Last time I came here for a Mother/ Daughter lunch with my daughter. This time it was a Mother/ Daughter lunch with my mom, so I was the daughter this time. Mom ordered an M Classic breakfast while I ordered the Tofu Lettuce Wraps. There was no mention of cilantro in the description of Tofu Lettuce Wraps on the menu but I made sure to mention to our waitress anyways, "no cilantro." She asked if it was an allergy and I told her it wasn't an allergy but "I just really don't like it." Despite the fact that the menu never mentioned cilantro, and despite the fact that I actually specified, "no cilantro", I took a bit of my dish and to my horror, realized that there was cilantro in my dish. When I informed the waitress that there was cilantro in my meal, she offered to have the kitchen make it again, without cilantro. I opted to just choose an entirely different dish instead, so I chose the Avocado Toast. Guess what? Another lady came out a few minutes later and informed me that for the Avocado Toast, the kitchen uses a smashed avocado mixture that is premixed with cilantro in it. What is it with restaurants thinking that it's OK to not mention cilantro on the menu when dishes contain cilantro? I know I'm not the only person in the world who has an aversion to cilantro. The lady asked if I would like to have just plain slices of avocado on my toast instead of the smashed avocado mixture. Yes...of course I'd prefer that, and so I confirmed that yes, I would like plain slices of avocado on my avocado toast instead. Disregarding all the cilantro trouble I had on this visit, food was pretty good. Service was a bit slow though. I think I will take a very long break from dining at Milestones after this most recent visit. read more

I like Milestones and it has been a long while since I last dined in one. We decided to meet here for brunch/lunch. The lunch menu is a separate piece of paper, not in the regular menu. Be sure to ask for it. I decided on the avocado toast because it has poached eggs. I requested for runny yolks and was told that's "soft". It was so soft that the whites were also a bit runny. Not what I really wanted. My friend requested for medium and hers were also a bit too runny for medium. The avocado toast was soggy from the plenty of sauce over the eggs. I could barely see or taste the avocado. Really not the best dish. The potatoes did not have the crispy edges and fluffy insides. They were quite bland and subpar. Another friend had the M bowl which looked good but maybe not the best either. She didn't finish it. Same for another friend who had the Mac and cheese duo. Maybe the regular lunch or dinner items would be better here? Lovely place with plenty of seating. Our server was new and made some mistakes but she was lovely and trying her best. We ordered Spinach & Artichoke Dip, I had Mushroom Soup, my husband had Cakes by the Sea, our friend had French Toast, all very good. Steve was our waiter, one of the most pleasant & attentive waiters we've had in years. So appreciative of his demeanour & his service. We were happy that we opted to choose the dine out Vancouver menu at Milestone's. We chose the 3 course lunch for $35. There was either Caesar salad or French onion soup to start. We found the Caesar salad to be tasty, just the right amount of dressing with a few leaves of Kale. A different touch but yummy. For the entrée you can choose beef, chicken, shrimp, or mushroom. Suitable for all palates. I had the shrimp creole which had plenty of shrimp enough for 2 meals! Dessert was either white chocolate cheesecake, chocolate raspberry sorbet or ganache torte. We both had the ganache torte. The menu said almond crust but ended up as a walnut crust. I didn't like the chocolate & walnut combo. Avoid this if you have nut allergies. Portions were plentiful! Their other lunch Dine Out Special was $45 which had more selections but wasn't in my budget. They offer Dine Out for both dinner and lunch with reservations available. If Dine Out isn't for you, they had an extensive regular menu to suit all appetites. Take advantage of their happy hour from 3 - 6 pm with deals on appies, wine, and beer. I went to this place on Sunday early lunch. This place is located at one end of the Park Royal Mall and it was pretty quiet when I arrived. This place has a beautiful patio and a great bar near the entrance. I was seated at a booth near the bar table. On that day, I ordered the Roast Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. The dish tasted great and presently beautiful on the plate. The beet was a little under-cooked but it added texture to the salad. The goat cheese were a pair with the blue berries and the greens. AFTER THE FACT I am actually really surprised at the rating for this location and I am glad I did not look this up on Yelp beforehand. LOCATION Very easy to be located off the main street as it does have a nice broadway-like sign in front of the restaurant. I wanted to find a dining spot that was close to my Airbnb so I did a quick browse on my Google map and saw this spot. PARKING The restaurant has it's own designated parking lot so that is nice. And perhaps to the locals, this place ain't a place they would dine whereas us visitors - we do not know any better? Thus, a whole lot of parking spots available. SERVICE Sweet young ladies greeted me and seated me. Soon after, my waiter (in which I have forgotten her name) came and took my full order (because I am a very decisive person). Throughout my time there, she was nice, warm, professional and checked-in on me adequate times. FOOD I ordered the Sirloin Steak with rice. It was good. Stopped in this weekend for a first visit. The atmosphere and decor is pleasant and sleek, however, our menus and seats weren't completely clean. We ordered the chicken Cesar salad and the pesto chicken penne Asiago for our meals, and artichoke spinach dip for an appetizer. While all the food was hot and looked appealing, it was all quite average...everything had a frozen, "restaurant chain" taste. As for the menu selection, we found it to be quite limited. The service was friendly and fast however, and the location good. Our overall experience was just ok...I'm not so sure the food stood out enough to bring us back. read more

