Heard some good some bad about this place. The chicken was just ok. Like B-dubs really is better. The mashed potatoes this day were of the bad instant variety and the gravy from a jar. It was all fairly hot when we got it and they were fast about it. And yes I know good chicken and no I don't think it's KFC. Well, their instant potatoes are better. I've been coming to Miller's for 40 years. It's consistently good. The chicken is outstanding. Some of the sides (like the cole slaw) could be improved, but that just may reveal my preference for vinegar based slaws. The potato chunks are really good. And the haddock is a great alternative to chicken. The soups are great too. Frankly, I don't get the negative reviews. It's just a chicken place. I'm sure someone's granny from below the Mason-Dixie line can do better, but you're not going to buy better chicken from a chicken joint in Ohio. read more

Simple, no frills restaurant that serves just plain old fantastic chicken and some other very yummy stuff to go along with it. I'm not sure, but I think this place has been around forever, and they just keep consistently making good food. It's definitely off the beaten path, and I love to hear stories of how people have found it accidentally when they were driving around somewhat lost or looking for something else. We feel it is definitely well worth an occasional drive from our home in Columbus. If you want to make it a truly complete Athens experience, grab a bucket from Miller's and head to Strouds Run on a nice day. read more

Miller's may be the best example of pre-factory fried bird shacks in the mid-Ohio area. Fantastic by the piece chicken and my personal favorite - livers. I get a pound, pour a few large dashes of hot sauce into the bag, shake, and eat. Cannot be beat. And cheap, too. Skip KFC and get something real, and real good, at Miller's. read more

Athens native here. Miller's is overrated. Chicken prices are fine for what you get, but I make better chicken in frying pan. The slaw is downright AWFUL. Not made on premises and the #2 ingredient is HFCS. Eeewwww. That not real sugar too-sweet taste. Two glasses of water to wash it out and throw the rest away. Mac+Cheese ok, but not made on premises. The mashed potatoes are excellent but way overpriced, and they are so stingy with the gravy that if you order two quarts of mashed potatoes they try to give you not quite a 1/2-pt gravy and you have to ask for more, which they want to charge you for. Verdict: slightly over-priced (the sides are the reason), and waaaaaaaaay overrated. read more

Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. Super crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside and perfectly spiced. You can get chicken hearts and livers here too if that's your thing. The sides are very average otherwise I might have considered giving it a 5 star. read more

I have been eating at this restaurant since I was a child. By far the best chicken I've ever had. The same goes for the gizzards too. I always try to take people who are not from the area there. I have been patronizing Miller's since they were located at their prior location adjacent to the former city (Crystal) pool. This is excellent local fare and the quality of their food and service has remained CONSISTANTLY well above average for all of those 40+ years. I travel throughout Ohio and I never cease to be amazed at how many people from every corner of the state have either been to Miller's or have heard of their reputation. Convenient call ahead ordering lets me pick up a one-stop picnic. A word of caution however. When picking up take-out, place the order in your trunk. If not, you will generally find yourself eating it on your way home. read more

Nice little family owned place, a little hard to find if you are from out of town but I guarantee once you've been here you'll make it a regular stop in town. Chicken and sides haven't changed in the 30 plus years I've been going there. Great perch and haddock as well if you aren't in the mood for chicken. This was an amazing food place!!! My chicken was cooked fully and it was fresh and moist like fried chicken should be! The pie was incredible!!!! It was not tooooo sugary and not toooo tart, it was just right some people may say perfection! I was so disappointed in this place. I drove an hour and 20 mins to get there, and it wasn't worth the time or gas. The service was absolutely awful. The girl who took our order was rude, and acted as if she didn't have the time to deal with my questions. And this was my first time there! To top it off, the food was horrible. I've ate better chicken from a frozen box. For a place everyone raved about, I can guarantee I will never go back. And after the way I was treated, I will tell everyone I know not to go. No frills just great food. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Nothing fancy, just about 10 tables/booths in one room. The food is excellent as I've had about everything on their menu. I recommend the livers, macaroni salad, and super chicken sandwiches above all but everything else is great too. The fried chicken here is out-of-control good. Come here and you will never eat at KFC again. It's just soooo delicious and juicy. I always get the fried chicken breast and the cauliflower, which is equally amazing. It's a super local spot and the food is cheap, service is good. The decor is very 70's, but you will be so lost in chicken heaven, you honestly won't care. They charge like, 50 or 75 cents for a can of soda. I try NOT to come here more than once a week...it's that good. read more

Out of the way but worth finding. Best Chicken in town. Also be sure to try the potato wedges, my favorite. Eat in or carry out but the eat in dining is as basic as it gets. No servers, just tables to sit at, but what more do you really need. I just wish they were open past 7PM. read more
