I really wanted to like this place because the sandwiches truly are delicious. Unfortunately, the owner's behavior completely overshadowed the food, and after giving her three chances, I won't spend my money there again. On our first visit, my 87-year-old father casually mentioned that he hadn't known the place existed. The owner responded by yelling at him about how long the business has been open and listing other places she owns, leaving him feeling embarrassed and ignorant. The final straw happened during my most recent visit. I flew in from Las Vegas and wanted to take my parents, both in their 80s, to get sandwiches. Standing for long periods is difficult for them, so they sat briefly in the dining area while I ordered. They were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. They were immediately yelled at and told they could not sit there unless they ordered from the dinner menu. My father politely explained that we were ordering sandwiches and that his daughter had just flown in. The owner said it didn't matter--if we weren't ordering off the dinner menu, we had to leave. As a result, we were forced to eat in our car in the middle of winter. Great food does not excuse disrespectful, unkind treatment--especially toward elderly customers. The lack of compassion was shocking, and I will not return. read more

A Worthwhile Detour on the Way to the Adirondacks We were heading from my Cornell University reunion up to the Adirondacks for some hiking when we stumbled upon this gem of a spot in Pulaski, NY. Mill House Market is a cozy, welcoming place just off I-81--easy to miss, but well worth the stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The front of the shop sets the tone with a cute little market offering unique local gifts and goods, plus a sign out front with some classic Pulaski fishing-town humor (see photo for a chuckle). Inside, you can order at the counter for takeout or settle into their small dining room and order from the menu. We opted to dine in and went with the savory crepes: mine was the smoked salmon with egg, cream cheese, capers, red onion, tomato, and lemon--all wrapped in a flavorful herb crepe and served over fresh arugula. The egg was on top, and while everything was delicious and well balanced, I would've loved the yolk just a little runnier--it would've made the perfect natural sauce. Still, a definite hit. Our friend had the Sicilian Eggs with artichokes, spinach, fresh mozzarella, herbs, and grilled bread--plus avocado. It looked great and she really enjoyed it. Generous portions all around. A few things to note: the menu is extensive, which can feel a bit overwhelming at first glance. Some clearer organization or highlights might help. Also, our lattes were served in to-go cups even though we were dining in, which felt a little out of step with the otherwise warm, homey atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive, though with only one server working the room, things did slow down as it got busier. Still, she handled it well and made us feel welcome. Beyond breakfast, Mill House Market offers an impressive lineup of sandwiches, salads, bowls, pizzas, and rotating specials--so there's plenty to choose from, no matter what time of day you stop in. We went on a Tuesday and they were out of several things we wanted to order. Plus, only 2 of their breads were available, no whole wheat or rye. The counter workers explained that Tuesday is their "reset day" and therefore the menu is limited. My partner and I mused that they must take a day off on Mondays, but their desire to make money precludes them from a closed door rebuilding day on Tuesday and their customers just have to deal with a sub-standard day of the week. So we decided to look up their hours, which had a glaring typo, open Tuesday & Saturday 10AM -7PM. These were listed as temporary hours. We asked the line person if this could be correct or if the & should really be a dash and she agreed there was an error and immediately went back to the bakery to talk to chef/owner Rebekah, assumedly about the error. On our way out I poked my head in to see if Rebekah got the message - that's when she let me have it, yelling at me that Google was wrong. As calmly as I could, I tried to tell her, "No, this is your website" and attempted to show her the page on my phone. She dismissively yelled at me, "Those are temporary hours!" I said, "It says you are only open two days a week!" She stalked away and we left vowing never to return after our very negative experience. I should mention that I had my service dog with me without her harness, Rebekah argued with me that if it's a service animal, it must have a harness. I'd already let the other employees know as I arrived, no problem. But I had to let Rebekah know that harness is not a requirement but she still didn't believe me - I don't harness her when it is over 90°. When we were served our salad and sandwich there were no setups, after a fork and 2 napkins were brought, I got up to look for an extra fork and salt and pepper, Rebekah made me wait 2 minutes at the counter for that simple request as she vanished to supposedly "find them." This place is adorable. There is a little shop with crafts and home goods in the front. The food is cooked to order. They make