Location for this branch of Earls is unbeatable. Walking distance to Ambleside, by the sea and sand. So picturesque. Food was impressive. I ordered a Vegan Korean Bibimbap. It was served in a scalding hot bowl. The rice was crispy at the bottom and I was amazed at how well it retained its heat. Even when I blew on each spoonful to cool it down, it was still piping hot when it entered my mouth. My niece ordered some tacos and said they were really good. She said she had ordered them before so they must've been good indeed since it was a repeat order for her. My mom's Avocado Benedict looked really good. I will have to try ordering that for myself next time! Service was "meh". It was one of those situations where I could see our server but he was constantly facing the wrong direction. I recently visited Earls Kitchen + Bar and sat on their patio, which is dog-friendly -- always a big plus if you're out with your pup. The patio itself is in a beautiful spot and they've added patio heaters, which makes it comfortable even when it's a bit cooler outside. The food was good overall, and the menu is what you'd expect from Earls -- solid options with something for everyone. Unfortunately, the patio cleanliness took away from the experience. When we sat down, there was bird poop on my cutlery and water glass, which meant I had to ask the manager to replace them. After that, they brought out another glass that had bird poop on it. So, I also had to ask for the entire table setting to be refreshed so everyone had clean utensils and glasses. To make matters worse, there was bird poop on the couch cushion as well. I understand patios can be tricky with birds around, but it did feel like the table area should have been checked and cleaned before seating guests. Overall, it's still a nice patio, dog-friendly, and the food was good, but I'd recommend the staff do a more thorough check of the outdoor seating before guests are seated to avoid situations like this. I had a simple dinner here at the bar. A standard Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Salad was exactly as it should have been and the spicy chicken was an excellent addition. Visited this Earls with my mom and brother for a little pre birthday celebration. The location on ambleside is awesome and the restaurant is very bright and airy with expansive windows both on the restaurant and the lounge side. The lounge side seems more happening and we got a table there. Service was fast a great and very attentive. We have the three cheese spinach dip that came with toasted bread slices. Very yummy and different than what I expected. I had an spero spritz that was well prepared and served in an aperol glass. For dinner I got their sushi and steak combo. The steak was a bit tough even at medium rare but the sauce was nice and had a kick to it. The sushi roll that came with it was just ok. Nothing to write home about. We also had the truffle fries that was very tasty. My mom had the chicken Caesar salad and my brother ordered the deluxe burger that he really enjoyed. read more

I eat here regularly and usually it's solid, but lately the inconsistency is getting hard to ignore. Today was especially disappointing. Service was slow -- waited about 10 minutes before anyone even offered water. I ordered the Queen Bee pizza, one of my favourites, and was surprised to find the capicola swapped for sliced ham. When I asked about it, the chef pushed back. Look, I might not know everything, but I know the difference between ham and capicola. I paid my bill, tipped my server, and left feeling pretty confused and let down. The food quality, presentation, and overall vibe just aren't what they used to be. It's slowly drifting into West Van "Denny's" territory... just without the pancakes or a Moons Over My Hammy to make it worth it. Pro tip: avoid the back seating area if you can -- it's loud, uncomfortable, and has zero energy. Came here for happy hour on the way back from Whistler. We got seated right away on a Sunday afternoon, although the restaurant was busy. The lighting is perfectly cozy and intimate. Our server wasn't the best, seemed to rush us. But the happy hour deals are really good, the steak frites for $25 is such a good deal, cooked perfectly medium rare. My partner ordered the creole chicken and he really enjoyed it. Ordered a couple appetizers as well: avocado dip, a go to and truffle fries. Really not sure what's going on with the Earl's WV. 5 years since my last poor review, thought we would give the place another try. Obviously the food is great, classic Earl's quality that we've come to know and expect. However i really cant understand what's going on with their systems and processes. 5 years later, they still running out of plates and glasses. We had 5 different servers inundate our table with pop. And while they asked if we could leave within 2 hour window, for another big party, we came a half-hour early and they still had to rush us out. Really not sure how after so many years here, they still can't get their process down. This is not my favorite Earl's despite its great scenic location. The servers are very cute and very friendly but they were also very slow with the orders and they made mistakes with the food orders. Food quality is similar to other Earl's locations and I would still recommend this place for bringing tourist friends. It's a great location with convenient parking options close to the restaurant and it also offers nice ambiance for drinks. Bring your date to enjoy a walk in the area and just be prepared to keep up good laughs and conversations when waiting for your foods. Typical Canadian chain restaurant and is great for bringing visitors. A friend from Asia was visiting and we came here for lunch. He was raving about the burger here. He said the quality of the beef and juiciness of the patty couldn't compare to what he gets back home. I guess we tend to forget vancouver still does burgers and steaks pretty good here, despite the availability of other cuisines. I had the Turkey sandwich on sourdough and that was delicious too. The description included avocado and I could not see it. Turned out they meant avocado spread on bread, not avocado slices. I was a bit disappointed as the thought of avocado slices in sandwich was my reason to order this. The truffle fries was so yummy. A must order! I much prefer the brunch dishes here. My first time here to celebrate a birthday. The service is good, for the most part, but that's about the only good thing I can really say. First the lighting is so dim you can't read the menu. The food and menu is really disappointing for the price. - the Chicken Biriyani, after talking to the waiter turns out not to be a biriyani at all. It is curry served with rice on the side. That completely defeats the point of a biriyani, which is that the chicken and rice are cooked and served together! If you are going to name a dish, at least be accurate! - the chicken risotto was terrible. The rice is not pearly or creamy at all, just like ordinary rice, and the chicken is really dry. - my Cajun salmon - it was too well done. Not quite overcooked but for a dish of this price, it should be melt in my mouth. It wasn't anything remotely special. - my daughters tuna poke bowl - the tuna was way too spicy, and my daughter couldn't eat it. The menu didn't say it was spicy. Also it was not presented like any regular poke bowl, with no sauce other than sriracha mayo. However, they did fix it by removing the spice, although it still looked weird. My other kids did like their burgers and fries. I wouldn't come back here, especially with the poor food quality given the price. Much better food can be found for much cheaper. read more

