I used to bring my car here for an oil check, because they had a coupon in the blue envelope of offers from local businesses. Their price was the same as others in the area ($39.95, which it still says on their website on 2/19/26), but they also would include a tire rotation, which no other service station did. Good value! Also, one time I brought it in for a "check engine" problem, and the guy checked it quickly for me by just readjusting the gas cap. Took only five minutes and said it was free. My experience was several years ago, maybe more than 10 years ago. I don't know if they have different management now or if the offers are the same now. read more

This 76 gas station is the one! Exceptional, above and beyond service and on top of it...it has an excellent location on Silver Ave right before the major freeways! Omar was very personable with everyone that was in front of me in line no matter who they were or how they looked. I just got done doing a 21 hour long shift myself and must've looked a bit rough... None the less.. Omar flipped my day around. Got me the items needed for my car and when the station was out of paper funnels he walked around the store trying to find an alternative... upon not much luck,he grabbed HIS OWN WATER and proceeded to drink the 3/4 full bottle, clear out the remaining water and then cut the bottle in half and handed it to me! Highly recommended! $40 out the door for a star smog for my 2004 Honda Accord. Called ahead that in the morning, and made an appointment for that same day later in the the afternoon. Arrived, walked in, filled out paperwork, and waited 10 minutes before I was back on the road again. They also kept my car in their garage/bay for me to retrive. I prefer this compared to another smog place I used to go to, where they would drive the car back out to their parking area, and leave it with the keys in the ignition; I was always paranoid someone would jump in and drive away, especially the way things area nowadays. Besides smog, I overheard other people coming in to get service done, such as replaceing a rear view mirror, and the prices I heard quoted were very reasonable. The folks here are absolutely wonderful. I came here twice and each time I was greeted with attentiveness and kindness. The first time I came here it was because my car was saying there was uneven tire pressure. I was a little nervous because I have never had to pump air in my tire before AND the air pump machine outside was blocked by other cars parked around it. When I pulled up to the air pump, someone came out of the garage and had me pull the car up to the main garage. He checked my tires, filled up the air, measured the pressure in each and sent me on my way. That weekend, the car alert came back on so I brought it back a second time and turns out there was a nail in the tire. I pulled the car up, explained what happened, they checked the tire, patched it up and sent me off. Both times they were great - very prompt and courteous. They did a great job (it has been 6 months and my tire is still holding up!) and they helped at a more than reasonable cost. I would highly recommend! read more

I scheduled an appointment for a smog test here. I've called in the past to try to do a same day appointment but they were all booked. I arrived 5 minutes prior to my appointment. Smog here is $49.75 + $8.25 (cert) on their wall. However, if you go on their website, there is a coupon for smog that is $31.75 + $8.25 (cert). My car is an SUV so it's an extra $5 on top of this. It ends up being $45. So still a great deal compared to other places. The guy set me up and said it would take about 15 minutes to do the smog check, which was very accurate. Overall, I'd come back for another smog test when the time comes. But be sure to schedule an appointment, they do not do walk up smogs checks and only open Monday to Friday. read more

Just came out of the 76 for my car's smog check. Took about 10-15 min and they started on my car when I arrived. Be sure to show the promo before any work is done so you get the right price. It was $40 total for me. Thomas Nguyen did my smog check and there are no complaints about his service. It was fast and easy. The person at the front desk was also very nice. Shame I didn't catch his name. I recognize his voice as the one who took my call yesterday to book an appointment today. They couldn't find my name in the system despite having come here years ago to do smog checks and car repairs but I think it may be because it is under new ownership...? I don't recognize anyone there and the way the office is kept is also different. I definitely appreciate the new people there! I had a negative experience with the shop before on my old car (they tried to upsell repairs I didn't need and also told me something needed fixing when I literally had work done on it less than a year ago at the dealership) but now I feel more comfortable and confident coming back here. read more

I would have given it 5 stars if the staff didn't call out for me to give my phone number. They should have customers write down the number on paper or ask them to show on their phone. As a woman, I do not want my phone number to be spoken out loud when there are other customers within earshot. Unfortunately, personal privacy and safety are both extra important when it comes to women, and businesses should be more aware of that. read more

This is only about the smog test. It's relatively cheap if you bring the online ad but please take note that they DON'T offer free retest as many other places do. Other than that not much to complain about. It's fast as long as you make an appointment and parking is somewhat difficult as it's a very small place with many parked cars in the lot and it has a gas station attached to it. read more

But after showing the coupon from their website, it turned out to a different story, asking hard copy of the coupon(didn't ask last time), can only be done next day as I said I will come back with a copy of the coupon. I am the type of person to usually takes their car to a dealership because I want the best possible car for my Mercedes Benz C55 AMG. After my warranty expired however, costs really sky rocketed leaving me scrambling to find an independent mechanic at a reasonable cost, who I could trust. I'd noticed Millbrae 76 had changed ownership about two years ago and thought I'd give them shot with my A service and have been going back ever since. A guy named Thomas now runs the shop and over the past couple years they've helped me perform my A and B services, replace engine mounts, the starter, valve cover/misc leaky gaskets, and misc fluid flushes including (brake, power steering, transmission, differential). I put a lot of miles on my car each year (currently at 140,000mi), and they keep my V8 running like a champion at a very reasonable cost. Most services usually turn around in a day, unless parts need to be ordered from Mercedes. Yes, they use genuine parts too. No big deal though, they're right across the street from Millbrae BART station which is really convenient for drop offs and pick ups. It's kind of refreshing to find a shop like Millbrae 76 which is ran by a young guy like Thomas. He's young, went to school for auto mechanics, actually wants your business, and will try his best to show you what's wrong, opposed to just telling you. They're also a STAR certified smog station which is really convenient. read more

not only was the smog cheap but Thomas and Alex gives great advice. some things they charged me fair and some things were way less for my repair needs. they keep it honest when i had a head leak, told me where i could get a cheaper part and gave me a discount when i brought everything over to repair it. and they also gave me a deal with a oil change and tire change! i will always come back here! great service and friendly to chat with. i highly recommend this place if you have car repair needs or just a quick smog. sometimes though, you may need an appointment because they tend to get busy with the low smog price. read more

