Do not rent any apartment that's run by Andrea Miller. They are unresponsive to any issue through phone call, text and emails. Miller tells you to make a portal request (that also goes ignored). They ended up blocking my number when I simply asked for my parking remote deposit back. It has been over a month since the end of my lease, and they never returned my money. Only after I posted a Google review, they said the parking remote was broken. How would I have moved my car out of a gated parking spot without a functioning remote? When living there, I had dirty water filling up my sink and overflowing onto the wooden floors due to a plumbing issue related to another unit in the building. It took Miller two weeks to send a plumber to fix the issue. I was putting towels down to avoid damage to the floors but the water was non-stop. I was washing my dishes in the tub for two weeks. As seen in the attached photos, I warned them that there would be inevitable water damage from this. I quickly noticed the water damage due to their delay in fixing the plumbing issue. I documented this in the portal with pictures. The portal request, texts, calls and emails went unanswered for months. When I finally got ahold of Andrea Miller on the phone, she told me that the water damage was my fault! She told me to contact my renters insurance, saying the repair was my responsibility! When I demanded flooring contractors to inspect the damage, the contractors laughed and said this was fully the responsibility of Miller management. The damage to my flooring was fixed TEN MONTHS after the plumbing issue. My rent was even raised during this time. See photos attached with dates to het a glimpse of how you will be ignored as a tenant. My lease over October 31st, and when I contacted them to return my deposit for the parking remote/ keys that I returned, they BLOCKED my number! I'm a current current resident, I don't typically write reviews, but this might be the only way to get any kind of response from this company. Communication with this leasing company is virtually nonexistent. They don't provide usable contact information--just a single phone number that leads to an automated message directing you to the resident portal, where they don't respond or resolve any inquiries submitted there. The phone line doesn't accept voicemails, and it simply disconnects. When I tried finding the "emergency phone line" listed in my lease, it didn't exist. Maintenance issues are similarly ignored. Residents are told to submit requests through the portal, but my requests went unanswered until I called repeatedly. Even then, the issues remain unresolved. The address wasn't registered as a residential location with any internet providers when I moved in, leaving me with no way to set up Wi-Fi and no updates from the company on what was going on. Upon move-in, the unit was unfinished, with missing trim, uninstalled wall hooks, missing lightbulbs, and an entryway stairway that remains incomplete. Sawdust and dirt from construction were also left behind. None of these issues have been addressed. I asked them to confirm in writing that the unfinished trim wouldn't result in move-out charges, but they've ignored me. Key aspects of the signed lease have also been blatantly violated. My unit includes a storage space, but I've not been assigned one or given a key. The stove was non-functional when I moved in--also a clear violation of the lease. Despite reporting this immediately, submitting multiple requests, and even threatening legal action citing renters' rights, the company has done nothing. I still don't have a working oven. There are additional unresolved issues, including: - I was promised a key fob for front door access, which I still haven't received. - I have no instructions on how to set up the call box for guest access. - I don't know where the residential mailboxes are, nor do I have a key to access it. As a result, I have no idea where my mail is being delivered. - Dumpster and recycling access is through a back door that locks behind you. I haven't been given a key to re-enter through that door. This company's lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through is astonishing. Every time I manage to reach someone, they either have no answers or pass the buck. Dealing with them feels like talking to a brick wall. At this point, I just want my questions and issues to be resolved. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

Scheduled a viewing of an apartment. Was told someone would contact me day of. No one did. I reached out again to confirm that it was still happening. They said "you're still confirmed." Showed up and they double booked me with someone else. Never called to confirm with either of us. Other guy calls and they say "we reached out to confirm and you didn't respond." Neither of us got any call or text leading up to this point. I left after them being 15min late when they said it would be another 10+ minutes. Major red flag if they lie about something so simple. What are they going to lie about if something was wrong in the unit etc? All in all horrible experience and unprofessional. If you want to take time off work to have it wasted and not valued you should reach out to them. read more