Between Earls and Cactus club - same owners - these places have monopolized the short order food choices in Vancouver. Vancouver residents lack choices for many things including fast food dining establishments like this one. As a result the place is always busy. Earls and Cactus club are basically fast convenience food places. The food is functional. Don't expect any gastronomical miracles. The establishments do well and the experience they provide is a notch above McDonald's. read more

It was lacking some more intimate lights or even outdoor decor the last time we were here, it was so dark in the afternoon. The food the x times I've been has been was consistent. From slushes to a great wine selection, great appetisers (crispy tacos; must order). Those small details of having Steak Frites and they actually provide a knife that actually cuts. I appreciate. Why 3 stars... service. Entering door with reservations, greeted from host, greeted from GM/Floor Manager. From "pending"/"waiting" at bar for our seats. My gut told me and all the visible signs, the chain of command was broken. Generally I wouldn't care if I had 2-3 hours to dine. We came in post tennis match and was still in half dri fit for a quick bite. We wanted it to be under 75 minutes. We were dining for 2.5 hours. My observation was they were staffed, the managers did check in. BUT! Most of the staff was trying to "keep busy". Walking by with one glass of wine, walking back not looking/ avoiding patrons cues, one staff even squatted down to chat with their friends who was dinning in. Another escape to a corridor looking at her phone. The 6-7 others servers that I witness just did below bare minimum and clocking time and not efficiency. We started with a Raspberry & Mango Margarita - refreshing on this gorgeous Saturday afternoon! I wasn't starving, so settled on a light dish the - Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. My date had the Mediterranean Ling Cod, which looked small when it came out but was filling, nonetheless. We felt the cod should have come with Jasmine Rice, but was still good as is. My dish knocked it outta the ball park - I do say! My taste buds were hopping with joy on every bite! EAB is a prime date spot & great for birthday celebrations. A large restaurant it will accommodate groups quite easily. The bar is quite vast & I can see it being a popular hangout spot through the hot summer nights! To be honest I am not one to have strong expectations or feelings in regards to this chain (Earls) of restaurant. Definitely go to EAB for a great time & experience, seeing beautiful people, & easy access to the beach after meal time makes a visit totally worth it! For those reasons I give it - 5 Stars. Well I start by saying I had heard good things about this restaurant and ambiance. The location of course can sometimes make a restaurant and this one is right across from the sea wall and has a great open format. Even the kitchen is exposed. But the staff is fairly young, young in knowledge, age, and experience. It was difficult to have order a steak cooked to medium. I found myself explaining the temperature and how I wanted the steak to only have it come out well done. All the sides I ordered were also not what came out. I have to assume this was an off night but the service, staff, and food was so unpleasant a manager had to refund everything. PROTIP: You should always tip even if you don't like the food. read more

