you leave here still hungry, then I didn't give you enough to eat baby." and he lives by that motto. I ate it all and I tell you this, it took every thing in my body to get it down and boy was it good in fact the best "fat" burger i had. So the next time we went, I ordered the "Jr" burger and when I got my "Jr" burger, I was still blown away! I said to Benny " This is a Jr Burger?' He replied " Sure is Baby." I then asked " What kid is going to eat this big ole thing?" he replied " A big kid and i am sure you can do it." well I did put that big kid burger down. A bit about the Staff and please forgive me if I forget some names: Michelle Is a crack up. she makes everyone feel like at home. she always smiles and makes the customers feel at ease. Every once in a while, she will come up with some off the wall comment or joke and you can't help but to laugh. She is awesome in my book. She looks after her staff in more ways than some owners. She has a big heart. Benny is a big guy but his culinary skills are off the hook. He catered movie sense for years and it shows. A+ chef, He is a Omelet king for sure. If you ever meet Benny, you will know right off hand that your food will be piled high. He likes to come out in the dinning room and sit with some of the customers on his break and have a cup of coffee with a snack and chat for a bit. Tony is, I believe is Benny's right hand man. He has a nack for creating some of the best soups i have ever had but his skills are not just soups. He has the same values as Benny. When he is in the kitchen, He doesn't like people to leave hungry either. You get Benny and Tony in the kitchen together, you are in for a real treat more like a feast. Way to go Tony. Rock it tony style. Lisa. Is usually our waitress. What can I say about her, She always smiles and she knows what we like but sometimes we change up to throw her off a bit and to see that surprised look on her face. She bust her butt to make sure every one she is assigned too is taken care of. She knows when we show up that I all ways get a water and a bloody Mary and my dad gets coffee. She makes us feel like good friends and that we are. she just about knows everyone that walks Thur the door by their name. way to go girl. OH and don't mention it is your birthday cause she has a memory like a steel trap and she will get you on your day of you show up during her shift. She delegates awesomely with the other staff members. Knocking it out of the park. Alicia. What a joy. she always does her job and does it well. Once in awhile she brings her son to work and he is just a little bottle of joy. She is is also smiling and seems to be happy with her roll in the waitress staff position. She takes her job pretty seriously but still takes the time to welcome everyone that comes Thur the door. keep it real girl. Penny. Wow what can I say. All tho she is mainly in the dish room, Penny is well rounded in several positions. She buses the tables, Takes a order or two, serves beverages and yes, I have seen her on the Line helping out the cooks. Where ever she is needed, you can bet she is on it like white on rice...Her personality is very pleasant and cheerful. What a joy. way to go girl. Cindy. Hum this is a toughie but not at all bad by any means. Cindy is the newest waitress member of the Mile high and as i can see from my observation she is a real mover. I mean she gets it done quickly. I think she drinks allot of coffee, lol. She to is like the rest of the Mile High Family, Pleasant and cheer full. I know Cindy is going to be part of the M.H.C family for a long time. Thanks Hun. As for the rest of the unnamed staff, They all work well together and together they make a great team thusly make the Mile High Cafe what it is today. So if you want a real experience, great food and leave with a full belly, You have to check out this place. The Mile High is A defiantly MUST SEE!!! OH Did I mention that the theme of the decor is geared around aviation? Well it is. If you haven't been To The Mile High, you need to. Once you go I promise you, you will be back. The Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. P.s. Mile High has the best gravy. Both my husband and I compare other restaurant gravy to Mile High. We have been coming to the Mile High restaurant for many years, both breakfast and lunch is good. We now like going to Taco Tuesday's. This is a great place for breakfast and lunch and service has always been excellent and we never have to wait very long to be seated. It is such a good cafe! Major improvement from the last place that was in this place.the entrance is better,it has seats now instead of stuff...you can seat yourself,it is all opened up and the service is quick. They are on top of everything. All the food served was delicious...I loved going there for breakfast. They were nice to us,and my kids. The waitresses were awesome,and so professional. The plate I got was really satisfying and yummy. I got 2 giant slabs of ham, hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy and then an extra spicy bloody mary to help with digesting a ginormous amount of food. Stopped in after a recommendation, just your basic high desert breakfast joint. Ordered the 1/2 ham steak, eggs and potatoes with biscuit and gravy instead of toast. Ham was a bit dry spuds only brown on one side and the microwaved biscuit hardened quickly, even the gravy couldn't save it. Service was good and the prices are reasonable. read more

