Came near closing. Price a bit pricey for reg ice cream. Staff English is a bit lacking. I'm not really a sweet tooth but I'd go crazy for house made ice cream. These Asian flavors taste a bit artificial and I'm not a fan of that. In all, I don't feel it's special or anything crazy for ice cream with toppings. read more

My husband and I found this place completely by accident, and it was seriously the BEST accident ever!! The ice cream was absolutely delicious, but the potatoes?! I really enjoyed the black sesame and matcha soft serve in red bean with taiyaki with dalgona topping! This was a great dessert recommendation from a friend and it was super close to where I stayed last time I was in Arizona two years ago! So much has changed. Definitely a great place to get dessert to beat the heat. The owners seem to be Korean especially with all of the decorations and fun vibes! The order came out quick and the soft serve was really smooth. I loved how the sesame and matcha compliment each other well! My sister and I were just passing through the area but we knew we needed a sweet treat, and this is what was recommended locally! I'm glad we stopped in, because not only was the ice cream really good, but the store itself was very cute! Classic ice-cream place with a fun twist of flavors and types of cones. You first have to try the fish cone which is a cute soft cone with filling inside in addition to ice cream. They got awesome flavors like Taro and Mango. Also mixes can happen as well. Includes a variety of toppings, go for the boba. Make sure to chill out in the photo booth before you get your ice cream because it may take a bit of a wait. It's worth it! read more

Came by after dinner, been here a few times and usually like it, but this time the mango ice cream was just way too sweet. We couldn't even finish it, which was a bummer. But we still had fun! My friend has been raving about this place since moving to Arizona and finally tried it! I've been a little homesick as my go-to place used to be Somi-Somi back when I still lived in The Bay Area-- so to see a new dessert place that satisfies those cravings made me so happy! What makes this place different from Somi-Somi is that you are able to actually add other little ingredients, like Pocky, cereal, sprinkles, mochi, etc.! The ice cream is also not extremely sweet so if you decide to add those extra ingredients, it really balances everything out! I'm a huge sucker for Taro and really enjoyed their Milk Taro! Staple spot in Scottsdale, kind of a locals iykyk spot which I'm not complaining about. You can't go wrong with your order, all the options are great, but of course you have to try the iconic fish ice cream. I love the black sesame/matcha combination. The mango shaved ice is a great option for my lactose-free friends too. Location is cute, can definitely sit and eat there with family/friends. I have wanted to try this spot since it opened and finally did! I love soft serve but surprisingly not that many places seem to offer it. I went here with my family on a Thursday night and it was not busy, for most of the time we had the place to ourselves! They have lots of options, like flavored waffle cones! I ended up just going simple and getting chocolate in a cup with fruity pebbles, since I shared with my husband who is a bit picky, my dad and mom shared chocolate and milk flavors in a cup. The texture was really good but I wished it had a stronger chocolatey flavor. I'd probably try the taro or mango next time. My son enjoyed a few bites as well! My husband and I were craving some Japanese sweets since our trip to Japan last October and this was the perfect place! I got the strawberry parfait with super fresh strawberries. My husband got the taro and milk fish cone with custard filling which was done to perfection. The shop is super cute with a little photo booth with props. I've had this place bookmarked for quite a while and I finally visited yesterday. The parking in this area is busy and not super clear, but I found a spot closer to the apartments and was fine. We came in the afternoon and it wasn't busy; a few folks were dining inside. I decided to get their fish cone with Nutella filling, chocolate soft-serve ice cream, and mochi as my topping. My friend got a scoop of their chocolate-mango twist and sprinkles on top. I tried her mango and it was good. I enjoyed the fish cone: it was baked nicely with a chewy texture and the Nutella was a good choice for filling. I didn't like the chocolate soft-serve - it had a mild taste and it was more milky flavored than chocolate. I would try a different flavor next time, maybe black sesame or taro. I liked the mochi but I wish there was more. They have ample seating out front and it was nice in the shade. Overall this was a good spot and a unique offering in Scottsdale! read more

My group of seven --which included teenagers and a young child-- stopped by Dessert in Desert after lunch in the area. We were greeted upon entering. The shop is bright, colorful, and offers ample seating indoor as well as outdoor. At the time of our visit, they had a big photo booth towards the back of the shop. It looks fun to use, but it took up a lot of space. I tried the following: Taiyakis (Nutella & custard flavors) Mango shaved ice Matcha & black sesame soft serve The taiyakis were delightful. Great, but odd flavors. Wife wanted vanilla, they had "milk". So that's what she ordered. I had a mix in a cone, which was great. Son had a shake, which he said was too watery. So I guess the go to here is the soft serve. The place is relatively small, gets crowded and loud. Luckily there are options to walk around outside. Very delicious dessert. First time visit. Everything we ordered was delicious. I had the soft serve milk ice cream in fish cone with Oreo sprinkles. The fish cone aka Taiyaki cone was perfectly done. Milk Ice cream had the perfect creamy texture and just the perfect amount of sweetness. I believe it's Hokkaido milk. Cotton Cheesecake was also delicious; however, it's not as good as Uncle Tetsu. The facility is very accommodating. Decent amount of room for a few parties to sit down and enjoy. Very clean environment and restroom. Overall, I would definitely be back. Dessert in the Desert is honestly one of the cutest and most refreshing spots in Scottsdale. The moment you walk in, it feels welcoming, clean, and so thoughtfully put together. Their desserts are insanely good, super fresh, perfectly sweet, and beautifully made. You can really tell they put passion and care into everything they create. The staff is also amazing. I ordered a fish-cone with cream cheese filling and milk&taro flavors, home-made cotton cheesecake, and snowflake shaved ice with strawberry & banana. OMG!!!!! The fish-cone was tasted like crispy, soft, and chewy(mochi), good balanced with m-t flavors (less sugar) and cream cheese filling. It was unbelievable taste.. I loved this place, so clean and ambience located at 101 and North Scottsdale road. Also, I am already addicted to this fluffy cotton cheesecake, not too sweet and smooth and irresistible taste....The last one is called Bingsoo(Korean) which is so popular dessert in summer time in Korea, amazingly I found the place in Arizona. I was kind of lucky to have it in the Desert. Furthermore, its taste was like way better than Korea technically. Great new addition to the North Scottsdale area! I wanted to try a dessert place that's different and unique, and they really delivered! Customer service was excellent, as the owners let us try a few of the soft serve ice cream flavors without us having to ask. I ordered a fish cone with Nutella filling and chocolate soft serve. As a family we love Taiwanese/Asian style desserts/ice creams and this place did not disappoint. We got taro ice creams with the taro cone and chocolate ice cream on the black cone, cheesecakes and strawberry egg waffle. It was very good and definitely enjoyed during the beautiful sunny day in Old Town. The service was great, friendly, quick and helpful with suggestions. My grandparents who were visiting from out of town, loved it. Overall, it was a delicious treat, beautiful store and hit the spot. I do feel the price point is a tad steep and they didn't have any children of small offerings, but I suppose that goes hand in hand with the luxe vibe.
