I stopped here for breakfast before heading back home from my trip. The service was pretty great and I liked that they were practicing social distancing with their seating on the patio and when it came to ordering inside. When I went I was able to get a table away from the main patio. It was nice also seeing them cleaning the tables after people would leave. I wish I would have taken pictures of my breakfast burrito. Not impressed, food ok, they advertised chicken and dumplings and it's Chinese chicken and dumplings not southern chicken and dumplings and it had absolutely no flavor. I was in Idyllwild for business purposes on 7/28/2020. It was getting late and we needed to find a place for lunch. Certainly there are many choices in the area, we were fortunate to be close to Mile High Cafe and stopped here. It was an outstanding choice! I generally do not write a review of an establishment until I have been a few times, the exception being in tourist areas such as Idyllwild. Like all humans, a restaurant can have an "off" day and it might be unfair to review it. Think of someone writing about Babe Ruth on a day when he struck out 4 times in one game. You would think he was a horrible, totally without talent hitter, not one of the greatest of all time! Upon walking in we were greeted in a friendly voice. The man behind the counter was masked up so I can not say he had a smile, but there was a smile to the voice. As it turned out my associate and I both ordered the Tuna melt on sourdough. It comes with swiss cheese and a slice of tomato. I suppose if you did not like that you could ask them to hold or change it. The sandwiches were ample in the amount of tuna salad, not like some places where it is only a thin serving. The sourdough bread was nice and not thin but not overly thick. The toasting on the bread was to perfection! Golden and crisp, but with the interior of the bread not dried out. My associate had cole slaw and said it was "pretty good" while I chose the regular fries for my side. The fries were once again, absolutely perfectly done. Crisp and crunchy on the outside with that soft center most people love. They are not the thin style of fires like McDonalds or In-n-Out, they are thicker. There is also the option of sweet potato fries. While I have rarely been in Idyllwild, if circumstances have me in the area again, I will not hesitate to stop or recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal. read more

I got the beef bulgogi fried rice with extra and my boyfriend got the breakfast combo. This os some of the BEST bulgogi I have ever had and it's perfectly seasoned. I hardly even used the soy sauce I got on the side with it, which is rare for me. The home fries are definitely worth it as well. Bad service!!! The owner is too cheap to get two waiters on the weekend. Waited 15 minutes to get seated then waited another 30 minutes to get order taken and they never brought us our drinks or any water. No common curtesy no good customer service what so ever. Two white ladies came in the room and were immediately taken care of and brought coffee and water. And we were left with our jaw open and still no water. This place is a joke. I decided to stop here after a ranger at the local ranger station told us that it was the best restaurant in town. Needless to say, it was! We decided to get an appetizer, and Jason suggested the Brussels sprouts. At first, seeing as I don't particularly like Brussels sprouts, I was going to decline, but after he told me what was on it, I wanted to try. They were flash fried, topped with feta and bacon. It was so crispy, delicious, and flavorful. I would definitely recommend it! I had the Garlic Texas burger, which was huge, meat was perfectly cooked, and everything on the burger seemed to be made fresh. My husband had the half Reuben, chicken tortilla soup combo, both of which were very tasty and also was made in house. The house ginger ale is also very tasty! Not overly sweet, with a bit of a bite. Definitely worth it! If you're in Idyllwild, definitely try this place out! Next time we are there, we will try the Korean food side of the menu! We popped in from a long rainy drive 5 minutes to closing on a less than sunny but beautiful afternoon in Pine Cove and got the most welcoming greeting in a warm cozy place that just smelled absolutely yummy! We took our food to go, but before we left, the gentleman serving us gave me such an awesome tip on a park to go to which made our whole journey there a most breathtaking delight. To top it off we enjoyed the most delightfully satisfying warm, tasty chicken dumpling soup with a mouthwatering flavorful deeliciousss serving of their Bibimbap at the Snow Park! Awesome breakfasts (I had the corn beef hash) and the best tasting cinnamon rolls from the coffee shop attached. These are the best tasting cinnamon rolls I have ever had. They had that slight gooey consistency in the middle, and the favor was fantastic! They bake a limited number, and go fast. I ordered a half dozen to go the prior day, to make ensure we got ours! Just go here. I saw that their menu offered a Monte Cristo sandwich, alongside a truly insane number of other menu items. I was astonished at the variety in the menu, and that they dared to make things as decadent and weird as a Monte Cristo (look it up, trust me). I did not expect success- a big menu is hard for restaurants to manage, and this was an ambitious menu. I was interested, and decided to try and call their bluff, expecting passable food. I devoured that ridiculous fried ham and cheese sandwich, jam and all, and it was good. The bulgogi was pretty good too, which is great, because bulgogi rules. The hollandaise was nicely done and the poached eggs perfect. The potatoes could have been salted before plating but got crispy on the hot plate, which was a nice crunch. Took the recommended spot by a local. I was more then impressed!!! This placed exceeded all of my expectations! When we walked in we were greeted right away with a smiley face. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated but enjoyed the amazing live piano music. The menu items were a fantastic Korean/American mix something you don't see everyday. You have the option for breakfast or brunch. I ordered the smiley face pancakes for a little one. When it arrived for the holidays they made the cutest pancake snowman! I ordered the Juevos Rancheros. I was taken back by the splendid presentation of the plate along with tastes of flavor in every bite that are unforgettable. It was delicious!!! I asked for teriyaki sauce on the side, which I made a such a good decision. I know we visited during pretty busy season and lunch time, over the labor day wknd. I do expect about 30~40min wait in general when you go to restaurants especially this type of season and hours. Not sure if owner does same thing. The owner of this place helped us seating and giving us menu. I'd give her credits on attempting to seat us earlier than offered, but then we would not mind waiting anyway, like I said again. Then she kinda took us, was with my 15month old baby, to outdoor patio under this over 80 degree warm/hot weather. We declined seating selection she offered, and she seemed unhappy. When we tried to place an order right after seated, (we had waited about 10~15min so had chance to look at the menu by that time) she said "meaning that you guys are seated earlier than it's supposed to does not guarantee for faster food service and delivery. we are short on servers which we are working on it at this time" and left. later another server came and took our orders. brought my food back with brown rice instead of white rice I ordered. Awesome place for breakfast!! I am so glad to have stumbled upon this gem. They have it all from unique Asian/American fusion food, service, and ambiance. Immediately after walking in it felt like we would be in for a treat. On a Sunday morning we were lucky to experience some live piano music. He played a lot of fun hits from old tv shows and movies. It set a great romantic vibe for me and my husband. We ordered the soft shell crab Benedict and bulgogi breakfast burrito. Both were AMAZING. The salsa served with the burrito was made in house. You also can't go wrong with anything that has soft shell crab. I've never thought to use it in a Benedict but WOW I wish more places served it. read more