The food portions are big and pretty good, but I ordered a "regular" sized orange juice (12 oz) and was charged $3.25 for it. Pretty ridiculous. Then when I checked the menu the large was priced as $3.25. I pointrd that out to our waitress who was unwilling to change it. Not comming here again. I have ate at Mile High many times. Very friendly, great food, always remembers what we like, they cater to my Mother so much, I love how they treat her and all her friends. It's always nice to know that when I hear she is going there, she and her friends are getting the BEST!!! Thank You "Mile High" for having the highest standards. We are "regulars" and come here every weekend. The food is always excellent, with hearty portions at a reasonable price. Whenever we have eaten at other places I am always reminded why we come here. This is good homemade food, not the generic stuff you get at other places. The staff is always super-friendly and greets us when we are here, even if they aren't assigned to our table. Lisa is my girl, though. What other reviewers have said is true: she remembers everything so be careful if you don't want the Happy Birthday song :o). Good food and great atmosphere. Honestly a gym. This place has it all. I like the fact that they gave my toddler a mickey pancake. :) Really nice people. The coffee is good and strong, the chicken fried steak was amazing. The banana bread homemade and amazing. Can substitute toast and get it instead for no extra charge. It's as good as it gets. No better breakfast in the desert, hands down. Food is incredible, servers are awesome, and management is even better. The difference is the servers care and they spend more on better ingredients. And it's a secret, but the bar serves some of the same food from 3-8pm. The wahoo tacos are my favorite, and the Bartender also rides the awesome boat. read more

My girlfriend and I frequent this restaurant every Sunday and the place is usally to capacity with customers. Great food, large portions, and VERY friendly staff. There is a bar upstairs with a good atmosphere from what I have seen, but I have personally never induldged. Until a couple months ago you use to have a great view of the airport from the resturaunt, unfortunately someone at the airport erected a bunch of hangars which now blocks 80% of what use to be a nice view. However, dont let that stop you from coming in for a bite of GREAT food and Good service. I highly recommend the Mile High Cafe at Hesperia Airport! read more

I had to give this place a 1 star because yelp will not let me use anything lower than that other wise it would be a negative 10, the worst breakfest i have had i ordered the ham steak, eggs and home fries with biscuits and gravy well the ham was dried out the home fries hand nothing in them just fried potatos no tast at all the biscuits were hard and the gravy was disgusting and the portion size was small and the service was crapy like we weren't even there but the eggs were perfect a+ on the eggs but for the rest very bad i paid $16.64 for 1 plate and 2 coffees (my wife and i shared) wont be back! read more

Went with family on sat 1/14/17, new location. We sat ourselves. Drinks were offered and given in a timely manner. Veggie and Denver omelet and french toast were ordered. Presentation and flavors were great. Hash browns were crispy, just right and not drenched in oil/fat as in other locations in the HD. I am pleased, and of course bringing all the family. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner. Sugar dispenser should have been cleaned the night before. Utensils were cleaned. Location was clean. Waitresses can be more inviting to customers, especially in regards to location. As a customer, I want to walk away knowing that I was appreciated and not just for the money. The food is so good here. The staff is super friendly, especially Laura. Their mimosas are really good. I wouldn't order a bloody mary, only because I watched one being made and they only splashed a tiny bit of liquor in there. Well....I never ate at this Mile High Cafe, nor at the old one at the airport. So, I can't compare the 2. However, I will say that I really dug the airplane seats in the lobby (apparently not a new idea, but I had never seen it before). The dining area lacked decoration and the pink decor has got to go!! Service was nice and friendly, which is the reason I give it 2 . Otherwise, YUCK! All canned, frozen, and store bought food. Very salty. Ice tea was fine. I ordered hash and eggs and hash browns. Hash was def from a can and most likely a low budget knock off brand. Hash browns were good. Eggs were blah and even ordered over medium, were still under cooked. Biscuit and gravy would have been decent if it were hot. . Buddy ordered a sad plate of pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Sausage def sat it in bowl all morning and was reheated. I do not plan on going back here. Nothing said Wow. The old restaurant that was there before...better. Sorry, you guys gotta step up your game if you want to compete against other down home restaurants in the area! read more

I won't complain about my chili size it was pretty good but ripped seats at my booth and a sticky table turn this diner way off. I used napkins for a table cloth it was that bad. Don't know how the fries get so burnt I asked to cook them lightly but they got burnt anyway, always are and of course they straight up suck. The staff is friendly the prices are fair but you've got to fix the rip in the seats and the sticky mess on the table tops or I won't be back. Folks that's just gross ! Mile High Cafe is a little hidden gem in our High desert. Michelle runs the front while Bennie cooks up the great food. There's always a lot of locals but being at the Hesperia Airport new folks are flying in as well. We always have an omelet with hash browns and the best biscuits and gravy in the high desert!! I'm not sure they even want people to know but I went to a wedding catered by Mile High and it was the best catered food we've ever had! My family has been coming to Mile High Café for years. We love the atmosphere, staff and food. The staff makes you feel like family and are eager to go the extra mile for you. We are partial to the Enchilada Omelet, but we have tried many other items on the menu and enjoyed them all.
