Been going there to eat for 40 years now, I can't believe how downhill the food has become we ordered a Teri Beef plate, the rice was MUSHY, the Mac salad was SALTY. We also ordered the Portuguese fried rice and there seems to be some ingredients missing, just like the fried noodles. I'm disappointed as over the years I've ordered massive quantities of catering. I haven't eaten here in years, probably a few decades ago. I have to say that the fried saimin is not as good as I remember it being. This time around the noodles were rather hard so I didn't enjoy it. Their beef broccoli is also way too salty so it didn't sit well with me either. Their only saving grace was their lumpia and pork katsu which tasted fine. Their cold ginger chicken was also very delicious and is what I remember it. What's going on with this place? Il had the craving today and wanted to get my noodle fix. Got home and was greeted with this. I could care about not having the green onion but jeez it's so bland it's like they just boiled noodles and dressed it with half an egg and 1 oz of luncheon meat? Spam? I can't even tell because this dish has absolutely no flavor. Come on guys. For 13$ at least season the noodles. Long time Mililani Restaurant supporter. This is our first time getting an order of pork cutlet where it was super over cooked. All the pieces were dry and chewy and the fat was almost similar to chicharron style. Definitely a one off night but just wanted to share my experience. Located in mililani next to foodland (by Ross & 24 hour fitness). Lots of parking out front. My friends always talk about how good mililani restaurant is, so i decided to try it for myself. When i walked in, there was a bunch of people standing around for their food. I guess i came at rush hour. But i ordered their fried noodles with gau gee. The food came out so quick! We took it home to eat it, and it was yummy! Definitely will be going back there to try other things on their menu. Speaking of their menu they have a variety of things! It was a little overwhelming to look at, but i will definitely prepare myself before i go in again to know what i will be ordering. Inside, it was like your typical take out place. Came here for lunch today with my son after shopping around at food land. We tried the fried noodles and chicken Katsu add on. All together with tax was about $16 and some change. Price is average with other plate lunch establishments. I haven't come in here in years and the fried saimin tastes different to me? Maybe it's my palate and age lol but it was bland and the katsu tasted more like fried chicken vs the typical Korean katsu that's breaded in panko. There were hardly any veggies in the fried saimin but I think that's more local style. Overall food was okay but my son enjoyed it. Portion size was big. Service was great. The guy at the counter seemed busy but overall friendly. We came after lunch around 1:00p and it wasn't busy. Lots of tables inside to eat at and we decided to dine in. This place has got to be one of our go-tos during the month. I've just discovered the mini items which is just enough for lunch or small appetites. They give a little container of macaroni salad depending on what you order. I kind of wish it could be a choice of a tiny tossed salad as a healthier, more colorful option. Prices seem to keep increasing like everywhere else. The taste is good and consistent. Yesterday I saw a worker unloading what looked like a goodie goodie type cold item into a mini freezer in front of the cashier area. I am a resident of Mililani and have been going to Mililani Restaurant for several decades now and always loved their food. But going there this past Sunday made me write this review after many years of being a dedicated patron. I normally don't write negative reviews but felt compelled to write this one to let others know what they may be in for if they decide to go to the restaurant during typical busy times. My wife and I, as well as other customers, were denied service at the restaurant and could not place an order because they were just "too busy". Really? Is that the business philosophy of the new owners? I was shocked since we were not given the oppurtunity to wait for an order even if they were busy - we were plainly told they were not taking any of our orders and completely denied serving us (It was about 5:30pm). Like I said, I love their food, and I was also willing to wait, 10 mins, 30 mins, or even an hour. But we were not given that opportunity - we were simply denied service at Mililani Restaurant by at employee/individual at the counter who turned us away. Albeit they were busy - so I am pretty sure we, and others, were denied service not because of discrimination or anything like that - but boy did it feel like I was on the mainland back in the early 60s. I think the incident may be one or a combination of the following: 1) inherent business philosophy of treating their customers, poor surge operation planning, incompetent employees, experiencing a mishap in service operations, or some other unforeseen reason. In any case, I will continue to go to Mililani Restaurant since I truly love their food (and willing to wait). Other customer who were also denied service indicated that they were not ever returning - but I probably will. I just hope they fix the problems that caused them to deny service to the public in the first place - it was pretty discouraging and upsetting to not even be given the chance to wait for a given estimated time - I would have assumed they could have just provided that info and have the customer decide for themselves if they would like to wait instead of a firm denial of service - but they made the decision for you. Just be aware if you plan to go there during or around typical meal times - as you may be denied service as well. read more