Went to Milestones Park Royal last night with my partner. The service was great. The presentation of food was good but the taste was very mediocre. Ordered the Spicy Thai Basil Noodles but it has no basil in the entire dish. The waitress was kind enough to ask the kitchen to clarify and said there may be some basil in the sauce they use but there was none!! The noodles had no spicy taste. Plus it was too thick and hard. We were so hungry so we ate it anyway, but for $21 plus tax and tip, we expected it to be better than Thai Express, which it was not :( For the Ahi Tuna Power Bowel, the chilled kale noodles are slimy. The butternut squash and golden beets are too hard compared to the tuna, not very pleasing combination. For $23, we expected it to be better than Cactus. Overall, we left full, which is good, but not satisfied. The food quality is really left to be desired. :( read more

Poor Milestones...given the length of time they've been in business, you'd think they'd be making smart decisions. But they just can't get it right. What used to be the best Eggs Benedict in Vancouver is now cold, nearly-hard eggs, sitting on a pile of shredded ham--no back bacon. To add insult to injury, their formerly excellent potatoes have been replaced with soft fries covered in what appears to be chili powder--if I wanted something spicy, I would have ordered something spicy. And they used to serve fruit--that's gone too. Another remarkably awful dish on their menu is something they call the Caprese Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Absolutely revolting. You get this soft bun that's falling to pieces. There is nothing 'Crispy' inside. And you can't taste the chicken because it's got tons of garlic sauce and Provolone on it. Inedible. So I take it home to give the 'chicken breast' to the dog. I wash off all the junk, and then find I have to scrape off about 1/8" of breading. And discover that the 'chicken' is a thin piece of compacted slurry--they put the garlic and provolone and onion on it to mask the fact that this $22 sandwich is just factory junk. The McChicken is far superior; it's real chicken and you can share it with your dog. read more

I walked into milestones last night at 7pm and the place was empty. Not a single employee at the host stand to greet us. We waited 4 minutes as the bartender ignored us and then we left... So I'll have to give them my review from 1 year ago. Burger came out cold and the steak was medium well instead of medium rare. 1/5 I smell I dying business. read more

It's been a long while since the last time I ate at Milestones for Brunch and there weren't many choices for a sit down restaurant meal in the area at Park Royal. Back in the day, Milestones was always the place for brunch, so I thought I could not go wrong. I ordered from their weekend brunch menu and I picked the Prime Rib Hash which was noted as their signature dish. There was barely any prime rib and the hash was limited too. I mean, seriously, potatoes aren't really that expensive and there was maybe about two tablespoons of prime rib. I could definitely see this dish as an appetizer and not a main course meal. At my table, we also had the Roasted Garlic Caesar Salad and Banana Nutella French Toast. The Caesar salad was quite good, as it had romaine lettuce and kale which adds a different texture and it had a really nice roasted garlic flavour. I didn't try the French toast, but it was very sweet and that was no surprise at all. My complimentary dessert which was white chocolate cheesecake was good for someone who isn't really a fan of white chocolate, but it just a little too sweet for my taste. read more

