We came to the Miller High Life Theatre for a concert this weekend and it was wonderful! Such a gorgeous exterior. The interor is both in and out of the actual theater. A classy ambiance as soon as you stepped inside. The views from both the front and way up in the balcony are fantastic, great lighting and the sound quality was excellent compared to other venues in Milwaukee. No reverb. They also have screens if you're higher up and need a better view as well. The staff are incredibly helpful with directing you to your seat, knowledgeable about what is going on and really friendly. Great, fast concessions and drinks. They also keep the entire venue, concessions area and restrooms clean. We'll keep watching for upcoming shows because this venue beats out many of the others in Milwaukee hands down! Will definitely return. read more

This review is more about Blue Man Group than the theater itself. However, I do believe The Miller High Life Theater is too large a venue for this show. Blue Man is meant to be big on facial nuances, which are easily lost to those in the second sections. While the show was generally entertaining for all ages, it felt more like STOMP, with lots of drumming and fewer small humorous stories. The drummer was great, but I was left waiting for more physical entertainment by the Blue Men. I was disappointed, however I did hear that many in the audience are rabid fans and attend this show often. Maybe my feelings are colored by having attended BMG in a more intimate setting in Chicago, which really made the stage work pop. The theater is beautiful for larger productions, but maybe BMG can come back in a smaller stage and recapture that magic of nuances. read more

I recently caught my first show at the Miller High Life Theatre. It's a medium sized theater (seating for 4000ish) and we were there on a snowy eve for the Cirque performance of Twas the night.. Parking near the theater is plentiful with street parking and a parking garage right across the street. A word of warning--when we parked in the parking garage, there was the show we were there for and a Bucks game that evening as well which resulted in $30 parking fee. That said, it was money well spent to be able to park inside and right across the street during a snowstorm. Once we got to the theater, there was no waiting at will-call and we were able to get our tickets in a snap. The line to get in also moved quickly and there ushers waiting to direct us to our seats. All the workers made the experience easy and were friendly to boot. Our seats were on the left side in row L and no complaints about the view from there at all. Due to the storm (and possibly the economy) the theater was only about a third full so we had plenty of room to spread out. The stage is large and the sound was great throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to see another show here. Get to it! read more

I saw a holiday showing of the Nutcracker in December 2025. The theater is large and located near the downtown area of Milwaukee, making it easy to get to. It was easy to buy tickets online ahead of time and then just show them on your phone to the staff as you enter. The ushers were helpful in finding our seats, which were comfortable. I would definitely consider going to the Miller High Life Theater again for a different show in the future. read more

At the Nick Cave show I ordered a beer for my cousin because I no longer drink and the bartender hastily started to pour it creating a 3-4" head on it. He sat it down to start to wait it out and allow it to overflow. Once the foam stopped growing he attempted to put more from the can in, overflowing it again. I asked if he could start over since it was a bad pour. Instead he grabbed the bar rag with his bare hand and used it to wipe the rim of the cup, removing more foam and clearly cross contaminating it from whatever else the bar rag was used on for the previous 90 minutes of service. I asked him again to start over and suggested he pour it slowly into a tilted cup to minimize the foam. His response was "Fuck off." I asked him to confirm that he actually said that to me. He said he did. I asked his coworker if he heard him say that to me. The associate didn't want to look at me as he clearly didn't want to be involved. Fortunately "Ron" did take my advice and poured a fresh Light properly with slightly less than an inch of head. I was very upset and couldn't believe that a service professional would act like this at what I always thought was a quality venue. A fellow patron who overheard the exchange did get involved and said I should just grab my beer and move on to enjoy the show. I did. Nick was amazing. I don't care about salty language from bar staff and understand that can be part of the color or flavor of the situation. However directly telling a patron to FUCK OFF because you poorly poured a beer and was asked to do it right and not serve a cross contaminated beverage is completely unacceptable!!! I emailed my complaint in to the management but have not gotten a response in weeks. read more

A beautiful theater with friendly staff. We visited to see Jagged Little Pill which was phenomenal. We grabbed a couple beverages which I thought were fairly reasonably priced, comparatively to other venues we've visited recently. Bathrooms were clean and a decent amount of them so lines were TOO to long. It's a nice theater with fairly comfortable seating. However I thought the mezzanine would be a little more elevated and as we were in the first row everyone who walked out of the theater (and it was a LOT of people) was in our way of the stage. Otherwise the seats were good. I will definitely be open to seeing many more shows here read more