WestVanMan: A blemish at brunch. Not the first time here and will be back being a local, but will need to be somewhat more demanding that I be served up what I ordered. Ordered the Earls Brunch last Sunday with the half avocado add-on. Food was generally well prepared and the potato pave was tasty and interesting, but the $4 half avocado was plated with half that, a quarter avocado. That makes it a $16 avocado! This restaurant sits in a state of art new building in super premium West Vancouver waterfront. View out to the sea is just fantastic and high ceilings and luxurious interior just makes it more appealing without being over powering. It just a delightful place to be in. Food is similar to their old Marine Drive restaurant before moving here. It's a solid four in terms of food and considering how busy it is here they do a good job. My favorites here are blackened cajun chicken and grilled salmon dishes. They used to make wicked good deep fried pork spare ribs. If you can come early they have great happy hour where you can enjoy beer or wine with many appetizers at great price. My wife and I come here for early dinner and beer time and just love the atmosphere here. Younger and more trendy crowd than Cactus. read more

My 12 year old son made reservations to celebrate his Daddy's birthday today. He wanted to make it special so Earl's Ambleside was his choice. When we made the reso we mentioned the celebration and that my son would be treating. He felt so proud to do this for his dad. They ordered lobster and steak and prawns. The food was outstanding. From the presentation of the plating to the delicious taste. The meal was very special. The staff were fantastic and made it a lovely celebration. Located in Ambleside West Vancouver along a beautiful street. Place has large windows with lots of natural light. Might be hard to get outdoor seating, more for couples. We sat inside which was just as cool with all the doors open and out of the sun. They have covid measures in place with closed off tables so we felt relaxed. I had the lobster prawn ravioli. I was hoping for a larger portion but I got to finish up my wife's Santa Fe salad which had lots of beans and chicken so I came out satisfied. The washroom had a 'closed for sanitation' sign on the door but nobody was cleaning. I went in anyways so that was weird. Went back to Earls for the second time last night. After enjoying our first trip, we were anxious to see if other menu items were as good. This go around we had the chicken Alfredo and the Yucatán chicken tacos. We did however order the spinach & cheese dip appetizer again, having loved it the first time. The dip didn't disappoint, and was even slightly hotter than during our first visit, a nice improvement. The Yucatán tacos were tasty, but we found the Alfredo to be one of our favorite Alfredo's we've had out. One other improvement, with the water glasses so small, we were given a water carafe right at the start this time...bravo. The service was again pleasant and speedy. Our waiter Peter went out of his way to provide exceptional service making us feel comfortable all while catering to our every need! He was amicable and we would come back again just for him. The food and drinks came very quickly for how busy the restaurant was, but was also fresh. Their drinks outside of happy hour specials are a bit on the pricey side for what you get, but is to be expected in a slightly upper scale environment. I had high expectations for this place considering how busy it is. I put off coming here for a couple weeks because new restaurants take about 2ish weeks to figure out a routine/flow because whenever I go to new restaurants right when they open i've always had a mediocre experience. So today I walked in with the expectation I would write a 4+ star review. We were seated immediately at a nice booth inside. A server didn't come until we were ready to order but a bus boy came by to fill up our water. For drinks we ordered one strawberry and one mango virgin margaritas. They were super sour without the alcohol and not filled to the top. I also thought they would blend this? Like they do at the Keg. We ordered quite a bit for three people. We shared Yam Fries, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Hot Wings. Yam Fries were really good-not much to say. Spicy Tuna Roll needed more spice and the rice was kinda mushy. Hot Wings were covered in too much hot sauce which made it salty, but the sauce reminds me of the ones at Cactus Club. My mom and brother shared a NY Strip with mash potatoes. They undercooked it the first time and we tried to catch our waiter's attention but he was busy talking to the staff so one of the women hostesses assisted us. The second time they cooked it was good. I had the Street Chicken Tacos from the happy hour menu so it was four mini tacos for $6 which was a great deal. Chicken was pretty salty, but everything else about it was meh. The waiter actually didn't ring this order in the first time so I asked the same hostess and she said it was 'lost in translation' kinda a bummer that I had to wait longer. For dessert we all shared the S'mores Cheesecake. Not very good, I was very dense and sweet. I expected it to be a little lighter of a texture. The marshmallows were also over torched and melted on the plate. Didn't look that appetizing. -- Service was not that great. Our waiter was not there half the time but the hostess was kind which I appreciated. The waiter also charged us 9.75 for each virgin margarita where we asked him why it was so expensive and there wasn't even liquor in it. He came back with a different check and each drink was now $5 so i'm glad I caught that beforehand. Not really surprised if i'm being honest. Many of the staff are teenagers and in the kitchen most of the chefs are all under 30 years old. Maybe we just got the wrong things. I will come back but maybe during brunch or late night. read more

