I hate this place, I hate their desserts, I hate what the business represents, and I hate that they are successful. When I tell you that the ice cream here tastes like a mistake I fully mean it. The claim to fame "cereal milk ice cream" legitimately tastes like spoiled wheat germ, it is shockingly unappetizing and and equally shocking is the fact that it's more than $3.99. This garbage should be free, I should be paid to get rid of it. I asked a very friendly staff member, "Is this what it's supposed to taste like?" she took a sample out of the machine and tried it herself. "yes." I stared in disbelief and she added on, "I know." The cookies are abhorrent, they're sweeter than walmart lofthouse pucks and 10X the price and actually have less depth. Sugar sugar sugar sugar sugar. That's it, it's all sugar. Save yourself the money and buy straight corn syrup and drink it, you'll enjoy that about as much as the birthday cake cookie from this soulless void of a dessert shop. The mere concept that they also host baking classes in here is what I would call culinary terrorism. An affront to desserts as an artform as much as the desserts are an affront to taste as a sense. If you care at all about food, you should be angry that this place is in business. Would rate negative stars if possible.

Good cookie spot, but the only cookie they really stood out was the TriplePB (3x peanut butter), the the kitchen sink was just too many different flavors. The service was very friendly and fast, and the ambiance was very cool, especially in the party area. I'm calling it the party area because it seems to be a spot where they teach classes or have some kind of cookie parties? Seems like it would be a great thing for teens or a fun friends group birthday type activity.

This place is over hyped, I wish I would have read the reviews before spending $60 on awful stuff! The girl at the register was not friendly and really just kind of angry! We got 6 cookies (assorted flavors) and a birthday milkshake. The cookies were either stale or overcooked. They had this awful saltiness to them. The milkshake was just as bad! Awful place, rude staff! Sorry, not sorry!!!

The good: delicious Milk bar pie, buttery, chewy, oat crust. Rich, dense cookies with lots of flavor. The pint ice cream they have is decadent. Very thick swirls of caramel. The BAD: $50 pie. One single thin slice is $7. Each truffle is like $4 with tax. It's really overpriced. Service was not amazing either. We asked the guy what he recommended, what was good and he said said. " no, it doesn't work like that." Um what? So yeah, kind of weird. I think this is a nice occasional treat but no pie is worth $50.

I've been coming to Milk Bar for a few years now! The and quality of desserts here are amazing, and I love introducing my friends here when they're new to LA or haven't explored much of the dessert scene here. The baked goods are definitely on the sweeter side, so if you're sensitive to sweetness I'd be cautious. However, I personally love heavy sweets so this is def the spot to be! My usual order is their cereal milk + cornflake crunch soft serve ice cream, it's the perfect balance of sweet and salty that scratches my brain just right lol. Some other items I really enjoy is the Milk Bar Pie (SUPER sweet and rich, fyi) and the Kitchen Sink Cookie (amazing if you love texture variety). My boyfriend ordered the seasonal feature Wintermint soft serve, and it was delicious. Definitely a must visit if you're in the area, especially if you're already a fan of their truffles sold in grocery stores. Even better in person!

We celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday on melrose with some fun shopping and landed at Milk Bar with ten 13 year old girls. We ordered the classic cake and when we arrived, we were greeted by Mahalia at the register and Matthew in the kitchen. They extended such generosity and hospitality to us by allowing us to sit inside and get the girls out of the heat. It was the highlight of my daughter's day. Thank you for employing such warm hearted staff, it enhanced our experience exponentially. Mahalia and Matthew, we are indebted to your kindness.

I love milk bar! It's probably one of my favorite cookie shops. I have gifted various items via their website for friends over the years. I stop into the Melrose location whenever I'm in the area which I was a few days ago. I went in to try their strawberry shortcake soft serve which was good. I wouldn't say it's my favorite soft serve out there but it was a unique flavors. Of course their crack pie is always the winner. As odd as it sounds, the corn cookie was our favorite but they didn't have any, I hope it hasn't been discontinued. If you ever get a chance to try their holiday flavors like peppermint, it's a must! They have an adorable area where you can sit and relax...the room looks like it could've been part of their kitchen at one point. I don't think there's any seating outdoors. Milk is located in the same small shopping plaza as Winchells. There's about 10 parking spots onsite and street parking via meter or in the neighborhood but be careful and read the signs carefully.

We tried the soft serve, the build-a-pint and the cookies as well. Service was great, and the ice cream was fantastic. They only had two flavors of ice cream and I went for the cereal milk ice cream one and completely loved it. I also paired it with a chocolate chip cookie and it went well. The flavor reminded me a bit of vanilla with a hint of salt caramel ice cream for some reason. Would definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again.

Milk should be called "spoiled milk " honestly great atmosphere but we're not there for the setting. I had all these desserts that looked amazing but they had no flavor. Felt like I was eating a cardboard box. Nothing made me feel like the day I signed my divorce papers. Honestly just skip not worth the hype

Oh my gosh! I can't believe I've never had the ice cream here. I ordered one with cornflakes and it was so sweet and salty with the cereal milk ice cream. I am definitely coming back. The ice cream is $7 and an extra $1.80 with the cornflakes. The people there smile when they serve you and the place is clean and inviting to sit and eat your desserts. They had samples of the milk bar pie and my hubby got a slice of that. My daughter had the cereal milk ice cream and couldn't finish so she took that home. There are places to park in the lot but this place gets crowded so "good luck".

