After church, we pick a different restaurant every week to have breakfast. This is one of our favorites it's hidden amongst neighborhood houses but it is the best for breakfast. Now I've never had anything else but breakfast there so I can't comment on their lunches but the food is so good and the attention to detail is so great that I have no doubt the lunches are equally as yummy. One of our favorite breakfast is believe it or not oatmeal - - don't laugh. We are seniors and have tried oatmeal at different places and this is by far the best it's hot and has all these great sides. Toast is done perfectly with just the right amount of butter and the coffee is great and it keeps on coming. The staff is super friendly. Overall, it's a Small Town High Desert atmosphere that deserves Five Stars. read more

Very cute little restaurant! Super cool old airplane seats in the waiting area are nice and add to the aviation theme. I love the food here, and always get the Rudy's Favorite, some sort of chirizo scramble that isn't too spicy but just right. they also have great Mimosas. This is my go-to place. Today i ordered a burger, half of the ground beef was burnt, tasted like you licked charcoal. My fries were soggy, not warm at all (possibly old). And the color of the fries were dark brown (old oil??). My friend ordered an omelette and got burnt hashbrowns. Price is great and amount of food is worth it. read more

I've been here a few times since it's opening. Bringing friends and family. Only for breakfast. The breakfasts are large so my wife and I spilt it. The breakfast is good. I have a complaint about the temperature of the food. Our latest time here we ordered Bacon, Avocado, Cheese omelette with biscuits & gravy. The biscuits & gravy was delivered about ten minutes before the omelette. The omelette was warm and the country potatoes were cool. This wasn't the first time this has happened to us. I don't believe this is the cooks fault, but the waitresses. Don't think we'll be going as often as we have been. Everyone is friendly and has a very nice atmosphere. read more

Just moved to the area and this cafe is close to home. Decided to give it a try. Two stars because the atmosphere is unique but that's it. When the waitress brought me my plate there was a piece of hair in it and on top of that our waitress didn't provide good service. It wasn't busy either. Too bad because I really wanted to like this cafe. read more

I've been coming here for years with my family, long before they moved locations. I have no complaints super good consumer service, I always feel engaged in the conversation with there staff. Very friendly and kind all around. For there food I absolutely love it! Again i've been coming here for YEARS and no complaints about any of there food. I went there with my husband and two kids about a week ago. The food is pretty good but the service was bad and even made me mad. I'm not a person that complains and will even eat my food if it's not what I ordered but I felt completely ignored by all the waitresses. The ONLY reason we were served was because of the young guy with glasses (who I believe is the owner), super nice guy and very helpful. We were told to sit wherever we like and after we did all four waitresses kept glancing at us like none of them wanted to help us for the 10-15 minutes we waited to be asked what we wanted to drink. I've been a waitress for many years and it wasn't busy enough for 4 of them to ignore us. We waited too long with two toddlers just to get drinks and like I said the only reason that happened was because the gentleman who actually took care of us. The ONLY thing our waitress did for us when we finally realized who it was, was grab boxes for us. She didn't take our order, she didn't bring us drinks, she didn't check up on us until she brought us the bill and containers. Granted she was nice but that's not enough. It seemed as if the owner carries the workers here because he cares about his business as he should. Wish I could've tipped him. read more

I will be back for sure.... Although this trip wasn't the first visit to the Mile High Cafe, it certainly will not be my last.... I ordered the steak and eggs, and holy smokes, it was DELICIOUS. Huge steak for the price and very, very, good.. I am picky about my steaks being cooked properly, flavorful, tender, etc.... In fact, I rarely order steak at a restaurant because of it... They hit the nail on the head. I am certain that their BREAKFAST steak was better than any steak that I have ordered from any other restaurant in the High Desert.. The place feels a little less like a country kitchen, and a little more like an airport theme (surprised?) which is a very nice change for a breakfast/lunch place.... The dining room isn't huge so you could be waiting for a little while, but the food is most certainly worth the wait. During this last visit I noticed that they now have patio seating, but sitting outside in the summer heat may not be for you unless you arrive before the summer heat sets in.. The short: GO. Decided to stop on our way from San Diego to Vegas. It is a bit off the beaten path, but I can assure you it is worth it. We started with Biscuits and Gravy. One of the best I have had and the only time I have ordered it in California. Up until today I thought the only way to get good gravy was to be in the South. I agree the hash browns are perfection. The portions are large, the prices reasonable and the service super friendly. Most everybody there is a local, but don't worry they will treat you well. read more