A group of 10 tourists went in for fish and chips at 4pm. Waiter said window seats were not available even if seated separately. However we noticed they seat white people at windows. Non white were seated not at windows. Secondly, we went in for fish and chips that guide recommended. They advised different menu for upstairs and downstairs. We allowed 2 hours for lunch. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that they were able to accommodate a party of 18 people on short notice on a Saturday night. My only other experience here is for a low-key brunch which was utterly unmemorable, so I'm going to stick with our recent dinner experience. I know seating and serving 18 people is tough, but there were some hits and misses. They sent up a long table for us and drinks and appetizers were brought out in a timely fashion. On to the food! The pieces of calamari were huge, the spinach artichoke dip was blah and tasteless, and I had a bite of some chicken that almost had me breathing fire. Luckily, I had a nice cold beer to take the burn away. Our entrees came out in a few waves and I was among the lucky few to get their food first. My steak frites was pretty decent in that it was cooked well and I enjoyed the sauce. They also mistakenly gave me both regular and sweet potato fries, so no complaints there. An order of soup which was presumably ready first was one of the last to arrive. Eventually, everyone got their food and most finished eating before my fiancé even got his steak. He was literally the last one to get his food after multiple assurances they were working on it. His steak and mashed potatoes were completely bland and needed a good douse of salt to make it palatable. The manager apologized profusely for the delayed entrée and ended up taking it off the bill. Overall, service was super great and friendly, and they checked in on us fairly frequently, but the food was just mediocre for the price. We appreciated the fact that they didn't charge us for the steak that arrived supremely late. Bottom line, I think if Milestones is trying to compete with Cactus Club and Earl's, they really need to step up their food game. read more

This has quickly become one of my favorite places to go out. They have by far the best caesar salad I have ever had. I used to go to the Keg for steaks but I find them to be so much better here, which is strange as there owned by the same company. My friend and I popped in to the patio for a quick bite after a nice summer walk. We ordered the harissa chicken wings and the iconic fun & tonic from their summer menu. Wow. The chicken wings?? I haven't been this impressed by chicken wings..ever! They were so incredibly juicy inside and the harissa spicing on the exterior was just the right amount. It was so good we ordered a second round! The blue cheese dip in the side was also just right. I really enjoyed the whole thing! The Iconic Gin & Tonic was also a home run for us. Fresh lavender and coriander distilled fun with an orange peel twist and lemongrass syrup and tonic. So aromatic and fresh. Perfect for summer! Service was also attentive and friendly. North Shore's Milestone location with a gorgeous open patio located in the Village at Park Royal and bundle-packed with the other trendy chain restaurants, Cactus and Taphouse - great for groups and all ages. Mimosas, caesars and coffees in hand, our 16 friends enjoyed a Sunday brunch on the patio in celebration of our g/f's birthday today! It was delightful. We all seemed to have an enjoyable brunch while taking in some afternoon sunshine. As always, the dishes were well-presented and consistent. Came here with the fam on a nice sunny day. The patio was full and we were seated in the high bar chairs which are very awkward to get in and out of. Food came promptly and all at same time. I had the California burger which was packed with all my favourite ingredients. Candied bacon and avocado. The side caesar salad was wilty and the croutons were stale. Order the cookie dessert it's warm and chocolatey topped with a scoop of ice cream. Server was good with refills and she was very polite but not very engaging. We didn't want to be stuck in traffic getting back into downtown Vancouver, so we stopped for dinner at Milestones. We were greeted by a friendly server who told us she would find a host who would seat us. He appeared immediately and walked us all the way through the restaurant to a section where only one other party was seated. We waited awhile for a server to come to the table and when she did it was almost like she didn't have time for us. I asked for ice water and my husband asked for iced tea, but she didn't ask if he wanted sweet or unsweetened tea, she just took off. She dropped off our drinks and he discovered he had sickeningly sweet tea, which he wasn't expecting. She took her time coming back for our order but she was attentive to the fact that we didn't want onions on our food, making sure we don't have allergies. But then she took off before we could say anything about the tea. When the food was brought out she asked if we needed anything else. My husband asked if he could substitute the tea for a different beverage and she said she could bring him a Pepsi and turned and dashed off before I could request more water (which she should have noticed I needed). She brought the Pepsi and again dashed off without asking if we were OK. So I got to ration the last 1/4 glass of water throughout the meal. The sandwiches were just OK. My "rustic chicken club" was lacking in chicken as only one half was filled with chicken and the other half had about two bites worth of chicken. The bacon was also divided in an irregular way. A good sandwich should have all the sandwich elements in every bite. I left a good portion of the mayo-laced bread on the plate. My husband's "crispy chicken sandwich" was equally disappointing...edible, but not all that great. When we were ready for the check we had to flag down the server, and when she brought the check we noted that she had charged my husband for BOTH beverages rather than substituting as she had told us she would do. When I pointed the error out to her she flippantly took the bill and said she'd talk to her manager about it. We never saw her again. About 5 minutes later another person brought the new check to our table along with the credit card machine. I was having a difficult time with the machine and he took it and said, "you just push this button for amount of tip (there was no provision for NO TIP and he pushed the 15% button), then push the button that says, "yes, you'd recommend us," (which he also pushed himself) then this button and you're done." Then he gave me my receipt and disappeared. Not a great experience, Milestones. And since I didn't get the chance to push the "wouldn't recommend" button, here's my review. read more

