I stumbled onto this place by accident. I was fairly exhausted, as a law student usually is, and needed some sustenance to keep me alive while I push myself through bad eating habits and lack of sleep. I was craving pho, but my go to pho spot (Pho Gia Dinh in Chandler) was a mission from the Phoenix area. I ended up yelping (is this a verb?) the pho spot conjoined with "Milk Run." While I was having my pho, I overheard the ladies across from me mention about how this place next door has good dessert/ice cream. I decided to check it out. The place itself is very small with a few tables. They have quite a large ice cream selection, but I wanted to try their drinks instead. Since I was dozing off (either from food coma or simply from exhaustion) and I still needed to stay awake, I decided to order their "Vietnamese Sea Salt Coffee." Lately, I have grown to be a fan of Vietnamese coffee after I had tried the coffee at Lee's Sandwiches. When I had a sip of the coffee, I knew I loved it right away. I just moved to Phoenix from Los Angeles, where boba was pretty much accessible within 15 minutes at all times. I was craving a sweet drink so I had to check this place out (it was the highest rated and most reviewed boba place around me). This shop was 30 minutes away from my house but it was worth it!! The place was decorated very aesthetically so it would be a nice place to hang out. They have a lot of seating so they can accommodate both small and big groups. I ordered 2 slushies: large watermelon with boba and large pinky lychee with lychee jelly. I used the 10 percent off offer from the yelp check in and racked up some Fivestars points on top of the discount. There wasn't a wait so I got my drinks pretty quickly (~5 minutes). I love how they make their slushies with real fruit and you can tell because they taste fresh. I got them to go and they still tasted great when I got home. Oh my gosh this place is so awesome. Great aesthetic, excellent drinks, I got a matcha coffee with add-on boba, while my boyfriend got the matcha boba with green tea ice cream. I have found my new favorite coffee and it's beyond delicious. My boyfriend isn't a HUGE fan of matcha but loved the ice cream that came in his drink. Definitely coming back. read more

Tried this place on a weeknight right before closing time at 8:30 pm and wow was it busy! I got the AZ Sunset flavored tea with boba and a scoop of the Andes Mint ice cream. The ice cream tastes just like the Andes candy! But for $2.99 a scoop, it was a bit pricy, in my opinion. I got the tea to go in a glass bottle for an additional $1.50. It's so cute! But to be honest, it's a bit hard to mix the flavors in the skinny glass bottle. After a couple of minutes, I finally mixed all the flavors and tasted how good it was! The interior is small but there are seats for dates or just hanging out with friends. I do wish they had more ice cream flavors. If you've never explored the West Camelback Road corridor between 7th Avenue and the I-17, it might be time to take a drive and look around. For some reason this area seems to be an incubator for a variety of international restaurants, particularly of the Asian variety. Names Kwan & Wok, Da Vang, Han Korean BBQ, Ichi Bowl, Thai Rama, Cafe Sai Gon, PT Noodles, and (one of my favorites) Pho Thanh are all within a short distance of one another. But seemingly the most popular Asian spot on this stretch is Milk Run (at least judging by the crowds and glowing Yelp reviews). I like milk teas and bobas and I've had some good ones here in town. But I came here tonight for what I hear are some dynamite ice cream floats. On a Saturday evening, I stepped inside. Milk Run can be found right next door to Pho Thanh on the northwest corner of 17th Avenue and Camelback. Whereas Pho Thanh is a giant restaurant that can pack in upwards of 200, Milk Run is a fairly small small space that can seat a couple dozen tops. The look and feel is somewhat reminiscent of Snoh Ice Shavery's flagship location in central Phoenix. A lit up menu on the wall and all the fixings behind the counter. Microbiologist turned entrepreneur Tho Ly is the brains behind this operation, offering a surprising variety of treats and sweets. Here you've got your choice of Milk Teas, Iced Teas, Smoothies, Slushies, Sparklers, as well as Vietnamese coffees. But I'm here for the Milk Tea Floats with house made ice cream. You can go with one of the five tea & ice cream combos they recommend or you can mix and match however you want to. I asked the gals behind the counter which of their combos are Milk Run 101. Without hesitation, they pointed to their Taro Float. FYI, Taro is a purple yam and is apparently a popular flavor in east Asia and the Philippines in particular. I sampled a little of the Taro ice cream before ordering. Mildly sweet, mildly nutty, almost like pistachio (your opinions of course may vary). The float is taro milk tea with a scoop of taro milk ice cream. I got a regular sized float this first go around (with boba). Total cost (including usage of the Yelp 10% check in discount) came to $5. I really liked the smooth creaminess of the ice cream with the richness of the tea. I'm totally sold on the taro as an ice cream flavor that should be more widely available. My only critique was the somewhat ludicrous amount of ice cubes that were mixed in. I understand wanting to keep the tea and ice cream sufficiently cold, but this was a bit much. My recommendation? I'll trade you less ice cubes in exchange for more tea (or a second scoop of that delicious ice cream). All in all, a pretty good first impression. Next time I'll probably try one of their smoothies (the Jackfruit smoothie in particular caught my attention). A fun, inexpensive, family friendly dessert and coffee spot with flavors and combinations you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere. If you're coming for lunch or dinner at Pho Thanh, do yourself a favor and save room for dessert next door. From now on, I know I will. read more

Was not sure what to expect with this place being tucked away into a tiny plaza with limited parking. However, being located next to my favorite Pho spot I had high expectations. Furthermore, you will not be disappointed. The place itself is very modern and cute and far as décor goes. The menu is posted to the left of the entrance when you walk in. There are picnic style tables that offer plenty of seating options. There were so many tasty sounding treats on the menu I had a hard time narrowing it down. My sister suggested the Thai tea float with boba. For starters, I was over joyed in how delectable my drink was. This made me realize why the place can become very crowded and lines long. This is my second time going to Milk Run. It was busy both times but the wait wasn't bad at all. Pre-pandemic there were board games and seating. First time at Milk Run, won't be running back soon. It is located in a small shopping center with minimal parking. We cheated at parked where we shouldn't just so I could run in and grab our drinks. The decor is cute and simple. Like most boba locations it has a cute wall worthy of an Instagram background. We got a Taro Smoothie and a Taro Milk Tea. Both were pretty bland. Almost like not enough flavoring had been added. The liquid to boba ratio was good. I like that they do the cute glass bottles which are recyclable. I just haven't reached the level of success where I can spend more to be green, maybe some day! The staff was friendly and the menu was in a good location and easy to break down.
