This ice cream shop has been on my list for a while, and I finally got the chance to try it--it definitely did not disappoint! We sampled a few different flavors and ultimately went with a two-scoop cup of black sesame and ube (the main reasons I wanted to visit), plus a two-scoop cup of Blue Moon and peach. The black sesame had a very strong, rich flavor with a slightly grainy texture that I absolutely loved, you can tell they use real, high-quality ingredients. The ube was incredible and had that authentic, natural ube aroma. It's so hard to find ube desserts that don't taste artificial or rely on weird purple food coloring, but this one nailed it. My husband got the Blue Moon and peach, which were both super refreshing and perfect for summer. Best of all, none of the flavors were not too sweet! We were itching for a sweet treat after some errands. After scouring Yelp, we found Sweet Republic. We both opted for their build your own sundae option, which consists of two scoops of ice cream, a topping, and a sauce. My husband and I stopped in for a little sweet treat. We decided to try the Dubai chocolate sundae since that combination is so so popular and I love both chocolate and pistachio. The sundae is quite pricey - 16 dollars but it was filling and even though we split it between the two of us, we could've probably shared with another 1-2 people. It is their Dubai chocolate ice cream - pistachio and chocolate ice creams with chocolate covered pistachios and shredded phyllo inside a crispy waffle cup and topped with rich chocolate fudge, pistachio cream, whipped cream, and toasted pistachios. Really great ice cream shop... really friendly staff the ambience is great open well lit and clean. The young lady who helped me get my milkshake was very friendly and cordial and professional. The only downside I see from this place is the expense. The ice cream is very expensive but then again it is all handmade in the store so you can't fault them too hard for that. I would however say that it would be nice if they had discount or specials ever once in a while that would be need the salted caramel milkshake I had was excellent. I also managed to scoop up a pint of Dubai, chocolate and pistachio ice cream, which is excellent. I certainly look forward to returning again. Date of service: 07/04/26 While their ice cream is very tasty, they have unique flavors, and they carry dairy free options, I was very disappointed with my ice cream purchase. Why? 3) Price, for 1 scoop of sorbet and 1 scoop of vanilla with hot fudge only, was $11.61. That averages to about $5.80 a scoop of ice cream. 2) The size: scoop sizes seem small. The sorbet was put in a much smaller dish (orange dish), and the 1 scoop of vanilla was in a bigger size blue dish, which gave the appearance that the sorbet was smaller, and 1) But mostly, Sweet Republic Ice Cream no longer takes cash. Here is my story.... My husband and I rode our bicycles on the greenbelt trail and wanted to stop in for an ice cream. I ordered my ice cream, they prepared the items, then, when I went to pay, with cash, I was told they no longer accept cash. Normally, I do not carry my credit card with me when I ride my bicycle, but luckily, this time, I did. I felt that the ice cream was pricey, but it was a holiday, and it was a special treat for me and my husband, since we don't go out very much. And, yes, the ice cream was very tasty. BUT....I did NOT see any sign in the windows/door, or on the walls inside, or near the register, NOR did anyone tell me before my purchase, that cash was NOT accepted. It was just assumed. This is outlandish, and if I didn't have my credit card, I guess the employees would be eating my ice cream order (store loosing money) or the customers would be eating the cost by the store the raising cost of their product, to offset the loss. If cashless is your way of doing business, PLEASE: tell the customer in some manner before they order. read more

Over the years, I've visited many different ice cream places in the Phoenix area. One that always comes up near the top of everyone's list is Sweet Republic. In fact, they have been recognized with various awards including Best Ice Cream by Phoenix New Times and Phoenix Magazine. I have enjoyed visiting all three locations in the area including Phoenix (on 16th street), Tempe (just north of the ASU campus), and in Scottsdale (on Shea Blvd). Just recently, my wife and I enjoyed an outing to the Scottsdale location of Sweet Republic. It was all-around great as usual! When we arrived in the middle of the day on a Sunday, it was busy with what seemed like a long line, but in reality there were just three large families in line that took some time to place and receive their orders. We really wanted to look at the flavors up close but there were some guests who had ordered that didn't move along so we had to make a spur-of-the-moment decision when they finally