I had to wait for my friend & staff was attentive asking if I was needed assistance, not like some restaurants where they let you sit off to the side. The atmosphere is wonderful, bright and modern feeling. The large windows let in a ton of natural light and the view of the water is perfect. I ordered the hot wings and garlic fries to eat and was slightly disappointed the fries were already starting to get cold when I received them. Also a wet nap would be a nice offering to those who order the wings cause it can get messy. I ordered the coconut mint margarita and it is the PERFECT drink for a hot day, very refreshing. BRUNCH HAPPY HOUR!! Yes, that's actually a thing and I am here for it! We came here for Father's day brunch and the place was packed. After about a 40min wait, we were seated at a patio table overlooking the water. Since we were on the shady side, it got a little chilly, but they have blankets available if needed. Compared to our neighborhood Earl's, this one seemed a lot nicer and the staff was super friendly. Maybe because it's so new? We loved that they had brunch happy hour! By far the best thing ever. After a round of coffee, we tucked into an assortment of dishes. Eggs bennie, the chorizo hash, avocado toast, and the breakfast bowl. Portions were fantastic, tasty and everyone was happy. My only gripe on the eggs bennie was that the artisan bread was hard to cut through. Also, they really need to replace their salt/pepper shakers. Considering how fancy they are, they just don't work! This location is not only in the best neighborhood near scenic walking trail and the view of Vancouver, but it has a killer patio and inside decor. Most importantly, the food and service is amazing. I couldn't believe the brunch happy hour prices! I am obsessed with the smoothie bowl, mussels, and salmon zen bowl. The wine list is top notch and I love how bottle of wines are 50% off once a week! Today we were seated for happy hour in the lounge and we had some deals on a marguerita pizza, coconut prawns, and spinach dip and it all tasted great. Myself and a few of my friends went to this Earl's for brunch. In 54 years of age, I have never had such horrendous service. The young man assigned to our table lacked very basic manners. Everything we asked for (latte, decaf tea, spoon) he claimed was not available at the restaurant. The orders were all late and and he would just throw the plate and cup in front of guests. The tea came with no sugar, no spoon, no milk. When we asked for sugar, he had just grabbed a couple of paper packs (no plate or anything) and just threw them on the table. During ordering, he just took one person's order then just left. We had to place the remainder of the order after another staff member inquired if we had finished our order. This young man's attitude completely ruined any memory of this day within our group. Our group will not be returning here anytime soon. I suggest people consider supporting other local restaurants instead of a chain that's become this complacent. read more

Went here as tourists visiting friends in West Van. Two families and 3 little kids. Service experience was similar to what others have noted here: slow and error prone. We were there to wind down and relax, so didn't care too much about the quality or service but at the end the unbelievably slow pace of food prep (1 hour for a couple of burgers!?) meant we ended up with cranky kids and frankly cranky adults, tablets and beers notwithstanding. Servers were forgetful (we forwent the ordered desserts) and mostly absent (ours left midway and I had to go grab someone to get us something). The location next to the beach would make you think it's got views or ambiance, but we didn't experience either. Food was good quality bar food, so it did the job. Terrible service. Thought this place would be nice and kid friendly. We were greated at the door and brought to our table. Once we settled down, there was no server to give us any water or acknowledge us for 20 minutes. We had to flag someone down, which I think was a bus boy or bus lady. She got us water and told us the male server would come. A few minutes later a female server came instead and took our order. The food was drop off by someone else and no one ever came by and asked us how it was. Had to flag another person walking by for the bill. There's like no communication between staff or something. Needs better training. We dealt with like 5 different people. Why seat us in a section where there's no server. I would not recommend this location. read more