pizzas, sandwiches, salads, burritos, and bowls. There is a brick oven for the pizzas which makes them taste 10 times better than the average pizza. There is a dine-in area in the back which is nice and quiet. There is also a coffee bar! We ordered the everything pizza (eggs, garlic sauce, bacon, sausage, cheese, everything bagel seasoning), a breakfast sandwich (bacon, cheddar, avocado, arugula, tomato, cracked pepper), and 2 hot lattes. I ordered a Grilled Ham n Cheese. They tried to serve it to me out of the microwave. I HAD to ask if that was for me and then reiterate that I ordered a "Grilled" Ham n Cheese. They then put just the roll in the panini grill and the ham n cheese in the microwave and served it to me... $11.88... What a yummy and friendly find in this area! The husband and I were headed down to catch a show at the Kallet Theater and wanted to eat somewhere local and delicious, as well as close to the theater and this fit the bill! Why I love Yelp, because otherwise I would not have known about this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we received very nice service, as we mentioned we had never been there before. They have a cozy dining room with a small full bar and lots of coffee drinks. On a future visit will have to try out a drink and one of their coffee specialties! They make many of their breads in-house and have 36 sandwiches on their menu plus you can even build your own! We went for the #6 which was turkey, avocado, sprouts, tomato and basil pesto on toasted Asiago bread and it was delicious! Highly recommend! I am happy to have found this wood fired pizza gem. We ordered three pizzas and they were made with high quality ingredients by someone who cares.. Chicken bacon ranch, a steak specialty pizza and spicy pepperoni pie. Service was great and the pizzas were delicious. The pizza that was a favorite was the specialty steak, I forget the name but it was one the waitress recommended.. They also have a full bar. We stopped here today on our way through Pulaski when we were starving and found this on yelp. OMG so glad we took a chance! There are 20+ variety's of sandwiches or you can make you own up (like I did). They have at least 7 types of bread to chose from along with various toppings and condiments. My wife and I have frequented this small place for years. Their imaginative sandwiches, bowls, breads and pastries gave us a wonderful place to enjoy a cold craft beer and a really healthy meal. We often went out of our way to stop in. We support local businesses whenever possible. We did so today. We stayed for 5 seconds. There was a sign on the door that said basically there's a mask mandate to stop the spread of spiking Covid but in flowery prose suggested it wasn't necessary to all. And, boy, was that taken to heart. No one was masked; not the customers nor the lady hacking into her hand nor the servers behind the counter. I have surgery next week and I'll be damned if I'll risk catching Covid getting a sandwich amongst the proudly ignorant. In town for vacation and meant to go here on day 1 for breakfast but no cars in parking lot and it looked closed so I drove past it. Next day it was same thing with no cars but we stopped. As you enter this newly minted sandwich shop you are greeted by jars of honey, bottles of maple syrup, shelves, jewelry, and pelts of furs? But once you walk past this front room you are greeted by the endless options of their 36 sandwiches. I went during lunch time and it was a tad busy.... I was a little confused as to where the line started and where you put in your order. I ordered the pulaski. They have boars deli meats and make their breads in house. They also have a variety of soups on hand. In addition to the sandwich I got a cup of soup and a bag of chips. While I took my food to go there is a separate dining area with a bar area for drinks and recess coffee! What a way to represent local and get something other than fast food coffee! As for the sandwich it was very delicious. Had a heap of turkey, arugula, Brie, cranberry jam,pears and mustard. The sandwich was filling and hearty. Although if I were to order the sandwich again I would probably order it without the mustard since it clashes with the sweetness of the pear/cranberry. I also ordered a small bowl of corn chowder. It was tasty and not salty. I did however think the consistency would be a little thicker since it was chowder. My friend ordered the fox sandwich which was their version of the BLT. While it did look great, there wasn't as much bacon in the sandwich as much as my turkey sandwich. Overall I think this place is a great addition to the area! Service was friendly, place was clean and food tasted great. I hope they can work out some of the quirks of opening a new business. Already picked out our wood fired pizzas to take home for football day. But they serve breakfast all day! Not regretting ,but ended up with, a special supreme breakfast pizza ,a bacon breakfast pizza, a meatza and a bee sting. Enjoyed a bloody Mary at the bar and the husband had a specialty boozy coffee, put together by the super personable bartender,according to our tastes. From the bar we could watch our pizza chef watching and timing our pies! There's a unique shopping area also. The service and food makes you feel like you just got a warm hug.