Of course, "Mililani Restaurant" So she went to get takeout last month, on November 13 (Sorry so late). Ordered a few of our many "favorites" - Pork Tonkatsu all Rice with Gravy, Orange Chicken, Wagyu Cheeseburger, Garlic Wonton, and first time try Zucchini Tempura w/tartar sauce. Overall, as ALWAYS everything SO ONO!!! The Zucchini Tempura is "hands-down" DA BEST on island!!! Everybody else that make some kine fried Zucchini... Cuts their Zucchini SO THIN that after fry all get is fried batter. Not the case here though. PERFECT thickness!!! The tartar sauce, chunky and YUMMY needs be a "little" bigger though. Not enuff for amount of Zucchini. But, I'm not complaining! I have come to Mililani Restaurant on several occasions. We use to come mainly to order their famous fried noodles. I kept on seeing reviews about their shoyu chicken ans had to try it. They have many tables and booths inside for dining. Employees are always friendly and they seem so busy all the time taking phone orders. We ordered their shoyu chicken plate and beef brocolli. Both come with rice and mac salad which is packed separately. That's a plus. I wish they placed wax paper at the bottom of their plates to keep the food from sticking to the paper take out plate. By the time I got home, the food was stuck to the plate. The shoyu chicken though is very soft and tasty. It is not your original local shoyu chicken but it's like a rotisserie style chicken with a shoyu sauce with the consistency a light gravy. So so good! The beef brocolli had very tender meat and the brocolli was also cooked well and not over cooked. The flavor was very good as well. Both plates had enough for two servings. The food here is consistent and delicious. We have also ordered catering here on several occasions and liked food. The large pan though was different from what we know. It was more of a square pan not tbe long foil pan. Prices were a bit high for catering but with inflation it was understandable as everyone's prices have gone up. I would definitely recommend trying it out of you haven't and to try the shoyu chicken. It's different but good. It is one of my go to's. read more

I'm not sure why the change but it's not a good one. I haven't gone in a while so i was looking forward to my favorite "go to" - pork cutlet with gravy all over plate ... WHAT HAPPENED??? The cut of the meat, the preparation/seasoning and the overall appearance was alllllll off!!! AND WAS BURNT! My brother had the chicken katsu and even that tasted different ... the textures was all off too ... IDK Y these changes were made but they're not good ones ... The guy in charge said we could not substitute fries for rice, so we ordered it. I got no rice for my gravy and paid full price, then had to buy side fries. I walked in here this afternoon, and there was a short line. The line moved somewhat fast, but the wait for the food was roughly about 12-15 mins. I don't mind food being made to order, but was somewhat disappointed. I tried the mini lemon chicken, and fried noodles which was ok. Food going down was more on the oily side. The food did give me indigestion, within 2 hours after eating there Not sure if I will be coming back anytime soon, but will try something else. read more

Waited way too long for 5 plates! 45 minutes for a chicken katsu, pork katsu, ribeye, combo trio and a beef tomato. We ordered at 6:45p and didn't leave till 7:30p! I even saw the OPEN sign turn off. My mom was the last customer in there! A girl helped my mother bring the food to the car and apologized and said they were busy bcs it was the holiday season, but it's a Monday night! And then she said something about being short staffed. They should have warned us of the wait ahead of time. This way my kids could have been fed at 7:00p instead of 8:00p! read more

This place was absolutely amazing. We were recommended by a family member to check out this restaurant for a "true local experience" and it did not disappoint at all. Upon after seeing the menu, my family and I ordered everything we could off of the menu out of pure excitement. The fried salmon and cold ginger chicken were my absolute favorites, whereas the Korean fried chicken and chicken katsu were my wife's! The portions were also massive and we walked away barely being able to button up our pants. The service was absolutely amazing and quick. The workers were incredibly nice and attentive. The food came out piping hot, which was awesome! As for the ambiance, it was very homely and reminded me of the cafes I grew up eating back at home. I loved the murals they had on the wall with just family pictures. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits the island.