First time seeing a show at this venue. Loved the quality of the sound, and the overall comfort of the venue. Great drink selection. Reasonable prices. The bank, Counting Crows, were outstanding. Adam Duritz was sounding fabulous. And his story telling was mesmerizing. read more

Date of visit: 2/19/23 We came here to see Shun Yun and I can't tell you the last time I was in this building--it definitely wasn't called The Miller High Life Theatre when I was here last! The building is in great shape and condition, everything looks well-maintained, which I appreciated. The seats are your standard auditorium fare though I did feel a bit more cramped here than I do at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. Ushers were friendly but some additional signage as you entered the building would have been helpful to ensure we were going the right way. We weren't pressed for time but ended up entering on the opposite side of the atrium from where our seats were. Not a problem here but would not have been ideal if we were running short on time prior to the performance. Would not hesitate to see another show here in the future. read more

Nice venue, historic and beautiful. Currently they are very short staffed, for an event nowhere near capacity they had many restrooms still locked, for a while some wheelchair access routes were blocked, there's no real security to speak of on entry. They ran out of coffee but I'm not sure who is at fault on that one. At any rate there wasn't enough staff to direct or control the lines for coffee, so many of us were irritated waiting in a line only to find out they had long ago run out of coffee. read more

The Miller High Life Theatre is absolutely gorgeous. I recently went there for my first time to see Theo Von and with a sold out show, I was pleasantly surprised how well the staff kept everything flowing. They have 2 screens which project to each sides of the crowd, theater seating, and the sound quality was perfect. Many many bars so there's never a long line, and when u leave your seat they have speakers through the building so you can hear and not miss anything. The only thing I wouldn't give it 10 stars for is that I sat in the second row behind orchestra section & I really wouldn't be able to see without the screens. Also when you use the event parking next to the theater, it's $30. Overall, it's a great place to be, safe & clean. read more

First time there and we all had a wonderful time. And after it was over I fell going out the exit door , hitting myself with those metal detectors. But they came to my aid so fast . They took me to my car and they were all so nice. I'd go anytime to see another concert. read more

I attended a magic show here and really enjoyed it. The service here is great. The ushers are well trained to help find your seats quickly. The George Clinton Show wasn't my favorite but I can't rate Miller High Life Theatre low (like other people) because that isn't their fault. The music was so freaking loud you couldn't understand the lyrics at all. Even with ear plugs in, way too loud. The ushers held the flashlights at eye level and I was constantly being blinded by their flashlights. Point them downward please. Minus one star for those two issues. Building is really old. Lots of historical photos and memorabilia inside. Well maintained outside and inside. There was a surface lot across the street. $20 for the show. A lot better than driving around or parking in a structure. read more

We went for the Kevin Hart venue. COULDN'T HEAR ANYTHING, DON'T GET THE BOX SEATS!!!!! Everything sounded muffled and couldn't make out what they were saying unless you were lip reading from the big screen on the side. We missed half the show having to contact the manager because of poor audio. Several people including ourselves had to relocate to what I think were cheaper seats, but surprisingly had better audio. It's unfortunate that the cheaper seats had better sound than the more expensive ones. It was a horrible experience. What was most upsetting was to find out the staff knew the audio in the upper-box seats was inaudible, but yet they still sold the tickets. I felt robbed to be honest. Why would you sell tickets at a premium knowing that you can't hear anything!? I was expecting at minimum a partial refund after missing half the show, but they offered me earbuds and said they help cancel out the high pitch lol. read more

What a beautiful venue this is. We have seen a number of things here from the Rockettes, to Shrek the Musical, and recently Dance Pros Live. Every seat is a great seat and the sound is amazing. They do have alcohol and soda for sale but no food. There are often Broadway shows here. We sat in the mezzanine row F this time and had a center view. I recommend checking it out. It's one of the beautiful Milwaukee historic theaters. read more