We went here because it was a 45 minute wait to get in Cactus. The staff were fine except the waitress didn't tell us she was bringing us Pepsi when we asked for Coke. The "signature" steak sandwich was almost inedible. The steak was full of gristle and the cuts so large it was a chore -- I was not given a steak knife. The salad was bland and my family's burgers had no sauce, quite dry. I haven't been to Milestones in years and will never go back. It cost me $99 for three burgers & "cokes". read more

am not returning to this MILESTONE'S because I had a bad experience. Our family goes loves the burgers and salads and we went in to have a light lunch with our 2 year old. We ordered our favourite salad and a burger combo and fries to share with our little one. When our order arrived, there were no strawberries in the salad. NO BIG deal if they told us that they ran out and substituted something for it. But the server walked away without a single word. We were focussed on feeding the 2 year old that when we looked at the salad, we noticed it right away. We waited for the waiter/server to return and asked her about it. She said, they just ran out of strawberries when our order when in and could not stop the order. Well, then, she should have immediately told us and told us when the food came so we could change our order to something else. NO APOLOGIES. Just ... here is the info. Normally if there was a situation, they would offer a substitute fruit on it. Well, the bill came and we got charged exactly for the salad as it. I asked the server about the salad price as the key item was left out. She said she would have to talk to her manager. The manager returned and said he could only take $1 off. I didn't care about the $1. As someone who loves and worked in the food industry, service and empowerment is primary to helping your employees take responsibility. We paid our bill and did our usual 15% tip but left there with just a bad feeling. I then realized that if the SERVER/WAITOR took ownership, we would be fine paying whatever. ALL she had to do was to BE UPFRONT. Why did I have to flag her down 2x to get an answer? Well, I spoke to the manager and told him exactly that. We would have ordered something totally different if we knew there was no strawberries. That is our favourite salad and without it... well it not the same. We were tired and hungry and had a 2 year old to tend to. So we finished our salad. The PRINCIPLE is that we had to talk to the server 2x and 2X to the manager. After my honest feedback that all she had to do was tell us and not let us flag her down for an explanation, everything would be different. Well on our way out the door, the manager then offers a free appetizer or salad for our next meal. There WON'T be a next time for me a in long time. read more

I later overheard that the kitchen was really backed up. So why weren't we told that and/or that there would be a wait? Of course, my requested dish was incorrect. How the HECK can you mess up a Veggie Burger? I requested no bacon on my Caesar salad, which obviously was garnished with loads of bacon bits! Wow, although Milestones was great before the renovation, it has somehow gotten better. I didn't realize they closed for renovation until I craved a good brunch. Once it reopened, my family and I decided we would have a birthday brunch there for my uncle. Outside has been freshly painted with black paint, making it stand out from the mall behind it. Inside has been renovated, booths are now refurnished, tables and chairs were new. The restaurant now has a rustic family feel to it. We were seated at a 8 person table, and the waitress was helpful with ordering our food since the menu has changed. One thing that caught my eye on the menu was the Crispy Chicken and Waffle. Since it is an American classic, I wondered if they could handle living up to such a traditional dish. The description on the menu said: Crispy chicken on a Belgian sugar waffle, topped with poached egg, spinach, roasted red onions, and bacon gravy. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo because it looked too good I couldn't resist. The chicken was perfectly golden brown and crispy, and the waffle was sweet and soft. Spinach helps the dish seem less like a guilty pleasure, and the bacon gravy was delicious on top of the chicken. Also served with potato cubes. Plating could be more neat since it looked like they thrown it on the plate. Otherwise, the meal I had was 5 star quality!
