I find there's a more than adequate offering of free weights, cardio machines, and weight stations. It should allow me to switch up my routine over time. They also are not busy when I go.

Even walking up the stairs to get to the gym is a nice warm up. I brought my 11 y/o son who is just starting to get into working out and he loved it. Now, he wants to move to Brooklyn more than ever. The petty monitors at the front will screech @ you and beg you to rejoin months before your time is up. Yes they are that desperate and pathetic. Due to a number of reasons, I would like a full refund. I will no longer be attending Dolphin Fitness for my workouts. I am no longer comfortable working out there and each year I find my workouts at this club less and less enjoyable. My decision is based on a number of reasons. 1. I am tired of dealing with the minefield of overly crowded equipment on the workout floor from Dolphin's other previously closed down clubs. It's not only an eyesore but it's also probably a fire hazard and increasingly more dangerous. My bruised up shins are the proof. 2. The men's locker room is just as filthy, gross, unappealing and inconvenient as it's always been there are always gnats flying all over the one urinal in the entire gym. It's tiny, crammed and uncomfortable. Given the fact that it hasn't changed at all in the 15 years that I've been a member, other than a couple of new lightbulbs that have recently been installed. Bravo. 3. The consistently abysmal attitude from half of the cleaning staff is annoying. I shouldn't pay to deal with attitudes from miserable people. 4. The increasingly inept decision making from the management is concerning. There have also been more and more instances of management siding with increasingly troublemaking personal trainers who are always starting fights with members over equipment. The gym is overcrowded and inconvenient but the management will always side with the trainers because it brings money to the club. 5. Dolphin fitness clubs is clearly a dying brand. All other DF clubs are closed down, probably for good reason. This last ditch effort to renovate the last DFC to try to make it look like something other than an old bowling alley with decades old weight equipment strewn all over the floor is laughable. They will most likely be out of business entirely soon as all their other locations are long gone. You really take your chances joining. Stay far away from this garbage club. There are plenty of options better than this terrible establishment.

There's also a room in the back where one could work out, if concerned. It's been great for my mental health during these times. Second, the trainers are SO courteous, knowledgable and professional (and fun). I'm not only getting in shape, but I'm also receiving a resistance training education here, haha. They take into account your goals, any past injuries and limitations in range of motion, and design a personalized workout plan for each month. There is a focus on how to breathe properly during lifting (to maximize the benefit and avoid injuries), core exercises, and mix of bodyweight/band/free weight exercises. Finally, yes, this gym is expensive relative to a non-training gym. However, you get the education for life, and it is sooo much cheaper than getting a personalized trainer elsewhere. I feel grateful that there is a gym like this nearby.

From luxury chains to neighborhood spots to everything in between and Brooklyn Health and Performance is the one place that I have found true success. They're motto "this is the last gym you'll ever join" is 100% spot on. I do semi private training with a custom workout and I add on unlimited bootcamp classes and it's everything I need to stay focused, accountable, and keep things interesting. The boot camp classes are different each day and the custom programs are on a 4 week cycle and get more difficult as you do them. Just when you feel you're getting slightly comfortable with them it's time to start all over. It's this combo that has lead to a complete transformation both physically and mentally. I can't say enough about the great team here. Friendly, knowledgeable, and serious about what they're doing.

Not only are they following COVID guidelines, they are going ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure the cleanliness at this facility. They disinfect every night. EVERY NIGHT! I know because they post it on social media! If that's still not enough for you, there are disinfectant sprays available for members to use, in every direction you turn. People are mindful of spacing and are kind enough to say Hello. Everyone wears an actual mask and temperature is taken when you enter the doors. Working out is not a hobby, it's a part of living a healthy lifestyle. With all the motivating quotes posted on the walls and the positive energy coming from the Small Business owner, this has now become my happy place. They also contribute to many local businesses and are currently helping with ToysforTots, by gathering as many toy donations to give to kids.