My husband & I have been here many times , for breakfast , and lunch , and it has been delicious every time . I mostly see one guy back there cooking , and everything he cooks has amazing flavor . Stuff I couldn't copy at home even if I tried . Yeah the service is lacking in friendliness with some of the ladies that work there , but I'm not trying to make friends . I stopped in Sunday around 9:00 a.m. Place was busy, about a 5 minute wait for a booth (table immediate seating) I ordered the veggie omelet, hash browns, biscuit and gravy, ice tea and salsa. Waitress/server was efficient and desert friendly throughout the meal. Order took 7 minutes or so to be delivered. Presentation was excellent. Now for the food.. The omelet was good size for the money,chock full or vegetables with a half of a good sized avocado covered with melting real cheese (not weak American) on top. Fortunately the taste equaled the looks. The hash browns were done about right but luke warm (HINT: Visit Mama Kat's in San Marcos and learn how they do hash browns. They do a tremendous business and your business will increase because of better hash browns...plus they push their great cinnamon rolls (add on $$$). It is worth the drive to check it out..Don't doubt me on this) Back to the food. The biscuit was decent size and fresh. The gravy I am not sold on. Just an odd taste to me similar to some other restaurants. Salsa was decent. Ice tea was good, but as with coffee I hate paying $2.75 for a glass or two. Looking around at other plates as well as mine it is obvious they have steeped up their game since they moved from the airport. I will be back for breakfast and to try lunch items. read more

We go to mile high every weekend, sometimes 2 times. We love their service. When we go in there we only ask for Lisa, our drinks are at the table when we sit down, she knows and loves us so well. She knows what sides we like, what food we order, and how we like it. It's great having a server that's more than a server. We definitely love the food but we go back because Lisa is so awesome. read more

This place is absolutely delicious! I am disappointment I didn't eat here when I first learned about it last year. I have eaten here twice within a month and had breakfast both times. The people I brought loved the food almost as much as I did. I like the portions because most restaurants give too much food, which I think is wasteful but I was able to finish my meal. The service is outstanding too! Depending on what time you go, you might have to wait because seating is limited. I went Sunday at 1130 at had to wait 15 min but I went on a weekday at 1 and had no wait. The place closes at 2, so hurry in for delicious meal! Also there is a bar upstairs I just learned about... Amazing food the SOS gravy is amazing and the service was really fast. When you first come in you see the old plane seats I was a bit confused at first wondering if I sit there and wait for the tray table to come down but hey its a fun place. The lady told me she had the best biscuits and gravy in town she didnt lie and I didnt finish them I had 1 piece left but they were filling. Definitely a nice place read more

This place was recommended by some friends. I have to say we have been trying a lot of breakfast places in the high desert, boy! Is it hard to find a good place. I love that they use a real egg and not a pre mix for scrambled eggs. The service is friendly and food is good. Prices are okay. For my husband and two girls we pay about 60 with tip. The place looks a little outdated but clean . Been there a few times and wait times are not bad and service has always been good. No complaints. The country fried steak and eggs is good the banana bread is dry so don't bother ordering. Pancakes are okay. The biscuit and gray is yummy. Overall is a good place. I gave four stars because pancakes were ok and they hr prices are high. It's worth a shot read more

I really enjoyed my experience here! This was my first time here, and I felt like a regular. Servers were friendly and attentive, quickly replenishing drinks. Food was delicious! I ordered the big veggie omelet and it was amazing! Half an avocado, plenty of fresh veggies, covered in cheese! The home fries were cooked perfectly! Nice and crispy but not at all greasy like others I have had. Bathrooms are clean and well supplied. The decor reflects the environment of the hangars with airplane photos, etc. very homey and quaint. Can't wait to come back! read more