f I could give 0 stars, I would. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. While the commercial side of her business may have good reviews and she may treat those customers with respect, the residential is the worst experience. Please see google reviews for reference. There are no pleasant words to chose from in the dictionary when describing my experience with Andrea Miller, her company and her employees. (Jessica and Ana) My issues began very shortly after signing the lease; I noticed chunks missing from the bathroom doors clearly from an animal that was not mine. I sent her requests to repair the doors, I waited several months but was then dismissed stating her apartments are "as is," she will only make essential repairs and the repairs were not essential. There were numerous patches in the walls, I volunteered to paint the apartment to make it more presentable but, just wanted to deduct the amount of paint and supplies (262.37) from the rent, again I was denied. When I did deduct it from the rent, I was charged an ungodly amount of fees; $75 per month for every month I did not adhere to her crazy fees and notified she would pursue a judgment against me if I had not paid all fees now. When requesting repairs I was also met with retaliation against my son and threats for additional fees, she indicated he damaged a gate that had been damaged for months. This statement was against my son, came 3-4 hours after requesting repairs. She commented on his schedule, the hours of the morning he left the apartment not knowing he is a student athlete and football workouts begin at 5:30 a.m., not that his schedule is any of her business but again retaliation against a minor. After a few months of not responding to her requests for fees she has continued to charge, she had her maintenance men banging on my door at 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning to deliver a notice that she did not intent to renew the lease (which was dated for 2 weeks prior). She then blocked me from paying rent on the app so, I paid an additional $15 for a cashier's check and delivered my rent to her mailbox. I hired an attorney to communicate since it seemed impossible to discuss any matters with her, she then began applying attorney's fees to my account as well. In June, her employees began showing up at my apartment interrogating my neighbors inquiring what my work schedule is. The manager of the towing company showed up doing the same, inquiring the make/model of my vehicle; he stated that Andrea Miller instructed him to tow my car every single time it was parked in my assigned spot. At that time, I stopped paying rent timely due to the amount of threats I have been receiving and agreed to pay at the end of my lease (August 31). This is not an isolated incident she treats everyone in my building who requests repairs the same, to the point where they have hired their own maintenance men to avoid communication with her; my situation is small compared to theirs. Flooded basements due to negligence, mold on the walls, no access to a kitchen or running water for months. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM HER COMPANY. I an writing a review on google as well with all correspondence between myself and management and I am now involved in a suit where she named my son, a minor, apparently retaliation and threats against a minor weren't enough. I was looking for a new place to live because my lease was coming up. I saw the reviews on Yelp about Miller Chicago and had seen their signs in the neighborhoods I was interested in, so I decided to give it a try. I connected with Sondra, a vivacious go-getter. She met with me and listened to my wants and needs list for a new place. I mean, she really listened. What I wanted was what she wanted to find for me. She did not try to talk me out of anything, she was upfront and a 'real' person. I looked at a couple of places and then she told me that she had one she really wanted me to see. I walked in and she had done it. Ever single 'want' on my list was in this place. She set it all up and was just as excited for me as I was for myself. It means a lot to find your rental gem in the city. Sondra really loves her job and she should, she is excels at it and is a STAR. She communicates regularly through my preferred means of communication. She also understands that finding the right fit for someone is important....I think that is her goal, at least it was for me. I plan to do future business with Sondra and Miller Chicago Real Estate because they 'get' me and they care....I like that in a business. read more

I was recently looking for a new apartment last fall and was having a tough time finding everything I was looking for in one unit. I have a dog on top of that which is even more difficult! I enlisted the help of Ryan Grober of Miller Chicago Real Estate and was extremely satisfied with the service and attentiveness to my needs! I gave Ryan a list of things that were important to me, including safety, a dog friendly building, and a tight budget. Ryan put together a list of a few locations and made himself available to show them all in one day. He was very quick in responding to communication and even suggested some options on how to negotiate to get the best deal if signing a longer lease. I took his suggestion and ended up with a great place within my budget, that allows dogs (and has a ton of young peopel with dogs in the building as well), and in a great location that I would have not considered originally. Unfortunately we purchased a home through Miller and John Mattson. This was one of the homes that John has overseen for rehab. Within 5 months, the AC didn't work and it was not covered under home warranty due to "installation error". We had two separate contractors come from the home warranty company and a third that we paid out of pocket to have inspect the issue. We ended up having to do major work to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars on the house to re-do the poor and out of code work that was completed on our "gut rehab". I would not recommend John or the real estate services he provides. Less than 6 months from buying a "new gut rehab" we spent 20K to fix something that should have been done correct the first time. And when we reached out to him - he didn't respond. Poor service. Poor workmanship and no ethical commitment to stand behind work. read more

I was looking to move to Chicago from Columbus, OH to transfer to graduate school at IIT. I eventually found my future apartment through a Craigslist ad for a building that just happened to be managed by Andrea Miller and her company - and I'm glad it was. I didn't have any means of looking at the place from a distance before I signed the lease, but Andrea understood. They made sure I saw plenty of photos (also thanks to the tenant at the time who I spoke with as well) and helped me through each step of the lease process from afar. Being a student, I needed a co-signer and they walked me through that as well. When Andrea couldn't contact me herself, she put me in contact with her very competent assistant Amanda. I got several texts and calls just to check in and make sure I doing ok with the paperwork. The process could've been a lot more stressful, but it helped feeling like they genuinely cared about me. Not to mention, Amanda checked in with me on moving day just to make sure I had gotten the keys and that the process was going smoothly.