My first time going here it was pretty big but the inside was empty that day not much companies selling items or a lot going on besides the side section to take pictures with the made sign or the dvd section. I had never been inside the Milwaukee Theatre before this past Saturday. My BFF #findyourAmy was graduating from law school, so I had to go to bear witness to the momentous occasion/hoot 'n holler inappropriately for her. The Milwaukee Theatre is fine. Slightly antiquated in a 90s sort of way, but maybe I'm just used to the Pabst/Riverside. It's kind of weird, though, the shows and events they book. The programming that comes through is quite varied; Lion King to Book of Mormon, Nick Cave, local graduations, Riverdance, a Robert W Baird symposium... (yawn). From their website: "The Milwaukee Theatre is built to accommodate up to 4,086 patrons in two tiers of sloped seating offering excellent sightlines, luxury and comfort." Huh. It felt smaller than that, but that's cool. Adjacent to the UW-Panther Arena (formerly the US Cellular Arena), the Milwaukee Theatre seems an interesting place to catch something one might be interested in, but for me, it seems that won't often be the case. Sound was fine, and vantage points seemed good all the way around. AOK for now, looking forward to hitting them up again for something else in order to form a more rounded-out opinion, however! read more

I am a 15 year old girl using my dads account to post this. First of all I came here multiple times over a week long period. There were thousands of people here, however the employees were very kind and patient with all of us, even the younger kids. It is one of the nice places I have ever danced at. They did not allow any food. Which was a huge problem for our performers because we were there 9 hours a day. However, a gala was hosted and the staff made lots of food for us! The stage was very nice and the backstage was very spacious and nice. Overall, it is a wonderful place to visit! read more

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. This past Friday was the third event I've attended at the Milwaukee Theater (Pixies, David Bowie, and Leonard Cohen). I can't get over how underused this venue is, I hope they will continue to bring new acts / shows to this venue if possible. The venue is fairly easy to navigate, very regal and updated nicely since the renovations were done in 2000-ish. Beer prices are about what you would expect - a little on the higher side. I got a Leinie's Honey Weiss for $6.50... seems about on par with the Riverside or Pabst. A little bit about the place : the venue itself holds about 4000 spectators. It's rather historical in nature - Teddy Roosevelt was shot here in an assassination attempt in 1912, he still gave the damn speech, too. Bully for him! A bunch of other famous people played here - The Beatles (you might have heard of them), Ray Charles, Queen, some fella named Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, etc... I could sit and list them, but it's all listed on the Wikipedia page anyway. The sound for this particular show, last Friday 03/15/2013, was fantastic. Lenny has strict requirements for his shows, but the previous shows I've gone to here have been fantastic, too. There really doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the place, from what I've heard and saw. I sincerely hope the Milwaukee Theater continues to book high caliber, quality shows like this one. This venue is excellent and I would even consider paying a little bit more to see a show here. read more

Saw Beauty and the Beast here. The lobby is nice but fairly standard theatre lobby, with nothing too fancy to check out while waiting for the show. Our seats were in the mezzanine and we were able to see the stage very well. However, the lighting during the show seemed kind of weird. It was hard to make out the actors' faces on stage, and we weren't even very far away. The microphones were too quiet at the beginning of the show, but the volume did get better as it went. A confetti burst that we think was supposed to happen at the end of the first act accidentally went off in the middle of a scene at the beginning of the show. Men's bathroom was really big, and no waiting at intermission. The women's bathroom line got incredibly long during intermission, so they could use more women's rooms. Had to pay $15 to park in a ramp across the street for Special Events parking. read more

Once you're seated inside the theater, there is nothing to complain about. It's grand and pretty and a great place to see a play. It's the getting that far that can be a pain in the butt. Parking is scarce and usually involves a hike. I'm certain it has to do with plumbing, but women's bathrooms are on one side of the stage and men's are on the other, meaning you kind of have to divide and conquer - not a big deal, but somewhat inconvenient. I graduated in the old Mecca Auditorium and went to many a Wave game there in my youth - sometimes its hard to remember this is that same building. I love that they re-purposed a building that was being under-used and I love the history that's still maintained there. There are some amazing photos around the space that show some of the great events this location has hosted. I'm a fan of theater here instead of at the PAC because even the "cheap seats" are near to the stage. They also have a great Twitter presence and give away tickets to pretty much every show they host, which I'm a fan of. read more