moved right when we were asked for our order. We tried a sample and figured out rather quickly what we wanted. FYI, I wouldn't fault a restaurant for customers who weren't being courteous to other customers (but note to customers reading this...after you order or know what you plan on ordering, let others look at the flavors). Kudos to this location on the great service their team members provide! Sweet Republic has ice cream (including seasonal and dairy free), sundaes, milkshakes, floats, and cookies. The most popular menu items include the Pecan Turtle Sundae, Campfire S'more Sundae (which I'm excited to try!), Toffee Banofi Sundae, and Double Scoop (simply 2 scoops of your choice in a cup). When my wife and I just went to Sweet Republic, we went for the Double Scoop and choose Milk 'n Cookies (Chunks of house-made chocolate chip cookies in sweet cream) and Brownie Fudge Swirl (House-made brownies and fudge swirls lovingly folded into vanilla ice cream). The Milk 'n Cookies is like Cookies & Cream except that it is made with chocolate chip cookies instead of Oreos. Both of the choices were delicious and complemented each other. Stopped in to see what vegan options were available and there were actually a few available. I tried the Raspberry but settled on dark chocolate the tried and true classic. The shop got busy after I made my purchase and it made for entertaining people watching while I enjoyed my double scoop. The servers were proficient in handling the small rush and the environment while sitting in the shop was pleasant. The only unfortunate part is that the smells from the Jade Restaurant a few doors down overpower the any smell of cooked waffle cones or sweet smells the ice cream could provide. We drove to Sweet Republic and i simply asked the girl taking the orders that whats your best ice cream and she said - brownie fudge and i tasted it and i liked. I ordered it and when she was making my order, she asked any toppings and i was still looking and thinking- she says marshmallow would go best with it. My hubby and I had our first Sweet Republic experience today and it exceeded our expectations! I didn't know anything about SR other than that it was an ice cream shop, so I was just expecting the basics. What we got was possibly the best quality ice cream in Phoenix. First, the flavors are impressive. Lovers of the classics will not be disappointed, but the adventurous can try new things like bananas foster, honey lavender, or tomato & basil sherbet. The sundae menu is well thought out. We decided to splurge on calories (they don't count on Sundays, right?) and go for the "Toffee Banofi" and the "Campfire S'more". My husband loved the Toffee Banofi, and apparently Alton Brown did too-- there is a Food Network article where AB names this particular sundae from Sweet Republic in Arizona as his favorite sweet treat. That's really saying something! As for the Campfire S'more, I have to dig in here and explain the quality because, hours later, I'm still thinking about it. First of all, let me say that the chocolate ice cream was the best quality chocolate ice cream I've ever tasted. It had the flavor of a great chocolate cream pie if you could imagine that. The whipped cream was thick and rich and house-made. The hot fudge was a cut above the rest. The waffle bowl was light and delicate as well as fresh tasting and flavorful. Even the toasted marshmallow on top was house-made and torched to perfection. I'm honestly surprised that there are multiple locations because this place serves up the type of quality that comes from one little family owned gem. I don't think I'll be splurging on another ice cream sundae anytime soon, but when I do, it will be at Sweet Republic. read more

I first discovered their Scottsdale scoop shop and then was THRILLED when they opened in Phoenix (they also have a Tempe location and a Sky Harbor airport location!) A customer of mine highly recommended Sweet Republic to me a few weeks ago and it sure did meet all my expectations. I will start out by saying I was super impressed they use tiny reusable spoons for sampling. I'm very indecisive and always want to sample a few wherever I go, but feel terrible about the amount of those little plastic spoons businesses go through. Although, I didn't even have to try the butter pecan because the employee sold me immediately when he said that was his go to. I added a second scoop of some sort of almond toffee and the combo together was delicious. My friend spoke highly of the huckleberry and I hear they also have a cobbler flavor on occasion so I will have to keep an eye out for that. There is also a flavor inspired by the golden girls friendship cake that Betty white made so that's pretty cool!! Price for a double scoop was $5.50 which is pretty standard or close to the price I've seen at most Ice cream shops and it fits the quality and variety that they present! read more
