"I've done thousands of them" is what I bought into; for thousands of nonrefundable dollars per eye. Wrong lenses were put in after a 5 plus hour wait on a hospital operating table. How does this happen? The Doctors ability to perform this operation and to identify the wrong lenses immediately were his responsibility. The circumstances were poor at best and the results a disaster. The follow up visit was equally poor. He was less than professional. He told me the office was very busy with multiple competing demands, and a personal family loss distracted him during my consultation. So, he overlooked the fact that I now have to wear glasses fulltime for the rest of my life. At the cost of thousands of dollars.

The consultation was maybe 30 minutes, and the actual procedure didn't feel long at all, maybe 15 minutes tops. Afterwards, his eyes felt a little sore and sensitive, kind of like having something in your eye, but not unbearable. The soreness started easing up after a couple of days, and he experienced little hemorrhage. It had taken about 1-2 weeks to fully clear up. Nothing too crazy though--it all felt very manageable! He's so happy to not have to deal with glasses getting dirty, scratched up, heavy on his nose bridge or fogged up. He feels free and His eyesight is now 20/15.

Shortly after the visit, we both developed pink eye, which raised serious concerns about the care and hygiene during the appointment. During multiple follow-up visits, the approach felt repetitive and dismissive. Dr. Salzman primarily prescribed antibiotic eye drops at nearly every visit, even after my pink eye had already cleared. There was little explanation provided, and no meaningful discussion of what might be causing the ongoing issues. At one visit, she noticed an eyelash in my eye and again defaulted to prescribing more drops. At my last visit on Tuesday, I still had an issue with my left eye and was once again given antibiotic drops without a thorough evaluation or clear explanation. Overall, the appointments felt rushed and overly focused on prescribing medication, rather than carefully examining the issue or addressing concerns. I did not feel listened to or properly evaluated, and I left feeling frustrated rather than reassured. I expected a much more careful and patient-centered experience, especially for what began as a routine eye exam.

Trust me November 2023: I am disgusted by how I was treated by Dr Perl at my latest visit: After twice ignoring a question I asked about a lump I recently found growing on my eyeball, I said to Dr Perl, "i would appreciate it if you did not ignore me" Dr Pearl responded by throwing his hands in the air and loudly yelling at me, "I'm trying to work!" I replied, "I'm your patient. I'm asking you an important question and you just keep IGNORING me..." And then, strangely, Dr Perl threatened, "Do you want me to leave!?" After which he got up and stormed out, without finishing with my examination or answering my questions about my lump. I was mortified and embarrassed by Dr Perl's behavior, though not at all surprised, to be honest. I have been coming to Corneal Associates for almost 10 years. In this time, Dr Perl has always engaged me with a simmering disdain and with only the bare minimum of respect and acknowledgement. His consistent disrespect (of ME specifically) is suspect, since I often also hear him delighting and delighted with other patients (especially young women). What is it about me that elicits such behavior from him, that leads him to believe he has the authority to do so? I think I know This behavior is unacceptable coming from a child on the playground - it is REMARKABLE coming from my doctor. It reflects so poorly on Omni Eye/Corneal Associates who clearly support and condone this behavior by not clearly condemning it. What a shame. Look elsewhere for eye care professionals who respect equally everyone - always - regardless of race, gender, insurance coverage, or any other incidental difference.