I had never been here before, but we came here for the Mythbusters Tour. It had pretty convenient, but pretty steeply priced parking across the street ($15). The parking lot did take credit cards, but they had to manually enter the card so I recommend bringing cash. When you get in, they have people taking tickets and then you walk into the refreshments area. There were several bars selling what were likely very expense beverages, but they had them. The theater is quite beautiful and everyone greeted us.. They had a lot of people helping direct traffic to seats, so that was helpful. It was very clean and the seats were pretty comfortable with cup holders if you purchased beverages. When we left, the employees said goodbye and thanked us. The only downfall to the theater is that the parking lot across the street takes FOREVER to exit. Luckily, people were pretty nice and it seemed that they were letting cars in to leave, but there is only one exit for that parking lot! Awful. There should be another exit with a bar that lifts when it detects cars leaving...that way they still only staff it with one person, but the congestion leaving will be alleviated. read more

Beautiful venue! I wish we were here for a show but we were here for my sister in laws med school graduation. It's a large theater, the sound was wonderful and the design was new, yet not so modern that it ruined the idea of a theater. The restrooms were nice, the facility was easy to navigate and as someone who sat in the mezzanene, the view wasn't too bad. The problem I had with it, is that at some angels I could see some folks behind the scenes. I'm sure during a show this would be different. My biggest complaint was that parts of the theater were dirty. The floors were not clean and the dust was EVERYWHERE. It was covering all the banisters.... I liked this place. If I ever find myself back in Milwaukee I'll come by for a show. read more

No complaints here! The staff assisted us to our seat promptly! It was easy to get in the front entrance if you have your ticket already in hand! There is paid parking across the street in the lot structure or circle around a couple blocks for free parking after 6pm at the meters! Plenty of restrooms everywhere for the crowd. Seating is a little tight, so you can make new friends. I would get seating on the first floor to get the best view! read more

My first time at the Miller High Life Theatre, some colleagues and I came for the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee drag show, which has been a staple at UWM for 15 years. I was impressed by the size of theatre upon walking inside. We sat closer to the back of the lower level, and thanks to the big screens on either side of the stage, we could see the action taking place on the stage fairly well. I read the auditorium had a huge renovation around 2003, but it doesn't seem like they did anything with the decor. It felt a bid shard, which seems to be a common theme among theaters. The acoustics were fine and the sound was fine; not sure if I'd pay a lot of money to see a band here or not. However for the event we went to see, the auditorium did its diligence. read more

Saw the Shen Yun show Friday night and it was not what we expected. The dancers were ok but nothing like they advertise on the website. The costumes are average at best and they have this giant screen they jump in and out of , something that a high school musical can recreate. There is two MCs that tell you the story of what they are about to perform once in English and then in Chinese which makes no sense because there are about 4 Chinese people in the audience. The worst part of it all is the price of the tickets are $100 and up for a show that is worth $25 at best. All those videos reviews on the web site are fake as hell. We left the show at the intermission , the only way this show could be worth watching is to drop a hit of acid right before the show. Don't believe the hype it's a scam. Save your money and your time. The show sucks. read more

Saw Lion King on Wednesday night. Yes parking is $15 across the street but that's pretty standard. The holding area is nice but it doesn't have a lot of seating. Inside we sat in mezz 1 which was nice, lots of leg room but some parts of the stage were blocked. The stage opening seems to small for the seating layout. The sound was pretty quiet and we strained to hear during the show. Overall it was fine except for one thing.... The docents!!! If you are going to use a flashlight to show people where to go, point it at the ground!! We were so distracted by people holding their flashlights, on, shinning behind them so it was right in our eyes! I said something to one of the docents and she told me that they need to have them on. Sure when you are showing someone how to get in and out but not shining it in my eyes! read more

Was here on 3/31/16 to see Riverdance. I totally love this venue. It isn't a large venue by any means. That being said, it makes for a much more intimate setting. I hope to be back soon. read more

The Theater is beautiful. The seats are not comfortable. Seeing the stage is great from several angles. The acoustics are fantastic.

I have seen Granger Smith three times, always awesome! If you get a chance go see him! However the venue this time was not good. I had 2nd row seats due to presale and all of that. Staff allowed people from far back rows to come all the way to the front in the aisle for the whole concert. Even the people in the front row were constantly fighting for their own seats! The entire venue was seats, not free standing/pit. The security guy was right there, and wouldn't do anything even with people complaining. The security guy also allowed people to put their trash on the stage during the performance! That's just rude and disrespectful and I actually felt back for Granger, the band, and his staff. The venue needs to retrain staff, but the concert was great. read more