I got the dreaded "smog check needed" on my vehicle registration renewal form and given that my car is slightly older, it caused some nerves. Found Millbrae 76 in the vicinity of where I needed to be on a Thursday afternoon and called to make an appointment. The person who helped me was kind and accommodating. Really great value here for smog checks. Hard to find a place for less than $30 these days but these guys fit the bill. Been coming here for several years now and I must say, it's the cheapest price in town! Since I have several cars plus my kid's cars, I pretty much need a smog or two or three every year............ Putting the price aside now, let me give you the honest truth about this place. Thomas is a scam artist! He's a bully. He gets his thrills off embarrassing people, inconveniencing people and mentally torturing people. My first dealings with him was like 4 or 5 yrs ago I believe. My friend told me about this place and being the cheapest. I looked it up and sure enough, it's cheap. Their ad said NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY!! So I dropped in and Thomas the owner asked if I had an appt and I said no. He said he couldn't smog my car without an appt. There was no one in line!! I also know that it takes about 15 mins to do the smog. I bit my tongue and politely said your ad said NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY! He gave me some BS line. And then said, "Well if you must know, I had a death in the family. Not that I need to justify that to you!" Wow........ok I'll buy that even though that's not my problem!! No one is forcing you to go to work!!So I made an appt for the next day. The next day came and he smogged my car in 10 mins. Showed him the online coupon and paid the cheap price. So from that day forward, I've always made an appt. Had my kids make an appt. Told my friends to make an appt. And I continued to go to Thomas who was a one-man show for years. Each time I always bite my tongue because he's always been rude and spoke to me and others in my presence with a rude tone of voice. I do notice him being fake to some people but it shows when you know his true colors. Fast forward to the end of last year sometime. He had some Asian guy helping him. He collected the money and wrote up the invoice. He was really nice and pleasant to deal with. Thomas, of course, did the actual smogging and took less and 15 mins. After I went home, I realized I paid full price. Not the coupon ad price. Completely my fault. I thought this nice guy would be honest and would give me the coupon price. He didn't so lesson learned for not mentioning the ad. Fast forward to now. I got a smog a month ago. Still the lowest price in the area based on the coupon ad. Made the appt and brought my car in. The last new Asian guy wasn't there. It's a new TALL Asian guy now. He's ok. Got some attitude though. Thomas smogged my car like usual. Now this tall dude is asking me for the coupon as I am paying. I'm like coupon? I been coming here for years and NEVER needed a couple. I just present it on my phone and get charged the discounted price. This tall dude tells me that he needs to file the coupon with my invoice. Of course I bite my tongue and faked a smile. Thomas walks in at this point and over hears the conversation with the tall dude. Thomas tells me yeah, he needs the coupon so he can file it with the invoice. Now I'm thinking in my head. These two punks are playing me now. Bullying me. No coupon must equals a full price smog because I don't see a gigantic file cabinet to store all those coupons that's attached to every single invoice!! I ask both guys if it was ok for me to go home and print out the coupon and come right back? Thankfully they allowed me to. They charged me the discount price and I went home to print the coupon. Bottom line is, they could have just said next time PLEASE print the coupon. But instead, they got their thrills making me suffer. You should have seen the expression on these two guys' faces..... they had no expression!!! Dead serious that they want the coupon!!! You be the judge. Use them and get the best price in town and be subjected to their mental abuse or just pay the extra $$$ and go somewhere else. They know they are the cheap in town. Thomas once told me that himself!! Their business model is--if you don't like it then go somewhere else. Which is pretty much true for every business. Update: I am happy to report that I was able to pass the smog test on the third try- and that Thomas Nguyen was really helpful in assisting with that. Ever since my fantastic smog check experience here, I've been back to see Thomas almost every week this past month to check off a backlog of service items that I've been procrastinating on. Thomas helped me with diagnosing and fixing an oil leak (gasket was worn down), and changing my transmission fluid (it was so dirty!!). He is really upfront and honest about pricing and won't push you by up selling. He just gives his diagnosis, a fair price, and lets you make the decision w no fuss. He and his team work efficiently and I've often gotten a callback that my service is complete before I even expected it. He has gone above and beyond a couple times, and I appreciate him so much that I even brought my mom here to get her Mercedes tuned up! I've found my car guy!! :) There's a reason why he's typically booked a week out, so call early for an appt! I think I've finished my service check list for quite a while. So I knew I needed to get an oil change. Deborah at the front desk was very helpful. Always so hesitant to go get car worked on because I have no knowledge with cars. I found out my roller needs to be replaced, my transmission fluid needs to get flushed and I have a nail on my tire. Luckily rob explained things to me in layman terms. Went to get a SMOG test done and like a dummy, totally forgot to bring my DMV papers to make the process more smooth. Have no fear though, they have great customer service. Pros: -I called to make an appointment but they had same day availability. I was in and out in no more than 20 minutes. -Great pricing -They know their business and they are efficient. Let's be honest, no one wants to do adult things like get a SMOG test, but they don't waste your time here and are efficient. Con: -Thankfully there weren't too many cars that needed to be worked, but I can see this place getting packed. The lot is small. If you're going on a weekend I would call first to make sure they have openings. read more