Always a staple. The ice cream is to die for. The bday truffles are a yes and I don't even like truffles. Miss the corn cookie. Sad!

Cereal Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream $7.00 + Chocolate Cereal Crunch $1.50 = $9.31 total.

Cute little spot off of Melrose! A friend recommended it for dessert, and as an ice cream girly, I was excited to check it out. They usually have two soft serve options -- a rotating flavor and their classic Cereal Milk. This month's special was lemon, which I was hoping to try, but unfortunately, they were out. So the choice was made for me. I went with the Cereal Milk Soft Serve for $7.00 and added the Chocolate Cereal Crunch topping for $1.50. After tax, it came out to $9.31. The soft serve itself was a bit saltier than I expected, but the Chocolate Cereal Crunch totally saved it. It added the perfect texture to break things up. I definitely recommend adding a topping. From the display, I thought the topping would just be basic cocoa krispies, but they were way better. It tasted like they mixed in some butter, cocoa, and sugar to make them extra tasty and unique to the shop. I also picked up an Oatmeal Cream Cookie and had it with coffee the next morning. It was soft and not too sweet. Overall, it's probably not a place I'd go out of my way for, but I'm glad I gave it a try. It's always fun to explore new spots!

Stopped in to settle the sweet tooth and was amazed by all the yummy goodness. Noticed immediately how clean and bright the place is. Cristina was awesome. She provided samples of ice cream and suggestions on food items. I ordered the strawberry shortcake shake and the confetti cookie. Such a delicious combo. The order was quick and easy.

Ask the Community - Milk Bar

Are items baked on-site? We are are considering driving up from Long Beach to visit for a treat, but don't want pre-packaged goods.

All your goods are keto/low carb friendly?

No!!! They sell cookies, truffles cake and ice cream - I don't think they sell anything low-carb or keto friendly

    Do lines form before opening?

    I don't think so.

It's probably a long shot, but are there dairy free options?

Yes! They had a vegan chocolate cookie 🤤. Not sure if it's always there tho 🤔

How's parking? Is there parking available? Is it free?

Yes, but parking is very limited. When I went it was a busy day. I suggest go early, or you'll park in the street.

Can we walk in and just buy a birthday cake with writing or does it need to be pre-ordered?

You can buy the cake without writing there. With writing requires ordering, but you can try asking and you might get lucky.

Is there places to sit inside or outside?

Yes to both seating. Both spaces are limited and on a first come basis. Plan your visit according due to overcrowding especially on the weekends.

I was wondering, when ordering here on yelp, it says $6 for birthday truffles. Is that for multiple? Because a dozen is $25. But there's no option to buy the dozen here.

The menu says a pack of 3 for $6 and a dozen gift box $24. Same price either way.

Holy shiiit how did I miss this. When did they open!?

Several weeks ago!! Def worth a try if you like sweets

I noticed some items were prepackaged. Are they baked somewhere else or at the Melrose location? Milk Bar management, care to answer this question?

Some of the prepackaged items are labeled as distributed from NYC. The other items such as the cakes are baked onsite.

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes! We have gluten free Birthday Cake and Birthday Cake Truffles, and two GF cookies - the Perfect 10 and the Best Freaking Cookie!

How much are their cake slices?

    $9.00

This is the place to go even after dining in the area. We had the Tart Cherry Lime pie. It had a meringue topping that was very very sweet. But it was still very good and the 4" size as perfect for my guest and I to share. They have a 5% surcharge that was printed at the bottom of the menu. While it didn't affect what we ordered, to be frank, their menu items are a bit pricy. On the other hand the service is great, the surroundings very comforting and the dessert display is not be missed. They have inside dining, a sunlit back area and shaded outdoor dining by the street. There are pricy parking lots nearby and, with luck, street parking is available. The lot next to the restaurant charged $20 on a Sunday, although we found a spot on a nearby side street. A hint - double check the parking signs before street parking because tickets can be very expensive and tow away is in effect at select spots. Other than parking, Bottega Louie is the place to be.

Her service was top-notch from beginning to end. She was friendly, attentive, and gave us an excellent recommendation--the Burrata Pizza. It was huge, incredibly delicious, and definitely one of the highlights of our meal. Thank you, Grace, for making our experience so enjoyable. We can't wait to come back!

From the moment I walked in, every member of the staff was so kind, welcoming, and attentive. I visited during Restaurant Week and had an incredible meal starting with the black truffle arancini, followed by the carbonara (bucatini pasta, pancetta, peas, Grana Padano - perfection), and finishing with the opera cake which I really love and had not had in a really long time (it was rich and delicious). Every bite was phenomenal. I also couldn't resist ordering the squash blossoms off the menu (cooked tempura style), and they did not disappoint. On top of the restaurant experience, their famous cafe and bakery counter is packed with the most gorgeous pastries and sweets. The entire place is a vibe, and I already can't wait to go back!
